[Q] Should i get a surrond? - Surround General

a friend of mine is selling me his surround cheap and was barely used(he went ATRIX), im using an HD2 running android on it an i can sell the HD2 basically to cover the price i have to pay for the surround, i do wana get myself a Windows phone 7 device since im gona get and LG G2X as a gift in july for my birthday, should i get the HTC Surround to quell my itch for WP7?

Go for it!

If you like the form factor of the Surround I would recommend it highly.

ok heres my thing since my HTC Tanager, i love watching movies and vids on my phone from the Tanager to the XDA Mini to my HD2 and i want the thing as loud as possible not to use the headset but the loudspeaker and i use PocketDIVX to increase the native volume of the stuff i put on my phone loud enough but not to distort, simply because im a DOUCHE when it comes to it, i wait in line in a fastfood watching movies or anywhere i have to wait in line for(except for the bank coz ive had a couple of run ins with bank security) and i do want them as loud as possible i live in the philippines but im in california right now, to say not a lot of people have smartphones yet is an understatement considering most people still own Nokia or SE phones that dont even have GPRS, so when i go home n august i wana have a surround for the same old douchie reason that i can watch movies on my phone without needing any speakers
i have tried it out in ATT stores and i like the solid feel and i really dont care about amoled

I have a Surround and i'm on the fourth one. If you want loud this is a great phone but if your going for an all around good phone I would go for Android. Maybe im just unlucky but im very disappointed with this phone.

Girlfriend's Pantech Duo (how can I turn off 3g???)

10/07/08 10:27PM
really all that's important now is that I can disable 3G on her phone, and I just cant figure out how. Is there a simple registry edit or a smartphone comm manager around? I tried a few comm managers but they didnt really disable it, I just want it off so it always uses edge
It was time she got an upgrade, so I had her get the burgundy colored Pantech Duo. So as I've heard there is no Roms for this phone yet, so what should I do to her phone? where would i find some compatible homescreens? perhaps the Vox (wings) homescreens would be compatible? I'm not sure yet what I can do with the phone, Im gonna put HTC Home on it if that works.
o man im pissed to find out it doesnt have wifi!
here I was excited she can finally have internet in her room.
makes her and I even more mad that her sister's BlackJack II has wifi.
damn...no secret wifi chip inside the pantech that we didnt know about?
See if you can get your hands on a MicroSD wifi card... They make them but I don't think they're on the market, not sure... But the Duo supports it. Also, there's something called HomeScreenBuilder (use google to find it), it's free and very customizable for her homescreen in WM6. I just sold my Duo recently, but here are a few other programs to check out...
DuoSTT (Answer calls by sliding phone open, hang up by sliding closed)
SmartToolKit (Better start menu, task manager, cleaner look)
TCPMP and there's a flash plugin for IE to play youtube videos, search the att forums it's posted under pantech by my username
Opera Mobile browser, if you download the trial I can get you a serial # (Just go to "register opera" and PM me your device ID)
hey thanks! i didnt know they had a wireless microSD card.
Now I just need to wait till it's avaible somewhere, I hope the price isnt too bad..
I'll put some of these programs you've mentioned on, as well as HTC Home. Is there a customizer for it like there is for pocket pc? or a way to change which icons appear.
I bought this phone for my sister. I think its crippled a lil without Wifi, but she doesnt care about anything but the cool red color and 2 keyboards... *rolleyes*
But to the point, if you are looking for other software, I would recomment using Conduits Pocket Player if you/she would like some music on it. Also, Newegg is selling 4 gig microSD cards (SanDisk) for 14.99. Worth looking into, wish you luck.
There is a 6.1 windows rom upgrade beta rom out for this phone. I have had this phone for a few weeks and am liking it from my 3125 that died. This was a warrenty replacment for me. Figured I could use it for a year and then when my contract is up look around.

