[Q] Sorry!! but another lack of storage problem - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys.. yet another storage full question..
Sorry if its been answered but I have tried the search function and tried some of the answers .. non of which has worked in my case.
I´m using Rafdroid HD 4.0.2 - dat2ext.. i used the install instructions given by the developer.
I used the Panasonic formatter for my SD card.. first partition primary FAT32.. ext part is ext3 primary. The maximum 1 GB ext was used.... I´m using a 32 GB SD card.
Magdlr 1,13 and the 400mb recovery were installed .. no problem. Rafdroid as zip copied to SD card.. the steps are clear and as i´ve repeated this twice and twice i´ve the same problem. (twice because someone in another thread suggested the answer to storage problem was to do it again.)
All the tested apps etc on the phone work as far as i can test them as i always get a message "storage low"
The message is "storage almost full" Please make 512 kb free space.
I would use app 2 sd or a similar app but i cant install the app as i´ve no free space.
Droid explorer is installed on my computer and i can look at whats installed but i´m unsure of what will happen if i start do delete programmes using this method.
details.. Rafdroid 4.02
Totalspace on sd card.. 29,19GB
total available.. 28,95 GB
internal phone storage
Available space 0,00B !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot move apps to the sd card using the phone as the button with the move to sd remains grey in the manage applications prog.
Can anyone suggest what i should do? how do i get rid of some apps.. free up space so that i can install app 2 hd.
This has happened a few times (very seldom) if you read thro the forum.. any ideas as to why??

Seems like you're doing it right off the top of my head, but I've heard problems with larger SDcards, might wanna give it a try with a smaller one just to test and eliminate that off a checklist of things it might be.

Thanks for the tip.. i´ll buy a smaller sd card and try it out.
I had tried at the weekend to install rafdroid 3.2 i just to check to see if the build had anything to do with it.. but the problem remained... i´d also tried diff. programmes to format and repartition the card but also to no avail.. so as i´ve tried most things the only fault would seem to be with the size of the card..
I´m also going to install some other android build.. again just to check if this problem exits there as well

Yeah the SD card could be the cause of it. When the HD2 originally came out it only supported up to 16GB, so that could be your problem.

So.. i´ve now tried both rafdroid builds with an 8 and 16 gb sd micro card and both work fine.. no lack of storage issues.
I´ve also tried coredroid with all three cards.. with the 32 gb card the same problem... storage issues but with the 8 and 16 gb cards.. no problems at all
so i think after all my tests i can say that rafdroid, coredroid dont work with a 32gb sd card but will work ok with an 8 or 16 gb card.
i hope this helps anyone with similar problems..
altho i can say that wm 6.5 worked without any problems with the 32 gb card.

[Q] 16GB sd formatted to 200 MB!?!?

I had put wp7 on my hd2 and experience issues with it restarting over and over on its own.
I have since gone back to android and have notice they my SD only reads 200mb. Its a 16gb SD.
My question, is there a way to restore or undo the format wp7 applied to my SD? I'd rather not buy another SD lol
Any suggestions would be apreciated
I had the same problem.
I could not format in Windows XP or in Windows 7 ...
In the end I formatted in camera.
WP7 creates two partitions - one for system use the other is what you're seeing - the 200mb partition.
Theres program called SD Format nocking around on the internet that should reformat and remove the partion WP7 creates - try googling SD Format that should throw up some links to it - i beleive its freeware.
There are lots of threads and fixes about this, here is one with video:

Here is one where you don't have to install any software on your pc:

I flashed the stock ROM then i went to start/tools/Format SD Card & formated worked for me
If you are using a NAND build of Android, you can just format it from the phone and it should recover the remaining amount of the SD card. I don't remember who I saw that posted it on here, but it worked for me when I tried it.

