Atrix, here I come - Atrix 4G General

Just ordered an Atrix yesterday.
It should arrive next tuesday.
I'm using a Samsung Captivate right now. Having an unlocked bootloader is great, but it seems if the phone is s*it, then It will remain s*it no matter what rom you flash to it. I can't understand why a phone with a 1ghz cpu needs a patch to avoid lags. GPS never worked well, and with latest roms it never worked. Last time I had good gps was with JI6, but for some reason, it doesn't work anymore, no matter what rom I flash to it.
Then we have the Inspire 4g. I had that phone in mind before ordering the Atrix, but seeing how s*itty the battery was I decided in favor of the Atrix. Why in the world they put a 1230 mAh battery in a device with a huge 4.3" screen?. What were they thinking?. Also, why only 4gb of internal storage?. These two points were the ones that made me decide against the Inspire. It may have lots of roms avalaible, but it doesn't have good autonomy. So I may have total control of my phone, but It won't stay alive a whole day.
Then we'll have the Galaxy S 2 in a few months. I will never buy a Samsung phone again. Samsung proved to be s*it with my Captivate and almost with all the SGS series.
So I ended buying an Atrix. I really hope it doesn't disapoint me like the Captivate did. I don't care if I can't flash a different rom every week. If everythings work fine out of the box, then I don't see the point to flash it everyday.
What do you guys think?. I've seen lots of threads hating this phone. Threads like "I returned my Atrix for an Inspire". Is the Atrix a good phone?.
I hope I have taken the right decision.

welcome i still have a captivate as backup but there is nothing to compere between these two phones....maybe amoled screen is lil better than atrix one but i got used to it already.

I see. I realized the Atrix should be a beast compared to the Captivate ^^.

I think you are right. Don't forget the Inspire is a full ounce heavier. I tried handling the Inspire and it was very uncomfortable. Not only that it looked like and felt like a clunker. I really did not like that silver thing at the top or the weight. Definitely not sleek and fashionable. One reason I left the iPhone was the big, square mini computer shape which is kind of like the Inspire. I had a Captivate and was flashing the roms to correct all the difficulties it had. Atrix works out of the box and works very well. It is fast and handles both phone calls and e mail well. It is light years ahead of where the Captivate is at even if you do use all the custom roms. No battery problems with the Atrix. No overheating. No lag. The only way I was able to even come close with the Captivate was when I used Cyanogen Mod 6.1 or Gingerbread. I have a Galaxy S II on order but I may cancel. Atrix is that good.

I would join you and almost did. But i hate locked down phones. Its kinda like leasing a car. But the atrix is still sick. And im sure its great... I do still want one lol.
And please watch the swearing.... We have alot of young users.

Atrix is very fast phone, but camera picture quality is suck

5 days into my switch from the iphone 4 and im still extremely satisfied. Welcome and good luck!!!

I liked the atrix a lot but admit I sold it and am going to give the inspire a try. The battery on the atrix was great.
If you keep the atrix check my signature for a cheap hd entertainment kit. My buyer took just the phone.
Good luck with the atrix.

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys. This is very encouraging . I'm not nervous anymore about having bought the phone.

I had mine since the first batch of pre-orders went out...at first I did not like the colors on the Atrix got use to the Captivate OLED..but then I started to really test the phone..movies, calls, web, texting,GPS with Copilot, voice commands..running apps in the background and foreground..I tried by best to find something wrong with the Atrix as it was out of the box..it never glitched..ever.... I was shocked..Captivate would have croaked...and rebooted itself.
Then I said man..the battery on this is runs out really quick..well there is a dual core processor in the thing running at 1Ghz..so I rooted it then applied SetCPU..under clocked...then tried to crash it again...I failed..yes I got some lag after trying to run 5-6 apps in the background and playing a movie with the CPU set to 600hz...but I can tell you it never crashed or rebooted on me...so I say..I can deal with the extra high res screen with natural skin colors and locked boot loader..now I enjoy an average of 80-90hrs on one charge..with normal phone use..and about 45-55 hrs under heavy use...and yes I turn off data mode when not used..now if someone can figure out to switch between 4G/3G down to Edge mode..I think I can increase battery life even more and still have very good performance..with the ability to go full throttle as needed.
One day one of our master developers on this forum or other..will find a way to unlock it..then it will be really game on..
That's my story on the Atrix vs Captivate..

