[KERNEL][5.10.11][2.6.32.21] Kernels from Adrynalyne (Now on Kernel Manager!) - Thunderbolt Android Development

Advertising not permitted on xda.

Well how about that, Adrynalyne, I gots me a new kernel! (4a) Keep this up and I'll have to sport ya some beer!
(I think I already owe you a case)
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App

thank you kind sir!

ohh downlaods 4a FAST

Smooth as always, don't bother downloading anyone else's kernels.

Any chance I can get a 4a thats 1228mhz at stock volts like the kernel we spoke about from te.zip?
I will buy you a beer

Ughh, seriously adrynalyne?! So I was all happy with Drod's kernel yesterday, now I think I might just have to flash these kernels (b or c) to test out because they look THAT AMAZING! You developers are just aweomse for the Thunderbolt! So many options! I love it! I don't know who I like most! Thanks again

I'm loving the b kernel. Nice work! thanks!

A couple questions before I make my decisions. Is 4a the follow up for Kernel2.0 from the previous thread that was posted (i am currently using adryn kernel 2.0 and wasnt sure if this was based on that). Second. If i wanted to install the oc kernel just for the heck of having it, if I didnt overclock it and left it at the regular 1ghz, would it still run at a higher voltage and affect battery life or would it be the same volatage as 4a until you actually overclocked it? Please let me know. Thanks.

Any chance we can get a pure stock kernel as either a zip for clockwork or a bootloader install so we can revert if needed? I think the one in rom manager still breaks wifi. Thanks,

There is a boot.img file in the original basic debloat thread which I believe is stock also the stock kernel on rm is stock and wifi did work for me with np.
Just reread what you asked for obviously the boot.img has to be applied in fastboot with adb. But again rm does work.

Just flashed the 4a kernel and everything is smooth as always.. thanks man

You can clock it with setcpu to 1228 and get the same result here. Is that ok?

Yes, it continues from 2.0.
If you use an of kernel and choose not to overclock, you will not run at the higher voltage.

Good work.
Good job as always. I have a quick question. This new awesome kernel runs undervolt and only overvolts at speeds greater than 1.3GHz?

if i just install 4.0a, I do not need to install set cpu correct?
This phone at 1ghz is plenty fast

Possible bug, when screen is on and using smart ass clock never drops below 768. When using on demand it does. I was running protekk's battery sipper before this and smartass would indeed dip below 768. Is this by design? Is that how smartass is indeed supposed to work?
edit: I see that you metion smartass is not working completely correctly

Great work
Great work.

You have to install a kernel that allows OC in order to do so. Even then you may get problems if you have a Vibrant thats picky about its voltages.

If you are OK with loss of Battery life over clocking is OK. For me, having a phone that after 24 hr of moderate use I still have 65% battery left is Awesome !!
Giving that that up just to have a higher Linpack or other high benchmark score ...to me is pointless..........
It will kill you phone if you oc high frequency

I have to say... this kernel runs pretty damn good on CM. Its a nice peak into what CM7 does when a lil freq and voltage is applied Thanks again Drod
Fantastic kernal! Thanks a ton!
Just fyi, this kernel is pretty stable. I think it's better than the "stock" cm7 kernel st this point. And it performs tons better than the leankernel pre-release. I just wish this had the custom governors. But for now, I don't have much of an option, this is my kernel of choice.
Drod, well done so quickly!
And while nobody cares, I was able to get over 2700 with this kernel in Quadrant without any cheats. Good to know it's that stable and speedy!

Best rom for battery life and speed?

I started out with cm7 but the battery life was so-so. I tried a few other roms and kernel variations but nothing really stood out. My last rom was oxygen 2.1.4 using the netarchy kernel, but I was only getting about 1200ish in quadrant and oxygen seemed a little unstable.
I went back to using the new cm7 RC and the trinity UV kernel and the battery seems OK and i am getting around 2700 in quadrant.
Are there any other rom/kernel combinations that i should give a shot?

Best kernel for Epic 4G ICS?

