Is it possbile to do some reg tweaks to get the lights on the buttons working? The lights only come on when I press them...
When else would you want/need them to come on? Surely having them lit all the time would make battery drain even more of an issue than it currently is.

yes but your phone doesnt know when its dark and you want the lighs on and when its in your pocket or draw, battery drain would not be helped obviously but i doubt it would make a huge difference

It's pretty normal that the lights on the buttons of your phone are on when you use it, that's what I want, but if it's not possible so be it...

They should be on whenever the screen is on, surely. Having them only on while you're actually pressing a button is, of course, pretty useless. From what I've read, this is a known issue with the current HD2 WP7 ROM, right?

Yes, people, this is a known issue. On HD7, for exemple, when you press a button, the light remains for 10 seconds. On WinMo 6.5 and Android for HD2 this also happens, but not on WP7... I'm not sure if it will be fixed, as well with the camera, in future releases, just because of the drivers... but we can wait to see it

agreed, personally i doubt very much that any of the hardware "bugs" the HD2 running WP7 has will ever be fixed, but at the very least my HD2 has given me the option to try many different OSs, i now know what i want on a future phone, and since the issues dont really bother me too much ill stick with the HD2 until there is a new "king of phones" available.

Well this is basically a pointless thread other than to say I've read about bugs people are experiencing and all the threads about it.
Well this is the no bug thread. I have zero issues and think this is the best stock rom I've tried (besides trackball wake) and honestly even better than every custom I've tried. This will only make the new custom roms better.
Anyways please don't post if ya have bugs. This is the I got not a single bug thread.
FROYO ROCKS, even this isn't the real final release ( even though I don't see final any different)..
Like yourself, I'm probably one of the lucky ones that has not had any issues with Froyo.
I can't really comment too much on reception, I've noticed that the bars tend of fluctuate a bit more now, but the overall signal seems to have gotten slightly stronger.
I conducted a full wipe before I installed Froyo, so maybe that's a contributing factor to our overall positive experience with Froyo opposed to those who may have simply installed Froyo over their previous ROM.
I also have no issues with froyo. I'm very pleased with it. I just hope I get an update to the official build since i'm not rooted.
none for me that I know of.
very, very complete wipe before install.
I'm extremely pleased with the wifi performance, it's very fast, connects no problem to my usual spots without the hassle. And the better sound on phone calls.
No bugs for me! I'm completely stock, coming from ERE27. I didn't even wipe.
I can easily say this is the fastest android I've ever experienced!
Yeah there may be bugs on some of you mugs... but there ain't no bugs on me. =)

Zero complaints here. It's solid and I am getting good battery life. If you want trackball wake, you can add the Market app "No lock". The display will sleep but will wake on any hardware button push - vol up/down/trackball. No unlock required.

I'm not sure I would use the term "very stable". Stable maybe. But very, I don't think so. The 3 main issues I have are delay when waking from sleep, screen freezes and it occasionally not charging past a certain percentage.
Those are big enough issues that would keep me from calling it very stable. I barely am calling it stable with those issues and that's the best setup I've gotten after trying at least half a dozen Android ROM variants.
From my experience that is.

it means i've got no correctly knowledge once i start a new thread.
I`d switch to NAND right away if I could. Running an OS from the SD card is like running Windows 7 from your USB drive. Right now, Android System has used 66% of my battery and I find that a damn lot for an OS. If it`d be running from NAND, it would for sure use less battery, as it wouldn`t be necessary for Android to read and write on the SD card all the time.
Regarding the OP`s questions... I dunno about colour depth, but yes, both the "Power off" and "Reboot" options will be fully functional once NAND Android kicks in.

look at the picture
Because the human eye can not see, the camera can see; so we did not find

非常感谢你!!!!!!
What he likely is saying is that the led of the proximity sensor is on all the time in android while it is only lit in WM during a phonecall. If that is true, it is a potential battery drainer. With a camera you can see the infrared light, that is why he posted the piccas. Might be a serious issue, but I did not verify.
I don't think this is an issue as such, as infrared viewed with a camera is white... In them photo's, it's a vague red. I could be wrong though. Think this might need some dev input.
To prove the point, get a camera, and TV remote, and point and press a button of the remote to the camera. You will see it glow white !
hd2 orginal have two sensors but in the android onlyone work ! why?

Didn't mean to start an argument or anything, all I meant was going by his pictures, I couldn't really see much of the 'white' infrared you normally see in a camera.
But you say that it blinks, that would make more sense now - I have no way of testing it until I get home as i'm at work at the moment

It don't matter!
I know that this pictures is easy to suggest that it is false.
I just want to let developers know this BUG.
I'm home now, and i've tested it... And your right, the infrared is on in Android, and off in WM except when your making a call.
What i've forgot to test, is the infrared still on when the screens off in Android ?
I can't test at the moment as i'm currently putting a new WM ROM on, and then a new Android build on.
gsm127 - Them pictures aren't misleading. What I thought was infrared looks white through a camera, but it's not - It's actually a shade of purple (Like in your photos). Only thing is, is the infrared is on, and pulses every second. That also happens in Android !
Has anybody pointed this out to the dev's ? Do they read these sections ?

i guess its all about personal preference. i have WP7 on my HD2. simply put its clean, fast and amazing. battery consumption seems to be very good. though android is still the best in terms of flexibility/ease of use. i wouldn't sacrifice the OS for a mere battery percentage.
Install HTC Battery Tool and it will tell you the exact remaining battery along with all info you may ever want to know about your battery and much more
Greetings,
The one thing I have seen a lot of people complain here is about the hard keys on our phone wearing out. This is one of the major issues and i face the same problem. On Windows Mobile I rarely use the Hard Keys but on Android they are really used a lot. So my question to all you talented developers out there is..Cant a ROM be made specially for our HD2 with a soft key panel built into the screen ? which is available all the time !!
I know there are some third party apps like Buttonsavior...etc...but its not something which is as flexible as the soft keys in other phones....I have attached a screenshot to express what I mean.
isn't that what tablet tweaks from cm7 attempts to do? haven't seen if they work, personally.

This is something that is a native feature of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. So check the ICS ROMs and see if the ROM developer has turned it off or left it as a option for the user to decide. Also I know this ROM has it as a option.
Yea, as stated above softkeys in themselves are/can be present in all the ics as standard as the feature ics nexus itself doesn't have any hardware buttons (that i recall).
When I first read your question I thought you were enquiring about if the soft button panel could be present regardless of the state i.e when screen is off, which isn't done. In terms of being able to totally disregard the hard buttons there are proximity sensor apps (as well as some sound apps) that can be utilised to wake the device from sleep, I've used proximity screen off which works well, although i can't report as to using it affects battery life.

I do not think you can do this with a Gingerbread ROM because the onscreen buttons are not part of Gingerbread. But if you want to you can always try it and see what you can come up with. Also it is several launchers for Gingerbread that will give you the onscreen buttons, but I do not think they work with all apps.