I love the Atrix, u made a great decision

I moved from the Captivate to the Atrix too.
At first I was worried, reading about MotoBlur...screen...etc...
Of course the best way to evaluate a product is to daily-use, at least for me. There's only so much I can read without trying it out the way I would use it.
Got my Atrix on Monday lunch, and I'm getting used to the screen, the power/fingerprint location, MotoBlur stuff...
Wouldn't say it's a perfect phone, but it's enough for my needs

How about the dock kit?
How was the resolution of the atrix?. How was the entertaining kit? -useful or boring?. I have a Nexus one with Gingerbread, runs pretty fast, very good at calls and battery, internet is fast, it have tether. Soo i'm looking for the Atrix for the video out features, HDMI and it's "speed".

I would think speed would be pretty much the same. Just replace Motoblur with a ASOP Gingerbread launcher and use SetCPU, then the Atrix will match the Nexus S for speed.

My Experience (Evo Vs Epic)

hope u all enjoy this read.
im going to post my experiences and thoughts with both phones.
not hating on either one, just a clear cut opinion.
I personally first came to android after the Evo came out, i was lucky to get one July 27th. I had the G1 for a couple weeks on Tmo (a long time ago) and i was not impressed.
before that i was a blackberry guy for the longest.
I switched from Tmo to sprint because tmos service went to crap. i drive for a living and i do about 200 miles a day. Tmos service would drop during the drive in the same exact spots where i knew i would lose service. 7 different places to be exact with crappy reception in between.
i figured id try sprint. anyways i stuck with them with a awesome phone the Evo 4g.
The Dev area for the evo is un-real, roms galore, kernel galore, everything is flashable and seems to be very easy to do.
A plus for the evo for sure.
With the right rom/kernel combo along with the seido 3500 battery, it was a incredible phone. Doing anything i needed it to when i needed it. Never having to worry about battery life.
i had no issues with the evo, but i did have to return it due to it overheating and shutting off until cooled (kernel issue and something i did im sure), i got it replaced and was happy as a clam.
As for samsung, i critized them and hated on them every chance i got.
the support for them always seemed to be crap and doing things on them seemed to be not as easy.
well some things happened id rather not discuss and i had to get rid of the evo, i found a Epic on craigslist(may 1st) and it was listed as a "galaxy pro" The guy didnt know what it was, but the pics showed it was a epic. i verified the ESN was clean and picked it up for $65.00!!
Couldn't pass that up at all, besides all that i needed another android, for a couple weeks i was using a beat up blackberry curve 8530 and seemed to be having withdraws lol.
Anyways i fell in love with the sammy as soon as i started playing with it. The screen is just poppy and incredible. it blows the evo screen away easy.
im not fond of slide out keyboards, but i figured with the screen being 4 inchs, id have no issue with adjusting from the evo and its 4.3 inch.
Touchwiz isnt all that bad either, i thought it would be worse, but its not bad at all. Can become adjusted to TWiz or Sense very quickly.
it fits well in my hand, but im too interested in the power button on the side, seems out of place. Really im used to the button up top along with the charger port on the bottom instead of the top, but love the little "door" on the charger port.
Dev area for the Epic is smaller, and a little more "intermediate" then the simple flash and go of the evo.
i miss the evo dev section, but have become used to the epic area and getting the hang of things quickly.
To be honest.
both phones are great, id be happy with either or. With the evo its all in the dev section, with the epic its all in the screen.
i wont be slamming samsung anymore because im just as happy as i was with the evo. i may go back to HTC for the ease of things after the evo 3d or something else comes out.
but im very comfortable with the epic and its a great choice in the android world right along side the evo.
the screen really is amazing. i like the camera better too. sometimes i wish i had a snapdragon phone just for roms, but this whole nexus S thing could change everything. sounds like a fair review to me. just flashed the ACS rom and its pretty damn good. will deffinitly tide me over till GB
I picked up an evo on launch day, broke it and jumped ship to the epic when it launched. While the evo had a better dev community imo, I still enjoy my epic. The screen is really what takes the cake. I could care less about the keyboard so next time I'm in the market for a phone I'm gonna sit back, observe the dev communtiy for a while when the new flagships launch and see what happens. I do love my epic but when it comes down to it, its all about development which I feel the epic lacks compared to the evo. The devs here are amazing, I just feel that things are much slower around here than the evo section. Still though this is a great phone. I've been running the ACS rom for a few days and its flawless. Not to mention I was able to get a day and a halfs worth of battery on it

