[ROM] HTC Eris March 2011 OTA Stock ROM - v2.41.605.6 - Droid Eris Android Development

Here is a flashable version of the full HTC Eris stock ROM - v 2.41.605.6.
March2011_OTA_ReferenceROM_v1.zip ( 99,606,802 Bytes; MD5: 770786915545a16f564a42e344ce7bb6 )
( 02/15/2012 - Re-hosted download link - thanks to XDA user doogald for providing a home for this ROM )
This is what you would get if you took the HTC 2.1 Leak-V3 PB00IMG.zip (same thing as the "Official 2.1 RUU") ROM, and then upgraded it twice - first with the July 2010 OTA, and then after that with the March 2011 OTA. (Using this ROM flash basically saves you that trouble.)
The ROM itself is completely stock, but unlike the "Flashback21" series of ROMs, this flash does not restore a stock recovery, nor flash any radio firmware - you can use it just like any other ROM.
(It is not meant to used for preparing a phone for resale or return - use the FlashBack21 ROM for that).
AGAIN, please note that this ROM is completely stock - it is not even rooted.
Feel free to use it as the basis for other 2.1 Sense ROMs.
If you want to have a "pure HTC stock ROM", but with the benefits of overclocking and rooting, I suggest you flash the "engtools3.zip" and Conap's "CFSv9" kernel immediately after flashing this. This would get you "stock+root+overclocking" - kind of like the original "PlainJane" ROM, but patched up to the current (3/2011) HTC software release.
One other note. Out of curiosity, I decided to run some benchmarks on a GB ROM vs. this HTC ROM, but using the same kernel (CFSv9), and clocked at a fixed rate (setCPU min = max = 748Mhz). So, I performed the kernel replacement and then ran a couple benchmarks.
This allows a crude comparison of what the improvements in the underlying dalvik engine have been between the Eclair release and the Gingerbread release - it is sort of "apples to apples" because the same kernel, scheduler, applications, and clock rates are used.
The numbers here are not the absolute benchmark values, but rather their RATIO - GB:Eclair. (In the cases where the benchmark value is "lower = better", or elapsed time, the value is inverted so that in all cases, a number greater than 1.0 indicates an improvement in Gingerbread). I used JIT = on, and compcache off for the GB ROM.
Code:
Ratio Benchmark
1.57 Quadrant Full
1.16 Elapsed Time (wall clock time) for Quadrant Full
1.10 setCPU "Long Bench"
0.96 setCPU "Native Bench" **
-.-- Linpack for Android - Skipped (not meaningful - too sensitive to JIT)
** This one should be very close to 1.0, as native code does not depend on the dalvik app engine.
In "real world" terms, Quadrant's raw score probably is not too meaningful - but notice that in elapsed time for the full benchmark, the GB ROM was consistently about 16% faster to completion. That measurement - wall clock time - is a "real world" metric. So, in addition to all the other goodness of Froyo/GB, you do seem to get a decent improvement - 10 to 15% - by switching to GB.

I think that the superlatives being tossed around here are causing the eyes of the real devs in this forum to roll backwards in their heads. I hope not!
There's not much skill in putting a stock ROM together - just a bunch of checking to make sure you've got all the symlinks, file modes, and permissions set up correctly. Then, zip it up and sign it!
( I did load it onto my phone and check everything to make sure nothing had gone horrible wrong; I suppose that counts for something - but that's not mad skilz, either. )

Looks like it is mostly bug fixes with some enhancements in the Exchange client, MMS capabilities, and several other things.
Here is what Verizon had to say about it.
I did a "file differences analysis" (see this XDA post) that showed that 101 (out of ~127) different pre-installed apps had (.apk) changes, and 20 different framework libraries (.jar) showed changes too. Whether they were major or minor, I don't really know - just that it was apparent that a lot of stuff got "touched". The "system" image in both releases have a little north of 810 files in them - about 260 of those got changed.
I only had the ROM running for a short period of time (to do testing); the one thing that I noticed is that on my home WiFi (uses WPA), the association process was instantaneous - that was sort of rare for me in the past.

Was the radio changed at all in this update?

bftb0, the amount you help EVERYONE, no matter what ROM they are running or trying to run, is extraordinary. You may feel that you're "just doing your thing", but you deserve the praise that you get.

