BEST "task Switching" APP - Optimus One, P500, V Themes and Apps

I hate how there is no "proper" way to switch apps on android (dont mention pressing HOme key for a while)..I want to know which is the most easy way to switch apps on android.....CUrrently i use CLUTCHPAD and had earlier used smart taskbar..What do u use?? Which is the best task switching app..

http://www.appbrain.com/app/itching-thumb-(task-manager)/com.bw.flipit this one is nice but right now im just using the built-in switcher

I use PreviousApp to get to last app just by long pressing search key. Its a bit buggy though

Perfect Task Switcher
I use Perfect Task Switcher which is looks very good. Just like S^3 task switcher with thumbnails. And its free in Android market.

}

do any one of the above open up by say touching a particular section on the screen...CLUTCHPAD provides a small transparent notch on the screen..Click it and a small windows pops open...check the enclosed screenshot..its really handy gives your phone an alt+tab feel without pressing any hard buttons !!

im using prehome, its fast and simple, free from market

There is, if you hold home. I personally did not like this because whatever ROM I always used... it never was fast enough. I ended up creating ClutchPad... which I just happened to create a video that shows off lots of its features. Not saying its for everyone... but it may be what your looking for

I also use perfect task switcher. If you go into the options you can set it to allow you to kill the apps from that window. It places a little X in the corner of each thumbnail.

Minimising applications on an XDA EXEC

Is there anyway to minimise a word program so that I could look at the desktop or work on a second program simultaneously
The question is... How do you "NOT" minimize it... In WM, any of them for that matter, the "X" button, which in PCs or Macs closes the app, minimizes it in WM. So yeah. Hope this helped.
but if it minimises there is no icon in the system tray which will enable a quick start of the word document
i guess there is no way to resize applications?
But if you open the program again (eg. If you pressed "X" in Word Mobile with a document open, then re-open Word Mobile, you'd get the app & the doc still open).
I suggest you get yourself a nice taskmanager like SmallMenu Plus (my favourite), Magic Button and a myriad others.
VJOkButt will permit you to minimise/close apps and switch quickly to the Today screen and then back to your active app.
I'll regret bringing this up, but apps can be made to resize:

I use the True Toolbar task manager. It also show you a small icon for each app running. Have a look.
thanks for the replies
i have installed magic button, it looks nice. i think the cross button closes the application, right?
i guess there is no way to resize the applications in magic button?
VJ, what's that vysihaya thing? On your site it says "Not coming soon..."
VJ when can you release an application that allows resided windows... and true windows rather than full sized screens...
and your right. you are going to regret saying and showing that....
will a small donation help?
PS congratulations on your kid.... spewing about your landlord.
Simon, thanks for your wishes - we've just got back from court this morning and I had to fight for an extension not to be kicked out. By the grace of God I've got 4 weeks longer for my idiot landlord to pay off his debts. Sigh, Real Lifeā„¢ can be a pain.
I've not had time to do any coding for weeks because of the baby, the eviction, and the Buzz Unlocker
However, hopefully now I'll have time to get my hands dirty again. I haven't thought about VJSihaya for a while, but I'm slowly getting together thoughts and ideas I want to add. Hopefully later this year I'll get something worth releasing out. Although the windowing system and skinning system, I guess the hard bits, already work well...

Is there an easy way to switch between running tasks?

I know Wisbar will list running applications on the top status bar, but I don't have wisbar. Is there a similar way to switch between running tasks without going back to Programs and re-launch the app?
Thanks.
There are some alt+tab applications out there that you can map to a key and switch between them (just like on a computer).
No need to install anything... From any application, press the [HOME] key (the house icon next to the 'pick up the phone' icon on the bottom of the phone) and that'll take you back to the TF3D home screen. Then, tap the upper right icon, which, assuming you haven't changed much, should be the task manager. A list of running apps will drop down. Just tap an application and it will come up and be active.
Hope this helps...
Jesse
Thanks all for replies.
I just found a freeware tool WkTask that does exactly what I am looking for. Also, it has the ability to exclude tasks that you don't want to show up on the task bar such as ActiveSync, Gyrator...

This is also done by the default task manager of HD. Just press the icon that has three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the screen and select the wrench icon.
Or you could use apps developed by the clever guys here at XDA-Developers...

Works well on my TouchHD...