I really like Touchwiz, I avoid roms that don't support it.
I first got my epic over the Evo because I knew the battery life was going to be much better. I'm not sure if it's really any different or not, I haven't used an Evo many times other than at work (I work with phones). I think the epic is better because of the AMOLED screen. Plain and simple, everything just looks better.

You know i forgot to say anything about the camera itself.
we all know the evo and HTC make ****ty camera drivers , constant complaint even though its a 8mp on the evo.
samsung on the other hand knows what they are doing in this regard.

i completely agree, same thing i was basically saying.
im running syndicate fully loaded myself.
having crappy battery but im trying to address all that as of right now.
My wife has an evo and I have the epic so I do have the luxury of flashing both. Yes the evo development section s is bigger buy there are so many roms they all copy each other. I like the roms hear as they all offer something unique. I also love the Amoled screen and the camera. The epic is faster in both cpu and gpu. They are both awesome phones I just prefer the epic. It is if u like to flash stuff to have an evo though. I can flash all day lol
Sent From My Evo Killer!!
This is what I like to see..a lot of people never give things a fair chance and go off baseless rumors....
For example:
1) Samsung does not support their phones:
This was kind samsungs fault as they promised an 2.0 update to the Behold and then never delivered..said it wasn't possible and only updated to 1.6...from then on everyone made the assumption that Samsung would NEVER update their phones...other manufacturers havent updated their phones either on plenty of occasions..sure its Samsungs fault for not delivering but you can't base everything on 1 occasion...Also a lot of people group "support" and "updating"...Samsung is know for its good support actually..
2) Touchwiz is the devil that lags up the phone and brings nothing
While all UIs add bloat..TouchWiz is not as bad as people make it out to be..most hate TouchWiz received was in the winmo days...and the old Touchwiz was junk..plus the new TouchWiz looks similar to the iphone in the app launcher thus mustering more hate...I wont say TouchWiz is the best UI..but its one of the cleanest UIs I've seen..
I find it Ironic how an HTC device has like 5 issues and people just go oh well..while if samsung has 1 issue people scream how Samsung sucks and they shouldnt have bought it...my only request is that people look at all manufacturers equally without bias and judge based on the overall product fairly..
So its not about who is better HTC or Samsung..its about who is it acceptable to buy from...and at this moment both HTC and Samsung are my options for buying...this gives me more choice...in the future I hope to add LG and maybe Motorola to my "acceptable" list if they meet my standards..and the more manufacturers that meet my standards the more "CHOICE" I have...I expect by the SGS 2 becoming mainstream the community will rival HTC devices in development..
What I really liked about the evo is that EVERYTHING Is flashable.
From radio updates,to pri, to anything you can think of.
You just download it and flash it, so simple.
Kernel support its also great.
thats what I miss most.
Not saying that the epic devs are bad, im loving avs.
But the evo area is def more popular.

can you reiterate? we can flash anything on the Epic as well...
But obviously they have a larger dev base due to:
1) Evo coming out first
2) People choosing HTC just because its HTC
3) Sprint spent their entire budget advertising the EVO while spent nothing to advertise the Epic until it won the pcworld #1 phone award..then they spent a little..
4) Nexus One giving a lot of grounds
5) Devs more used to how HTC does things
Well Odin has to be used for radios and stuff.
We cant simply flash a rom without checking what file system it is, things like that.
They are non existent on the evo.
Along with the whole rfs/ext system thing we don't need to worry about on the evo.

If you use cwm on the evo its basically the same as our epics, edify=cwm3 amend=cwm2. The bonus for the evo is amon RA which can go both ways. Just try flashing gb with cwm2 and well your in trouble.

