HTC Surround stuck at bootloader - Surround General

Guys, i bought a htc surround on no contacts and shipped it to Pakistan. i used it for 2 days , no issue, then i kept it in my locker and i stated using my defy.
Somehow i decided again to use htc surround, as i opened the box i realized the i forgot to shutdown the phone so the battery is dead, i put it on charging, i was not recognizing the charging, then i kept the battery out for 2 hours, again inserted , this time the original charger was picked up and battery started charging. After full charge, i started the phone and kept doing the configurations, the phone started to shutdown automatically after 2-3 steps, i again restarted, but the problem kept going on.
Meanwhile i decided to flash and unbranded ROM on surround ( as i thought it may be a software issue and i am comfortable with phone flashing). I picked up the Ansar's Cingular unbranded ROM and started flashing as i have a AT&T Surround. It stuck at 98%, the RUU displays error 226 and phone comes back again at boot loader. Then i tried to flash official RUU, it stuck at 9% with error 276. I also tried
Ansar's branded ROM, it stuck and 11% with same error 276. I have tried this on 3 computer, windows 7, vista and xp respectively but same issue. Please help i am in a mess, since i cannot send it back.
Please suggest me any solution, even hardware based because i don't have any choice, what could have gone wrong, i personally have flashed lots of window 6.5 phones .

I suggest trying flashing on a different computer. This sounds like something more complicated, but try the small things first and work your way up. Keep us posted.

help my mogul is bricked

ok since i got this phone i have had problems, but i updated it to 6.1 and it got better (locking up all the time)then i played with a bunch of custom roms, then the other day it just decided not to turn on at all, before it would just lock up at the htc screen, now when i turn it on the green light is on and nothing happnes?? i force it in the loader screen and have tryed getting it to take a rom that way and it just gets stuck and says loading but dosnt do anything? the update utilitly does not work either it keeps saying image is currupt?
Welcome to forums
Have a deep read here:

Hope it helped and good luck,
What version bootloader do you have? What image are you trying to load in bootloader.
i have opilo_240. i cant load any image nothing will take,no roms no radio no nothing
Are you sure you are naming it correctly and on a 2GB or less FAT32 sd card.
i have tryed it a million times, yes i have been typing it right.it recognizes it and starts to load it but then locks up. is there a way i can get this loader off the phone and take it back to original? maybe the loader is crap so if i try and put a original loader back in it will take a install again but i cant find any thing
Not possible that I know of to change bootloader without softspl which needs WM to run.
Where are you getting these images? What is your provider. Please update this in your profile so we can help easier.
my provider is metro pcs but its a sprint phone,i have tryed the sprint/htc 6.1 update then i tryed a couple of ryan mogul 6.5 roms.see since i got this phone (used) it had problems loading from the htc screen, sometimes i would have to soft reset about 5 times before it would load the o/s then sometimes it would go days without a problem,it did this with the stock image then got better with the 6.1 and thought it was good then i played with a couple roms and they all loaded ok but the phone was getting worse when locking up it would do it all the time, then i went back to the 6.1 sprint rom and it didnt get better just worse, then it wouldnt get past the htc screen,so i tryed again to put back to stock and now when i turned the phone on it vibrates then just the green light turns on,when i try and hard reset it just instantly says complete,i can boat to loader and connect to pc fine but when i try and load a image from cpu it goes to 1% then stops and says image file is corrupt, is my phone junk? i have a brand new touch pro coming today but i would like to get this mogul up and running its just a shame cause i loved this phone when it worked,im ready to throw it in the garbage
Get the .nbh from the following sprint .exe and try it on the sd card. If you can get into bootloader your phone shouldnt be a brick. Mtty might be an option but that isnt something I can teach you how to do very well.

Uh oh, HD2 might be bricked/broken?