Unable to Find External Memory after Installing Win7 on my HD2

Hi,
i installed windows 7 on HTC HD2 and i am unable to locate extrenal memory
16GB ScanDisk Memory,
appreciate if anyone can give me step by step instruction how to go about it
or if there is a patch i need to install
only thing you need to install is a proper sd-card and this card has to be inside the phone during the first boot... please search the forums, it was been discussed a hundred times...
mine sandisk class 4 16 GB..works great..i think u should try this card..nothing problem till now..
Reset the phone with the sd card in it
If you are looking for separate external memory , you will not find it ....
WP7 uses the whole SD card as "Phone Memory" , unless you do some voodoo that you find here on the forums ...
In Zune does it show 16gb of storage?

[Q] I want my sd full... 200MB HELP !!!!!!!!!

Hi guys I have a problem installing WP7 and my SD card ends with 200mb of 8 GB
First: I read a lot of posts about 200mb , about fix sd card, about this issue, but is not clear for me. So I looking for people can help me , not to bother me and say me google or search it. This people don't have nothing to do than spend time writing useless words.
I have an HTC HD2, every time I install a WP7 ROM after the first windows boot/ start , windows let my SD card of 8GB in 200mb, lot of people know that.
I try, format and partition the sd card after and before installation.
Windows format the SD after the first set up, and after that I try format or partition the SD again, but not work.
1 st question: I can read with windows 7 the files in the SD card ...? if I save some music or data.??? May be an aplication or something can read / write the SD.
If the first question is "yes" ... I find tutorials with how to format the sd card to use android, but I don't want use android , I want only WP7 and leave my memory with the full size, and can read / write files, like music , word , excel, etc. files.
Trying to do that I flash the WP7 like 6 times today...
I want, can use my SD Card Billy G !!!!!! LOL
Thanks guys for any advice or solution can give me.
Have you tried to format your SD card with a digicam? First I saw also the 200MB on the card in the digicam, when I formated it with the cam I saw the whole memory of 8 or 16GB.
Regards, Olli2.
format the card using a digital camera...thats the fastest way to do it....
No, I do not think you guys understand what he is saying. I think he wants to format once WP7 is installed and continue using WP7. WP7 does not support hot swapping cards. Once installed and formatted, it cannot be messed with if you want to continue to use WP7.
I can format the card
Thanks guys ....
I can format the card after I install the windows 7 with the boot menu of Magldr , but when I start the phone again windows tell me the Memory card can't be read, do a hard reset or change the memory, for a compilant one and force me to turn off.
I try differents ways, format the memory card to one partition of 200mb and the other partition with the rest of the unformated card, I try format to one big partition, I do the hard reset with the volume butoms , and start my phone and the same problem.Format to FAT 32.
I don't have a camera with this micro SD card..., you traying to tell me the windows 7 use a different file system than FAT32? BEcouse the 200MB partition is FAT16.
1)What happends if I install windows with no SD card??? and at the end of all the first windows set up( means widnows format my SD card to 200 mb, I install the SD card full size in the slot.? could be work?
2)But somebody can make work windows 7 ( only no dual boot) with a full size SD card( 8gb 16gb) , and can read/write/play music, videos or text files from the SD card...? or windows don't let you use the SDcard, or may be another aplication can on the marketplace, can do it.?
Thanks for the help...
That's all very strange to me. Every time I installed a WP7 ROM my issue was trying to GET the 200MB partition. (I dual boot android/WP7). What I suggest is to format your SD card, and make it one big UNFORMATTED partition. For example, if you use MiniTool Partition Wizard (i use that) make sure it's unformatted (a green square) as opposed to unallocated (grey square). Then when you flash WP7 it should have all of your storage.
You need to have your SD card in there when flashing the ROM. If not, and you try and insert the card afterwards, it won't recognize it.

