[Q] [TUT] App2sd - XPERIA X8 General

Hello, maybe you have also collected the experience, with the error message that your memory is full. That is why I am seeking to found this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804574
This is a tutorial how to make your memory card for storage of your apps. That is the reason why I have now ask some people who maybe have been used this TUT.
1. Do I need a new memory card now? The class 2 is not sufficient for apps like angry birds?
2. Do I really need my phone to flash? Is not it enough that it is rooted out?

[Q] Which App2SD tutorial that add internal memory?

Hi to all readers.
Recently i have tortured my X8 through flashing with SEUS or restoring using xRecovery.
I once have the internal memory boosted to more than 500mb but at that time i use class2 sd which makes my nightmare comes to life (LOL)
Now after several try to my phone i would like to start a new fresh installed phone and would like to have big memory again.
Anyone can help me to find the tutorial to use App2SD which make my internal memory go big again?
I only found the method of App2SD which appear in Titanium Backup.
I want the one that did not appear in Titanium but have big internal memory.
Thank's in advance guys

[Q]Help required on Rooting Xperia Play

Hi All,
I have couple of basic question regarding rooting my xperia play. First of all i am not sure what i want is rooting only, so i will explain my problem, please let me know what i am trying to do is correct or not.
With the device, i got a dumb internal memory. I am a gaming freak, so downloaded most of the games and apps. So now i m running out of memory(Internal + SD card).
Today i purchased 16GB card over 8GB, which solved one problem.
Another problem is with the Internal memory. only 30MB is free currently.
1) Somewhere i read that if i root the device, i can force move all the applications to the SD card. so i decided to root. Is this the only solution?
2) I am following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043630
thread for rooting, can you please let know the OS image mentioned in there is the latest?
3) If there are multiple flavors of OS for xperia play, can you please let me know which the best OS to flash?
Thanks,
Harsha

@AndroHero:
Thanks for your help. It really helped me a lot. With the help of App 2 SD i moved all possible apps to SD. Now internal memory has 130MB free.
I have some more questions,
1) After i move any game to SD, i could still see its presence in internal memory but in few KB's. Is this the data of my progress in that game?
2) How to move already pre-installed games to SD? Also a game called "Crash......" i want to un-install.
3) Going forward, with installing new games and apps, i may run out of internal memory again, that's the time to root?
Thanks,
Harsha

1. Not too sure but I know it leaves a footprint in your internal memory.
2. Use Titanium Backup to remove them and then reinstall the apk to force them to the sd card. I did this with fifa, sims, etc.
3. Yes

There are several ways to create more space. The first one is deleting some apps but I don't think you want that.
If you have room on your SD card, place some apps on the SD card. You can do this with several apps like 'app 2 sd'. Since you are a beginner this is probably the best way to do it but you can also use a script for this. Most custom roms have this but you have to read the instructions on the particular roms thread on how to operate it.
Not exactly what i wanted

But others have like 400 - 300 mbs of free space on the same rom. I want to know what is wrong with my rom or installation. I have experiance in android and the lg optimus one, just no this phone. I know we can install link2sd but I want that 400 mb
First possibility, they have a device with 1024 MBytes storage, as i understand, this is the american version of HD2 (LEO1024).
Otherwise you must use A2SD or Link2SD.
I prefert the last one, because you have an influence, which APPs will be moved to the SD card.
Sounds like maybe you made too large system partition. Example, if your instructions says it needs 150mb partition, and you create 250mb partition, you LOSE 100mb of storage space, because storage is calculated on what is left AFTER the system partition is created.

Best way to save free space? Symlink to external sdcard?

Hi guys,
What would be the best way to conserve the free space on my Razr M (XT907, 4gb ) while using your Safestrap software? Without having to restore over the Stock rom slot?
I currently have a 32gb external SD card installed in my phone that I am hardly making use of, which is silly. I seemed to have quickly maxed out my phone’s internal SD card 0 shortly after installing a Eclipse mod and snapping a few pictures/videos and installing GTA3 (large game). As simple as this task sounds, I have been unable to find clear instructions online on how to free up my space.
Maybe would there be any way to symlink the entire /safestrap directory to my external SD card? How about changing the default location that my apps are saved or installed to? I am comfortable connecting via ADB and making changes in Linux if necessary.
Thank you!
jskup
EDIT - ok, Eclipse Mod 1.1 doesn't have the best camera app, no configuration to save pictures to external SD

I use a free app that you can find in the Google Play Store called Link2SD. But first you will need to create a partition on your SD card. d33ps1x one of XDA's Senior Members was awsome enough to place a tutorial on the forum already. Here is the the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459
The title is
[TUTORIAL][Link2SD][ROOT]Updated! How to prep your SD card for it...Windoze Style
To do the actual partition on my PC I used a program called Mini Tool Partition Wizard v7.8. You can find it on line and get a free download. Just follow d33ps1x's instructions and u should be fine.
I was able to make a 4.5gb partition on my 64gb SD card that Link2SD automatically "links" downloaded apps to the partition and frees up the space on the internal memory.
Good luck. Hope this helps.
PS: Again all credit to d33ps1x

Did your format ext2?
Have you had any instability? At all? Have you tried this with Safestrap?
Thank you,

Space is all I want!

Hi all, so to start with, as the title says im constantly running out of space on the FN model 2015, so ive dived into the forum looking for help. First thing i tried was the sd card hack to combine my 64gb sdcard with the 8gb internal. Harra! it worked, but then i still run outa space as it dosen't seam to to use the sdcard space as i had hoped. It's like it just copys some of the data from the apps to the SD card like normal but without having to go into the each app and selecting external sdcard. Kinda thought no probs I'll download a custom rom with no samsung apps and with a min gapp giving me as much storage space i could get. I can't see one, starting to think there isnt one. So my question is, is it hard for me to take my backup of my stock rom and strip what I can out bearing in mind I'm a bit of a noob and have to follow instructions from the clever ROM makers? not to bothered about increasing the speed and looks just the space. Would be able nice to update them without having to delete a few and re-install the ones I deleted. Any advice on what coarse to take would be great. Maybe theres a ROM I've mist I could use and give thanks for?
Cheers

Hi,
Instead of using Adoptable Storage, make 2 partitions on your SD, 1 FAT32 for photos, music, documents and another EXT4 for apps data. Use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd , i tested it.
You can make 2 partitions using PC or with TWRP Recovery.

Thanks for your reply! I went down the apps2SD route in the end. Kinda mest it up a bit but have free'd up nearly 1gb of space so thanks, that's more than enough! %) I ended up partitioning the SDcard and linking all the apps I'm not interested in, excel,Skype,Samsung etc. Anyway what i didn't realise was that i had mest the other part of the partition up. Ended up re-formatting the SDcard in recovery back to normal and those apps I didn't want 90% of the data of those have now been wiped %)