$14.99?? talk about a good deal! now only if they could make that WITH the wifi.
well at one point she too wouldnt have used wifi, but when i went over to her house and connected to the wifi at her house with my Tilt from "ANYWHERE INSIDE THE HOUSE **OMG**" now she really wanted it, i got her hopes up to cause i assumed every windows mobile phone had wifi, should make sense shouldnt it? well i guess not lol. she doesnt have computer in her room and the next best thing is if she could get on msn and look at her myspace from her phone in her room, lol.
As far as a media player, I'll probably just have her use tcpmp, being it's the best for music, although not the prettiest, maybe Coreplayer? but I've tried coreplayer and i wasnt able to add onto my playlist, only load a series of files at a time.
Will the Duo work with a 4gig card? I heard it will not read any higher then 2 gigs.

lol there I go assuming things again...
Am I really that out of the loop? when did HTC stop using wifi in their new devices?

you know what also pisses me off, her call quality is horrible, can barely hear what the person is saying, sounds like she has a blown speaker, but from reviews I've been reading this is really what it sounds like.
and what has pissed me of since the very beginning, was I didn't want her to get this phone originally, I wanted her to get the nokia N75 (she would like it better) but it has been discontinued now.. and there are not any other s60 devices right now.

I put my 6gb SDHC card in and the card icon showed at the top, but I was not able to explore the card, so besides that it didnt show up anywhere.

well, because there is no Wifi, horrible camera, and horrible sound quality, i would not recomend this phone. However it does have a nice Xscale 416mhz processor. I tried some games in Finalburn and they ran very nicely!
for a smartphone I would get a nokia phone, but for a touchscreen phone I would get a windows pocket pc.
In my book Nokia wins the non touchscreen phones, I'd like to see them pull of a s60 device with a touchscreen.

Okay first off your avatar pic reminds me of a very good friend. But every skater looks like that. But secondly, The BlackJack II is made from Samsung. I dont know where you got HTC from Take the duo back and get a new phone. So far it's not that good. As far as I've heard. And I think that HTC stopped making smartphones and the BJ II is a smartphone. Well originally the BJ I had wi-fi (the european version anyway) but at&t decided to cripple it and take out the wi-fi chip. The BJ II was never actually released with a wi-fi chip. I actually suggest you tell her to get a BJ II or go for the Tilt since it's the only phone that at&t offers that has wi-fi (besides the iPhoney and the Crackberry)

I dont recommend the tilt to anyone who isnt technically inclined and/or willing to tinker. It takes too much work to get the phone into a sweet spot. It will be a pain in the ass to update 2 - I barely have time to keep up with updating my own, lol.
I completely agree with you...my wife can't stand my tilt but she isn't tech savvy like I am.
I love the Tilt ONLY because of XDA though...if I weren't able to find the sweet spots I have I would have returned it long ago. I am spoiled...never again will I own a phone I can't customize as much as I do now.

Really? I guess I'm just naturally tech savvy. My tilt is actually my second wm phone. I had the BlackJack first. I didn't find xda until maybe 2 months after I got my tilt. I had already customized it to my own knowledge, but this site made it even better. I guess you're right. It's probably best to stick with crackberry and nokia.

haha well if you live in washington that may be me..
well I have told her to return it and wait around the august - october area, but she says she will only return it if I can find a device now, well I have, but it's discontinued, the N75. But i know in a few months there will be more phones.
She doesnt like the blackjack II, and i dont blame her, I dont like phones that are wide and have the keyboard on the outside.
She likes my tilt but cant spend $300 - $500 lol
I also agree, i wouldnt like my tilt if it weren't for xda. the stock AT&T rom sucks, and it would be too plain!
well nokia requires just as much work, that is the fun of nokia, is you gota install the doom emulator and then customize it.

Not really :S Can't she upgrade? My friend recently bought a tilt. It was $100 instant (making it $199 from $299) and then $100 mail-in-rebate (making it a final $99+tax).

really? i know buying it outright is $550, then with the 2 year contract it's $350, then with the rebate it's $250, but that's as cheap as I saw it..
even then i had to pay $350 for mine cause I guess you had to buy either the internet plan or messaging or something to get the rebate, and my parents didnt wanna do that.
I guess her dad told her she has to stick with this phone, so. yeah, gay, lol.