I never had problem with WiFi and stock, but I do for sure with CM ROMs running CFS when I turn on WiFi from a widget. However, just to test, I flashed CFS v9 over this last night, turned off WiFi for a while, then turned it back on from the widget, and it also associated right away for me.

I have themed this ROM and am about 80% done with it. Thanks for this runs really well on the stock kernal. I am just wondering how popular 2.1 is now with Froyo and GB out. If there was a base of people that like sense eclair I would consider releasing it once it was finished.

I would love a theme with a blue battery and themed dialer! Would it be similar to the "Sensibility for Sense 2.2" theme you were working on?

No offense to anyone, but I would likely only even try the March OTA in the form of an updated ROM from zach.xtr, or if I modified it myself.
Nothing against you, it's just that whenever I want to go back to near stock, xtr's ROMs are just too well established for me to experiment with anything else.

[ROM][DEAD] Retro1 v2 - "Is it a Dream? No, it's a Freken Cupcake!"

This is no longer supported.
So, one day Kaos pointed out an old beta build, and this got me to looking around at old ROMs. I took a look at JF1.5. Vanilla Cupcake! It's a nice ROM, but was difficult to port. So, I said to myself... Tainted Cupcake! Here is the result.
Thanks to:
JesusFreke for, well, too much to list.
Kaos for the inspiration.
Hoban for the inspiration.
almost everyone in the IRC channel for teaching me something
dsixda for cranking out an awesome Kitchen, day after day
Anyone who has ever posted DETAILS to XDA about how to do things.
All devs for your time.
Both of you who want to go back to Android 1.5.
EDIT:I almost forgot Captainkrtek who did some early testing for me. (Did I get that in before he ban
The base ROM is a stock Eris 1.5 ROM that jcase put 'su' and 'superuser' in, but I won't thank him since he said not to.
What you get:
1) Android 1.5 base from HTC
2) su and Superuser (rooted)
3) deodexed
4) png optimization (most apks anyway)
5) zipaligned
6) most of Sense removed, much like the 'Tainted' ROMs
7) most remaining HTC apps have a Vanilla look and feel (at least the icons)
8) stability
9) responsive user interface
10) wireless and wired tethering (I haven't tested the wired yet though.)
11) bash and nano
12) 'Everything' should work.
What doesn't and never will work:
1) Marketplace apps that require Android 1.6+
2) any feature that requires Android 1.6+ (Live Wallpapers, for instance)
Other features this DOES NOT HAVE:
1) Cyanogen goodies
2) OC, UV, and other kernel tweaks
3) Apps2SD
4) any kind of Yogurt
TO-DO:
1) disable OTA updates - I renamed the ota cert file, but it still gets the update...
2) setup the initial home screen better - I've tried changing that in the Launcher.apk, but have yet to get it to work.
I highly recommend Connectbot for a terminal app, but v496 works best on this ROM.
Just so I'm clear, this is a really basic and clean ROM. There are not a lot of extra features. However, the battery life is really good because of this.
DO NOT install the Verizon OTA update. It will most likely unroot your phone. v2 won't ask anymore
DOWNLOAD:
http://surrette.org/roms/Retro1-v1.zip
http://surrette.org/roms/Retro1-v2.zip
What I did:
1) loaded up the base Eris 1.5 ROM in the Kitchen
2) looked at the Tainted Vanilla Kitchen to find the script used to remove Sense components
3) ripped that part of the script out and ran it to remove Sense
4) compiled AOSP Cupcake (using Android Builder) and copied several apps from there into ROM
5) tested and found AOSP MMS would FC, so I put HTC's back
6) tested and found that AOSP Cupcake's Email app does not have Exchange support, so put HTC's back in.
7) opened up several apks with APK Manager and replaced HTC's icons with icons from Vanilla apps
8) opened up Launcher and attempted to change res/xml/default_workspace.xml, but testing afterward always failed
9) also grabbed a handful of open source binaries from here and there, but really haven't used them much yet
10) zipped, signed, and uploaded the ROM
11) NOTE: While this is version 1, it's probably the 30th or more build that I have actually built and tested. Fun times.
12) v2 - removed Systemupdater.apk (thanks tenzomonk!) and a couple of things left over from testing (CorpCal & Vanilla Contacts)
13) v2 - added several tweaks from the forum and KaosFroyo's *.rc files (vm.dalvik.heap=32m and some possibly power saving tweaks)
I have been running some variation of this for most of the last two weeks, except for one day that I tried a Froyo ROM. While I am admittedly easy to please, I have had no issues that haven't been worked out by now.
Why not? I'm DLing now. Gonna try tonight.