I use the AE Button Plus task manager/action menu, you can assign it to a button and cycle through the open apps. simple and effective.
Who need beautiful device: Task Facade
Who need simple and fast: AE Button Plus Task manager

Ending apps in WM 6.5.1 (with X-button)

Until WM 6.5.1, it was possible to end/kill apps by touching the X-button. I'm talking about the "End programs by tapping X" option on this screenshot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This option is available in the current 6.5.1 rom i'm using on my Diamond, but it doesn't work. When running the taskmanager, i can see apps running in the background which should be closed. I tried several 6.5.1 roms, but they all have this "problem", so it isn't related to the rom i'm using at the moment.
Is it possible to get this to work on a 6.5.1 rom (perhaps with a 3rd party tool)? I know there are tools that can kill all running apps, but i think it's easier when they automatically ends when tapping the X-button.

It's a known issue with 6.5.1 - There is no way to fix it however Showcase will do what you want plus some more nifty things. You can find it over in development and hacking.
Luckily, holding down the X button will still fully close out the programs. It takes another second to close apps, but it does the job. Showcase is also helpful :]
Showcase does what you want, no need to tap and hold, just change the registry key to close on tap.

[APP] Create shortcuts to Sense/ADW/LauncherPro and other Home on your desktop

Hello, just made an app that allow users to toggle your favourite Home.
I just create a shortcut to the Home you want., just have a look at this Video, maybe that will be easier to understand:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMpONctP2F8
I found that Home switcher need such a feature, I contacted the dev, but doesn't want to work on something like that, so I did it myself!
Remarks:
* Cyrket description here
* Use the longpress on homescreen and create a shurtcut? If you launch the main app, the shortcuts will be created on ALL your Home! so you will need to delete some ;-)
Just tell me if you find that usefull or not!

Changelog:
1.1: Now use the longpress on homescreen to add a shortcut. Will not be repeated on every Launcher like the main app.
1.01: major bug corrected with HTC Sense
1.0: First release
First post edited, the app is now in the Android Market. All seem to work fine.
Does it make the different homes default or is it just to switch between them?

Just a switcher. nothing special and revolutionnary.
Just wanted to share the app that I made for a friend. some people really like it and use it.
I don't have a really need for this app myself, but the few friends friends that try it really loved it.
May i ask where that background image is from? its stunning
Whats the background you have in that video??

Last version in the ANdroid Market allow you to use the longpress on Homescreen to add shortcut only to your favorite home.
Can now be used with launcherPro dock.
Just made an update.
I am very excited for some features, because I am making something like the Sense Desktop.
This allow you to create different Homescreens with different wallpapers and icons.
Please send me feedback!
What's New?
You can now rename the Shortcut. ( and also changing icon in future donate version)
You can now change wallpapers for each Home
I hope this feature will allow people to create Theme like Sense ( one for work, for games, etc...
Possibility to make it the default home when you use a shortcut.
Unfortunately this will break the behavior of the Home button in home ( Expose on LauncherPro or getting back to default homescreen)
Hope you will love it.
Ouch... just fixed a bug that was very annoying!
If you choose EasyHome as default without setting a Home, the app crashed.
Now fixed!
Can somebody help me please, people in comment report crashes, but I've got no problem on all my phones.

[GUIDE] Launching the Multi-Control Panel with a single gesture WITHOUT Root!

For HTC One with firmware 4.2.2 or above, there is a very handy multi-control panel with can allow users enable and disable many features like Wifi, Data, Auto-rotation etc.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However, the stupid Google UI design has made it very slow and complicated to launch the panel with 2 fingers simultaneously or swipe the notification bar down first and press the button to launch Control Panel.
Finally, I figured out a way to launch the Multi-control Panel instantly using one finer
It does NOT require root.
Here are the steps:
1. Download two apps at Google Play: "Nova Launcher" and "Swiping Home Button"
(The second app is a paid app, so you know it...)
2. Launch "Swiping Home Button and click "Binding"
3. You can customize your gesture here and personally I prefer to launch Control Panel by swiping up right (the one with Chinese word)
4. Click on the gesture you like and assign a shortcut to it. We are going to choose "App shortcut" here.
5. Choose "Nova Launcher"
6. Finally, choose "Extended Quick Settings"
You are DONE ! Enjoy the Multi-Control Panel instantly with one finger !
Demonstration Video:
Hey Mate,
Does it mean that Nova Launcher has to be running at the background all times?
I really not sure. But I don't recognize any negative effect in terms of the phone's performance caused by this trick.

Yes. Also, Nova Launcher has gestures as well so I don't get the use of this.

Well, if you use this, then you can still use the Sense Launcher!