Guessing you're over 18? Random sorry lol. But how about the LG Vu? or the Moto Q global? The tilt is $149 /w 2 yr contract (after mir) in my zip code. Don't know why'd it be any different in yours. Well the refurb is anyways. The new one is $200. Link. Also check amazon.
EDIT: Wow, you bought your phone late. I bought mine in Feb 08 and it was $350 (/w tax) after rebates. (Although I payed for the phone myself and none of the monthly bills ha) If I didn't take messaging it would have been $450 for me. Some people were especially lucky. There was a time where the tilt was only $74.99 after rebate with a new contract on amazon. That also included messaging/internet. I really think it was worth it though. The rebate, not for you anyways since you would pay min $20 for 6months which would be $20 more than instead of getting the rebate. I had a employee discount which takes off 15% of my monthly bill, so it was a saving of about $25 so I took it. I mean what the heck who cares lol. At least I got messaging too. So my real total was about $425. Which is pretty hefty. Now going back, I could have bought a tilt from ebay or something for that price. :S well that's the problem with tech. It gets cheap too quick. Btw did you check out that slick new white BJII with the pink and the blue background? That totally looks sick. I would get that if it wasn't a BJII and a BJI instead lol

Thinking about getting Aria

I'm thinking about getting the Aria.. can anyone tell me any downsides to the Aria? Is PDAnet in the marketplace? The one at the ATT store had it removed. I'm probably just going to root it.. is it possible to root it and revert back to ATT's firmware if I need to?

Lack of keyboard and small on screen keyboard
Apart from that I have NO complaints.

You will be able to revert back to the original AT&T firmware; HTC already has the original shipped ROM on their support site for the Aria.
As for downsides, what kind of phone do you currently have? I upgraded to the Aria from a WM 6.5 Samsung Jack, so it is a bit smaller and has a virtual keyboard instead of a physical keyboard. The battery life on the Aria is on par with Jack. Yesterday was my first full day with in on the job and by 10PM the battery gauge showed about 40%.
As you mentioned, there are no tethering apps in the Android Market, so you would have to either side-load a tethering app using the Android SDK 'adb' utility or root the phone. So that it is the one thing that I am currently missing. If I go out of town and need to tether, I will just pull my SIM card and put it back in the Jack.
Regards,
Tom

