[Q] qTek S100 improvements - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hello guys!
I own a qTek S100 that was once a TMN cell phone, but now is unlocked and is using a Vodafone Portugal sim card. As you know, the phone is equipped with the Windows Mobile 2003, and its version is:
4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0)
The ROM of the device is:
1.12.00 WWE
What do you, experts, advise, to improve this cell phone, and make it even better than it already is?
Apps, ROMs, and everything you know better than I do, are welcome!!!
Thank you in advance!

You can try Cotulla's Wm6.1 ROMS
and you can also trash that racist vodafone scumbags and pick a real SP

Thanks for your answer, Riki! I never thought about that connection! Quite interesting!
Anyway, I'm a bit afraid of trying Cotulla's ROM because perhaps it wouldn't work, and then I'd lose my cell phone.. Do you think it's safe to try it? Isn't there too much of a risk?

I guess, you just live to follow and understand instructions given by Cotulla to succeed to flash ROMS Wm6.1

Well, thanks.
Lately, my qTek is facing a problem. I don't have any call sounds. I can't hear people talking to me, and neither can I hear the call tones when I'm calling someone. All the other sounds are audible.

I have the 1.12.00 version. Is there any higher than that?

I have that problem too on my 2nd hand Magician, I've bought it that way because I'm using this a test device.
------------
------------
About the radio version, I recommend you continue to use 1.12.00, I have it instead of 1.13 because Cotulla ROM's only work on 1.12 and since I'm always changing between 6.1 and wm2003, I always leave it with 1.12

Thanks.. Since I hear all the other noises, it's probably the call-speaker that is malfunctioning.. Anyway, since the last time I came here, that speaker came back to life and now is dead again, so, I just carry a pair of headphones on my pocket, that I use whenever I want to call or answer people.. It's a bit annoying because the wires keep tangling up, but has its advantages..
If you flash Cotulla's ROMs, you can then return to WM2003?
And besides those ROMs, what more do you advise me to do?
I have at home one of those Samsung Vodafone 360 M1, which was offered to me by a magazine to which I collaborate. But that SO (LiMo) is buggy as hell, so, it's now in my desk, on my room, with no use.. And with 90% of my contacts, because I couldn't find a clever way to pass them to the qTek again..

Speaker back to life!

Another doubt. My cell phone now periodically shuts down my calls, at 8 minutes.. What can I do? How can I solve this?

My qTek is now doing Hard Resets every day, with no apparent reason. What do you think it's causing this?

Sorry about the late reply, but Android is now the king! anyways that also happens to me, it's because of a red switch located on the right side of the phone, when you remove the battery.my solution was to put a piece of paper so it doesn't hard reset.good luck!

I had this same problem years ago. The device has two speakers. One at the back for the multimedia purposes and the other one at the top front for hearing calls. The front speaker got damaged and i had to get it replaced at a local shop. Then it worked like a charm!
And that ROM works.

thx for the links
i come to the conclusion that the best rom is the one that comes with the device from the manufacter.i instaled wm5 from htc an the phone works great in compare with ani other mw6 rom that i tryed from diferent rom cookers.
if you have any sugestion in what rom should i try it is welkomed.

I can not recommend any ROM to you, it would be against my principle - flaming noobs asking about "which ROM?", "what ROM version?" and so on.
I can only tell you that fastest ROMs are the ones based on WM6.1.
The rest is up to your needs.
ya thx for the answer.
wm5 much faster

He was not mocking, it's just a saying, I was trying to show you "the way". But hey, it's a free world, everyone is entitled to their opinions, I know I have tried all WWE ROMs from WM5 to WM6.1. Have you?
i did not tryed all off them.i trayed 15 and none of them was good.
i tested various apss on wm5 and wm6 and i did not see ani diference in the performance off the apss.now i wana try the official wm6 from dobod to see how is it.
the batery consumtion in wm5 is much lower than in wm6,probapli because it uses less ram.
maybee i do no how tu configure it.