Your joking right? I have only used odin once to flash the ec05 modem and I've flashed most of the eb13/ec05 roms, kernels, themes, ect. Actually I've flashed all eb13/ec05 kernels and have been on cm7 a1&a4. I avoid odin at all costs, but its always there just in case I goof. So far so good.
Ya. The epics screen is amazing. Im not buying no other device unless its amoled.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
The Epic is my first Android phone and I picked it over the Evo for two main reasons.
1) Physical keyboard
I thought I needed a physical keyboard and it turns out I do and I don't. For email/sms Swype works great. However for things like working in the terminal the virtual keyboard just doesn't work for me.
2) The screen.
Don't have to say much here
Overall I've been very happy w/ my Epic. Still need to test out Syndicate but for now rooted w/ the screen rotation lag fix is good enough.

Inc vs Thunderbolt

so I had an incdredible, got an iphone 4 (huge mistake), then got the thunderbolt. well im now back on the incredible and i gotta say that the inc is the fastest smoothest phone ive had so far. the thunderbolt felt laggy alot, even after i rooted it, no matter what rom i was on. i dont live in an area where 4g exists so that didnt matter. i also didnt like how big it was. im not even sure the inc 2 is as good as the inc 1. they decreased internal memory and increased the size of the screen... just seems a little weird that this phone seems to be better than the newer technology..
Agree with you!
I have been in Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular in the past few days checking all the phones out, and I can't find anything that is as quick and works as well as the Incredible. I would love to upgrade, but to me there is nothing to UPgrade to. The original Incredible is just an awesome phone.
That's weird. I'd think the added 256mb of RAM would make it faster.
I wonder if it's a matter of the Incredible having been out far longer and devs having more time to figure out how to optimize things for it?

it has better tech because it's older, and more time was put into it. the thunderbolt has crappy tech, sense 2.1. a good example, i was in the store the other day looking for a belt holster, i did find it, but, was comparing specs on the droid charge to the droid x, the droid x has a faster proc, i asked why the charge costed more since it has lower tech then the x. the rep said "well, this is newer, has dual core (WRONG) has a bigger screen (yeah, because i really need a 4.3 inch screen when 3.7 is serving me fine, ffs i use a 20" HDTV i got for 90 bucks on clearence, no it's not "1080p led, 120hz" crap, but it works.
Shoot Kiboe find me a HDTV deal like that! My husband would love you. LOL!
Yeah I got the Incredible the first day it was out. This phone works pretty good with the Synergy rom.
Sent from my Synergy Rom using XDA App
I have been looking around for a phone to tempt me away from the Incredible and nothing has even come close. What I find funny is the Verizon stores I've gone to are now locking the phones so you can't get into the settings and see what its specs are. This is truly the first phone that has lived up to its name.
C4H1LL why did you get rid of the iphone 4 out of curiosity? I'm track to buy the new one for verizon when it comes out.
I agree the Incredible is Incredible!!! I will cry when it brakes, running MIUI.US with Incredikernel. The Incredible 2 and the Thunderbolt are basically the same except Incredible2 is global and no LTE. All three have 1gig single core cpu's, but the overclock potential for the 2 and thunder would kill the original. I want a unlocked bootloader dual core HTC.

MIUI is a GREAT ROM, even if you're NOT trying to make your phone look like an Iphone. (I'm definitely not.)
Still have my dinc.. still an awesome phone. But my inspire has me hooked. Plus att coverage is way better in my area. ( sticks) . At this point in the game its really a battle of specs. To me its all becoming overkill if you think bout it.. while having the latest and greatest is nice. Staying one generation behind is always better. Why? Because of optimization..lol bugs worked out.

