More info please...ROM, version...so on.

Sooo, any specific app here, or are you referring to the market apk itself?

Please search before posting
There is a search function guys. This is my fourth time posting this as a reply to this very issue for someone.

I had this problem when I published an app, so I monkied around with it until I figured it out. When I disabled copy protection on my app, suddenly it was compatible with my device (Sony Xperia Play) and I was able to install through the android market.
Copy protection is now deprecated and is being replaced with a new licensing feature, so assuming licensing doesn't have the same bug this problem will in theory be phased out.
So if you are a developer and some people can't see your app, disable copy protection and use licensing instead. I also suggest using the Android SDK built in ProGuard feature to obfuscate (scramble) your code to make it harder to reverse engineer.

Hmmmm. it seems that my problems with Android Market was due to the DPI change which I made - the display density.
I changed my HTC Desire back from 200 dpi to the default value if 200 dpi, after that I cleared Android Market data and cache and restarted the phone.
After that on Android Market the problem with the "This item is not compatible with your device" error on some applications was fixed.
P.S. For changeing the display density you can use one of this apps from the Market: LCD Density or LCD Density Changer

Download the nook tweaks and nook odds and ends apps from the market.then go to display settings in one of the apps,I forget which, and change LCD density to160 reboot try then

I get this on many apps including facebook. They all say they need to be updated but when I try to update they complain. I'll try to upgrade to the latest nightly when I find some free time.

You may want to avoid the latest as it has a few issues. 7.1 stable would be a better choice.

This fix worked for me after trying all of the previous in this thread.
Only thing missing in the link is granting SuperUser permission to FileExpert. If it doesn't have SU "mount" won't show up in the list.

I'm using HTC HD2 with haldricc's Rom "SENSATION XL V 3.0 stock ALL IN ONE (marc v0.1.8 ker)".
I have the same problem, I cannot install some applications. Once I find the apk file, I installed it and worked but not thru market.
THe solution does not fit in my problem since my lcd density is already 240. I guess every application looks for some parameters.
Any solution for me ?
thanks

Last time we set to 160 and the problem magically went away.

have you tried using marketenabler?

[Q] Missing apps on market

Hi,
I've patched my market with this patch :
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831782
Some apps that weren't showing are now showing on the market but a lot are missing
I can't find Paypal app and all the Up-Front Works apps (Androlib does not say they are no longer available (bit.ly/cR6tfA))
My provider is SFR (France)
A friend who has a wildfire and used the same patch can see these apps on his market (His provider is Orange (France))
Is there a way to get these apps on my phone ?
Thanks
Try: Market Enabler. It is an .apk file that you just have to transfer to your SD, and then install it from your preferred file manager.
Make sure you also do this;
[from Sympnotics Thread]
".....4 - After flashing the market, you still can't see more apps ? You'll need to go to "Settings", from there go to Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> find the Market app ==> Purge its datas & caches......"
This has worked 200% of the time for me, W I T H O U T fail.
I can see more applications with MarketEnabler but not those I need.
I also erased the market data and nothing has changed

Hi dude, there's a topic for this kind of questions (which is the one you downloaded the patch on) that's a better place to answer/ask questions and keep a trace of it for other people and to keep this forum "clean".
That being said, I just updated the thread, and I can see paypal without using MarketEnabler, I'm on SFR too. Flash the V4, check if it's blue, search for paypal, if you still can't see it, post a reply.

no apps market

hi
just got a new htc desire hd
and there is no android market on the phone
how can i install it to the phone
thanks
Are you definitely sure that it isn't there? Considering that it does come installed stock.
Otherwise, install it from this link: http://code.google.com/p/synergy-base/source/browse/trunk/system/app/Vending.apk?r=239