I just flashed this a while ago and so far i like this rom but i couldn't place a call, sync with google, there's no gallery, and none of my music would show up. I also just caught that there's no calendar app right before i was about to post this. Other than those problems, everything seems fast and smooth.
Update: just reflashed and phone is now working, music showing up, and google synced all my contacts.

I'm glad it started working for you. As I said in the OP, I've had no issues. (Of course, I'm just one tester.) You are going to miss some things that you would have with a newer version of Android, but it should just work. And the battery life is really good.

I've started grabbing the logcat while it boots to work out any possible issues. It's crazy stable already though. And I haven't put it on the charger since yesterday morning and still have %60+. That's by far the best battery life this thing has had in a long while.
Don't you miss the extra features of 2.0+ though? The amazing battery life you described sounds great but I feel like rolling back from 2.2 to 1.5 would be tough to deal with lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I change ROMs at least every couple of weeks though. So, I'll have those features again soon enough. This is just another fun learning experience for me and a chance to put something out there that is different than any thing else. I like to be different. And shake things up a little. That's just how I roll. Wait until I really understand what I'm doing!
There might actually be a handful of people who really like this ROM and use it daily. Although I'm sure that it won't get the user base of some of the others, but so what...
<JOKE>
Maybe next I'll make a ROM that just has the phone/dialer app with all of this bluetooth, wifi, gps, market, data connection crap disabled. That would be awesome. I'll call it 'Startac'. </JOKE>

Feedback about some custom ROMs I tried after rooting [Legend]

Hi there,
After managing to root my recent Legend (HBOOT 1.01 / OTA 2.2) using Blay0's manual I started trying...
Cyanogen 6.1: too "Gothic" for me (might be because it's my first Android phone and I kinda got hooked to sense / clean looks) Seems to be very tweakable though...
B 0.7: WiFi didn't work (sort of known issue which is mentioned there, but I didn't try the proposed solution, since I wanted to try other ROMs first
Modaco r4: ok, nothing special
YogenTouch: most beautiful and smooth one around, though 2 showstoppers for me: no choice of standard languages (especially chinese pinyin input) and G-sensor doesn't work [EDIT 2011-02-20: apparently a patch was released to make the G-sensor work]. Actually when I read about nu4a-yt1 I liked the feature set even more (get rid of facebook crap etc.), but without solving the showstoppers I'll first look on.
@moderators: could I please get permission to post to that thread (this one), it's kind of frustrating that I have real input here which could help making these ROMs better, but I have no way of providing my feedback (just because I don't have 10 posts yet). Thanks!
To be updated....
Cheers
UPDATE:
been using this one FroYo | Mdj Droid L2.1.110210 | with HTC Sense | Base 3.18.751.2 | App2SD+ for a bit more than a week now, without issues. It's quite similar to a stock HTC Sense Froyo ROM from a looks/functionality point of view.
When I find the time though, I plan to make an own ROM, mainly inspired by YogenTouch but without social apps (a bit like nYT) but with more languages.
Hey Penguin,
Nice of you to join us
But before you post such thread, think about the real contribution, not that it isn't appreciated, but you're mixing apples and oranges here, comparing Sense and nonSense ROMS, Eclair with Froyo...
It would be nice to clear what's what first ...
Oh and by the way B0.7 wifi works just fine for me...
Agree about the frustration not being able to contribute to the development forum. There's a few things I've learned along the way and there have been a couple of occasions where I reckon I could have helped a poster.
To add my 20c worth, I'm really happy with BlaYo's ROM, everything works the way it should and there's some cool stuff which brings it to another level - I'm especially liking the extra battery life I'm getting with his kernel and SetCPU.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
It should not be a biggie, right? You're just 7 posts away
Hey you're right, I should stay positive... 6 now...
Thanks for your welcome;-)
I guess what got me to try that YogenTouch was that it said "espresso 2.2" on the package, which suggested froyo. Anyway, it is mainly the graphics design which appeals to me. (speed might be higher, though I'm quite ok with FroYo too.)
I guess I'll have another go at B0.7, wait for 0.8 or bake my own (though too busy lately)
oh,btw, about the apples and oranges... that was actually intended, because it is actually the first thing anyone new to android and without having experienced the freedom of a rooted phone before would want to try. (which "style" is best for me, sense, stock, clean, tweaks, ...)