ha yea. For these android phones that is true, plus you get a huge discount is price.
You couldn't pay me to leave my Tbolt to go back to my dInc. Or the dInc2. A number of the early custom ROMs where pretty sorry, despite the best efforts of many devs. That mainly has to do with some pretty sorry base leaks from the Big Red Checkmark. I'm currently running a 3D ROM (not exactly easy on graphics) and it lags NONE at all. Furthermore, having 25 to 45 Mbps in your pocket is not something you ever want to give up.
Concerning the dInc2, that's a far better device than the original. The LCD is FAR brighter than the AMOLED, the CPU is more muscular, it's got more memory, it's got a screen large enough to reasonably display a keyboard, a decent front-facing camera, it's even more pleasant to the hand to hold, and it's actually difficult to kill the battery inside a day. If 4G wasn't a factor, I'd have a dInc2. 4G being a factor, the Tbolt is an industrial-strength device capable of summoning speeds as high as 45Mbps, leaving you effectively waiting for nothing. Really.... it downloads songs faster than you can open the music player and play them. Tethered or on the device, streaming HD quality video is NOT a big deal. I've downloaded 310MB ROMs in under 3 minutes.
not everyone is in a 4g market!!!!!!
if you have the money, go with the t-bolt, if not, just stick with the dinc until you do.
Lol had my Inc since early February. I'm happy with it and the specs aren't too low. I do have a bone to pick with HTC on their cruddy bluetooth system. It is pretty much my dependent internet connection when I'm at home. I can't get wireless out here and the closest thing we can get is dial up (not going back). I'm getting closer to go back to CM7 and get better bluetooth, but the camera sucks on it and I won't be able to use the tv out cable. While I have my issues with it, I'm happy I got it. I got it on sale for 50 bucks at Hhgregg, which in my opinion is a bargain. I don't think 4G will take off...at least not drastically for quite a while as its still being developed in many parts of the US. Maybe by the time my contract is up, I'll upgrade to a different Droid or a different non-HTC sense and Galaxy S device. Maybe get something with HDMI as well as more phones are coming with that lol. Plus with the unlimited data I'm grandfathered in and 4G data in the future, I will no longer have to go out for wifi But I'll be with my Incredible Droid until the contract is up. I might hold onto it and see if there's other purposes for it. I say if you can find this phone dirt cheap like Amazon had for .01 cent with a contract, not really into 4G yet, and could care less about a front facing camera then this phone is for you.
There are tech sites (tested.com) for example who talk about how this device is outdated and stuff.
It really isn't... it is a great phone and hasn't failed me yet. I just added on a bulky battery to mine though so it lasts over a day if I can't find a plug. The only con I had before was battery life.
I am probably going to end up dropping it one day and breaking it beyond repair and that is gonna force me to upgrade, because for what I use it for I don't see myself needing anything else yet.
I already replaced the digitizer twice lol... last time was just because it had a lot of scratches though

Are you rooted? There's probably a bunch of things you can do to help your battery life out, I'm on a 1900mAh battery that still fits in the stock case and I get over a day's use. I use a BUNCH of GPS and data too (according to VZW I used 20GB last month)
But yea the INC is growing a little old but there's nothing I have to complain about it, and no phone is a good enough upgrade for me to go for it.
One day though.. we will part our ways. Just got a new case for mine so I'm in love with it all over again..now spending hours on these forums. oh god. I need to go to sleep.

Upgrade

ok, so i am going to upgrade my phone soon, i have 3 choices and i am not sure which one to get; Motorola Milestone X, Samsung Galaxy S, or HTC Merge.
any thoughts?
I'd look up each on xda development website and see which has better ROM choices and which development teams are involved.
From that information I'd pick the one that has best and most options.
Good luck
V's CDMA Hero
I try to get a phone thats on Xda cspire really doesnt have any good phones that has development on here , you should wait till they release 4g
Are you talking about the Galaxy S 2, or just the Galaxy S? If it's the Galaxy S 2, go with that. I know people will come in and say Sammy is slow on updates, but I don't think they will disappoint with the S 2. Coupled with the last 2 Nexus phones have been Samsung, I think it shows Samsung's dedication to Android.
Otherwise, I'd get the Milestone X. I'm getting tired of HTC's shenanigans, so I'm looking to other manufacturers from here on out.

What shenanigans? I've heard much worse about the Samsung Galaxy S (Epic) compared to the HTC hero. GPS problems causing the phone to restart and difficulty developing. They only just got CM7.

im going with the motorola photon. not alot of development going on but thats not really a problem when the phone is beastly out the box(so i hear dont own one myself).but getting one in two weeks. im going to root it and run it stock, until some genius unlocks the bootloader without losing 4g.
I'm very seriously considering going with Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy SII, the Epic 4G Touch. I played with it at a friends' house and, even with the stock ROM, it is UNBELIEVABLE how much faster and better all around it is than our little workhorse Heroes.
I was not, however, too crazy about the Evo 3D. Even with a custom ROM, it seemed slow and sluggish by comparison to the stock Epic 4G. In the exact same location, the Epic 4G loaded everything faster, had much faster results on speedtest, and switched between apps much quicker. Plus the Epic is thinner and lighter, with a bigger screen.
I really don't know anything about the Photon. A 1ghz Tegra 2 is kinda slow these days, though. I looked at one in the store briefly, but the style was not very attractive to me. The piano black edges clashed with the matte black body. And they are fingerprint magnets.