Any idea? Stability + good battery?
I was using Legendary before, awesome battery life while at 1400Mhz all the time. It was amazing.

YMMV but this was my battery today with the newest samurai kernel tanto

This being covered time and time again in many different posts over many different threads almost warrants no answer but ill give you one and here it is
try them all flash one per day till you find one that works for you the way you like it everyone uses their phone differently so no matter what you will get different results than i do or the next person that post on this
It's really up to you, try them out and see what you like the best. I've tried all 3 kernels currently out right now and they all work pretty good. The two I usually stick with are shadow kernel and the samurai kernel. Shadow kernel is nice and makes everything feel real snappy. You can overclock to 1400 mHz and the battery life for me is good. The newest shadow, tanto, overclocks to 1500 mHz and works with voodoo control. Haven't gotten the chance to really test battery since it just came out but so far it runs pretty good. Just test both of them out, you can always flash over another kernel.

I'm using shadow now and have used apro's too and they both worked great. You need to experiment with them, and you're going to have to tweak to get better battery life. I had several trying to constantly run and none of them were things I use a lot so they had to go. If I wanted super battery life I would have bought a flip phone and not a micromini laptop, and I wouldn't have such a joyful device to tinker with.

Stock is always going to be the best for wanting nothing but the simplicity.
Put it like this when i buy a car, i put bigger tires on my car for grip, and better handling. But i know i will loose some gas mileage but not alot.
I'll put a turbo and some internals into my engine to gain in power but will loose gas.
But if we can put bigger tires and a bigger turbo but still have the same gas results as stock, Then why not do it?
We all benefit in one area and thats why custom kernels are there for those who want options that stock doesn't provide.
Stock= Base Model
Custom = Fully Loaded
Simple as that. So everyone should try different kernels and then reply not saying oh this is the best. But say IMO i prefer this over that simply because of these reasons. Everyone will want a specific kernel because one may like different things about the different kernels

I recommend flashing every rom/port and see what you like the most, everyone has different taste and just find one to your liking that's what I did. I been running "SkyTouch" over 3 weeks now, and like that McDonald's slogan goes, "I'm loving it"

This is dead on. For raw speed, full functionality and few frills (as far as eye candy) go with CM7.2. Flash thederekjay's CM7 kernel, use smartass or darkside governor, and don't worry about a thing.

Agreed. However, all the extra MIUI features do bog the ROM down ever-so-slightly. I'm sure someone will argue with me on that, but they'll be wasting their time.
Don't get me wrong. MIUI is AWESOME and tons of fun to customize. OP might want to consider flashing it as well. If you don't like the look, download a different launcher.
Speaking of launchers, I recently purchased FTL launcher. I'd recommend it to anyone. The pro version has some amazing features, like changing android animation speeds (sliders) and applying adw, go and launcher pro themes, and is screaming fast.

No rom has the "best" battery life. It varies from phone to phone and has more factors than just the rom itself. Optimal battery life is something you kind of have to toy around with yourself to achieve, but cm7 has given me and many users here some solid battery life. As for governers, look up no-frills CPU control in the play store and adjust your governor from there.

Yes it does. If someone is using a ROM other than CM No-Frills is a good choice.
Also, undervolting helps, if your chip can handle it. Use incredicontrol (play store) or oc/uv beater (xda) for that.

Yeah but I never used the Cyanogen settings for cpu. I forgot who it was (twas a while ago), but they recommended using another app to do so rather than the settings in CM7... Though I don't know if I even read it right; I wasn't developing at the time so I wasn't as knowledgeable and I haven't used CM7 since ICS became stable enough for me to use.

Lol. I've only compiled the aospx kernel the way existz has his set to compile (only minor change is mine works for our phone); any of the cm10 ports with the kernel I compiled in them have modifications elsewhere (i.e. ram disk)
This is why I posted what I did in random comments.

in cm7 settings or if you use an app like SetCPU you can adjust the governor one of the governors that estallings15 has suggested, just be sure to use Darkside kernel for CM7 if you want to use the Smartass or Darkside governors.