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help!
OK, first of all I'll admit quite openly that my knowledge of flashing and so on isn't what you'd call strong so any accusations of being a n00b are warranted and accepted.
I got my HD2 in Jan and I'd flashed a few handsets before without issue so flashed the HD2 pretty much straight away and played with some ROM's and so on and settled on one (from memory Dutty ROM) and everything was fine, the phone was stable and everything was good.
Then 2 weeks the handset started acting oddly. I hadn't changed anything (as far as I'm aware) but the phone starting freezing, restarting and so on. I'd have to take the battery out to restart it (and sometimes leaving the battery out for a while before it'd boot up.) When it froze the area around the bottom of the battery would also warm up. I'd also notice that if I tried doing something on the handset it would restart - almost as if I was putting to much "strain" on the handset and it went *bang*.
I decided to hard reset the phone and it went back to original form. Now, I'll again admit this is probably down to my lack of knowledge, I assumed this put the handset back to a factory state but this is probably not the case (it certainly looked like it but some signs suggested it hadn't).
This seemed to improve things a little but the problems just came back. As I'd flashed it and put on the HSPL I thought the warranty was now invalid so thought I'd try and "fix" it myself.
Big mistake.
Or was it?
I think the phone has an issue with power or something like that as it freezes as I've said. And it did this while I was trying to flash a ROM. Panic then set in.
Basically my handset is now in a state where it'll boot into the bootloader (power and Vol down) three colour splash screen and it'll do the white HTC "normal" boot up screen but nothing else.
I can connect to the handset via RUU and I can run:
Task 29
however this doesn't run and finish gracefully most of the time. It'll stick on 99% or 100% or sometimes it'll moan about not being able to do this on this handset.
Any ROM I now try to flash on it using the exe's or RUU (I've not tried them all, granted!) starts and stick at a certain percentage. The Artemis ROM sticks at 12%, Official 1.43 WWE ROM sticks at 0% and Leon ROM sticks at 9%. Eventually they'll time out with an error. Unfortunately I left the handset at work so cannot state which error(s) I get when trying to flash a ROM.
So, after boring the hell out of you, is the handset terminally ill in your opinion? I really do think that there could be a faulty power button/general power issue with the handset (just a feeling I've got) but from my brief reading I'm not 100% sure.
Is there anything I could do? At the moment it's completely unusable so any suggestions on getting it into a working state? Ideally I'd like to get it into a state where I could return it to O2 UK and not have them flag the fact it's been flashed.
Any help gratefully received!
can you get into bootloader? if so, check the spl.
if it is 1.42.0000 or 1.66.0000 then the warranty is fine.
if the spl ends .hspl then connect to usb and run hspl 2.
choose whatever was your stock spl (one that ends 0000, 1.42.0000 most likely)
reboot to boot loader, and confirm the spl ends 0000 and you will be fine.
have same problem!
my hd2 freezed on startup screan, boot screan, sometime donot start - only black screan, after rom flash 99percent or 100percet once freezed when i return stock rom and spl, sometime dont want to boot with 1.42hspl, next time with 1.66, but my experinece is :
1.
-with 2.08hspl allways start
-uninstal your hd2 driver on your computer! restart your computer install after that, with windows update,
-same with bootloader mode, uninsta, driver on your computer, restart your comp, and install it
-turn off your antivirus protector when install any rom, and your run as administrator in windows 7,vista.
2. use other pc if this dont help
3. the problam can be with battery pins under cover.
some people write there with pins problem, they have screaved pins and hd2 dont want boot or start or have same problems
its my secondary problem
if u want u can use clasical gum ereaser and lightly clean pins and battery conectors...
its help for better contact
donot take the pins with wet hands!!
its can make litle corosi..
i belive its help to you
sorry for my english
lol its come to me on twitter

Samsamuel, you're an utter *star*.
Now back to 1.42.0000. I can blag O2 now if needs be in regards to the handset (tried upgrading to 1.72, USB cable came out, phones shagged, give me a new one, etc) without them getting funny about it if needs be.
Will try upgrading to 1.72 stock O2 ROM and see what happens.
Thanks again Samsamuel, I owe you a pint!
I have the exact same problem.
The screen freezes for a while, and then the device reboots.
Usually it's stuck on the white (with green "HTC") screen after that, the red text doesn't show up.
If I remove the battery and leave the device alone for a while (cool down?) it boots past the white screen (although it's highly likely that it crashes again when I enter my pin).
At first this was only happening when I was watching some video's with coreplayer, but now it's just happening all the time, even when it's in my pocket.
I just finished flashing a stock rom, but it's even worse now
9 out of 10 times it doesn't even make it to the pin screen, and I have spend about 2 minutes total actually in windows mobile.
Brood, it sounds like your issue is hardware related, I would contact htc too look into getting it repaired.
Just an update from OP.
Thanks for the link ilijan, very interesting.
I spoke to O2 business tech support yesterday and deliberately asked whether anyone else was complaining of this issue. They said no but I'm unsure whether I believe them and whether this was just the corporate line.
After setting my SPL back to 1.42.0000 I tried flashing to 1.72 stock and this did work. Every other ROM I tried wouldn't work. Even with the official ROM it's still freezing/restarting.
Getting a refurb today.
Thanks to all that responded/helped. Appreciated.

