Sideloading Wonder Machine taken Down - Atrix 4G General

It would appear that even on the website (which shows At&T blocked apps) that the sideloading wonder machine is gone.
Dang! wish I had got the sideloading machine.

isnt it still available at android central? Those are the guys who wrote it, I thought...

if at was at androidcentral then you would have to sideload it, completely defeating the purpose.

Why don't you just put the .apk on your phone and install it?

that's sideloading. Anything other than a direct market download is sideloading, and blocked by At&T

Yea...that's what I'm saying. Enable side loading it takes like 30 seconds. It's more of a hassle to use wonder machine.

lol....The Side load wondermachine stays on your computer. You download an .APK file oyu want, plug the phone in and it will side load it to your phone for you. You do not place the APK on the phone at all.
There is also a video on how to use the program:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzs_1DeSgWI&feature=player_embedded
Quote from the website:
"Installation:
Unzip the SWM folder to a conveinent place on your Windows computer. The program, and all files inside the SWM folder need to stay together.
You will need to install the USB driver for your model of Android device. Information about this can be had from your carrier, or from your device manufacturer.
Usage:
Ensure that USB debugging is enabled on your Android device. For most devices, this can be found in menu>settings>applications>development
Plug your Android device into a high speed USB port on your computer.
Start the application, and browse to the apk file you would like to install by clicking the "Choose a file" button.
Once you have chosen the apk to install, the "Go" button will be enabled. Click it, and you'll see the command window which prompts you as it installs the file. "

Root the phone. It's completely safe. If you follow DG's instructions on the thread it's pretty much idiot proof too. And then sideloading will be enabled!
edit: a bunch of other things will be enabled too. and he also has an unroot script there for you.

Yeah, I don't really get this. Download SuperOneClick. You can root your phone and enable sideloading all at once. If you ever want to go back SuperOneClick will also unroot your phone as well. There's no danger doing it this way.

SuperOneClick isn't the best way to root and enable your phone. There is an issue with Busybox. Designergears recommends using aroot to root and enable sideloading. If you used SuperOneClick to root...simply unroot it.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about software to use superoneclick and such.

Hey, i think the best way for you is to do it like it says in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981866
except if you have a bell atrix, i think than youll have to wait a bit so the devs make it for it (im not sure if its a problem tho)

use aroot. I rooted with super one click and also clicked enable outside apps but it didn't work. I then used aroot and everything worked fine.

You didnt try the Sideload wonder machine? Check out all the links and instructions I posted. It is really easy, especailly if you dont trust yourself enough to root the phone.

Seriously, he posts that the SWM is down but I don't think he even knows what the SWM is.
And for everyone telling him to root, transferring files with SWM is so much easier that rooting just for side loading is kind of a waste.

You can also sideload via adb without root.

I've used wonder machine and worked beautifully.

you can always use Droidexplorer or adb
and if you can navigate this website and consciously comprehend what is being discussed (aka process the text on the screen in your mind) you should be able to follow DGs root method

EVO 4G & Hero Root & the Eris

Hi All,
I viewed the video posted by the Unrevoeked team a little while back about their EVO 4G root and it definitely caught my attention.

I just noticed today they posted an update on the thread and a link to:
http://unrevoked.com/
If you follow the site they let you download unrevoked.apk
If this APK running in some way means we can root. Well It installs successfully and when you actually run it it says "done." So I believe it does what it is suppose to do on the Eris, I just dont know what steps to take from their.
I have tried installed 2 different superuser apks and neither seems to work. Not sure if I should be doing something else.
PS I am using unrooted OTA

By meaning neither one of them "work" you mean when you press on the app and all you see is a black screen thats all it will do until a program that requires root requires permission to do whatever the app was designed to do. Ohh usb debugging in setting->applications->Development-> USB debugging should be checked.
Hey,
I tested out ADB its not working and by not working I mean neither prompt for superuser permission.
doesnt work
It doesn't work sadly. The Dev's blog is shadowmite. com/blog/ (without the space) if you are looking for any followups though.
It looks like all it does is try and replace/write /system/bin/su but I can't entirely tell. This app is supposed to run something on boot so you may want to try rebooting. Also, it creates a log: /data/DxDrm/unrevoked.log

Z4root gone from marketplace... how to root?

Seems that Z4root is gone from the marketplace. I am just learning how to do things on an android device, so please bear with me.
I have the U.S. AT&T Galaxy Tab and initial rooted it with Z4 when it was in the marketplace. I then later did the whole flashing to get the Phone and 3G working on the device. Now I want to fix the missing protected apps marketplace issue. In order to do this... the device needs to be rooted.
Now that Z4 is gone... is there another way to get it Z4 or to get rooted in general?
I had the same problem, believe z4root doesn't work with latest rom so I used this which worked like a charm:

you can install z4root through applanet
So this app called Applanet is something that I have to download on a computer and then it syncs with the Tab? Is that even safe?

Side Load Works
Manually copy z4root.apk to the internal sd card
my files --> touch the file and let it install.
Activate usb debugging mode and run z4root
Really? You can just manually copy z4root.apk to the internal sd card, click it and install? And it actually works? I have the latest version of it too on my PC.

Use terminal to root

I seen the post on how to root the Droid Pro but I didn't see anything about doing it through the terminal emulator. Is this possible?