I have an Evo 3D, and while it's definitely a step up from the OG Evo, HTC has killed the capability of the phone with their Sense UI. I don't get any FCs, but there is a lag when the the carousel is spinning. The frame rate of the spin is not very fluid. The only reason I have the 3D is because I was having issues with my Evo 4G, and it was replaced with a 3D. If I were in the market for a new phone today, I would go with the Epic Touch 4G, and not look back. But, I hope the Galaxy Nexus comes to Sprint, as I think I'm done with carrier customizations, since I always revert back to near vanilla Android (CMx) anyway. I just hope the 4th gen Nexus goes to Sprint (not due for an upgrade until Jan 2013), and has a LTE radio. I'd like for it to be a world phone, but will be satisfied with LTE and Jelly Bean, or whatever Googles uses for the letter J.
I own an evo as well haven't had not one issue. Slow ha never. If you on a Evo3d and its slow I'd definitely say its user error.

Compared to a SGS2 it is awfully slow. Just go to a retail store and compare the two. After seeing these two side by side outside of a store, I wanted to get an idea of what they were like in store, just in case you were right. You're not. Even in store, the difference is significant! It's really night and day. The SGS2 is significantly faster when loading web pages, has apparently a better radio because its speedtests were faster than the evo, when both were done side-by-side, and the SGS2 took and stored pictures about half a second faster.

Lol man everyone has there opinion, but to say I'm wrong lol that's a little different. I actually own a Evo3d you don't own either phone correct?? And you went to a store a played with two demos and did a comparison which IMO isn't accurate because you dont know how the phones were setup. And as far as speed tests go IMO there garbage. Real world performance is what matters. But to save a back and forth about a phone you currently don't own I'll post this. You get what ever phone works for you. And that's all that matters.

I don't think you read my first response. I played extensively with two of my friends' phones, one an SGS2, one an Evo 3d, both of which have cm7 loaded on them. I rebooted them both before I did a comparison. The SGS2 was _considerably_ faster in every respect. Then I went to a Sprint store to see if it was just some random thing. In the store, after rebooting them, the SGS2 was _significantly_ faster as well with both having stock roms that were wiped clean the night before my arrival.
All off the differences were real world differences. I think it's interesting to see speedtests act so differently, too, since both phones were priced at the exact same $199.99 level. The SGS2 was about 35% faster, repeatedly, when they did side-by-side comparisons. That matters to me, especially when every other phone operation was better, both under CM7 and stock.
The only thing I'm seeing in your response is that you haven't played with both phones and you think yours, without having done an empirical test, simply "must" be just as fast. Go compare for yourself, buddy.
As far as me reading your post incorrect that's a negative, your second post is greatly different than your first. How then could I have misread your first post and got the meaning of your second post when there obviously not the same. If what you posted in your second post was the point you were trying to make then don't you think you should have posted that instead?? "Its a rhetorical question" Also if that's all you get from my first post then hopefully you can gain a little more from this one. A good friend of mine has the sgs2 so I had the pleasure of handling the phone unrooted. Then just to spite me because I give him such a hard time about it he went and paid someone else to root it and put cm7 on it. After that I had the pleasure of handling the phone while being rooted. I will definitely say the sgs2 is a top noch phone but its not faster IMO than the Evo3d. As far as app loading, web page rendering, phone call connection, multitasking, multimedia upload & download, bootup time, shutdown time, etc. I've ran the sgs2 threw the paces of how I would use my phone and I would definitely still choose the Evo3d. So to shed a little light on the dark thought that you have of me just thinking "my Evo3d is faster" lol without giving the sgs2 a fair shot, I have spent enough time with the sgs2 to know that I would not want one. A fast phone yes but just not faster than the Evo3d. Its just my opinion. Also as I previously posted just get what phone you like best and if it works for you that's all that matters.