[Q] [q] black screen of death after failed android install

Good morning.
im a newbie at updating the HTC HD 2 Leo i have for T-Mobile (which is probably WHY i shouldnt have messed with it in the 1st place...).
i tried downloading the android gingerbread rom onto my phone last night and while downloading the software their was a partition error and my phone was stuck afterwards rebooting on the failed software dowload (would get stuck on a black screen only showing the HTC letters in green.)
i FURTHER screwed it up by trying to put it in bootloader mode and trying to install the Original software i found which i downloaded off a website for the factory version of my HTC HD 2 Leo.
NOW it only shows a black screen.. the computer cant sync my phone, the battery light is not showing and no signs of life...it wont even let me go into bootboader mode...all it says when i plug it in to my USB port on the computer is under hardware found " Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"...
someone PLEASE help this lost noob... much appreciated
wow! erm.... have you tried a hard reset? recovery software might still be on there, with any hope.....
i tried , but the hd2 doesnt show ANYTHING on the screen, i tried holding both buttons and pushing the power on button but the factory screen wont pop up because the screen stays permenantly black
Sounds as though you flashed a T-MObile USA with a ROM with a .51 RADIO; if that is the case then the phone is bricked.
You could always telephone HTC and say you charged your phone overnight and it didn't respond the next day - with no mention of flashing the phone.
As you have found out flashing before reading can be fatal (for the phone) and expensive. I have flashed quite a few HTC WinMo phones, but for every different phone I read then reread the instructions.
thanx i appreciate it , it sux that i cant get it fixed.

Freeze during flash

Hi, I just spent an hour researching this, but to no avail. So....
I bought today an HD2 of CL and it had Android Gingerbread installed. I entered bootloader and say that it had HSPL 2.08 installed so I tried to install WM 6.5 Stock ROM 3.14. It started flashing but at 8% it froze. I let it sit for about half an hour and it did not do anything. I unplugged it and took out battery. After I restarted it it said that the last flash failed and to try again. I plugged it in and tried again, but after I start flashing the phone vibrates seven times and stops at 8% again. On teh side note it seems that the phone is not charging as the redlight does not come on when I plugged it in.
It seems that I cannot enter the bootloader anymore as when I start the phone it goes into the "Flashing failed..." screen.
I am not sure what to do at this point, so I thought I would check before I destroy the phone any further. Thank you for your advice and sorry if I did not research enough.
It looks as if you have been sold a broken 2nd hand device. The vibrates usally means there is something wrong with the motherboard or processor. It would return it and ask for your money back!
yea i agree with the above, get your money back if poss.
Also, sticking at 8% (or 9 or 10) is a hint that the radio is stuck. if you ever get an sd card flash to start, look out for 'radio rsa fail' error.

[Q] BLINKING SAMSUNG LOGO

Hi,
My phone was working absolutely normal for about a year but suddenly yesterday morning I found it stuck on 'BLINKING SAMSUNG LOGO'. I left it on charge overnight. It was absolutely shocking and I did everything possible to wake it up but It didnt show up. I did Hard Reset a multiple times, tried to unplug USB cable, battery back and forth, but it was of no help.
I found this question on various forums but unfortunately, no one came up with a positive solution except replacing it under warranty. I came back to Pakistan and phone is it out of warranty so there is no possibility for that.
Yesterday, I performed STOCK ROM flash. Luckily I managed to put it WP 7 and so far it is working fine. Later I updated it through ZUNE and during a hour download/installation, I expected it to install WP 7.5 but it popped up the same logo again. I tried everything but problem remains the same. Im stuck on 8th step out of 9 i.e. restarting your phone. I flashed back again to 7, then tried again, but same logo appears back and blinks
It clearly seems like wp 7.5 has some software issues in the bootup. Is there any direct WP 7.5 ROM available on internet?
What else should I do to fix it?

Hi, if you have a microsd card installed it may be the problem, remove the card, do a hardreset, then reflash your handset and try to upgrade to Mango then see what happens, if all is good then your microsd is faulty, this happened to a lot of focus users ))

You will ned to install a custom bootloader for installing a custom ROM, but if you handset is under warranty I would fully recommend taking it to the service as I doubt your problem will magically disappear with a custom ROM, and there is a big chance of bricking the device when installing a custom bootloader if your device is problematic.
Please somebody help!
I have updated it twice but the problem pops up same in the end. It keeps on blinking the logo.
My current version is 7.0.7008. everytime I connect it to zune, it updates on request to 7.5 add on but Im stuck.
Please somebody help me, I have bought a used phone and out of warranty. What can I do to restore it back to WP 7.5.?