You really should go back to wherever you bought it from and ask for an explanation.
If that doesn't work out for you, a simple way to install it without connecting it to your computer would be to install ROM Manager and then install Google Apps from there. I personally would take the new Market from the XDAForums.
Hey, if you are going to install the market, it might as well be the new one.
How can he install ROM Manager easily without the Market, and what use would that be? I've merely provided the apk, that's all there is to it.
To the OP, remember to allow installing from unknown sources under Settings > Applicationa
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I see your point.
I was just assuming that if he didn't have the market, he probably didn't have some g apps either.
Doing it either way is easy enough, and in any case, and if you're going to install through an apk, then you might as well take the new one (that said, I haven't checked out your link as yet).
Does ROM Manager give a flashable package or a bunch of apks? Because again, if he isn't rooted, he can't flash zips either...knowing ROM Manager, I'm presuming they are zips.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
ROM Manager deals with installing Google Apps the same way it deals with any other ROM. It is a pretty useful thing tto hhave, especially because a lot of ROMs ship without Google apps.
So yeah, I'm guessing that you would have to root.

Sugggest you back to shop to ask for an explain. By default it comes with HTC Sense and all Google apps. If you sure it is not there, maybe the shop flash you another customized rom?

its wasn't root etc.
its not a UK phone its from Kuwait but it has English etc on it
i was wondering if it doesn't have apps market as standard in that country??
i got it online so would mean posting back, emailed them and that dont understand why it didnt have the market on.

You have two options:
1- Forget about installing most apps (as most of the apps are incompatible with our "Androided HD2")
2- Remove the new market, and install the old one (v 2.X.X.XX) and use market enabler + edit build.prop to match the device's compatibility.
Thx man, i'll try this tomorrow!!

Here is the old market:
https://sites.google.com/site/droidlife35/home/android_market.apk?attredirects=0
install normally, and freeze market updater using Titanium Backup Pro or remove "MarketUpdater.apk" from /system/app/ (after making a backup) then go to settings>app>manage>market>uninstall updates.
And the build.prop is located in your phone in /system/
edit the following lines:
Code:
ro.product.model=
ro.product.brand=
ro.product.name=
ro.product.device=
ro.product.board=
ro.product.manufacturer=
to match the ones on the device you want to disguise as.
market enabler can be found in the market (requires root)

What does the new market use to determine compatibility? It sounds like it used to use SIM + build.prop data, but now uses something else. IMEI maybe?
It looks like the apps just specify which features they use and the market determines if your device supports all those features. Which leads me to think that the market either has some profile for the HD2 or we are being evaluated using some "default" profile for unknown devices. Given this, is it know what features the market thinks the HD2 supports vs. does not support? Is there a way to get Google to update (or create) the profile for the HD2?
Thanks

Yeah I think that's just it. It looks for device's identity(in build.prop), LCD Density and SIM's number.

Natwest App now available but I can't download it

Hi guys
I am using a HTC Desire HD and I can not find the application in the market place.
So i've checked android market on my PC, I can see the natwest app but it is telling me that my device is not compatible. Any ideas?
Can I get hold of the APK from my brothers phone who is able to download it fine on his Galaxy S2?
Thanks!
It looks pretty cool. I need to save money so it would be good to have something to constantly remind me of how poor I am. I'm in Japan so I wouldn't be able to use it or install it from here.
I'm curious if you can install the APK and get it running. Root Explorer (File Manager) is the type of app which will easily find it probably in the data/app folder.
Seeing as it's a free app, if you can get the apk please pm me. I'd like to try it too just out of curiosity.
Have you modified your LCD density in your build.prop? Try changing it back to 240 then install from the market.
Hi Guys,
I have the exact same problem. Running Desire HD with AR 6.1.3. I am having problems downloading this app and a few others. I have tried the following with no luck.
- Changed LCD Density to 160 and cleared market data and cache
- Changed LCD Density to 240 and cleared market data and cache
- Used LCD Resolution to set the density instead of Rom Toolkit and repeated the steps above.
I am currently using market version 3.1.6 but have tried downgrading to market 3.1.5 but this did not help, also tried all of the above combinations whilst resetting the google services framework with no luck. (told this may help)
I do not understand the checks that the market / google perform on each device to determine compatibility but would it be possible they are checking for root via the SU command - maybe this was a condition of natwest being a secure app? (I have heard they have done this with google video)
This is the only app that I really need, and cant find an apk!
Thanks for any help!

True, but I wouldn't suggest installing a Banking app from anywhere other than the Android Market.
@alex-qts - Did you reboot between making the changes? AFAIK the only what the market would know if you had root was if it requested root, and you accepted it. I could be wrong.

