Factory reset? - Adam General

OK, finally got mine! PQI Wifi. I haven't rooted yet, so question is how to I do a factory reset to an "out of box" experience?

[ROM] Original Stock firmware
THIS was originally posted by roebeet from notionhacks.com
just putting here like this so we arent linking everywhere...
Given that NI is only doing OTA updates now, I'm going to use this as a placeholder for full stock ROMs. That way, a user who has modded their device can use these to get back to a baseline without the need for nvflash / APX.
These are the original NI stock ROM files. I have not altered them in any way.

Instructions for standard recovery users:
- Extract the rar to the root of either a microSD card, or your internal memory. You want both the update.zip and /recovery folder.
- Reboot the device into recovery (power up and volume up key). The firmware update should occur automatically.
- (Optional but recommended). Wipe your user data, also via the recovery tool.
Instructions for clockworkmod users:
- Same as above, except that you don't need the recovery folder and it's not automatic. You need to chose the update.zip update option, in clockworkmod.

Try this;

Tab 10.1 wifi, revert to retail stock?

Hi,
Without reading he forums, I applied the firmware update to my new Galaxy Tab 10.1 32gb wifi tablet. That added an insane amount of garbage, not to mention the ugly format.
I really need your help to restore the retail ROM (without TouchWiz). I looked at the thread where it explains the procedure but certain things are not clear. My tablet is not rooted, can you confirm the proper order to restore to original US retail? I read that once you have the latest firmware update, you cannot re-flash to stock anymore. Thanks for your help.
Never mind, I managed to revert to retail stock, following this procedure:
1. Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset
2. Once the data reset, re-configure the tablet and upload the hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip file into Tablet root directory.
3. Boot the tablet in Download mode and use Odin to flash the recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.tar.md5 file. You should get a green pass in Odin.
4. Reboot again the tablet in CWM mode (box with arrow), then select:
Install zip from sdcard > Power button > Choose zip from sdcard > Power button
Select the hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip file > Power button
5. Reboot again the tablet in CWM mode and do a wipe data/factory reset.
6. Reboot again the tablet in Download mode and use Odin to flash the stockretail.tar.md5 file. You should get a green pass in Odin.
The above procedure will bring back to stock your tablet, as it was the day you purchase it. I'm a happy camper now, all garbage is gone and the Android keyboard works properly again.

STANDARD DISCLAIMER:
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. By running this firmware, you agree that there is the possibility that you may brick your device. You agree that only you are responsible and no one else is responsible for supporting you if that occurs.
Acknowledgments
Roebeet, Mrguy, Pershoot, Zebwen, Clemsyn and all the Adam and VEGA developers, for this excellent port. If you have contributed something I used let me know and I will add you here.
Pre-requisites
1. Setup and learn how to use nvflash. This is your backout in case something bad happens, so I would recommend you understand how to use this, in advance.
2. Have your device on a stock 1.2-based ROM / mod baseline. For example, build 4349 is the latest 1.2-based stock ROM, as of this writing.

loving it
The latest update is great! Still having a problem with the flashplayer causing crashes though..any recommendations other than the hacked apk that is available in the build?
Thanks JR,
This will always be the ROM running on my GTAB. You are a great asset to the gtab community!
tlbardelljr
This isn't a new problem (I've had it with all the Honeycomb ROMs I've used), but when I hold the power button and choose "Recovery", my G Tablet doesn't boot into recovery, it just reboots normally. I can only get into recovery by holding the volume up button while rebooting. Is this normal? It isn't really a big deal, but I thought I'd report it.
I'm running Flashback 10.3.
JazzRuby, Thank you so much for posting an update for the Gtab, any new ROM is a welcome, but more so for a HC!!!
So again Thanks!!
Just got the gtab from a friend. This ROM is amazing, but no working flash player, can't play anything. Any ideas?

Flash player DOES work (kind of). If you long press on the area where the flash "would be." And then press in the upper-left of the area, you can make the flash object full screen, where it WILL work!
which version?

Are you using the hacked flash.apk?
Nope, just update or fresh download the newest version that shows up in the market and most browser pages with flash videos will play (you can hear them but prob not see them) then you kind of have to "guess" where that "full screen" button is on the video window, and if you hit it spot on, it should launch the flash video full screen. It's a *****, but it works. I'm going back and reloading some of the other HC roms to see which one I can live with for now.
Hey everyone!
Just put this on my gtab, and i have an issue. When i go to install an app, it causes a reboot from the splash screen, and when it comes back up, the wifi doesnt work(gives an error) until i restart the tablet.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi Steve,
Can you be a little more specific, i.e. previous ROM, install method, what app, etc...

This is a known issue with the Shutdown.apk (app), unfortunately no resolve at the moment, but will look into it further.
Thanks,

Thanks for the quick repsonse!
Alright, well a bit of a rollercoaster here..
I went through and followed this guide to get my tablet up to 4349.
This one
Then, I attempted to install CWM .8 to manage roms and such.
That did not work, it soft bricked the device, so i went and NVFlashed it back, and went through the process of getting it back to 4349.
I then used the included recovery (v3?) to install Flashback.
Any tips on getting CWM to go on along with 4349?
EDIT: So far its happened with every app, it downloads fine. When it switches to "installing..." the tablet goes to the Flashback splashscreen.

OK, I think I follow you, your currently running Flashback 10.3, correct?
If so, you can flash/install ClockworkMod 3.0.2.8 rev5 internally.
FB 10.3 includes the recovery binaries for Stock and ClockworkMod, you just need to flash/install via terminal.
Open/Run Terminal Emulator and type the following:
$ su - become Superuser
# cwmrecovery.sh - will flash/install ClockworkMod 3.0.2.8
# fixrecovery.sh - will flash/install Stock recovery
Terminal Emulator: https://market.android.com/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
Thanks! I will try that out and post back!
Haha yeah I was, Im just gonna start from the beginning to try and iron out any problems I may have caused.
Also, the kernel in the first post, will that help improve stability? Or is it simply the overclock?
Thanks for your help!

