New to x8. Few things need help with. - XPERIA X8 General

Ok so I decided to abandon my wildfire for an x8. It gets delivered Friday the 4th. So as for rooting is there any restrictions or roms what cannot be rooted at all? What are the must haves for rooted x8? And which is the best custom Rom available at the moment? Any other info on good stuff for the x8 would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Search for it... Everything has already been said. No restrictions about rooting, must haves depends on your own needs not ours and best roms - find something for yourself.

Vanilla froyo rom for desire z + rooting questions.

Hi there!
So i was wondering if i should root my phone, and how would i should do it? I would like to avoid to write large amounts of commands on my phone.
I really like the uberroot way of doing it (please correct me if it's called something else.)
Is it safe to do it that way?
I've been looking for a vanilla froyo/gingerbread rom for desire z, and frankly,i haven't stumbled upon one yet.
I just wanna make TOTALLY clear, it's for desire z, not g2.
Hope you can help me!

All of the custom ROMs are compatible with both devices
Rooting with rage is the SAFEST way to go, just requires some simple adb commands:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843014
CyanogenMod is as close to vanilla android you can get with heaps of awesome tweaks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841275
Enom's ROM is another awesome vanilla ROM:

Awesome man, thanks for quick reply.
So in theory, that means that i could flash a g2 rom on my desire z?

+1 for the in depth answer above....
...and yep, these roms can be flashed to either device.

Hi! I just bought my desire HD a while ago. I came from xperia x10 and been following their forums here in xda. Although they are both Android phones, it seems that I am confuse and not familiar with the terms used in this forum. So I want to ask help frm any of you who are already familiar with this phone. I want to have a guide as to where will I start; rooting, updating firmware, optimizing, etc. As i find most of the posts here too confusing and i don't know where to start so if anyone can guide me thank u in advance

You will get many answers to that. My favourite daily is Rcmixhd v05. Doesn't update as much as some others but its the best option if you want a nice smooth experience which is close to stock. The gingerbread keyboard is great too. It is better than HTC stock.
The truth is that there is not that much difference between the different roms except some cosmetic things, and the odd added app.

First, before you can root you need to find out if it's possible right now for you. Go to settings>about phone>software information> if it says 2.3.3 under android version you cannot root right now because with Ginger Bread update root is not possible until the devs find a new exploit.
Shiftdeck 1.2x rom with the latest AOSP x99 kernel. If you can root the phone, there is a simple couple clicks solution posted in the developer forum.

+1 first check if you can root. If you can, make sure you read, read, read, and read. Before you do anything. As far as Roms, well that's all up to preference. Do you want Sense? Do you want Miui? Might want to try a few and see what you like. Once you get comfortable flashing.
Thanks for the feedback i. I've been researching around rooting and lppking at roms. Looks, I have a temp root for now and once I get a full root I'm going to get the mikshift rom because of sense 3.0 features. Thanks again ! Going to have trouble rooting adb first time doing it >.<

Nah need help we're here. Good luck

I can't stand Sense myself, so Cyanogenmod is pretty much the only rom for me lol.

HTC Wildfire Custom ROMS

I'm running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3, but I don't really like it. If one exists, can someone post a link to a custom ROM that is based on gingerbread with an updated HTC Sense on it?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
There's just one, and its incomplete:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269485
For daily use ones, you will have to look at Froyo Sense ROMs. Listing here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Yeah as 3xeno said there is only one and it's not complete, I tried it and it was pretty useless as SN everyday rom. Try wildpuzzle (its 2.2) but it's a very good sense rom

There are a lot of ways you can do this.
What's on your phone? Froyo, Gingerbread?
Did you do anything to it, so far?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821
I used AAHK as it seems to be the easiest way to unlock it.
Just follow the instructions.
I'm running CM7 now and loving it.
Yeah use the ace hack kit...easy squeezy

Do you have much information on development section...Everything well explained, i learned from there...
The development forums are the best source of knowledge for anything you want to know about modding your DHD, trust me give it a go
And if you're on Telus you will need (like I needed...) to do a goldcard...
I haven't succeed without it ! Even following (almost) every instructions.

AAHK does goldcard AUTOMATICALLY no matter the network. Super CID, ROM included. How hard is it for people to just read...