nDAF 1.7.5
It's been a while...
Ok, I have gone to BlaY0 0.7 since, which I'm positive about.
Then I noticed Blay0's mention of nDAF in the B 0.7 thread, just what I was looking for. (I like anti-social android )
So I've been a happy nDAF 1.7.5 user for 3 weeks now, I can highly recommend it!
Just recently discovered 1 glitch: account sync doesn't seem to do anything! Pressing the button "sync all" has no effect whatsoever. Logcat doesn't seem to output anything related either. Going to my google account and pressing "sync now" also does nothing.
Any ideas?
The account sync problem went away by itself. (I had wiped cache and rebooted before without effect, but it seems the problem went away after my last reboot, though I didn't do anything special)
I guess I'll remain happy with nDAF until I find time to make my own ROM (or if B 0.8 will have very compelling reasons)
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
b.0.7 seems great... u have to flash the patch for wifi issues....
right now i'm on cm7 rc4 and experiencing a new world on legend... but for daily use b.0.7 is a nice choice from my point of view...
and if u want a sense-free froyo rom superbler is the best choice
Long due update:
Thumbs up for BlaY0's 0.8.4!
Did a clean install (wiped all and got a new sd card while at it, with ext partition according to BlaY0's partitioning guide for a2sd) and restored with titanium backup).
I'm getting better battery life (1 long day and still around 30% left with normal use).
Had to use the wifi patch to make wireless work (and stock font patch for comfortable reading).
Highly recommended! Thanks to BlaY0 for the ROM and Ogo2 for his useful mods!
Cheers

Leedroid vs RCMixHD

Hi guys,
I have had my HD for a while now, and have been going back and forth with different roms and what not.
I settled for a Leeddroid HD Gingerbread Beta 4 rom (which works well).
And then I tried the RCmixHD rom (the most complete one as it says)
But I have a problem... when I use the RCmixHD rom, I keep losing signal...
why is that? any clues?
I strongly believe you have a radio issue. Try flashing the recommended radio of the rom. You can find out more in that thread
Yupp.. Different roms recommend different radios.. I experience that too..
Use Leedroid HD 3.0.0
Very nice!
jerrylzy +1.
Just flashed it and it's awesome, also flashed MDJ v6 kernel as Lee recommended, no lags or bugs for me now.
P.S. Never had lost signal issues with RcMix... Try re-flash radio.
Considering that the latest RCMixHD requires the radio found in the 2.16 generic gingerbread rom (or higher radio) that is probably the cause of the issues you're experiencing.
I've used all the major roms, but I found RCMixHD to be the best, but then I put together my own rom, with a lot of items borrowed from the RcMixHD, and CoreDroid, but changed a bunch of things and cleaned up the build.prop and code found in a few other files. nothing too major just a bit cleaner . There was a lot of unneccessary repetition in the build.prop's of the other roms.
JSLDr0iD 4G v1.01 ( driphter.com/index.php?topic=3884.0 )
This is mainly for the North American DHD (Telus DHD/AT&T Inspire 4G and hsupa is enabled) but it works for the euro/asian dhd's as well
The main version is OC's with MDJ V series kernel, but there is a verison with the stock kernel available.
Download is hosted on our server (Driphter.com) and is a fast download as well.
Sorry, but I cant post a direct link until my 8th reply (kinda lame but I guess its tp prevent bots from spamming the forum), so you're going to have to copy and paste into the address bar.
I just flashes the Leedroid 3.0 and I am fully stisfied. I have no signal issues whatsoever. Additionally, i put in the Sense 3.0 lockscreen (unfortunately I'm still not able to customize it or to find out if it is possible ^^)
I was ob Revolution HHD Beta 4 Gingersense before, wich was awesome too. Then I switched to leedroid. 2.3. for overclocking.
would like to know something about this aswell
using the latest leedroid, but I just saw the RCMixHD 6, should I change? Can't be bothered to flash unless it's worth it ha.

