Have you stopped using Google Market for Amazon App Store? - Epic 4G General

I was wondering how many of you have decided to ditch the marketplace in favor of the Amazon App Store?
After using it, I have highly considered this option and may do so. To me, it is MUCH better than the marketplace and seems more user friendly.
Anyone jump ship yet?

Using both ATM.

Amazon is also good for getting adfree apps, like angry birds (legitimately, I bought it for a buck).
However, I agree with the above, mainly because Amazon can't detect which apps are installed and which need updating.

Yeah, I never sold it. The sale fell through. I'm going to get the EVO 3D and give my mom my Epic. So it'll still be in the family.

Free paid apps.
I myself have actually used it for that. When I see an app that is normally $2
or so and it's free, i'll grab it. However, I have seen a few free apps that seem to only have a 1 star rating, so who knows.
I hope they don't start off with some great apps then go downhill and offer nothing we want.
You never know, this app may take over the market. Very well possible as Amazon has been in the marketplace business longer than Google. I guess only time will tell.

Don't use it or like it

How do you get this app store? Can you virw and download from your phone?

this is what i'm doing too.

I primarily use google market, the amazon one is good for free paid stuff, I have another market that I use as well to test drive stuff (don't think i can mention it here though)
still though, no matter how many markets we have/use it's STILL way better than the iTunes lockdown LOL

Only problem with Amazon is the apps only work if the Amazon market is installed.

Yay whosdaman is still with us for now

I am using it to get their free apps, but I don't think it is as fast. I still use appbrain.com on my computer to browse through apps and load them later. I only go to the google apps store when I know what I am looking for or I need to do it on the fly.
My money was on Google and Amazon finally getting together and doing the app store up right with music and everything, but it looks like that is not going to happen with Google releasing their music store soon and Amazon having just released their app store. I ramble.
Epic with Syndicate Frozen ROM 1.1. I tried the rest and now on to the best.

Well it makes sense for amazon to lock down their apps. Sure everyone hates the idea, but understand their point of view on that. I mean you can't even remove the google market without root lol. So why don't you complain about that?

not to put blockbuster down, but it really just cant compete with the no added fee instant streams and the unlimited movie/month dvd's for only $9. The only thing that can compete is Redbox and its doing quite well(off topic) especially since redbox is currently beta testing game rentals in their kiosks here in Reno.
I hope they change the app to free or cheaper rentals cause I use blockbuster online like crazy. I love it cause I can exchange a movie in the store for a new release on tuesdays. Can't even get a lot of new movies from netflix.

[Q] gameloft games...

Hello everyone, not sure if this is the correct spot for this post but i wanted to know if any of you have purchased any games directly from gameloft. They are currently having a holiday sale where u buy a game for $4.99 and you get one free. Now to me that sounds like to good to be true but im still curious you know. They do have some pretty good games like N.O.V.A. and much more. Any feedback from you guys would be awesome.
Heres is the url where i found their website
http://wapshop.gameloft.com/us/spri...02=216209736754a7692829&from=ADID-21999&c=223
It's a legit offer if that's what you are asking. They have a lot of cool games but I usually just wait until they offer free games and then I download them. I was able to get Hero of Sparta and Let's Golf for free.
warning about gameloft, it was confirmed that they double charged lots of their customers that purchased a game from them, I didn't have a problem after purchasing Dungeon Hunter so its not an every customer problem but there are many still having issues getting refunds

join the marketplace gameloft, sheesh.
i bought asphalt 5 or something a while back and i dont think i get free updates, unless i buy it again.. aint that some BS?
gameloft doesnt deserve my money until joining.
I refuse to pay for games and apps...the phone was expensive enough..especially the stupid ten extra dollars a month for 4g (which has no coverage when you live way out in the sticks)
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I did this twice. The first time there was a "download free game" link that was displayed after i made the purchase, so that was easy. The second time I didn't get that same link. I ended up emailing them and they sent me a link for a free game. I personally haven't had any problems with them, but have only made 3 or 4 purchases with them since getting my EVO, so YMMV. They did take a while to respond to my email (5 or 6 days) but since it was around Christmas time I'll give them a pass on that.
I think they have some of he best mobile games around. Silly as it may sound but I'm after console like gaming and their games are about as close as you can get. Also, EA has a deal right now , .99 cents a game. That includes nfs shift, which imo is the best looking racer we have. I remember when games were 15 to 30 dollars for games, abiet, this was before the iPhone and Android application model existed.

A few apps offer slightly different, Kindle Fire-optimized versions on Amazon. Given the near-identical screen size, these work quite well with the Nexus. For instance, the Play Store version of the excellent rss reader Feedly is clearly for phones, while the version on the Amazon Appstore is Fire-optimized and looks much nicer on the Nexus. Presumably this will change over time as more people develop with the Nexus in mind.

Yes, there are two different apps being talked about BUT to respond to the above comment... the Amazon AppStore has a free app every day. Most days it is a crappy game but a couple times a month, they have something good on there for free. It is worth it to check daily for a good deal.

What's the best way to make a paid app?

Make a free version and a paid 'pro' version?
Make a single free app with in-app purchase that will upgrade it to a pro version.
I think the second way is more convenient because you don't need to handle two apps but I see the first case a lot more often on market.

I was asking myself that same question for months. I decided to go with your first option. I know most people are going to say that micro-transaction is the way to go now but I feel like its cheating the buyers out there.I recently bought a game for $3 and it also had micro-transaction as well. I paid for the game, dont want to keep on paying for perks that should be free.
I guess it just depends on the developer. What type of game are you looking into developing?

In all honesty, I see PAID apps on their way out by 2014. Everyone always goes for the lowest common denominator. So, the objective from a marketing standpoint would be to release only free apps and have them all have in-app purchases. Everyone will download something for free, and then without having to go back and download something else, they'll just tick the in app purchase box.
But, the pro apps that offer a lot will do just fine as paid.
IAP(In App purchases) have been the trend for a while now. I get your point about customers who rather download a free app over a paid app. In the long run customers will be spending more money on those free apps because of the IAP! I know someone who downloaded a free game and paid $40.00 for an IAP that gave him all the weapons and items.
I feel like if you have a good product, it will sell.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Also pro for 2 apps is they will give you 2x exposure on the play.
But if paid version only removes ads, will customers buy it?
You would need to add more features in the paid app to attract the customers to buying the game.