[Last: 3.34.90] [Poll] Artemis Radio Roms (GSM Upgrade)

Hello,
I've decided to make this thread regarding the Artemis Radio ROMs.
Made a compilation of all Radio ROMs that i found on this site.
I will try to always update this thread according to the new ones availlable.
Allways remember that new Radio ROMs aren't allways better that the older ones. You have to try them out and see if it "fits" to your using.

*MOD EDIT* Thread moved.
Well since today I'm using 03.18.90
Can't really tell at this moment which on is the best.
I'm with radio 03.18.90 at the moment. I only have it for two weeks, but i notice even less battery drain. For reception and all connections, all working perfectly. I'm very impressed.
I had before:
03.07.90 - I think it was good in GSM and battery drain. No probs at all
03.08.90 - Didn't liked it. Too mutch battery drain, but also good in reception
Cheers
Axpion

Using 3.21 very good. with 3.18 was having GSM problem. Regarding battery. seems normal, maybe better than 3.18
Hi all
I don't understand what is radio rom. Anyone can explain me what does it brings to Artemis, and how to update roms on SPV M650 ? Should I use USPL,
? does it implies hard reset ? Could I update the radio rom without uninstalling cooked rom ?
Thank you so much !

Yes, you have to use USPL before.
Radio ROM only upgrades the communications of you PDA. GSM, Wifi, Bluetooth... To better reception and less drain battery for example.
You don't need to Hardreset and you won't loose any data.
You can install Radio ROMs with any cooked ROM or any ROM installed.
Cheers,
Now I can see the light
Thank you

Hmm with the last 3 Radio ROM's the battery holds it only for 2 days. In a previous thread which I can not find anymore someone had something about a RadioRom which kept the battery working for 4 days....
Which one was that?
That allways deppends on the use that you give to your device...
Taking me has a example... Sometimes my battery lasts 6 days... Because i only made just a couple of phone calls and send/receive a couple of SMS.
It all deppends... Just try them all and see wich one is better for your use...
Cheers

Well I do not use my phone that much but it only will last for 2 day maximum
tested 03.21.90 and then 03.18.90
03.21.90 uses slightly more battery, so using 03.18.90 now
Dutch T-Mobile or BEN 03.06.90
The best radio rom for the Dutch T-Mobile network and also BEN is the 03.06.90. I changed my rom to many radio roms with Telfort network I had never any problem with losing contact with the network. Since I switched to BEN I have nothing else then problems. I checked the radio rom from the last release of T-Mobile NL and found that they use 03.06.90. I flashed my radio rom again and untill now 12hrs I have no problems anymore. Normally I had right away problems wihtin an hour. I hope this information is helpfull for somebody with the same problem!
I'm using 02.98.90 - average battery life is 3 days. If I don't use it at all and have no backups running at night it last for 5-6 days. Reception is good and haven't found any reason to upgrade.

Hi Kaleyn,
I was having the same problem on xp with sp3, i was getting error 270 and it was driving me mental. remove the memory card and then use uspl to remove CID protection, let it go to 100%, you said your screen then goes white, on my Artemis, I was once shown the linux duck but for the most part the screen goes black. at this point it loses sync with the pc, the green icon goes white on the pc showing its no longer synched, ignore this and do not reset your phone. Instead close down uspl and open the rom update utility. your phone is still in sync with the pc but by doing a reset it messes it up. trust me it works, i have flashed my phone loadsa times now without any problems.
So when USPL is at 100% and your screen goes white, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE, just close USPL and open RUU and update and then like magic it should have uploaded your new rom and you'll be a happy bunny

Solução para o Error 270
Finally I got it.
For those who have not yet managed to do the following:
1 USPL;
2 when finishing the USPL, let the screen stay in black / white and wait a while to restart the PDA. Is not seen, but the PDA is connected;
3 without touching the PDA or disconnect the USB cable, run your favorite ROM.
RC
--------------------------------------------
1º USPL;
2º quando acabar o USPL, deixar que o ecra fique em preto/branco e aguardar um tempo que o PDA reinicie. Não se vê, mas o PDA está ligado;

