ATTENTION TO ALL: NoDo Threads Moving to General - HD7 Windows Phone 7 Development

Hi guys,
since many NoDo "How To" threads are burning and since i'm getting some complaints about how much they are, i have decided to move them to General HD7 forum, on another note i would have made it some time ago since they are only Tutorial threads and they have nothing related to development inside.
Thanks.
PS: you can reply to this thread as you want but i will delete it after some times.

This meant that i will delete threads after took note of the most importants, trolls, spam or whatever are useless, so deleted, i didn't mean to say" hey, i've the power here and i don't care about your replies".

LOL No bro, its all good. I didn't take it in that form. I understand we need to keep these threads clean and consistent with the topics. Otherwise we get way too much filler/noise and not enough information.
Thanks for all you do my brother, and please don't stop.
Take care.

Fed up with ppl posting question in the dev forum

Admin... mods...
Quite a few people of being plain stupid and posting non-dev related question/topics in the dev forum... it's kinda becoming a a mess...
no I don't blame the admin or mods... i blame the ppl doing this stupid thing... HELLO!!! can't u guys see "Development forum" and understand that it's specific to dev stuff???
BTW, if you guys need help with getting ride of crap like this, I'm ready to help!!!
Posts like this are just as annoying..
nothing really you can do to help.
They should change that stickied thread to state, "please post any question threads in the general section." or something like that. What it says now really doesn't mean anything to me.
This is coming someone who was once guilty of this act. As a noob to that forum I thought, "hey a development section, i got a question about development, guess it goes here. "
Its quite easy to see all of them are making this mistake.
They really need to just change it so that completely new threads need to be approved (not posts).

I'm sure the mods would love that idea /s
IMO people shouldn't take offense to a topic being posted in the wrong section. If I have a request for an app section I don't know if that goes in development, themes & apps, or general.
I think the best solution is to create more categories. "Questions/problems" "mods/hacks" "accessories" and maybe one specific to devs where they get some type of posting approval on their profile allowing them to post in a development section.
The categories are far too general to know exactly where every post should go, in my opinion.

Still new to the android phones, but was once new to this forum. For someone who doesn't really know where they're supposed to post it's an easy mistake.
The mods take care of this, trust me. They write in every locked thread and moved thread why it was moved, etc. This is just annoying. To me, this looks more like you are asking to be a mod than anything. But I see your view.

Yeah, they do... but it's really annoying when someone posts a "how to flash" question in the dev forum... and no, I'm not asking for mod powers [in fact I don't want mod powers]... quite frankly I visit this site just once or twice a day... to busy with demos at work... I just want to know all the ways we can avoid this... anything to help the "super-mods" on this forum... yeah stickies are there... but some ppl just act dumb and don't even bother to read the stickies...

Well. Seeing that you're very new to the forum "28th January 2010" you might as well just get used to it. It's never going to change. Welcome to the internet.

I may be new to this forum... (cuz I got my N1 just around that time... my first Android phone... and I never had any other phones for which this forum has threads.... but XDADev is a trusted, well known name...) I moderated MotorolaFans.com a couple of years ago, before I got too involved with office work, and I did have to deal with this crap there as well.
I guess ppl got the wrong impression from this thread (I think it's my fault, didn't word it correctly). I'm just looking for ways to make the mods' lives a little less frustrating... and to get crap outta the wrong forums ;-).
So basically, this thread was created as a way for you to not so subtly cry out that you want to be a mod. All this after only being on this forum for a few weeks. Gotcha.

Err... hello.... if u read my earlier posts... I said I DON'T want to be a mod... quite frankly, I don't have the time... and I'd land up doing a crappy job... I'm just saying, from personal experience, that a mods job isn't easy... and we, the users, need to contribute to keeping this forum clean...
Let me put this down properly...
1. I don't want to be a mod
2. I'm not doubting or complaining about the mods and the great work they do
3. There are only a few mods and thousands of users (that's some task)
4. We, the users, also need to help keeps things clean
So in short, what can I, as a USER, do to help improve this situation!!!

I dunno about you guy's but I LOVE how the mod's are cleaning up this forum

Lately XDA had turned into a garbage dump with a ton of question threads that clog up the N1 General section (instead of the proper Q/A section) of the forum that is dedicated to breaking news discussion. Get these random questions outta here!
It's a great feeling to me when I come back and I see more than half of the unnecessary threads on the front page moved to their proper forum.
Thanks moderators for cleaning this place up. Now if only I could do the same thing for my room...

Should have just swapped forum section titles, would have been quicker and easier than moving threads, but then I guess mods need something to do
btw, this thread is just as stupid and off topic as any that gets posted, This thread should be in the general off topic area as it has nothing to do with Nexus One

I figured giving the moderators, that keep the forum running smooth, a thank you for their hard work every now and then isn't as "stupid" as you make it out to be...
But your probably right though, with all the cracking down they are doing... this thread will probably get moved as well
Thanks again though mod's before it is.

No problem! This is to make things easier for you guys (and myself).. Again, don't take offense if your thread gets moved or closed, we want to kept the boards clean. I know people may take it the wrong way and think it's just us being power-hungry. Well I think we have better things to do than spending time moving threads around (but someone's gotta do it) or looking for a way to find work.

How long do the *moved* threads hang around and keep showing as moved? I love the cleanup thats been going on, but I wouldn't mind if the moved threads just vanished as soon as they are moved. Is there a setting I can change for this?

They could move without a redirect but then people wouldn't know where their threads went. Depending on which software they run they might be able to use expiring redirects, which would solve your problem. But the mods would have to remember to select expiring redirect every time they move a thread.
I agree, and this thread this to be cleaned up too.

[Q] Which NAND ROM delivers the best battery life before tweaking?