The big worries I had before ordering it were that due to it's small screen, slower cpu and being on ATT, it might not get updates as quick as some other flagship android model ATT might put out, and that it's service life in terms of updates might be limited by the fact that it's a mid-lower range device.
I personally don't mind the 'unknown sources' lock so much simply because it's so easy to get around. I was kind of disappointed by the lack of live wallpapers, though I'm pretty sure there will be a way to hack them on later.
To be honest, I wanted to wait until after the iPhone release to order mine, simply to see if ATT would announce anything else. If you recall, they promised us 5 Android handsets by the end of H1 2010 (Motorola Backflip, Dell Aero, HTC Aria, and two other yet unknown HTC devices). Then I saw the Aria for $50 on Amazon with a contract extension and figured it wasn't worth the wait.
I got the phone.. it seems the phone is kinda quiet on normal and speaker phone, anyone else think so?
I have a Tilt that is a little beat up, but runs well for an old phone.
For the last month, I been looking to switch. Tilt2 sucked so my decision came down to Bold 9700. Then I saw the iPhone 3GS for $100. But I waited and got a chance to miss around with the Aria and for the 15 minutes of playing around with Android, I was very happy with the device.
So it looks like by Wednesday, I will have to make a decision. Bold 9700 is a sold phone, but I have never had a BB and have heard very mixed reviews. Plus, the fact that without a data plan the phone becomes very limited in terms of GPS, etc., that was a turn-off. I have never been too high on an iPhone, but the nice thing is, I could get unlimited data for $10 a month for it (connection). After the Tilt, the Aria's size is a big plus. I don't plan on getting a data and can get the phone for $45 without a contract extension.
So now it comes down to iPhone or Aria? Man, that Aria is sexy as heck! Do I make the leap? I have been looking the Aria forum and while I have a lot to learn about Android, I learned enough about flashing, etc. with the year I had the Tilt that I think with some reading and Q/A from the good folks at XDA, I can learn to take all the crap off of my Aria.
I have 24/7 wifi so no need for giving damn ATT an extra $15 a month.
So do I wait a little while to see what else comes out or dive into the Aria? I usually keep my phones for about 2-3 years. What's this about the Aria being a mid-range phone? I don't really play games, etc. on my phone other than the occasional Tetris or something on my commute. And from my interaction with the Aria, it was way faster than the Tilt.
I just upgraded from a Fuze (Energy Rom) to an Aria yesterday. I'm not a microsoft fanboy, but I'm a huge fan of the Zune / Zunepass (Best deal in music stores IMO) I've been trying to hold out for a windows mobile 7 phone, but then again who knows when one will be released. I recently played around with XANDROID on the fuze and fell in love with it. It runs my phone better than WM6.5 aside from the bugs and the 3 hr. battery life (im sure at some point xandroid will be usable but not yet) I was eligible for an extension but still 6 mo from being out of contract so I needed to stay with ATT. I thought about a droid milestone, nexus one, and did some searching for unlocked droid phones. I stopped in the store and tried out the aria and loved it. Ive avoided touch screen only phones for the fact that i like keyboards, until I realized I actually type faster with the aria on screen keyboard than with my Fuze. The phone is light. thin, and compact, but not too compact. The screeen is plenty big, and the touch screen is responsive. Its also extremely smooth, no noticeable lag in android. I recommend trying it out in the store to see what you think, if its durable I think it will prove to be a great phone for the price, it also looks fantastic.
The loudspeaker is a bit low and harsh sounding for music and no camera flash. Other than those things I can't really think of anything I don't like about my Aria. My battery life has been very good over moderate usage and call quality is solid. I haven't made any changes to dl 3rd party apps yet and I haven't really missed anything.
This phone is very fast and never lags on me. That's something I can't say for really any of the Smartphones I've had except for my 3gs.
I don't own the phone but the concerns i have are:
1) No camera flash
2) small screen
3) no BT voice command (from what i hear)
4) some reports that HTC sync is kind of buggy