The latest batch of RCMixHD v6 has quite a few issues (caused by the sense 3.0 items), mail doesnt work, scene picker doesnt download new scenes properly, and 'skins' does not function at all.
you may want to hold off until the issues (which is more than just the 3 listed) are fixed.

Mail works just fine for me now, version 6.1.0.1
What would you recommend for RCmix? As i'm getting some pretty poor mobile data and GPS signals, wifi is fine, never use bt, but the MD and GPS are pants on my current radio which was superb on the 5.9.7 rom from RCMix.
Any ideas? Oh and to the original question about rc mix or leedroid, it all depends on what you want, personally i prefer rcmix, i've used them since i had a hero when it first came out, they're a good team and make great roms, but to be honest most of the devs on xda and villain are good eggs so like i said it's all down to you and what you want.
Rcmix seems to be more bleeding edge while leedroid is more stable.
In fact the only issue I've encountered with leedroid is stocks app crashing but I usually remove that app anyway.
Sent from my Gingerbread loaded Desire HD.
well using leedroid you do get rcmix crt and things, even it is not credited properly
But the lack of sense 3.0 stuff in leedroid does make it more stable. For people that need their phones to be stable and dont have the time to flash a new rom every day or two.
Capy, even though I love the RCMixHD Rom with where its headed, its something that I can put on the backburner, in regards to use. Even Leedroid has issues that needs to be fixed, there's just not as many at the moment.
I'm still using the stock 2.36, rooted with gingerbreak, as I continue work on my ROM based on it. Did you get my pm regarding the build.prop?
well i am redoing the whole rom, trying to make it different, but i dont know i am getting a bit sick of alot of requests from peopel to do their work so they can release things, and many doesn't credit, and roms popping up all over, so kinda feel maybe it is time for new device dunno yet

Well, I'm simply working on cleaning up htc's code, I dont want to add anything as of yet, other than keeping the power screen from your Rom (that functionality is too much of necessity which I'm surprised isn't part of the official builds). Though progress is slow as I'm finalising v5.1's of my blackberry hybrids. Cheers capy.
well right now i am working on a pure clean port of kingdom instead
I'm pretty sure you could use items from Rider as well

Maybe you need to use the recommended radio specifically for each rom, they might be different ?

Which ROM provides the best battery life?

I just got a DHD and have rooted and installed Android Revolution, but I am wondering which ROM has the best battery life?
A typical day for me would include:
Short call (not often)
Heavy texting
Occasional mobile data sessions (short periods of time)
Occasional Wifi
bluetooth off, wifi off unless needed, mobile data off unless needed, screen brightness about 20%, screen timeout 15 seconds
With The latest HTC update i'vê made about 20h on heavy use (lots of 3G and wifi, email, texting, twitting, browsing)

I have to say, since moving to GB and LeeDroid 3.0.2 it's much better for battery than it ever was on 1.3x firmware. Getting a lot less drain, though that could conceivably be due to the fact I have less applications installed now.
I'd recommend trying any GB ROM, you should see a positive difference.

+1 for LeeDroids ROM if you like Sense. I found it gave instantly noticeable battery improvements but what ever ROM you use it's important to try different radio's (and matching RIL files) as these can have the biggest effect (For more info about radio and RILs please check the development forum as all your questions will have already been answered).
Using a Kernel that allows both underclocking and under-voltage will help too when used with SetCPU profiles (again, just browse the dev forum).
Hi there,
I have not tried any LeeDroid ROM's as yet but am currently using CoreDroid 2.3.3 V6.0 and the battery life is really good, plus it's got some Sense 3.0 features which are a cool addition. RCMix ROM's are very very nice also.
As Mr_JMM mentioned the right radio and RIL makes a huge difference to the battery life. It's a case of trying a few ROM's out and seeing what works best for you.
Android Rev 3.5-
Heavy use I get 18 hours use (by that I mean till 20%, where I charge it)
Running Overclock kernerl to 1.6ghzz
Wifi & 3G on all day (this is remarkable for me because pre custom Rom I'd get 18 hours with normal usage and I've have to keep 3G and Wifi off if I wasn't using it)
I can only speak for two roms; the telco bloatware Rom, and LeeDrOID's silky smooth rom, radio and kernel combination.
The battery clearly loves the latter as much as I do.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Definitely +1 for leedroid, lee does some really good work with his custom kernal.
For me it's CM7. I usually get about 30-40hours with medium use which includes things like txting, calling, some browsing over wifi, testing out apps, email, wifi always on and maybe a game.
Though I keep my brigtness around 25% unless I'm outside in day time when I need to bump it up.
For a phone of this magnitude and a pretty small battery I find that quite fair.
I'm on stock 1.32 and I get about 10 hours under moderate use. This can shrink to 6 if I play angry birds for an hour. I have two emails which check every 30 mins; twitter updates every 10; mostly on wifi; never use bluetooth or gps; and screen set to automatic brightness.
I would absolutely love to get the numbers you guys are talking about. I'm shocked to see that you are even getting those numbers of hours while overclocking with heavy use. I now have a reason to tinker around with mods and radios. Those usage hours are in Nokia territory