You don't need a laptop for Z4Root. It's an app you download on your device. It's no longer available in the Market (Google removed it), but you can find it on the internet.

You only need to do adb if you're doing theming. To just root, you only need the Z4Root app. IN fact, you'll see my question answered in that forum on that very same thing.
Let me know!
z4 worked. Once I found the link. Thanks a lot man.
Glad it worked for you. I'd recommend the following apps as "must-haves":
Titanium backup
Root explorer
Wireless tether
Ok so I downloaded titanium. I did the back up to all user and system alps. Is the root explorer the same as like su? Also, do you have to pay for wireless tether?

[Q] How to install 3rd party apps on AT&T Galaxy Tab?

I just bought my AT&T Galaxy Tab and like it, but I can't figure out how to install any apps that didn't come from the Android Market. Can anybody help me out with this? My goal is to use my jailbroken iPhone 4 as a modem for the tab instead of buying another data plan.
I'm totally new to Android and know nothing about programming. So, if someone could walk me through this process step-by-step, I would be very greatful! Thanks!
This is my first attempt at an answer, so here goes -
The first step is to ensure that applications from unknown sources are allowed. Go to Settings (Menu key from Home screen) and then select 'Applications' and ensure that the 'Allow install of non-Market applications' is ticked.
From there it should just be a matter of downloading an app you have found (on a reputable website) via your browser.
Find the file, usually in the 'download' or 'downloads' directory using the stock 'My files' (or any other file manager you may have installed from the market).
Select the file and you should be able to install it from the menu that pops up.
Hope this helps
Att tabs don't have the above option avail. You'll have to root your device, there is a sticky thread in the tab dev section that will give you all the steps. You just download a special program on your pc, connect and press a single button. Takes about 5 min, after rooted there is an option to allow 3rd party apps within the same pc program. Once you've downloaded the program it'll make more sense.
If the app doesn't require the tab to be rooted then you could just either get the apk to the tab by emailing it to yourself or whatever method or install Android-sdk and use "adb install packagename.apk".
As for using iPhone as modem, searc for "wpa_supplicant" in General forum, you will see tons of answers. I dunno if it will work w iPhone but I use the tab with Nokia and it works.
Another question
Okay. I'm still kind of new to the forums as well. Can you tell me where the "sticky tab" thing is? Sorry to be such a pain, but I'm still trying to figure this stuff out. I think I'll be able to figure a lot of it out once I can get it to let me install the 3rd party apps.
Wonder why AT&T blocked that option? I thought that was the whole point of Android- to allow everyone to modify it as they wished? I'm sure it's so you'll have to buy a data package from them. As bad as I hate to say it, it was a LOT easier to jailbrake my phone than it is my Tab.

Install the app on your pc. First use option 1 and Root your Tab. Second choose option 4 (Allow Non Market Apps) and your done. You can test it by either trying to install an app from a link off a website (such as here) or directly from your SD card. Both will now work just fine. I also am running an AT&T Tab and this worked fine for me.
You can just put your iphone sim card in your tab and get 3g data. If you want voice capability too, you will have to flash a rom that has a phone dialer. Roto JME thread is a good place to start learning this business.

I tried rooting it this way, but it won't work. SuperOneClick gets to a point and says "waiting for device" and it just sits there. I've tried having the Tab in USB Debugging mode and out of that mode, but it makes no difference. At this point, I'm about willing to let you remote in to my laptop via TeamViewer and see if you can make it work. lol I'll keep digging through here and see what I can come up with.

If you have not installed the usb driver for the tab using either android-sdk included driver or installing Skies, I don't think SuperOneClick will detect the tab.

Quattr0 is correct. The issue is not with the app but with the drivers. You need to install the usb drivers to allow for a successful connection.

That may be the problem. My PC doesn't seem to recognize my Tab, no matter if I try it in Windows or Ubuntu. Where do I get the drivers or Skies software? I've tried to find it in numerous places, but I'm not finding any for the AT&T Tab.
Also tried taking the SIM card out of my Mercury USB modem and installing in the Tab so I;d have totally unlimited data, but it wouldn't work. Haven't tried the one out of my iPhone 4 yet.
There's a link for the drivers on the superoneclick post, if you don't see it just goto the samsung site

Noob here in need of help

I'm not a noob to Android, but I am a noob to this whole ROM scene, or whatever you want to call it.
Basically, I wanted to make my phone able to install apps that i downloaded from my PC. Some quick research told me ok, I gotta check off an option "allow unknown sources." That option isn't there. I do some more research and I find out I gotta root my phone. Ugh, I didn't want to get into this stuff but fine, I'll do it.
This is the tutorial that I followed, to the T. briefmobile [DOT] com/motorola-atrix-4g-root
So I root my Atrix, yay, I should be able to install this neato app I got my SD card now right? No, that "allow unknown sources" option still doesn't exist. What gives?
So after scouring the internet (including a long time lurking this forum) for hours, attempting to use SuperOneClick and freeze one me 3 times, 2 factory resets, and doing bundles of research I've come to the conclusion that I'm completely lost, and scared of doing anything else that I don't know how-to and bricking my phone. So I come to you gentlemen for help. Please don't just post a link to a sticky (which I've probably already read) and send me off reading more gobbly-gook. Please, just help a bro out here.