Respect to New Phones and to The Old Phones

Of all the smartphones i have had starting with the Treo 750, The HTC Apache, The HTC Touch Diamond, The HTC HD2, and now The HTC Inspire 4G, i never thought i would ever own a smartphone, sitting in high school staring at the hot girl in school texting in class with her beast of a phone back then, The Palm Treo 750...liked it so much i went out and saved over the summer and bought my first smartphone. I loved that thing it was so cool i could surf the web and check my myspace and email, i didn't think anything could be better...then comes the Apache with the new windows mobile and a slide out keyboard loved that phone, sit in class and download the remote app and screw with the teachers tv (that was fun) and yet still did not believe that a phone could get better, then changed carriers and Alltel at the time would not take my Apache and activate it ( later found out that i just didn't talk to the right agent) so i decided i would buy the HTC Touch Diamond and man before i bought this i did the research i went online and looked at the phone every night and decided to get it, with windows mobile 6.1 and the steel frame, the touch screen with Touch-Flo 3D, still could feel like it could get any better and then came my longest lasting phone i have EVER had The HTC HD2, now this phone i had to be talked into, there were android phones coming out and i was kinda excited about them and was going to hold off for awhile, but my neighbor was all telling me about it and i just couldn't do it, for one it was to big and by this time i was tired of the OLD windows OS and couldn't do it again...so i passed on the phone, and waited....well one night i was online and looking at phones and checking XDA, i seen a deal on T-Mobile for the HD2 for free, now the phone had my attention and decided to buy it because i was reading about the hacks to get Android on the device...and no sooner did i get the phone in the mail and unlocked it and put android on it i was sold this phone was god, (i bought this a month after it was released)...this phone i had since 02/10--04-2011 was my favorite phone to date, every night there would be a update from a developer and every night my phone would get that much better and before its' demise it was running just as good as ANY original (android phone if not better)...i got addicted to flashing and reflashing...then one drunk Saturday night i left the phone on the railing of the third floor of apartment balcony above the parking lot, and i dropped it....went down to get it and the phone was on AND THE SCREEN WAS NOT CRACKED OR SCRATCHED, went to push the botom buttons and they didnt work....took it apart and the button ribbon was broke...so i decided after that i would get a new phone and go with AT&T since T-Mobile most likely will come to be one with the force here soon and i bought the Inspire 4G for $99, and have had that phone for a week and am running gingersense on it and.............Thinking what could get better then this.....
so the whole point on this loooong story is you love your phones when you have them and when you think something can't get any better it does and the cycle continues, so don't hate your old phones they were just a step on the ladder to get to the top....BTW didn't realize this but all the devices i mentioned are all made by none other then HTC, including the Palm Treo 750, imagine that?????
good story. i do too have the htc inspire but the unlock version the htc desire hd. its a nice device with alot of cuztomize widget. cant wait to get the htc evo 3d this summer.
but i wish...my HD2 can control tv's and dvd players

Redeye is a popular app & hardware dongle for Apple products, but they've also said in their FAQ that they are trying for Android version sometime this year. http://thinkflood.com/support/redeye/faqs/ (near bottom)
There's a few other brands for Apple, but none have mentioned android versions.

[July 21][Q] Is it really worth to buy HD2 now?

Hi everybody in this wonderfull forum.
To get straight to the point, I'm planning to get a new phone in the next month.
I've serched alot but found no smartphone has multi-boot abilities like HTC HD2. The HTC HD2 has 'quiet' good hardware in comparison to current smartphones on stores shelves. You all know that already.
The problem is, for an outdated device like that, is it worth buying it new? as i don't trust used smartphones anyway.
The way i see it like this:
Yes, very worthwhile because:
Large nice display;
Multible OS support, live in many worlds;
While WM6.5 is depricated, still very functional specially with HTC sense;
The price is affordable according to the fact that it is old somehow.
No, it's worthless because:
Display is sub-bar to currnet devices display regarding multitouch, 65K colors limitation, and overall quality against S.AMOLED Plus or Retina displays for example;
Multible OS support is great but won't go without issues. At least won't be as fluid as native OS on its own device;
Camera is not decent (no 720p video recording, at least as much as i'm aware of);
The price is affordable yes but i can add up a bit more and get newer phone that is better hardware wise and withought much issues.
I know this question might been asked many times. still i ask as it is time dependent and the answer change over time.
What do you guys recommend me to do?
Buy HTC HD2 and fulfill your needs to 'Have It All' and don't complain about any issues;
The time is over for an outdated device even with multiple OS's possibility, save your money son.
Thank you all in advance,
Ahmed.
Personnally I would go for a newer device. Windows Phone 7 as it stands I don't think is worth having and all the apps are far to expensive. Android is the only thing I would use on this phone. Also after using MIUI (I'm going to say it) I have realised how much I like this Iphone style software, so I might wait around until the new Iphone is out. If not I will be upgrading to something like the new evo 3d.
Having said all that tho I might even hang on to my HD2 for a bit longer as it isn't slow doing anything I throw at it unless I add the new sense onto it.
Hope this helps
Is say buy a re-conditioned hd2 save some money, android feels native to my hd2 its more native than most android devices because it has a bigger team working on it.
Is you want android and you want to save some ££££ get one if you want android and £££££ aren't an issue get the galaxy2
If you don't want android then I don't want to talk to you.... lol