This is problem number one. What is the reason for this? You should be on at least 1.7x.xx

Do you not have a gmail account? That uses push so won't poll for new emails (battery consuming).

Tinkering with mods and radio's involves rooting your phone (to start with) so the first thing you can then do is upgrade to Froyo or Gingerbread which straight away will improve your battery life even before you do anything else.

I'm on 1.32 because my WWE unbranded hasn't gotten any updates yet. HTC has been treating WWE unbranded users like second class citizen. Still waiting on the gingerbread update (hopefully soon), and then I will root and start exploring the mod world.
Regarding gmail. I do have a gmail account, but i'm not using the gmail application. I'm using the standard HTC mail application. It seems to me to be treating gmail as pull email because it asks me for a frequency to check. Am I correct in this assumption?
Sorry, I haven't answered your original question. The best ROM for battery will vary depending on what else you want and what radio and Kernel you use. In general a GB based ROM like LeeDroid's will be excellent if you wish to keep Sense UI.

Gingerbread? You should have got the Froyo months ago. If you didn't get Froyo I'd be surprised if you got Gingerbread. If it were me I'd contact the network and ask about this. Seems very strange.

May I ask why? Only because if ther is no real reason it would help your battery life a littel and as it is native you will get all of the advantages of gmail which are missing from the HTC mail app.

Yes but when you set the phone up you would have had to sign into a gmail account (to use Market etc.). Is that gmail account the same as either of the ones you have in the stock mail app?

Don't wait for official GB update and then try to mod as you will have to downgrade to root and the rest. You are on 1.32 which is perfect to get you started.
Another thing is if you upgrade to official 2.3.3 update you will get some HTC bugs as they always leave some bugs to piss people off.

1.32 is FroYo, also I don't think DHD came with anything lower then FroYo when it was released. I personally think Sense is a battery killer and definitely a resource hog.

That was confusing the hell out of me. I didn't think there was anything less than Froyo on the DHD but then I didn't think Froyo went down to 1.32.
Thank you for clearing that up.
In that case ozaghloul it just seems odd that you never got the 1.7x.x.x update. I know only very few networks rushed out the 1.8x.x.x update but I thought everyone got the 1.7x.x.x. Well again, fingers crossed for you.
You can try Leedroid ROMs and if you dont like sense, put the nosense patch and use other launcher.
I've got leedroid 3.0.2 with MDJ V11 kernel and launcherPro and my battery life is very good

Whats Launcherpro do? I also I have Leeroid 3.0.2 but with Leeroids Kernel, wats MDJ v11 kernel and is it better?
I am currently using the RCMix Kingdom 0.1 rom with excellent results, considering it's a 1st release. Also added MDJ kernel 11 to boost it a bit - but as in ALL releases a bit of reading helps ( having a decent search facility for single thread would help tho, XDA ! )
Hi, I have only had my dhd for a couple of weeks but I've found leedroid's rom to be very good on battery. I'm currently trying out kingdom v0.1 with mdjv11 kernel.
Hope this helps.

Anthony

CLOSED TEST - (no longer Looking) for Beta Testers with ICS Experience - BETA CLOSED!