I encourage you to re-read what I said. You're mistaking my second post for my first one. This is now my fourth on the subject. It appears you completely ignored most of what I said.
Your story is convoluted and sounds pretty far-fetched. At this point, it looks like a fairly weakly-fabricated "me too." You have over 200 Thank Yous here (which, I agree is meaningless in the grand scheme of things), but you really expect me to believe the story you concocted with such poor grammar and a lack of basic punctuation? No offense, but is English not your native language? Perhaps that's why we're not understanding one another.
You don't have to believe me, but real-world usage, as well as all of the reviews with benchmarks show that the SGS2 eats the Evo 3D for lunch in almost every benchmark. That translates to real world performance, at least in how I use my phone. Perhaps you don't use yours as a multimedia device. That's fine, not everybody does. It's ok if you don't want to believe that, but it is the case as every professional review site will attest.

You ignored everything I said, absolutely everything.
You gave no evidence for your claims except for your fake story. I noted that every review that compares both phones shows the difference I saw. This isn't opinion. It's fact, proven by multiple benchmarks and side-by-side comparisons.
I'll make this easy for you. Watch this video. It's real world performance. There's a distinct advantage for the SGS2.
http://pocketnow.com/android/htc-evo-3d-vs-samsung-galaxy-s-2-video
I can understand if you prefer the Evo 3D for whatever reason. It's entirely acceptable to do so. However, to claim that its performance is better than the SGS2 is, simply put, wrong on almost all accounts. I didn't expect someone with so many Thanks to be such a jerk. It's good to admit when you're wrong. You might try some humility sometime.
I heart my NS4G that cost me $30. Paying $200 for a phone at this stayof the game is rather pointless imo, but I am enjoying browsing these hero threads without being bombarded by repeat ICS posts
Edit: that should be stage of the game

Just upgraded, saying thanks

Loved my Atrix, even though I had to replace it twice, it was great. It made me convert from the iphone to android and I wont go back. Saying thanks to all the Devs for all the support.
Upgraded to the Blue Galaxy S3, and I love this phone. It is the first iphone killer android ever released. Cant wait to start swapping roms!
Good luck and keep us informed!
Glad that you enjoyed the atrix, I myself am waiting for an update before I look into getting another phone. Truth is, I am just starting to tap the potential of this phone with the lap dock and dock unit hooked up to a monitor with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I have only ever used an Alien version from Kenneth Penn (sp?) But I think I am to the point, once ICS comes out and people have a chance to play with it, I may up clock mine and put some other rom on it. I don’t think I will go beyond 1.3 GHz, but I have never even seriously looked into it. I have had the option of an upgrade, but this phone is so fantastic with the FS, peripherals and speed, I have yet to see a phone come close to all that I use this for.
Perhaps a tablet and integrated phone combo will be my next option? IDK the transformer infinity looks to be a decent tablet, and I could use that for work and easily justify it.
Keep us up to date on like and dislikes in comparison to the atrix please!

I really love the large screen, at first it was overwhelmingly large but after a few hours I love it. Also love the 720p res and the crisp vibrant colors. Also its very smooth and fluid with the 2gb of system ram and 1.5ghz dual core.
ICS is really nice on this. I think I will keep the stock rom for a few weeks before flashing a new one.
A week ago I also switched to a Galaxy S III and I'm loving it too. I'm passing the Atrix down to my daughter -- it still has a lot of useful life left in it. The Atrix was also the phone that convinced me to switch from my IPhone. The Atrix really has been a phenomenal phone for me. I'm gonna miss it. Thus far I've determined that the bluetooth radio in the Atrix is better than the S3. But in all other regards I think the S3 is an advancement from Moto's awesome phone from last year. My daughter is gonna love the car and lap docks that I'm also passing down to her. Will be nice when the Atrix gets ICS too.

I can't blame you the development community has really slowed down. Seems like lots of devs have moved on. The two best nonbeta roms (neutrino and Nottach) have not been updated in some time. The cm9 roms are nice but stuck in limbo until official ICS.
I myself went to a OneX but returned due to poor call quality. It was rough coming back to a small grainy screen but for the size the Atrix is a great phone. It carries very well.
I was very close to picking up an s3 but we had some home repair bills around the house (dead AC, blown water tank) and I'm not 100% sure if I want to renew my ATT contract or go with something like Straightalk.
Also went to a White GS3 and its wonderful. Was using CM9 and didn't realize how choppy the Atrix was til I had something better. It was a fun ride but I can't keep waiting for nvidia/motorola to get their **** together.

