Bell mobility quantum users What's ur mobile operator id? - Quantum General

Bell quantum users, what is returned when you query the
\HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\
MobileOperator tag? I saw that bell users are being pushed the update, and wanted to try and use the registry hack to obtain the update. None of the other methods I have tried worked. So if you guys want to help, that would be awesome.
Thank you.

It should be BEL-CA. At least that's what mine was before being unbranded.

Thanks. I don't need it anymore. ChevronWP7 Hacked the update helper s/w, now I have NoDo. I love Copy Paste! I love Copy Paste! I love Copy Paste! I love Copy Paste! Idk about hiding the paste button, tho.

X10 sim toolkit disappeared after update to R2BA020

Hi,
I've got problem after updating my X10 into R2B020. I found my simtoolkit was disappeared. Oh yes, my playnow was disappeared too. Does anyone know how to get them back? Especially the sim toolkit.
Thanks.

few issues
Are u using a home replacement app? i know a couple like Panda that can hide certain apps?
if your rooted, it may just be a accidental change of one true/false value
but all i can say for sure is to REINSTALL the OS, back everything up and start again
are u using your origional rom?
Yes, I use original rom. Previously I updated the firmwire through SEUS but suddenly my sim toolkit disappeared.
I didn't use any home replacement. I had shortcut to sim toolkit in home screen but now the shortcut is not working anymore.
Any suggestion how to bring it back?

I thought you can't remove STK unless your phone is rooted. Have you tried to update into R2BA020? Mine is gone.. but I want it back since it has phone banking service.
Mine is rooted but I didnt have courage to remove it since Ive had major issues when I have removed GTalk...
Just make backup first than remove it. You may use andro to make backup. If your phone is not working Perfectly, than you can restore.
Still curious how to get sim tool kit back.

Is backup in Titanium Backup ok ?

i managed to get the play now back. but the STK, sorry cant do as of now.
here is how:
1. download OI Manager apps from market
2. once install, open the apps and look for the folder called "system" then "app"
3. look for the file name called "playnowarena.apk" and "playnowarena_updater.apk" and install them.
4. Your play now should now back to your file list.
note: the STK.apk is in the folder too, but it give an error message "cannot install in this phone." so i guess there is a program or bug that SE wrote this build number and caused the STK and play now app from installing when doing the update.
Thanks for advice. But somehow it didn't work for me.
I installed IO file manager then I went to /system/apps but can't find playnowarena.stk and playnowarena_updater.stk. If I used astro, then those 2 stk are there.
I've contacted sony ericsson support regarding this issue but no respond yet.

Looking for users of the Non-branded HTC Aria

This phone has been released in Taiwan and it is unbranded, and should work fine for European users as well. Unrevoked/Clockwork/CM6/LiberatedAria should work fine on it, but I would like to check out some things.
If someone has this phone, please contact me.
This would be good for our projects.

Would anyone have any thoughts as to why the 'people' app is missing? This is making transferring contacts a pain....
Thanks!

marree, I haven't had a look at that ROM yet, so I don't know much about it. I don't think yours is 'international' really - it's currently marketed in Asia only. I am sure there are differences that go beyond the app sets between the AT&T and Asian versions, but I think it won't matter much once root is attained and custom ROMS are flashed.
If you decide to try rooting and installing custom recovery via unrevoked's reflash, please make a nandroid backup of your current ROM with Clockwork. I'd like to take a peek at your system image, which will not contain any of your personal information.

[Q] How can I unbrand my Surround?

I have an HTC Surround that I bought on eBay that originally came from Telus in Canada. I don't live in Canada and I am not connected to the Telus network. Is there any way I can break my Surround's link with Telus and leave it unbranded?
I have looked at the ROMS Ansar has posted here but they all appear to be branded. I'm not certain what the unbranded radio ROMs do? Do they break the link?
At the end of the day, I just don't want a mobile operator on the other side of the world deciding when I can an can't get updates.
Mike
UNbranded version of surround simply does not exist .. that model is EXCLUSIVE for certain carriers
First, download the WP SDK developer tools from here. You'll need them to be able to sideload and install the necessary XAP files.
You will need to developer unlock your device using the instructions here. It was tricky for me, as I did it this morning, and it took the better part of an hour as well as a hard reset to get the Chevron unlocker to communicate with the phone.
You will then need to follow the directions here for debranding your device. The reason why I included the previous steps is that the wpcentral article did not contain enough info by itself to get you on your way.
Let me know if this helped. By the time you finish, you should be able to connect to Zune and get the 7008 "pre-NoDo" update.
Thanks jwzg.
My timing was terrible! The posts telling me how to debrand HTC phones came out a few hours after I asked the question .
Telus made the pre-NoDo update yesterday and my phone is now at 7008 without any hacking required.
I tried unlokcing the phone with Chevron but it wouldn't connect. Before I go through the drama of hard resetting, can anyone confirm if I do this that NoDo will be available?
Has anyone successfully loaded NoDo onto their Surround?
Frankly, I'm prepared to wait another week for NoDo. I am more intersted in permanently breaking the link betwen Telus and my phone so that they have no say in when I can apply available updates.
I'm on Telus and tried it. It didn't give me NoDo. I don't think MS has rolled out to unbranded phones in Canada yet.
for unbranding ... you need disassemble rom . and in XIP section ... EDIT KERNEL boot registry .
thats first .. second - unbranded surround simply does not exist ..
1. TELUS
2. AT&T
3. Cingular
there is not unbranded version like for HD7 - MOZART
if you completely delete carrier information as i described above you could loose updates at all completely
I followed the steps to "unbrand" my surround and lost the ability to send MMS.
The fix was to delete connection setup, redownload it from the marketplace and run it again. Just a suggestion if you follow those steps.

