Strange Carrier connection issue... - Flipout and Charm General

Hi people...
Got a strange issue that I can't get to the bottom of. A few days ago my flipout started to display "no sim" message and refused to aknowledge my sim (orange 3G). I have used this 3g sim for 2 years without issue with various handsets.
If I insert my wifes Orange 2G sim then all works fine, but the phone refuses to see any other sim 2G/3G (orange). If I insert a sim from a different carrier then the phone presents me with the network unlock screen, which means that it is seing a sim & identifying that it is for a different carrier. My wifes Orange 2G sim is the only one it will accept. any other 2g/3g orange sim is not even aknowledged.
I have purchased various new Orange sims, all result in the "no sim" message.
Even stranger is the fact that if I leave a 3G orange sim in the phone switched on then after about an hour the phone will suddenly recognise the sim, connect to orange 3g full 5 bar signal only to revert back to "no sim" 10-15 minutes later .
I suspect the sim card reader in the phone, but would like to be sure before
I hunt down a replacement reader. I have unplugged the reader from the main board & washed it with Isopropyl alcohol in a sonic bath, checked for dry joints (none), I have also checked the contact surface on the sim for pin marks (all six were there). This result suggests that there is not a contact issue between the sim & reader.
Can anybody shed some light on this extremely perplexing issue...?
Much respect in advance for any suggestions...
Stay Breezy & Be Lucky...
Peace...
FYI : Yes, I have checked my 3g sim in 3 other phones & it works without issue...

Roaming problem

Since some months I'm in Egypt for business reasons. I don't use my hermes very often here, because I'm having some duty phones. More or less I'm playing around with it, every now and then I'm turning the radio on to look for text messages from good old Austria.
I'm using an Austrian ONE Sim card and roam with Vodafone Egypt. In the place where I'm leaving I have 100% net.
Some days ago - I was testing S2U2 - I noticed that I can not call my hermes while the Austrian Sim card is inserted. I tried it with two different duty phones with Egyptian Sim cards, I tried it with another phone with an Austrian Sim card in it, its always the same: "The number you've dialed is incomplete". Of course the number is not incomplete. I can make phone calls from my hermes with the Austrian Sim card in it, but I can not call it. BTW: I tried it with UMTS on and off, same result. Its working fine if I insert an Egyptian Sim card, so apparently its a roaming problem.
Its not that important, because I don't use roaming with my hermes (too expensive, thank you very much ONE *ggg*), but I'm curious whats going on. Guess its a problem caused by my home provider?
Any ideas?

HTC Touch Elf SimCard Issues

Need help guys...
this might be a silly question but i've searched through google and this forum for the past few days and still haven't found the exact answer to this issue.
well, the issue is this:
1) Bought a 2nd hand Touch/Elf from a local reseller and when inserting a Celcom (mobile provider) postpaid simcard (128K) it does not recognize the sim card and show the message "invalid SIM".
2) Inserted DiGi (another provider) simcard (64K prepaid) and it works brilliant. and I am currently using it with my Elf right now.
3) Tried my friend's Maxis (another provider) simcard (128K postpaid) and the problem goes again.
4) Tried another friend's Celcom (64K prepaid) and the same issue went on again.
Does it have something to do with SIM unlocking because i suspect that this Elf is not sim locked.
does it have to do with the capacity of simcards (64k/128k)?
please help as i would like to use my Celcom postpaid with this device as it is my primary number and i wouldn't like to carry 2 phones with me around.

Dual Sim Adaptor doesn't work in TYTN II (ORange UK Only)

I have a TYTN II on the Orange UK network (Pay Monthly). The phone is unlocked and works with a O2 (Pay as you GO) SIM on the network.
I recently bought the following Dual SIM Adaptor :-
http://www.m-99.co.uk/Mobile_Phone_Twin_SIM_Adapters/mobile_phone_twin_sim_adapters.html
I cut both my SIMS and tested them on a Nokia. The SIMS work fine in the Nokia, I can select SIM 1 or SIM 2.
On plugging the adaptor into my TYTN, the O2 network works fine.
On switching to the Orange UK network the phone shows signal, but after approx 15 seconds the network shows no signal.
When trying to access the SIM Manager during this 15 seconds it does state that the SIM is initialising.
The Adaptor works fine on a Nokia but not a TYTN II. Any Ideas ??
Perhaps it requires different hardware? On the site you have to choose the model ..
Bought one from another site and same problem.
I chose the TYTN adaptor.
I'll try a different ROM.