If u have off rom wm5 + off updater it can be wm6.1/5.
If no = no update
Hello ASakovoy,
I know how you feel... At least WM 5 will be supported for a little while longer. I've been trying to upgrade a WM 2003 iPAQ (Next to be dropped from support). It is hard finding upgrades for these machines.
Since HP never issued an upgrade for the rx5900 series you will have to try your luck Googling for ROMs. Someone may have cooked one for your device. I've found that lots of persistent searching is better to get results than just asking and hoping someone who knows finds your request. Sorry, the searching really is up to you. I hope you have better luck than I have had so far.
HP does have Tom Tom 6 Western Europe for download still:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...cc=us&swItem=ip-48733-1&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
I assume it is in ENGlish. You may want to download the file and save it on your PC.
Another option to look at is getting Linux to boot on your device. Most likely you would boot into Linux from an SD card - rather than flashing your ROM. Then you could choose between WM and Linux as needed.
That too appears hard to accomplish. Your device has a similar processor to my rx3115. They both use the Samsung sc3244x cpu with an ARMv4T instruction set. More work has been done (both for WM and Linux) for Intel and Texas Instrument cpu's...
But if you look around enough you might find some options.
Good Luck.
Can't really help with what your asking but would like to make one suggestion for improvement. I'm able to use an 8GB SDHC card with my RX5915 using the hack in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344338
Only problem I have with the hack is having to do a soft reset to get the card recognized again after the unit shuts off.

Hello RumoredNow:
Thank you for your contribution. look at the link Tom Tom 6.
to me is more important now to get a WM6 or more to serve my "ipaq".
Or all windows mobile (wm6 to wm6) are the same, removing the language, and little else?
supports my "ipaq" a wm6 or wm6.5?
how do I install on my sd card?

Hola RumoredNow :
The answers are never easy, I'm finding out...
You may want to look at my thread of what I've been going through to try and upgrade an old iPAQ:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981868
Are you asking how to install a ROM flash from an SD card?
To upgrade your OS off the card?
First you need someone who has a compatible ROM. That's what you have to search for.

Hi RumoredNow , I'm reading all your lengthy post, with the difficulty that my English is very bad and usually need a translator (google translator), so the translation is not perfect, and therefore the understanding is more complicated.
And it is clear that the important thing is to find a wm6 rom or above compatible (or a cooked wm5.1 ...).
The other day I saw a video on my ipaq and I see that has features that I do not see in my Poquet ... so I think it's a cooked wm5.1 version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py1d3imfb9u&feature=player_embedded
If it is true that is cooked, it means that deveria be a there to download ... where? that is the question .....
SORRY......I saw a problem in the direct link of the video.
to see him, I'll put the link before and so you just have to click on the video where it says:
http://wn.com/iPAQ_iPhone_is_possible!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py1d3imfb9u&feature=player_embedded
LOL - I have seen that video. That is my iPAQ model series (rx3000) they show on there.
That is not an Operating System. It is just a dressed up display to LOOK like iPhone.
It is only eye-candy. If you take your dog and put a child's costume on him so he is dressed up like a cat - he will still BE a dog and ACT LIKE a dog. Same thing. You just dress the iPAQ in the costume of iPhone, but it still would BE WM 5.

I Own an rx 5910. I have done quite a bit of research and so far I can tell you that: there is no possibility NOW of upgrading it to wm6. . Actually it seems that most probably it will never happen: to have wm 6 on rx 5900 series. If you are interested, I could post two or three links of threads in this forum and elsewhere that make this very clear.
In the youtube post you make above, there are many videos involved and am not sure which one you are referring to. If it is the one on voice commands on rx 5910, you simply have to get voice to go. I have it installed in my iPAQ and from time to time I do use it when am driving.

It could happen if someone could get rx5000 Series ROM update files.
As they are available to repair and service centers. Example [here]

Hi, I saw the link, and promise the latest version of Windows Mobile to put ... but it is an ambiguous answer, because if it does not support anything more than wm5.1, they charge you 27 euros for walking the ipaq (for nothing )....

Yes, maybe you're right, but if it seems it is impossible to upper windows, our iPAQ's, we would have to ask whether we settle for a custom rom of wm5 ... ..
even so, do not give up ..

They have a WM5 ROM, but it means that iPAQ update files for rx5000 Series does exist and if I could get those files - most likely I would be able to make a WM6.1 or WM6.5.x ROM.
Hey now Spiaatie - if you're taking requests...
I've been trying to find someone who can cook a ROM for iPAQ rx3115 (straight Pocket PC - no phone). Samsung sc32440 CPU @ 300 mhz. 64MB RAM 32MB ROM...
I have the last update of WM 2003.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/i6k0935chhkgzlh/iPAQ rx3115 ROM 1_01_11.exe
There are a lot of rx3115 owners dying to upgrade. If you cooked a WM 5 of 6.1 ROm for that device I would make sure to spread your fame both far and wide.

Sorry to say, but it's not possible. WM5 needs at least 64MB ROM. And there is no WM5 kernel for iPAQ rx3115 - only HP can make it. Windows CE4 and CE5 have completely different memory managament.

Theoritically I could make a new ROM, but I still need shipped ROM.
Now I can't do anything, because there is NO ROM file for rx5900 Series iPAQs.

There is no use of your ROM, as update loader software also is needed.

HTC Gratia?

Hello Guys.
I live in Portugal and I'm interested in turning into Android. I have found a quite interesting HTC in my local dealer. Although it looks like an Aria I'm not sure if it is the same model. Here they call it HTC Gratia. It is very similar to my old HTC HD mini in terms of specs and appearance. Here is the link, I hope you can clarify me wehter or not the Gratia is actually an Aria. From what I have found they say that the Gratia has a little bit more of RAM than the Aria.

Yes the Gratia and the Aria are both "HTC Liberty" devices. If the Gratia you are looking to purchase already has Android 2.2 (Froyo) installed on it, beware that there is currently no software solution to permanently root the device.
Thank you for the prompt reply.
So you are saying that I won't be able to swap ROM's right in case I buy the Gratia correct?
Also, does the RAM availability (supposedly larger on the Gratia) is a true fact?
Regards

If the Gratia comes with Android 2.2 installed, then you will not be able to swap ROMs.

The Gratia* (A6380) does not have more RAM than the Aria (A6366). It's identical except for what 3G frequencies it supports. All versions of the HTC Liberty have 384MB RAM.
It's not possible to flash custom recovery onto the Gratia without using special hardware. This is because all Gratias have the newer HBOOT installed -- the same one that makes it impossible to flash custom recovery onto the AT&T Aria after installing the official 2.2 update. The hardware method used for downgrading the HBOOT on the Aria should also work on the Gratia.
* The A6380 is marketed as Aria in some regions, but most of the world calls it Gratia.
Boas,

Hello,
From what I saw the HTC Gratia is the European version (at least Portuguese) HTC Aria.
I bought several months ago my Aria, there was not the free in Portugal.
I'm very pleased, came with the Android 2.1 which is enough to change rom.
However, in Porto there is a store that has the XTC clip that disables security NAND (S-OFF).
Just make sure that the HTC Gratia is supported by XTC clip.
Hum I see...
The thing is I really like the Gratia for its size. But I don't want to be downgrading it with hardware... I have just been in the thread of the downgrade and I it seems like someone is willing to try to crack the damn thing right? Of course if it is worth it I'll donate like I did on some older HTC's on other parts of the forum I hope it really isn't that complicated to find the code...
There's also the possibility to buy a Hero, but I dont like trackballs