this all comes down to how much you plan on spending for a new phone. also if you wouldn't mind a new to you phone (referb/used) i would check out ebay. you can get them sometimes rather cheap..well under $200. if your due for an upgrade anytime soon then i would get a new device. i will say though, i had the touch pro 2 and then went to a "true" android phone the mytouch 3g slide but i missed all you could do with the tp2 so i sold my mt3gs and bought a hd2 off ebay for $120. i couldn't be happier with this phone. if you wouldnt consider yourself a heavy cell phone user and take the hd2 to its limits i also would say it might be better for you to just buy a new phone. letstalk and wirefly always seem to have good deals on new phones plus if you hunt down promo codes you can save yourself a lot of money. it knocked off $80 on 1 purchase and got a free bluetooth on another.

So to sum it up, you think no need to buy new. and iPhone looks better value in your eyes.

Seems nice point of view. Thank you
Not a problem. I even found radioshack at times have good sale prices on they're phones. I think all of these will even let you use your upgrade if your due for one. if you do plan even down the road i found it worth wild to try to find those promo codes. just go to your browser..yahoo/google whatever and type in wirefly promo codes or wirefly coupon codes. it will give you tons of sites but if you take a little time like i said it could save you a good amount of money. glad i could be of any help.

Thank you,
Just to make it clear, i currently hold Blackberry Curve 8520 that i want to replace. The next phone would be my main phone for at least 2 years. I live in Egypt so no access to T-Mobile stuff i think.
If i to buy a phone, no way i could change soon. my budget now about 3000 L.E or 500 USD. Still, i know phone prices are higher in Egypt than USA so don't let that 500 USD think of high end devices as i wont be able to get them here with that price.
you could always look for a device that could be used world wide and buy it in the U.S offline from someplace like amazon/ebay etc and have it shipped to Egypt. Im really ignorant to what would be in Egypt and wouldn't as far as stores so im not sure what would and wouldn't work. sorry. i did almost buy the g2 from ebay in the UK because it was a lot cheaper there then here in the US and the seller told me it would work but i bought the hd2 instead so i dont know for sure. i can say the hd2 is a gsm phone so like tmobile or if its unlocked you can use at&t. im sure there are ways to get it on different gsm providers but im clueless of how to flash it over.
Yep that's a problem. I don't know what i buy abroad would work here or not. besides shipping has costs plus government share ... i think it'd be the same if i buy form local stores besides the guarantee that what i buy works.
I'm using a second hand one after smashing my old one, never had an issue you'll pick one up for £160 (15k)

Go for new device. Go for Samsung galaxy s2. But if htc hd2 satisfies ur needs then go for it, no need to go for new devices.
go get it!
i've got one just a month ago, after waiting for financial resources.
i think is the best phone ever!
I was wondering about this too and was told that some devs are working on the Desire HD. Might be something to look into.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765
the htc hd2 can run ROMs that are desire & desire hd base so thats always a plus but considering that the next phone will be your main phone for two years i really think buying a new phone is the best route for you. also if you ask whats a good phone in a specific model thread everyone will tell you they have the best phone so checking out reviews on sites like cnet.com & testfreaks.com are probably your best option as far as getting an idea on a good phone. i still would check the threads after you have an idea on a couple phones you like just to see what people can do with those phone's that aren't really listed in the specs.
Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts. I red them all and figured out this. i like to play with different OS's. This is what i do on PCs so, i guess if i'm bounded to a single OS (however its greatness), i'd miss having other mobiles with other OS's. The HTC HD2 seems a good deal to me. And its hardware is not that bad afterall.
Thank you again,
i buyed a broken hd2 for 90€ 1 month ago. all i can say it's that it's a wonderful smartphone, no other phone on the planet can run 5/6 OS, android feels like native, and developement is still real active. i didn't feel the need of a faster smartphone.
hardware is really good, photo aren't bad, we have 720p recording with wp7 and soon on android too, screen is ok, multitouch is perfect, it lacks video out, but how many time we need a tv-out? (i used tv-out on my ipod video 2/3 times in 3/4 years just to test it), it lack a frontal camera, but hey! i hate calling, i double hate video calling
so i didn't need anything else
Yep you are totaly right in my opinion. However, i saw many videos on youtube complaining about battery life even on the stock os. i know big screen = battery drain faster. but 6 or 8 hours aren't accepted at all as some videos shows. They also said stuff about lags and the need to restart the phone few times weekly and sometimes daily. Can anybody confirm or deny this claim? I'd appreciate it.