Maybe you have to turn the radio off before switching from one sim to another.
Have you set it to GSM network type ?
Go to: Settings>Phone>Band (you will need a working sim installed to enter phone options)
I had a bunch of dual sims that worked great on WM PDAs, sold um all.
Your problem sounds like the Orange SIM is not connecting well.
One trick that can work well is to place the Dual sim adaptor (SIMs loaded in adaptor) on a flat surface PCB side down & apply even preassure over the top with your thumb (Give it a good hard squash)
This normally cures it.
Another option is to swap the sim positions & see if Orange works in the O2 slot (this will prove sim terminal connection problem)
Thanks Mister B,
Went to Settings>Phone>Band and switched from Auto to GSM. All works fine.
Cheers
DUAL SIM Not working on Treo 750 WM 6.1 GSM phone
The Dual SIM Adapter boasts of not needing to switch off to switch between SIMS. But it shows only default SIM 1 and not the second SIM. My Treo 750 is a unlocked WM 6.1 GSM type. Can anyone help pls?
No 1: follow tip in post #5
No 2: remove sim adaptor from phone place it on a flat hard surface with the PCB board facing down & roll your thumb over the back of it with reasonable pressure & then retry it in your device.
Some of these adaptors need a lot of patience to get working due to poor contacts between sim cards & adaptor.
You can also swap position of your 2 SIMs which will help fault diagnose the issue.

Dual Sim networking

Hi people,
I've searched the forum for an answer to my question, no joy so here goes on a new thread.
I recently bought myself a Chinese dual sim smart phone, named "Longhorn" (no sniggering!), but pretty sure it's better known as a STAR MTK6573. Great phone for the money, 1GB processor, all the bells and whistles. My problem is that I want to use two sim cards, one from a British network, one from a Norwegian network. Right now I'm in Norway and the Norwegian sim is working faultlessly, the British sim works when the phone is switched on first, but then after varying amounts of time the British sim drops out of service. If I turn the phone off, then restart the UK sim comes back into service but again goes off after some time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours.
I've looked through the sim related settings but can't find a solution, and even contacted the British network operator to see if they know any answers - they don't.
I'll be going to the UK shortly so it'll be interesting to see if the Norwegian sim starts cutting service when I'm there, in the time being does anyone have any ideas for a permanent solution?
Thanks to all for reading, and musing on the problem, in anticipation.

Did you try switching the SIM-Slots ?
Are both using same freq ?
Did you used Sim-Turbo or other "perfect unlockers" ? <- im asking because after using one of those "great" inventions my SIM started to droping signal on diffrent phone (like the X-Turbo/X-Sim/Sim-Turbo) install some junk on sim...

Hi, thanks for your answer. I haven't installed any sim "enhancing" software, and the phone is brand new. Swapping the sim slots doesn't seem to make a difference, even though only one is WDMA. I think the problem is to do with roaming from my UK sim, when the signal strength drops out the sim loses service to the roaming network, but doesn't reinstate the service when signal improves.
Update
OK, so a little progress was made! The phone only has the option to set one of the SIMs as 3g. The local SIM was set as the default and therefore had the 3g setting applied to it. If I force change the 3g to the roaming SIM the roaming SIM stays in service for longer, and is more stable but still loses service periodically (at least twice a day). Any further suggestions?

OK, so I now have a working dual sim phone using two networks from two different countries. My initial headaches were all caused by the overseas network SIM. Either faulty or incompatable but after a SIM swap from the network company it now works faultlessly.

4G LTE No longer functioning on phone

Hi All!
I own a Lenovo K6 Power as you can already tell,
in which the Data functions were working without any issues.
A few months back I started using 2 sims instead of 1. Since one carrier had faster internet and better connectivity than the 1st.
Still using the 1st SIM for calling and 2nd SIM for data. Occasionally I would switch to the 1st SIM for data when my data pack was over for the 2nd SIM etc...
So one fine day, I was switching back to SIM 2 (Sim I use for data) (Normally when you switch SIMs both deactivate and reactivate with new settings ie SIM 2 for Data).
So while this was happening like usual it took a few seconds to switch SIMs in the midst of this I suddenly got a call...
Which I was unable to answer till the buffering animation left my screen.
When that did get over... Both my SIMS were set to EDGE 2.5 g when they were always recognised as HSPA 3G and 4G LTE for SIM 1 and SIM 2 respectively.
Now I am unable to attain the speeds I used to, it is just barely usable now...
I then tried the usual troubleshooting (Airplane Mode on/off, Deactivating / Reactivating SIMs, Swapping SIMs physically from their slots and Finally Rebooting...)
Now when I recently tried doing the same my 2nd SIM which I usually use for Data appears as SIM Card Not Ready...
However, when I individually insert SIM 2 it is read by the phone
But still, whether I individually insert the SIMs or together the phone recognises both the SIM cards as 2.5g EDGE.
They used to be HSPA 3G and 4G LTE.
But now I can't use Data on my phone which is the major problem...
Please Help
Reset ur phone.
Is there any other option?
Apart from this...
I don't want to lose my data.....
What if that doesn't solve the problem...