I rebooted after every screen change, but each time I go to install I get the same yellow incompatibility bar and no download button. I had exactly this problem and also wanted to install this only from the Market.
I have had success by following these instructions to change the build fingerprint to something that is supported. I use ARHD 6.1.3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18147141&postcount=53120
If it works then credit to wjsturgis3.
It contains the following edit to build.prop which fixes the market issue. The existing ro.build.fingerprint line is replaced with the following:
# Switch fingerprint when there is a US release of 2.3.5
# Original
# ro.build.fingerprint=htc_wwe/htc_ace/ace:2.3.5/GRJ90/150597.1:user/release-keys
# Modified for better Market access
ro.build.fingerprint=htc_wwe/htc_ace/ace:2.3.3/GRI40/87995:user/release-keys
Rebooted and I was then able to download directly from the Market and have just passed security and it's working a treat.

That includes the fingerprint fix but I wouldn't use it as it also has some other items which you may not want, such as Advanced Power Menu.
To do it yourself - You need to be rooted, take a nandroid backup, and then take a copy of the original build.prop file found in /system/ - then just edit the original using ES File Explorer and the built in ES Note Editor to include the new fingerprint line:-
ro.build.fingerprint=htc_wwe/htc_ace/ace:2.3.3/GRI40/87995:user/release-keys
AND put a # symbol at the beginning of the old ro.build.fingerprint line to comment it out. Still useful for future reference.
Reboot and it should work, but just for completeness, I also cleared the data from the Market in Settings>Applications.
Hope this helps,
John
thanks guys I can confirm that editing the build.prop file works! I now have the natwest app!
I simply used the following command to copy the build.prop file onto my computer, then edited and copied back to system folder using root explorer (renamed old build.prop that was in the system root)
adb pull /system/build.prop build.prop
Sorry if my instructions are not great, but it was my first time editing the build.prop file.
Thanks Again!

Hate to bump an older thread but have a fix for the market. This is not related to the FC issues mentioned in the OP but the Android market may not like your DPI setting if you changed it. I had this issue with Adobe Flash and Where's my Water. To download apps that "are not compatible with your device" just edit your build.prop:
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
After you reboot, clear the market data and cache and you will be able to download your app. You can change your DPI back once your app is downloaded. I've had to do this on my G2 and the Tab.
Kind Regards,
Kevin

Agreed. I haven't found any app incompatible with OC 4.0 or now 4.1.
Although I have no idea how to edit that file (n00b) ....I use LCD Resolution app to the same thing (I think).
try the new update 4.1.0
I would suggest to use Overcome 4.1.0 too. After installing the ROM just apply the Old Market Patch from OC 4.0.0.
It works well for me without any problems with downloading apps. The newer markets are much more restrictive.
works for me that way, too. Thanks!
On overcome 4.0 i had problems with the market. After installing 4.1 nowipe zip everything works perfectly

So you lot all claiming you have no issue, can I ask what your DPI setting is?

Nothing to do with the ROM. When you install 4.1.0 (or 4.0.0) it resets whatever you had back to 240. And market works.
LMFAO
I knew it. So none of you have changed DPI *after* installing OC 4.1 and *not* had the market issue.
Therefore the original comments still stand.
Jeez.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
After 4.1.0 update installation my native browser is too slow and I lost smoothness on scrolling. Otherwise, all other apps (interface, menus, options, etc) are bettert and much more smooth.
Does anyone else check this problem? I prefer smothness on all system, include browser ^^

No issues like that for me.
Why dont you install a new, better browser; both Dolphin Browser and Opera Mobile are pretty good.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I know all of these browsers, but in Overcome 4.0.0 the native browser is excelent on smoth scrolling, best ever I seen in Android...
I'll try to Wipe and made a fresh installation of 4.1.0 to check if there is really a problem.
Thks.
I'm running Overcome 3.0.1 Jupiter and am trying to wipe to 4.1.0 but I cant unzip the recovery file GB-Stock_Safe-V5. none of the zip apps I'v tried work.
Anybody know what is wrong. I've downloaded that file several times but always from the same source TeamOvercome