Which NAND ROM provides the longest battery life before tweaking with SetCPU and/or JuiceDefender? I would like to have peeps provide here their opinion or proof before I settle on a single ROM.

Hi,
I had a NAND ROM once.
I installed it, charged it to the Max, powered it down, and put it in the cupboard for a week.
And guess what. There was still some charge on it when I switched it on again!

Great, another "whats got bets battery life" topic, we have been running short on these and other circular never ending topics like them, lets all enjoy at the finality of the answers.
Go and try some roms and find out what has best battery life for YOU because what MAY have good life for us doesn't necessarily translate to best for YOU.

with reading, reading, reading. and with experimenting. with trying something out and not expecting it to be 100% perfect the first time i did it. not posting and expecting others to solve basics for me.
but i digress. so many threads about "best this" or "best that"...it seems that people are hesitating to experiment or impatient at that their first choice may not be the best answer.
anyways. blah blah.

That doesnt mean you cant point out the fact that its a rediculous topic to make because its already been made over and over again, In the least it will make the OP aware that next time he/she/himshe needsto use search or take a simple browse of the sections before cteating a topic (ITS ALSO IN THE RULES AT NUMBER 1)

Is this some kind of joke? Are you seriously asking this question?
I start the same place I would do on ANY forum...

Reading topics
All these "best" topics are completley useless other then to clog up the forum with useless junk, There is just too many of them and they always have the same answers. In some section they get closed/deleted by mods so its not as if we are complaining for no reason.
Anyway, Welcome to the HD2 forum some advice for you...
DO NOT create topics in the dev section, Its for posting dev releases/work/reference ONLY!
DO NOT create "Best rom" or "Best Battery" or any other kind of "best" topics as they will always get same response, "best" is subjective upon the user, The ONLY way to find the "best" is to try it yourself because best for you is not always best for us etc.
PS. Incase you wasnt aware, All XDA n00bs at registration are give this video to watch so they have absolutely no excuse creating topics that are going to be obviously a FAQ, Its just common sense, ANY question that a n00b can think of has very likely already been asked AND answered a million times already so all they have to do is take 2 seconds to look, its as simple as that.

OK so the new to the forum thing should have been new to HD2 forum. I have been following the galaxy S forum for last few months. so I know the basics..
but I don't want to go through tens of threads so the best thing would be to ask or look for best ROM topic..
yes it is irritating to read all the best ROM, kernel topics but that's what newbies like to know.. I think the solution would be add a newbie section.. so that the development section will remain clean.. or you could just stop replying to such threads... whats up with that? ?

new to android world , want to root :)

But honestly, Darkside had a point but maybe not presented in the best way. I guess some people are tired of answering the same questions when there are clear posts/threads about it that are also easy to find.
I'm a beginner as well but I tend to look for a solution myself rather than asking. But we are all different I guess.
Such is society. The world is full of people who would prefer to have information hand fed to them. No wonder many people cannot infer from information.

Your post explains EXACTLY where im coming from, thank you.
And the part about searching yourself is music to my ears.
yes, maybe i went about it the wrong way, i will admit that...BUT:
I know this isnt my forum, i have no say in anything on here at all...but its depressing having to read the same thing over and over and over - and all these threads do is push the good informative threads off the first couple of pages and makes it very hard to garner good honest information posted by people making a genuine effort to improve things for our phone.
Check the Q&A & General section, count how many ICS threads there are already...all talking about the same thing. Its like all of a sudden theres an influx of new members (probably young guys/girls) who are in a competition to feel part of something, and satisfy this need by posting threads on massive forums like this one without using the search function...that function is there for a reason, its mentioned in the rules and its just common sense to check if what you are about to post is already available...isnt it?
Maybe im completely wrong, maybe im looking at it the wrong way, but i now struggle to find anything of value on this forum because im wading through...well, you get my point....

I am not that clever, but I do know that Search & Read are the most valuable things to use this site. And if I am able to do it, then most can do as well.
I can understand if the Rooting and Flashing of ROMs was explained in a very technical way, but the posters have taken time to do step-by-step instructions. Okay sometimes for noobies it can still be confusing. I guarantee that if they read through that thread then they will have found someone already who asked that question for clarification (which will have been answered).
I am indebted to some very clever folk have developed programs or modified ROMs so that we can root and flash. And also to those who took the time to make the guides for us.
I only wish I knew how to go about learning about developing - it does seem to be a very steep learning curve.

How is he supposed to know what you have posted without reading it. You may have tried searching & reading but there was a problem with actually doing the rooting.
There are a lot of folks on here that English is not their first language, so may need help with following the instructions.
If you have learned to use the best thing on this site - the Search - then his reply was worth it.

Oooh. You got me there.
If you can't find the kernel in the development section you obviously must be too thick. USE THE SEATCH BUTTON.
Er, no I won't 'gtfo'
You get out with your pointless posts.
And with your attitude, no one is going to help you out.

Clearly you didn't use the search button, or you'd have found the answer quickly. Or if you bothered to check the stickies for the kernels, or read through the thread.
If the files have already been posted by the developer and confirmed working, why are you asking people if its 'safe'?
And yes, asking people to use the search button is useful, if you even bothered to read the XDA rules.

I have to agree with Olyloh6696 on this one. The advice given was quite acceptable. Everyday new threads are started for no reason when the info is already available. Some people just want to be spoon fed simple information. Maybe they are in a rush to solve their problem and decide why spend hours looking when I can just start a new thread and ask. Only problem is; hours of other peoples time is waisted looking at threads like this one.

You have a very cocky attitude. No one will want to help you in the future.
'Blow me' possibly the worst insult I have ever heard.
And you've used it twice before you edited your other post.
Ha.
