my sim card is stucked?? - Desire HD General

because my transitioning from iphone 4, I had to get a micro-sim adapter for my new desire HD, but the weird thing is once I put my simcard in the phone, I can't take it back out?
There doesn't seem to be anything holding the simcard.
Does anybody know why?

luckily I came up with a way to remove it. If anyone run into this problem ever, let me know. I can show you.

I use tweezers haha.

What ive done is cut out a very thin piece of soft plastic and slide it in the sim card slot. Luckily I didn't try to force it out. I read some people even had to sent the phone back to get it out because they snapped the adapter.

Did you even TRY to search the forum first?
Old, old, OLD news. Don't try to put anything in there, it's just a hole and you'll lose your SIM.

WOW THIS IS SO GREAT!
Kidding... Did you check the forums?
This was discovered like on day one, in addition it's just the slot with no tech underneath, so if you try to put a sim card in it it will get lost inside the device and never be seen again.
In addition this has nothing to do with android development of the device ;-)
Cheers ;-)

lmao.. I hope you didn't put a sim card in there. It's just a open hole to the inside of the case. Anything you put in there will just rattle around the inside of the tablet. The wifi models DO NOT have the cellular device installed.
but is it usable though?
EDIT: nevermind.. stupid question
omg this is great guys, I just found a hole on the side of my tab that my USB drive can fit into!

I accidentally the whole tablet!
while this seems funny (well yeah it truly is) I had the back off of mine the other day (I took pics meaning to post them on iTweakit, com).
It got me thinking what was "missing", as in how hard would it be to add "the part" acer puts in the 3g version, there were no connectors, or non soldered points I could see, so I assume its a different logic board.
Anyways if you did happen to loose your sim card in that "hole" you can remove the back by carefully using a spluddger (this is a plastic screw driver intended to prevent marring the plastic) to gently pry it away from the clips. The thing is screw-less. I started around the dock connector, after the first "pop" the rest detaches fairly easily, you can use your fingers to continue prying. As a warning, remove your microsd card b4 attempting as it sits in-between the back and the logicboard.
Also I caution not to mess around with the microsd slot, I somehow damaged it slightly so it won't keep the card in unless I try to "click" it in about 20x at slightly different angles, so as far as I'm concerned I have a 48gb tablet now, as I won't be removing the sd card very often! At one point the card launched out (microsd slots are famous for such launches cause of the spring pressure), popped me in the eye ouch!
Yes, you have to be careful about sd.. I broke my sd card when disassembling the device (left the stupid thing inside). Anyway, with scissors or a screwdriver you can fix your sd slot. Usually any problems happen because it gets bent and either the card gets stuck or is too loose
Interestingly enough, there does seem to be a strange void space next to the battery, with two screw slots. Perhaps someone with a 3g model could take some pictures of their devices internals?

Anyone up-to-date on how a sim card connects internally? Could this port be hijacked for another purpose? If it's just empty space with blank solder points we could throw in another card reader (SD) or some other random piece of tech.
somewhere deep inside, I still wish the title was really true!

A 3G modem is supposed to be installed into the pci-express slot. On the wifi-only models the slot is not soldered and probably the pcie controller as well, although I didn't look for it.. But there's a lot of space inside so with some mad skills you can solder a usb hub and connect it between the pcb and external usb port..

Opening the a500

Just wanted to post my .02 about opening the a500. Its pretty easy to open, as its just a few clips. I just got through doing a quick teardown of it and wanted to warn anyone who tries to open it of two things,
1. Make sure you eject your microsd card. I didn't and I ended up breaking the sd card (and almost the slot).
2. Use the sdcard cover section for your first pry. If you pop it open you can see a small gap between the plastic and metal. Use a VERY small flat head to pop it up. from there you should be good.
I learned both these the hard way, so hopefully you should be able to open your Iconia without damaging it.
Could you take photos of the interior, particularly the fabled "sim slot". Just to put to rest the rumours of it not being activated.

It DOES NOT have a sim slot. The metal bracket is not attached. Go search under my name, I've started a group to get a 3/4g modem working internally

There idiots. Look at the pci-e slot. Do you see a riser bracket to hold the card. Take it from someone who has actually opened his. Its not 3g ready
3g Iconia
Just inquiring .. Did anyone ever find the correct 3g card and bracket to actually install, download drivers and for it to function ???( Inconia A500)

[Q] Nexus 4 replacement opened before shipped?

I can add pictures of the double taped box if anyone wants but basically it looks like my Nexus 4 replacement box has been opened and re-taped again. The first Nexus 4 I had shipped had only one set of black tape to seal the box but my Nexus 4 replacement has had the tape taped over as if the box has been opened. Has anyone else received a box that has had the first set of tape taped over? I sent google an email and the person I talked to told me that the device is in fact brand new and they do not sell refurbished devices.
Also, the sim opening tool bag looks like it has been opened and re-taped as well except not with an extra piece of tape this time but with either the original tape that came with it or another piece, but the bag is damaged as if it has been opened already. Anyone know what is going on with this? I have a feeling they may have checked the device to make sure there was nothing wrong with it, like the problem that made me send it back in the first place but I would really like to know the reason for this.
Please, anyone, if you have had the same thing happen or know why this has happened, please let me know!
Thanks for your time and interest.
Just check for scratches / problems. If it seems/ feels and responds well then don't break your head over it. If you have even the slightest scratch though, then do something about it. Otherwise I don't know if it matters

Good call, I will do that. I still would like to know why the double tape and why the sim card tool bag was damaged.
Thanks for your reply!

Well how else would the Fed have been able to install the tracking/eavesdropping software that is now monitoring your every move.
Honestly , mine didn't even have a sticker - bought before yesterday. But alone the fact that it had that front and back sticker (which after removing good luck putting it back on perfectly). left me with some confidence. I was worried at first but after seeing the state the phone is in I thought who cares as long as it seems new and has no scuffs/scratches. I can't stop emphasizing on how much I love my first nexus phone (3rd - 4th android phone). Simply gorgeous.

[Q] Nexus 4 SIM tray required to make connection?

Just wondering if anybody knows if the Nexus 4 SIM tray is required in order to make a connection kind of like a lot of battery covers. Tried putting my SIM in with just a piece of tape attached to pull it back out but I can't seem to get it to recognize.
Thanks.

You definitely need the SIM card tray. It is there for a reason, not sure why you would use tape as you could definitely wreck the internals of the phone.
I'm pretty sure it does. It keeps the Sim aligned correctly.
Why would you use tape , vs a sim tray ?

Given how sensitive the N4 seems to be with cut-down SIMs, I really can't imagine how a SIM with no tray is going to line up properly.

Sim tray handle has slight free play

Hi all, I recently purchased a nexus 6p, very impressed with it, great phone, the only issue I have faced is when I ejected the sim tray, the little handle on the sim tray has a slight free play, in experience I have never come across this on my nexus 5, 5x, and other phones I've owned or put a sim in. Please confirm with me and check if ur sintray handle has a very slight free play, thankyou.

I did not notice anything funny about mine when I put it in. It's nice and snug now too. I tried to see if it would wiggle with my fingernail but it is solid. If you think it feels defective though trade it soon so you get in the replacement window.

That's weird, mine feels solid too, and had a snug fit, but just when I took the sim tray out it just wiggles very slightly, its not much of a major issue to hand in for replacement, if it breaks then I will. Thanks for ur testing.