I am closing the beta for the time being, have a handful of testers atm. It may open up again, stay tuned.
You know the name of the game. Experienced ICS users only please.
I have been putting together a frankenstein type ICS build, blending some tweaks with:
-Beta 2.5.1 i9000
-Beta2 by goodoane
-ICS_4.0.1_r1-Beta2-i9000.zip by onecosmic
-Recommended using the FuguMod_Vibrant_Kernel_BETA2.zip from here: http://code.google.com/p/ice-cream-...mmary+Uploaded+ReleaseDate+Size+DownloadCount (the kernel is included in the zip)
-Also recommend the KB5 modem, from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19795419&postcount=130 (this is also included in the zip, but its not flashing with the rom as of right now)
This has some framework, build.pop, and ui tweaks applied, but I've pulled back on the theming to direct my attentions to functionality.
-Keymapping is corrected
-Can mount via MTP mode
-Moutning works in recovery
-ADB and Shell both work
-SU out of the box
-Lockscreen rotates and screen rotates 360 degrees
Not working:
Must toggle mute (on then off) in order to be heard by incoming callers
GPS
Video Recording
Video Playback (buggy)
You tell me what else to add here.
Installation: (coming from another ICS build, or CM7 only!!)
-Reboot to recovery, perform a factory reset
-Go to mounts and storage and format system
-Flash the Beta2 Kernel (FuguMod_Vibrant_Kernel_BETA2.zip)
-Flash the rom
-Flash your modem (no longer need to reflash the kernel)
-Fix permissions
-Reboot the phone
New Info
As you guys have read, I have been running the data data tweak from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20017090&postcount=1756 and it seems to have made things a lot more stable. No odd application issues going on anymore, although there is a bit more lag, but I think I have found a temp fix for that.
Since Friday night I have been running AutoKill Memory Optimizer, free version from the market. Its not a task killer really, but it maintains the amount of free system memory on your device, from what I understand. I am using Aggressive settings, with the Advanced settings for Memory and Battery enabled, and my phone is flying!
If you guys want, give that a shot, and let me know your results.
*******************************
So, who wants to test?
First, you promise not to release this or share it with anyone, by signing up you agree to this one term.
You should have experience with ICS, and know how to flash it and recover from a bad flash.
If you've never flashed ICS before, you definitely want to start there.
I am looking to possibly release this to the wild by the end of the week, so active testers are a big plus!
When I feel like I have enough testerss I will post that on the top of this post, just ask in here, and I will pm you a link.
I'll test, running ICS now.. I know how to do a little above basic stuff.

can you fix the problem with (i guess all ICS) people not hearing me right?
sometimes they hear me ok, sometimes too loud, or not at all.
i''ve tried to hold and resume but it doesn't fix the issue every time.
this should be a top priority for any rom.
i returned to your zen froyo. it is nice and battery holds 4-5 days for me.
thank you.

Toggling mute fixes it for me every time. I do plan on looking into that, but I'm not there quite yet.
So, no new takers?
I'll test it out... I've been on the i9000 ICS ROM for about 2 weeks now.
Link sent, thx
Ok, I'll Bite. Have experience with everything you stated above. Am currently using the Passion V5 Beta and a lot to like but still a work in progress. Let me know if I can help.
Been running it for about 30 mins, nothing to report so far. Not a big fan of the green theme though, but I will still continue to test.

Lol, green is my color. I personally don't like the blue. Hopefully very soon all the blue will be eradicated.
MUAHAHAHAHAHA
Over here mate!

Followed instructions to the T. After flashing rom, then reflashing kernel, and fixing permissions I go to reboot system now, and it keeps me in Recovery. Will keep trying and let you know. Any thing you want me to try? Could it be because I have Gingerbread bootloader?

What rom were you coming from? This should run with both bootloaders, but I'm on the stock bootloaders, so that might be it. Also, you should be coming from either CM7 or another ICS rom.
Maybe try redownloading the file and reflashing.

I'm currently in no position to be testing roms right now but I want you to know that I'm super excited knowing that you're working on ics. ****ing loved Zendroid, used it for a long time and its still my go to rom when I crave something that just works.
Ah... yes please...
I'd like to test it also. Will report issues.

I would be happy to test it out of u are still looking. I have been on ics since the alpha builds and all of the passion series by Neo.
Thanks

I would be glad to help with testing with one caveat. I need either USB tethering or wifi hotspot to be working. I use that quite frequently and would not be able to keep the ROM installed without it.