See my answer above.....What you are trying to do cannot be done because WP7 does not support removable storage.
Also, you must use Zune software to alter the size of storage available to windows for mass storage device.
I don't get what's the problem... Let's better make some things clear:
When you install for the first time WP7 on HD2, the system will format your SD card, it doesn't really matter what kind of partitions you had earlier, everything is going to be wiped out.
WP7 will make 2 partitions on your SD:
1. [~200MB] FAT16
2. [Rest of the space] Unformatted
That's the way it should be. The partitions aren't visible under Windows, with some registry hacks in Windows 7, the card gets mounted as a media player, where you can throw the music or pictures.
After installing WP7 on your phone, go to Settings->About and check the line Total Storage, if you say you have a 8GB card, then there should be available about 6.5-7GB ...
Of course, all these things are in the most ideal case, when your SD card is compatible with WP7..
In case you want to get back to Android and your card is not recognized normally, connect your card to PC through a card reader (or MGLDR -> USB MassStorage) and format it through SDFormatter (Freeware), turning ON the FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT under Options..
After couple of months trying to make WP7 to work on my HD2 EU, i finally made it, had all kind of troubles with different cards.
1. SanDisk 2GB Class2 (Bundled with HD2) - could install WP7, card was recognized, after one day of using and installing several apps the system stars to crash, random reboots each 20 minutes or so.
2. Kingston 8GB Class4 (Bought 2 weeks ago) - WP7 installs but can't get over startup configuration, it stucks, rebootings and Hard Resets won't help (tried a bunch of different ROMs)
3. SanDisk 8GB Class4 (Bought 4 days ago) - WP7 installed perfectly, no rebootings and everything works till now, some bugs are showing up, but most probabil it's just Software/ROM related stuff..
nickriley thanks for all the info and explain to me this issue.
I have a Sandisk 8GB, and HD2 EU too, can you tell me the registry hack I need to do on the phone to can use the unformated like a media storage like you say...
"The partitions aren't visible under Windows, with some registry hacks in Windows 7, the card gets mounted as a media player, where you can throw the music or pictures.
"
Thanks a lot !!!!!!
No problems.
I couldn't find the guide on XDA forums, and as i'm a new user here i just found out that i'm not allowed to post external links Check your inbox..
Used the device in this way just a couple of times, as i'm using WP7 as main OS only during the last 3 days, but it worked, can copy from device and to device also..
Is there's a way to increase the FAT (200MB) partition ?

Why my HD2 android won't start with my SD card?

My HTC HD2 works with my Transcend 4 GB microSD card, but it won't android won't boot up with my 8 GB Verbatim microSD card. Do I need to format it or something? Thanks!
Are you sure you have the correct set up ? (Files are copied to their destinations)
Try to format it to FAT32, and try again.
I`have just formated it to FAT32 and still the same problem. What files are you talking about?
PS: Sorry to bother you with "stupid" questions, I am pretty noob in this
I have read that Verbatim SDCards can cause problems in the build; booting or running, SanDisk is your best bet, but you may still be able to get it running,
Im not a dev; just brought SanDisk as a result of this,
Alex

It depends on many factors. Which Android Rom do you want flash, does this need Ext 3/4 Partition on the SD Card ? Do you have flashed the right partition size ? Read the installation instructions of Rom you wants to flash, there you mostly find all information.
Are you talking about NAND or SD? If NAND, make sure the ext partition is set up correctly, as this is where a lot of the apps are stored. If SD, then I would assume you know how to install an SD build so it could be a problem with the SD card being incompatible as alex.odell.2011 said.
I've had similar problems sometimes with my SD card; my HD2 wouldn't boot unless I took the card out then put it back in once it was booted. The only thing that I thought might cause it is something CWR related on the SD card, since I had used it in my Hero and Droid 1 as well to flash ROMs to them. It was a class 4 16 GB Sandisk, if that helps at all.

[Q] HTC HD2 You have reached the storage limit

Hi all,
Ihave installed pdaimatejam Rom Wp7.8 OS 7.10.8862.144 v8.9 on my HTC HD2 succesfully but there is only one 'minor' thing that is bugging me. With everything I do on the phone I get the message saying "Error. Oops! You have reached the storage limit on your phone. Go free up some space, then try again."
There is a 2GB micro SD card inside (completely empty), I also tried a 4GB micro SD card, same result..
Under settings > information the phone states that it has only 0,53MB of storage space available, it doesn't mention the sd-card at all.
I tried a hard reset with and without the sd-card in the phone, reformatting the sd-card, I even installed a Windows Phone 7.5 ROM but this gives me the same error.
Can anyone please help me with this? I can't install any apps right know, I even can't take one picture..
Hoping to read some good response soon.
Thanks in advance!