I see you are on AT&T. Did you update when connected to Zune and if so was it Pre-NoDo or NoDo?
Users that try this please post Carrier and what update you received.
Thank you,

Since the other dude didn't reply. I have an htc surround and I can confirm that the update is only Pre-NoDo (a.k.a. 7.0.7008.0) anyway when I get the NoDo update I will try to remember to post on this thread.

I've already posted a tutorial on getting NoDo here. You may have to unbrand and get the pre-NoDo update first, before you follow the directions in that thread.
Sorry, been busy at work. I originally got the 7008 build update, then just tonight went through all the "methods" in the WP7 section and downloaded the March update (7390) which I just finished installing. Both times were connected to my laptop (Win7 64 bit ultimate) using the latest Zune software.
Nodo seems snappier so far. And my phone stayed unlocked because I used the preventing relock trick.
You cannot unbrand the Surround. This is because the other devices you can buy as unbranded but the Surround is only available threw carriers.

What everybody is asking about is changing the mobile operator string in the registry that tells MS/Zune which carrier you are using. Technically, it is not unbranding but fooling whatever is checking into thinking the device was an unbranded phone.
I also sharpied over the AT&T logo so it looks like it is unbranded
You can't change the string to unbranded because it doesn't exist. Thats what I have read.

I made my own provxml to change the mobile operator string using directions on this site, loaded it into provxml deployer and ran it. I immediately was offered the 7008 pre update build when I synced with Zune. I think it worked just fine.
Interesting, link?

This post explained a few things, especially with the tool to convert .reg/.rgu files to provxml. I exported a reg from my computer, deleted all lines and re-wrote using the example codes listed. I then used the tool at the bottom of the first post to convert it.
This Is worth a read too...
This thread is where to get the provxml deployer and how to use it.
I don't have too much more time, but read those threads and search the attachments of the dev/hacking threads about NODO and I guarantee someone has already posted up a good working provxml that you can borrow to get some de-branding action.
*EDIT* I attached the exact xap I used to do the mods which got me to nodo. Use at your own risk, I take no responsibility blah blah blah. It makes sure to unlock, prevents relocking, opened advanced settings in the ease of access panel and changed the mobile operator string to "000-88" and following the methods to get nodo listed in WP7 general section and much trying, I was successful. Feel free to go through it and make your own mods, or use this. Or decompile it for an example. Either way, good luck.

Try HTC SuperTool by ACSyndicate. Try searching for it, it is an application that work well with windows 7 (haven't tried it with anything else). It will attempt to s-off your phone as long as other things.

We tried for many days to find an unlock method but it never was found..... You will have to pay for a service.

[Q] Can't Unlock AT&T SGH-I337 PLZ Help. Kind of Emergency

Hello everyone. First of all I want to say that this is a great forum with tons of valuable information. You guys do excellent jobs here. Now. I have a recently purchased S4 with AT&T. It is imperative that I get this phone unlocked TODAY. I am going in for surgery and my daughter is going to be left alone at home and I need her to have a phone to be able to contact me at the hospital if need be or in case of an emergency. I have tried all of the way that I have found on here to unlock this device and have not been successful. I cannot even get it Rooted. I tried with MotoChopper. I tried ODIN, King, and whatever the last one is. I have tried the *#0011# and it goes to the service menu but when I key in the number one, a screen flashes real quickly that says menu not exist. then back to the service screen. I do not know where to go from here. Can someone please assist me with a step by step tutorial on what needs to be done? I would be extremely grateful. I am standing by refreshing the page hoping for responses. Thanks!
I assume you want to sim unlock it? Do you know what firmware version you're on?

You're on nc1 firmware, look at your build number, it's the last three characters. Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54932702
You might have to down grade to nb1, idk for sure. If you have to there is an Odin flashable tar file in the general forum.

I tried everything in that thread also. I do not know how to downgrade. I also run a linux machine. i do not think that ODIN runs on Linux. Does it? Thank you for the rapid responses.

Odin won't run in Linux. You might be able to run it in a Windows vm. I'm not that familiar with Linux. Heimdall will run but I'm not familiar with that either. Sorry man. You could try Google and heimdall

Seems I am kind of screwed. Haimdall does run on Linux but it wont root my phone. it says that it did after I run it but then it's not. So weird.

Help me out guys,
Why do you need to root to be able to have daughter get ahold of you?
Why do you need to sim unlock? Are you on different carriers? Texting? etc
Can you get two prepaid phones that would work while in hospital?
Below links:
1. I used this to set up adb/fastboot on my iMac--need it to use Heimdall. I had some links to Heimdall, but must have deleted them. I can always use my son's Windows machine if needed--

Those are complicated procedures and take time to learn w/o breaking your phone which you don't want to do atm.
With sim unlocking which is for using phone on another carrier I have no exp with. But, thought Obama passed law requiring carriers to give you that info. Otherwise, maybe someone else has done it on your model or Google alot.
Again, I am confused on why you need to sim unlock or root--sorry--
Hope you get it sorted in time--:good:
