I am looking for some help with porting over AOSP!
Please offer any suggestions about porting over problem apps, of if you know how, please do so and post them up! I want this to be as much as a community effort as possible!!

i tried to donate but im having trouble with pay pal. this is exactly what i want. dont mind the touch wiz dialer/ contacts. but the mms needs to go. if you could get with eugene and mod the touchwiz launcher that'd be cool but launcher2 is good too.

And a simple one at that: How difficult would it be to restore the AOSP theme to the notification bar and the rest of the UI? I've tried hacking framework-res.apk before, and failed miserably, so either my google-fu has failed and/or I can't read a howto, or it's more difficult an undertaking than I realize.

awesome, let me know how it goes. I have just found 1 error so far. Got a FC on the contacts, but when I opened it again it was fine. Let me know if you have any other issues.

Great job.
It is just amazing this rom has now survived two devs who bailed on it(for good reasons, not hating).
1.) Again as with the others fast fast fast and with the OC/UV kernel and running everything as ext4 its smoking fast
2.) love the new framework mods, very gingerbready
3.) New market is freaking awesome!
4.) did i say fast!
The only thing i could think of would be the new swipe that is out. But i know some people dont use it so i am not going to harp on a personal preference!

I dont know what was up with the Market when TB was running but all is good as of now i will test GPS on my way home from school tonight and let you know how that goes! Great job man i have loved this rom from the start and it just keeps getting better!

man, awesome timing....just did a roundabout with the darky's JPU that's based on 2.2.1 and after hours of going through the long install it still paled in comparison to aospMOD
i dont think people realize how amazingly fast this ROM is here.....in fact, there was a version of 1.0 that was linked in the original thread by a guy named tim that incorporated setiron's kernel into it and i'll be damned if i ever find anything as fast as that ROM
i'll give this one a go, though....apparently if you give it the ol' circle-jerk thread title people will actually download it

just a word of polite criticism, btw
the theme on this thing is better suited to black notification bar themes
i never updated to 1.1 on aospMOD for that reason alone (he did a similar theme with the green battery, etc etc).....the plain ol' vanilla theme with black icons is as good as it gets.

Hey is it possible that you could change the theme to the stock gingerbread themes? I tried flashing the zip found in the themes section but theres a few errors that show up.

pretty sick rom! im liking it. but i have a question and a bug. is there a boot up video or anything? cause after the black gti9000 screen, my screen goes black. and the video camera forecloses. please fix the camera! thanks! but overall, good work! keep it up!

Why do I have to be on a 6 hour road trip right now? Argh!

Thanks for the feedback. I will look at the camera today. I was not having any errors, but it should be an easy fix. The bootani, yeah when I loaded it last night it appears that the one I snagged just had the initial boot screen, and nothing else. Will get this fix soon. Thanks!

great rom...just did some gps nav and the tracking was great...it was only about 4 miles and 6 turns but tracked perfectly in first test.
the one thing i am missing is the ability to SPEAKNOW.
Is there a way to enable or reinstall (specifically the speaknow microphone is gone from google search bar and is gone from where i used it even more frequently Google Nav).
nevermind just had to reinstall voice search from market and it restored

hey everyone, I am about to release my rom (swag squad) and I was just wondering what features people REALLY want to see.
If you could just post what features you want to see I'll try and include every feature in the rom.
I know this may seem like a stupid thread but I think developers can be much better if people just tell them what they want.

Haha. at this point the rom is going to be 2.2 until a stable version of gingerbread is released for one of the "new"droid phones (Dx, D2, D2g, Dpro).
I am working on status bar controls on the pull down. Like on cyanogenmod and MIUI.

The rom will be themed and it will have totally different icons than AOSP because in my opinion the AOSP icons are ridiculous.
The rom is based off of gummyjar right now but I will soon convert it to being based off of fission (gummyjar was originally based off of fission also). If tanzite turns out to be a completely stable AOSP alternative I will consider basing it off of that but at this point I have my doubts.
I am going to include the stock AOSP keyboard along with an HTC sense keyboard themed to look like the MIUI one and the controls in the status bar will not be released alongside the beta but should be out once the rom itself is out of beta.

I'm not too worried about themes as I have a set 'theme' I kinda patch in to every rom I run but a black status bar with white text would be good as the default imo. Not sure if any of these would make it but here's a few things I would like to see:
Gingerbread Keyboard as main kb - The latest release of it as a standalone addon works very well on the D2 and the shrink effect is now gone
AOSP Lockscreen sliders
You mentioned the status bar icons already, but I'd love to see those in a rom on the D2
Have none of the google apps installed to the system by default, let users install them from the market or backups
And the impossible one for last!!! A battery manager that doesn't force close 50% of the time!

I have a few suggestions:
1. A charging light would be much appreciated, half the roms out there dont have it and its really an issue for me as I always think my phone is not charging.
2. Use the latest ADW (If that is what you are going to use), I dont like installing a new ROM and not having the choice to add or subtract screens or changing any launcher settings.
3. Have an alarm clock in by default. One of the main reasons I use fission is because I can still use the blur alarm with it, as I am not really impressed with any other alarm clock on the market.
4. Speed is always nice but without blur these phones run pretty smooth so im not too worried.
5. Make it work. This is kinda general but I just want a rom that I dont have to fiddle with to make it work. I agree with an above poster to leave everything out and just let us install it but things like the camcorder, GPS, USB etc are things that should work out of the box I dont want to have to wait for a new release so I can find my way through town.
Finally, thanks for helping out with these phones. I had to go to stock (Blur) for a little bit the other day and it just kills these phones people like you make me happy that I dont have to deal with a slow ass phone after spending 200 dollars on it.

One version of the rom will come out with a black status bar and one will come out with a white. Neither of them are the stock black and white bar but modded versions.
I will try and include the GB keyboard and I didn't know it worked by itself. If you or someone could post a link to it I will include it as soon as I can. I also include a MIUI themed HTC keyboard which I think works incredibly well.
The rom dosen't include battery manager because of force close issues but under settings-about phone-battery use- you can see all of the things that have been using up the battery in the same way.
I think it will have the GB sliders at the beginning once it is released but soon after I will switch over to stock AOSP sliders with a blue option.

2: personally, I am a HUGE launcherpro fan but I understand that a lot of people don't like having to pay $2.99 for the extra features and the free version isn't that great so I may end up including ADW launcher+launcher2

Try basing it off of Ultimate Droid for D2 when the final stable is released. It's AOSP and RC2 is running damn well on my D2, minus GPS and camcorder.

i wish there was a way to get the iphone keyboard i know the market has lookalikes but they dont perform like the real one (thats the only thing i like about iphones btw) or to stick with android it would be fantastic to get the dinc sense keyboard if there was some way to make it work.

1: I will end up basing it off of fission but the first release will be from gummyjar2.1
5:the rom should 'just work' and I would never release some crap that people have to work on forever for it to look good and run well because I hate those roms also.

Iphone keyboard would be hard because it uses a different file type for applications and I would have to spend forever porting that over and I would probably need to finish learning java and the android APIs (which I am working on).
The sense keyboard is a themed droid inc keyboard and it will end up using the gingerbread keyboard and the sense keyboard will be a second option.

i would love to have status bar controls on the pull down!!!, oh and rotary lock screen, thats pretty much all i would like, it should be smooth, fast, and sleek

status bar controls are not the easiest thing to port and it won't be there on the first release but should be there pretty soon after.
I would usually be totally up for anything a user want EXCEPT for rotary lockscreen.
Sorry guys but rotary lockscreen is not going to be featured in swag squad because personally I hate how it looks. sorry
Right now I am converting the base of the rom to fission. I would release the rom right now except for my website and paypal donate are not up and I want those things to be up before IU release the rom.

I'm almost done moving everything over to the fission base, I just have to make the black status bar theme and then test it out.
I will work on my website tonight and hopefully I can finish it by the end of tomorrow so I can release the rom.

All my requests have been slowly added to various ROMs so far, except one. Notification power controls would be absolutely amazing. The one feature I've never seen on a D2 ROM that I want a lot.

Well I just finished moving it over to a fission base so that is all i am working on

It should be very fast especially since it is based off of fission which is just about as fast as roms get on the DROID2.
Battery life should be decent as well.
Gingerbread is not really my thing but there should be a fair amount of gingerbread apps included.

used bamfs 1.6.3 framework in some areas, mine in others. credit to him for the animations and other smoothness thats been added. credit to bgill for the location icon removal. credit to adrynalyne for the wake on volume key press, credit to jcase for radio settings in settings. thanks to dsb and dhemke17 for general support and issues i had as well as all the other posts and developers.

STOCK kernal. choose which you prefer. i use imoseyons
[!]removed a lot of the apps and widgets. call it debloat if you want, i made the /system/ as free as possible. no facebook twitter most widgets etc. removed some sounds, all live wallpapers, all vzw apps
its lightly themed. its mostly green with some blue; high res icons.
i took most of my icons form Darkslide 4.2 for the DroidX, the Radioactive Theme for the Droid X, Gingerbread icons, Icons from torrents pirated on the bay, i think Liberty 1.5 for the DX, and some personally altered ones. other than the personally altered ones i take no credit, and for those, i also want no credit. Go to droidforums or droidxforums to find those themes i mentioned.
i kept rosie and also added launcher pro as i prefer that.
in the future i plan on themeing the browser, messaging app, gmail, and settings to mesh with the theme more.
also, credit goes to my cat, Sophie, the chicken. had she not hid under the sofa for three days when i got her, i may never have came up with a name for her, or this rom

Where could I get the alternative battery meter that you use or others if you have them. Great job on this ROM ive been tweaking and playing around with my home launcher for a couple weeks so I appreciated the launcher Pro packaged in with it

Whoa my ROM is still getting hits! LOL.
Switch to gb man. I can't bring myself to cook up my own gb ROM bc I've already used bamf n I'll never beat that.
Just go into framework n pull the png files I used. I got the idea from an old dx ROM, darkslide. I took out n added a few details, but my ocd needs to see 1% increments now along w other cool features the new roms have.
Maybe it's time I do make another..

When you do, if you do I will definitely give it a shot. I stopped using gingerbread radios because for some reason they never lock onto GPS right. And I couldn't find a way to get Gingerbread from chewing up my battery so bad. Froyo roms are good for battery at least for me.

i need a little help, i love roms but i dont love some of the layouts and what nots
but ive been strongly looking at miui and it looks really really nice but i wanted another opinion, what rom would you recommend?

i went from liberty to stock gb for a list of small reasons
(not to say liberty isnt awesome)

Isn't the camera limited to 8MP with no widescreen capability? That was a show stopper for me when I tried it a couple of months ago

I am currently running MIUI 1.9.16.1 and I just love it. I have also used Liberty and CM7. Both are great but I love the battery life, customizability and smoothness of MIUI.

I just installed Cyanogenmod last night and I love it. It's fast, seems stable, and has tons of customization options. I also liked Liberty, except for the pee yellow color (I'm sure there's a theme to change that), but I wasn't a fan of MIUI. It looked very polished, but it was like some weird iPhone wannabe, and wasn't as smooth or fast as Cyanogenmod.

Which version of CM7 are you using. I'm thinking of trying it out but I'm not sure which nightly to go with.

Dunno, mine is pretty good. I also use Juice Defender which helps.
Liberty had decent battery life, but CM7 sucked when I was using it. May be they fixed it in the latest updates.

The mod version is 7.1.0-RC0 and the build number is GRH78C.

I'm personally on Liberty 0.9 Gingerbread.
While it's great for a Beta ROM, it hasn't been updated in a LONG time, and there are still some outstanding bugs that are starting to get a little annoying. It turns out one of the Devs left, and the other was planning on working on a version of the ROM called Justice based on CM7. I'd use it any day over stock, but I'd love to see some work done on it.
It looks like the DX is reaching the end of it's development sadly, too bad it didn't have a run like the OG Droid.
Anyway, for those of you using CM7, is there anything that's still not working?
Last I read, things like GPS still weren't working, which in all honesty is completely unacceptable for me. My phone is my "every" device; MP3 Player, GPS, Phone, etc etc.
How's the battery life on CM7? It's not great on Liberty, but maybe my battery is getting a bit old.

I'm running CM7 on my X and my GPS works good, and my battery life is much better than GB was... charges almost twice as fast as that blurry rom I was on as well.

Then Kejar left and the team went to hell.
Liberty 0.9 is still a DECENT rom though.
Try it out if you're used to the stock experience.
But if you're feeling brave...
I was a FIRM believer in CM7 for a long while.
PROS
-Adjust screen brightness by swiping the status bar
-Take a screenshot by holding power until the option comes up
-Change songs by holding the volume button up/down while the screen is off
-Pause music with camera button while screen is off
-Tmobile themes (You don't need to flash ANYTHING to theme CM7. You simply open the "Themes" Application and swap out a new one [found in the market or online] and it themes your phone without even rebooting!) *Rebooting is recommended for most themes...but you can get the feel of a theme in 5 seconds rather than flashing it...rebooting...checking...deciding you don't like it...flash stock back...yada yada yada*
-FAST I get scores of 3000 in Quadrant running at 1.2ghz.
-%1 battery icon in the status bar (on official froyo kernel only. the "unofficial" gingerbread builds still haven't gotten this working yet).
-Yes, GPS works fine. Everything works fine.
-Lockscreen can have a separate wallpaper.
-Control bar is built into the status bar (change brightness/turn on wifi/etc)

-No HDMI (I didn't use it anyway)

There are ICS-like lockscreens. Lockscreens that you can drag in like 10 directions depending on what application you want to open.

-If you're on your phone, a message pops up at the top of the screen when you get an sms that allows you to reply directly without closing the app you're in.

and the only problems im having are
battery life
and my red cam button doesnt work,
i have to focus by pressing the screen rather than the button
