You can access the SD-card on WM-side when Vista is running through a network share. (Or a shared folder on your HD)
However, SD access is ONLY available when the X86 side of the shift is running.
Check out this thread for details.

How to use harret on hd2

Hi all,
Im new to blogs so please be kind, i know this is probably something really easy to do, but im having problems doing it.
Im trying to run the darkstone hd2 froyo rom through harret.exe. I've downloaded the rom and have placed it on the root of my memory card aswell as harret.exe the media folder to fix sound and the other random files that i was told to download with harret.exe.
I have tried to run harret.exe but it just stops about 5 lines in when its trying to "boot" the "karnel"
Can anybody help me get it working. I've regretted buying this phone from day one when i realised how **** windows actually is and theres finally a fix (although not complete, or perminent)
If someone could just show me how you do it from start to finish on a video or something id really appreciate it, ive tried looking on youtube, but everythings either fake, or it misses steps out.
Many thanks
Jamie

Android .exe is there one?

Hi all have had my HD2 for 3 months now and have all the usual issues and it has been back to Vodafone a few times I dont really want to get rid of it as it is perfect size etc for vids and calendar sms for and an old codger like me for work with bad eyesight..
Heres the question I am not brain of britain at this sort of thing and want to know if there is an Android .exe I can run from my micro sd card that has all the upgraded stuff you need for a stable phone........I can add apps and that sort of thing but my technical knowledge is somewhat vague....I dont understand what Froyo is and your terms for radio this that and the other and could be surfing on here for days and not understand much....
I understand the dual boot bit as in the Windows operating system ( or not as the case is )
and Android effectively runs over the top of it but thats as far as I can get...
Any help would be gratefully received..
Regards Lee F
ps has anyone else had their phone dial out evertime you play a track on Nitro?....I came back from France to find each time I changed a song it dialed hope for 10 seconds and had a huge bill of .75p connection charge some 90 odd times......
what ....when ...how...im confused
Android is in fact a whole other system compared to Windows Mobile, and as of now, it isn't completely finished/'out of beta' yet. It is still less stable than Windows Mobile is on your device.
What I do suggest you to do is take a look at this thread, and get started with HSPL'ing your phone, so you can install a custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
The phone dialing out is one thing it shouldn't be doing for sure.
Actually sounds like a trojan horse.
Did you change the song with your wired headset? Because it can be used to dial the last dialed number that could be your problem. Also some earphones/speakers without a button can sometimes initiate it when you move the plug around....

I don't want to sound harsh, but I think Android on the HD2 is not for you.

Well, that's no way to treat a fellow! Y'ought to explain to 'im.
Android on the HD2 is not finished yet (and will always require things like flashing or other not noob safe things) and has therefore some bugs, problems and limitations. For someone who isn't that good with technical things and hasn't read/understood all those guides it could cause some problems and misunderstandings etc. I can imagine someone sending in his HD2 for repair because his ambient light sensor doesn't work in Android...
...or at least opening some threads here and asking tons of dumb questions that could be easily answered by reading the stickies or using the search.

There is no such .exe file. To Run Android you only need to run a .exe and a few files with it. But without a suitable Radio (the part of you operating system that is responsible for Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and everything else that sends/receives data over the air), you will get problems. But finding and updating a suitable Radio sadly isn't as easy as running a .exe
But there are many guides on it which should help you, in case you still want to do it.
Buddy,
Right at the top of the forum here there are sticky threads that contain all the information you need to get HD2 running android. Please post you're questions there instead of opening a new thread.

[Q] WP7 & Android dual boot video tutorial????

If its not too much to ask can someone please make a more detailed tutorial on how to do this. like a video or even a picture tutorial i always get lost when it comes down to the partitioning either it formats my sd card or when i plug it in it says it only has like 10 MB
PLEASE HELP the tutorials can be a little confusing just in that one area
Thanks in advance
Follow this guide its easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
All you basically do is copy the partitions from a SD card that WP7 has already created and resize the 200MB partition so that Android can fit on.
I had same issue as you where it said I only had 10-15MB space when putting it in windows, just do a fresh install by flashing it again and make sure you card is in before you do it and windows will just skip the formating of card.
a video would be helpful .they have plenty showing it running but none on the actual set up. i've learned allot from this site but i'm still a little fuzzy on partitions and unallocated so if i actually see what others are setting their partitions at,i can do the same.guess i'm more of a visual person..i have to see it done.

Sorry but I just dont get why you would need images/videos for this, there isnt any complicated steps or anything its very simple which is why nobody has even bothered with them. Did you even install the partition software yet?

Of course i did....and why wouldn't we need images or a video. not everyone is computer savvy and like i said,i'm learning. it's not like we want a whole hour long movie done for us. some folks on here don't mind helping others, but i see...some who think they're more gifted then others in all aspects of life just because they have higher post counts, see different. "did you even install the partition software yet?" i swear, some people.smh

[Q] Anyone in Pittsburgh, PA?

I am a newbie to this forum. I have had my HD2 for a year. I'm on my third phone and I hate Tmobile. However, since I can't do anything about changing my phone for awhile, I decided to actually try to learn about it.
1. I'm illiterate to software, hardware, etc.
2. It seems like you need to be an engineer to understand all this stuff
3. I'm trying, writing notes, looking up definitions, etc.
4. I'm struggling
Anyways I was wondering if any of you people were in my area of Pittsburgh? I would love to meet up and discuss phone stuff and improve my literacy and ability. I'm slowly getting better, but alas, I'm still an idiot....
Thank You Friends
man....i wish i was in PA.....

Best advice I can give you is just keep reading.....
Even if you dont understand what your reading, read it anyway....*
Things will start to come together sooner or later. Sure it all seems confusing at first but trust me, it does all start to make sense.
Try reading the stickie threads first, the wikis contain good info too.
If theres something in particular your having trouble with then dont be afraid to ask over in the Q&A section...... try searching first though
Theres usually somebody around who'll be able to help.
Remember to try and include as much information as possible in your question though, helps to provide a more clear and concise answer.
Oh yeah..... welcome to XDA
*I stole that advice from samsamuel... (credit where credits due)
Thank you I will try to look first, but sometimes I don't even know what the heck I'm looking for!
Point in case: I can't figure out how to tether my phone with my computer?
Downloaded and have app working
Computer doesn't recognize it
No idea how to work around this
Just an example...if i can't do this I can't imagining partitioning an SD card to run android and windows 6.5....
Hmm the tethering is not an area Im too sure about, from what I've heard, a lot of the American networks require you to pay to be able to use tethering. Its available by default on my phone so I've never had to worry about it.
I would imagine that flashing a custom ROM would allow you to tether just by connecting to your computer.
As for android, if you want to run WM and Android from your SD card then theres no need to partition the card.
You just download the ROM you want.
It will be in a .zip file when you open that theres a folder called "Android".
You place that on your SD card.
Click one of the files inside. (clrcad.exe)
Then click another (haret.exe) and your off........
All the SD card android builds contained instructions in the thread how to get it running.
Like I said before, It may all seem very confusing at first but as long as you read up on what you want to do first, you'll be fine.
One thing I think is important to mention though, as your bound to have the US version of the HD2 (green and red call and hangup buttons).....
NEVER NEVER NEVER flash a radio with .51. in the name of it......
Even if you dont know what that means right now. Keep it in mind. Its the most common cause of people "bricking" their phones. 99% of problems can be fixed so dont worry but that will kill your phone instantly.
If you get to the point where you need to flash a radio, remember to check if its a good one.
Happy reading