[Q] Took late to buy an HD2?

So my birthday is coming up, and I was wondering if should stick with getting the HD2 off of amazon, I had my eyes set for a Nokia N900 for a long time, but since they are ditching Maemo there is no point in buying one.... and the N9 is going to be wayy to expensive for me.
So any suggestions? I'm pretty much a n00b to the smartphone world, but basically I want a phone that is versatile like the N900 or HD2, but nothing proprietary please.

Too late and not worth the money spent anymore. I personally would pay no more than $199 for this device new, and $100 ~ 130 for it used. This is my perspective.

Actually I own a N900 and HD2. I bought my N900 about 2 yrs ago. It's a great phone and hardware at that time. But now can't compete with newer processors. But still I love my N900 and it has better cellular signal reception than HD2. Comes with front camera and it works great with Skype over 3G or WiFi. But only problem is Nokia abandoned that great device. (but Nokia gave me a great customer service and replaced my phone to new one after warranty period)
Because of lack of support and apps I decided to get a Android phone and week and half ago I bought my HTC HD2. Tested it for couple of days and flashed Android. I'm happy with it.

Didn't read everything through....
DO NOT EVEN think about Nokia N900 If anything goes wrong with the phone.... yer on your own. Nokia has the worst customer support I know.
Example: My son owns N900... USB/Charging port went bad, got un-soldered...
What do you know..... Called and emailed whoever I could, to get the motherboard....I'm paying customer, I do not ask for freebies,,,,,, What happened... NOTHING!!! No one even moved the finger to help.... Ended up with buying external charger and couple of batteries....And that's the company trying to lead the world in cellphone technology.... NEVER EVER NOKIA in my house!!!!!
I saw this last post and it made me happy. At least Nokia USA treated me nicely. My phone was almost 2 years old and few weeks ago noticed cellular signal drop when I press the phone or if phone is in my pocket. I contacted Nokia customer service even my phone is out of warranty (it came with one year warranty). Had to communicate couple of times back and forth with customer service and then they asked me to send a phone for repair. I told then I'm not spending any more money on that phone. Then they said, they will make a exception and repair it as under warranty. They even provided free shipping labels to send it. Within 5 days after they received it got a email saying they are replacing my phone and it's on the way. I couldn't wait to see how the replacement is. Finally I got it and... OMG it was a brand new phone and only thing wasn't there was a battery which I didn't send them.
Now I have brand new N900 and HTC HD2
I would buy another Nokia phone only if they come up with well know OS such as Android. I don't trust any software they start.

Now that is not true. The HD2 distorts far too easily where as the SGS doesn't, plus with the new custom kernels with Voodoo sound. It can easily out do the HD2 for audio quality, call quality is in the HD2 favour however...

you got a bad phone. It is too late to claim warranty.
I have two hd2 s , voice quality is much better than my three Samsung vs, infuse and tab 7
I don't think it's too late. Although myself have moved onto the sensation, with its dust in the screen's issue...
I just sold a sealed and unopened hd2 on ebay for $350, although after ebay, paypal, and shipping charges I'm only making $300. Not bad for a year and half old phone.
Thinking back though, it's only been a little more than a year since hd2 was released on tmous. It feels much longer though...due to the fast refresh of phones now days. In the late 90s, people stick with their phones forever really..