I really hear you guys.
I might switch to the galaxy nexus, because my phone might have a motherboard problem(really hoping that it doesn't). However I feel terrible about it because this phone has SOOOO much potential, but it's marred by laggy choppy firmware, closed drivers. The atrix is a really great phone , and I wanna see the day when it'll run as smooth, stable, and fast as the the galaxy nexus on jelly bean. I know the atrix can, and then I'll know this phone is truly complete.
And hats off to the atrix dev community, for being one of the most effective on xda, especially with our limited drivers and resources
Well add me to the list. I too went with a GS3. Love it, but I still love this Atrix. I purchased a micro sim adaptor just so I could continue to use this baby. It actually feels faster and my GS3 is over clocked to 1890mhz. Still rocking the stock rom rooted with nothing frozen for now. Battery is no where near what I get with my Atrix, but like I said ...early stages of modding the Galaxy. I still read the forums when time allows and appreciate the dev community. You have all been great and a stepping stone to the path of making this phone more then the first dualcore power house that it is. Thanks!

thining about getting the M

i have been eyeing the s3 for a while but have steered away from it due to build quality, and sheer size of the device.
i really like the smaller size of this phone, especially after seeing my girl with it for so long, and how convenient it has been for her. it seems to preform well even stock, as she is very timid towards rooting and romming.
my first question : would you guys suggest this phone?
i currently have a droid x2, and it has been interesting to say the least . i am looking for something dependable (which i know most motorola's are, even the dx2 was) as well as something that can perform. how is performance in your eyes?
one more thing, there is a successful method for unlocking the bootloader in the retail edition from what i have read..... is this the case? if so, do you guys see development for this device growing in the future? or does it seem to be dying down.?
thanks in advance, it seems like a pretty trusty little phone from what ive read.

I still love the phone even if it were stock (which its not) and I ALWAYS long for an upgrade 6 months after getting a phone.I have NO desire to replace it. The size is perfect, build quality outstanding, battery life great, performance good, it has almost the latest OS which for an android phone that's not a nexus is about as good as it gets. The one reservation I had about it and all Motorola phones was the locked bootloader but with that cracked and AOSP CM10.1 (4.2.2) I'm in love!. I just bought my wife a Titanium (Best Buy only) M in like new (no evidence of use) condition with case and sd card off eBay for $250 and honestly I want hers too lol. Got mine in the same condition in white off of eBay as well but for $350 which then was a great price for a like new M.
The one drawback is the smallish partion for apps on the internal SD card and as far as I can tell no easy or reliable apps to SD (I did it with one app which one day borked, wiped and destroyed my micro sd). This kind of kills this phone if your a mega gamer (mulitple games with 500+mb data will quickly wipe out internal space).
there is a bootloader unlock on this now. which makes it even more exciting, and maybe will produce that much more development.
i think it is an all around great phone from all of the research ive done. i just want to make sure the same X2 experience doesnt happen again. lol
another HUGE thing is that this phone is not huge. just when you thought phones would turn into tablets, the razr M comes along. hopefully it starts a trend in making them small again.
thanks for all the responses guys, i will be joioning the ranks in about two weeks. :good:

keep in mind that most development is CDMA (VZW) based, but there are "fixes" to make them work on GSM carriers.

yeah i am vzw. as much as it pains me to say it.
Definitely recommend the M. The battery life for me has been great. I do keep bluetooth and GPS off all the time, but my wife keeps both on and her phone will still go a couple days without charge. i used mine throughout the day, and as well as as a hotspot while storm chasing and it will easily go the whole day for me.
Selectel Wireless
Anyone using this phone on PagePlus, Straight Talk, or Selectel Wireless? I am thinking of ditching my S3 and USCC. Nothing but problems with reception.
This is a midrange device. I cannot recommend it. The only reason I got this is because my nexus shattered when I dropped it. I hate the keyboards lag on this phone, and pretty much lag all around. But I like that it is splashproof...
Other than that, low res screen, no tv-out, weird storage, etc.... good phone for my wife, but she's rockin s4....won't trade