First of all, make sure you're on 1.2 bootloader; if you've already NVFlashed 4349 then you are.
Second, download and flash/install this ClockworkMod:
http://dev-host.org/g4e68tsmgdlp/gTab.cwm.3028.1.2.zip
If you already got ClockworkMod 3.0.2.8 rev5 then skip the above, if not, and you have Stock recovery, then rename to update.zip and flash.
Third, use the 'Clean' install method in the OP.
Flashback 10.3 already has pershoot's kernel baked in, the 2 kernel pkgs in the OP are to allow trying/testing between the two.

Could you point me in the direction of finding that version of NVFlash? Im using one that goes to a very old version of TnT and then i need to wait for an OTA update.
Ive searched on the forum but havent turned up much.
That makes more sense. Thanks for all your help. I dont want to come across as a noob, but for some reason this tablet has been giving me the most trouble of all getting this stuff right. haha

*facepalm* All I had to do was reinstall Flashback.
Thanks so much for your help! It no longer restarts when I install apps.
So i think the problem was down to that I didnt use CWM to install it, after I used NVFLASH v5 it installed that new version of CWM you mentioned. I then did a CLEAN install of Flashback and so far so good! I hope this can help someone else out as well.
Looking good JR. Keep up the great work!
Is anyone else missing the \system\ data\ folder where the hacked adobe flash apk
I'm coming from flashback 10.1 upgrade install, wiped cache and dalvik cache

[GUIDE] Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 OR 7.0 Rooting/CWM/Restoring To Stock

WARNING: Using sections A, B or E will increase your flash counter and thus void your warranty.
NOTE: This device is almost unbrickable so long as you don't mess around with bootloaders, so if something goes wrong post in the Q&A section and we'll help you fix it.
MODEL NUMBER KEY:before you use this guide, you must find your model number.
First digit: 5 for tab 10.1, 3 for tab 7.0

13. Use the volume buttons to navigate to install zip from sdcard, then choose zip from sdcard (or internal storage)
14. Select the zip file you downloaded in step 3 and install it.

7. Click Start.
8. Try to boot the tablet. If it hangs, do not panic, just repeat step 2.
9. Enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F. Flash a file with Mobile ODIN
Using Mobile ODIN is recommended for advanced users only. You must have root.
Using Mobile ODIN will NOT increase your flash counter, and therefore your warranty will remain intact.
1. Extract or copy the file you want to flash to your tablet. If you're flashing a ROM, you only want the PLATFORM/PDA file (.tar.md5) (almost always the largest file)
NOTE: There are no .pit files in Mobile ODIN. They are installed along with your flashkernel.
2. Download either Mobile ODIN pro ($5) OR Mobile ODIN lite (does not include EverRoot, so you will need to re-root using ODIN) and the p51xx FlashKernel from here.
3. Click on Open File... in Mobile ODIN and find the file you want to flash.
4. If you're flashing a ROM, click Recovery and click clear on the window that pops up.
5. If applicable, enable EverRoot.
6. Select both Wipe data and cache and Wipe Dalvik cache
7. Click flash firmware.
THANKS: weltwon and Chainfire for root & unroot method, codeworkx for the newer versions of CWM, count dooku for discovering than TW ROM's don't include a kernel the hard way, invisiblek for testing stock ROM on p5113, and all you devs who make custom ROM's and kernels.
If this guide has helped you, please hit the thanks button.
Great work!! Thank you!

If you mean the stock ROM's, both of those links work!
Well, crap
I just bought a GT-P5113 from Fry's yesterday and followed your instructions down to the letter. I was only able to get CM9 working but it is having wifi issues (many apps give `fail to download` errors when they download something on the internet - like swiftkey getting language packs)
CleanROM (1.0 and 1.1) and InfectedROM both don't get past the "Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" screen. I even let it sit for an hour to see if something would resolve but it doesn't. I've cleared data, cache, dalvik, etc before each install. I reflashed CWM like 4 times, I've formatted everything except the kitchen sink, I've repaired permissions, nothing.
I wish wish WISH I had a backup of the stock rom to go to as it was a better option than what Im stuck with now (the experimental nightly of CM9)
Is anyone having the same problem and figured it out or am I just going to have to wait until better ROMs come out? :-/
You're going to have to be the tester for the restore to stock procedure above.

I feel your pain. I'm in the same predicament. CleanRom hangs, CM9 is buggy. Peel cannot detect the IR blaster. Pulse and galary are not showing images.
I wonder is there is a page were I can check what bugs have been found and what changes have been made in CM9 nightly?
Thanks.
You can try InfectedROM. I used it and had zero issues.
Thanks MultipleMonomials for the suggestion. Just tried it, but this infectedRom is freezing on the SamsungGalaxyTab2 10.1 boot screen as well. I've waited for 5minutes for something to happen. So I guess I'll hop back to my CM9 backup.
(If only I had a stock backup... well a lesson learned.)
Oh. That's what you meant when you said Cleanrom hung. You might try reflashing a TW kernel (i.e. ADB fix) after flashing InfectedROM. And I don't believe any custom ROM's have support for the IR blaster (I might be wrong).
If i wanted to return to the stock rom on the 7.0 (GT-P3113) which one should I download?
This guide isn't for the tab 7.0.
So to return to stock i have to install (p5110 taiwan android, the link that is in the first page in 4th point *Return TO stock*) even if i am italian because why it is called *Taiwan android p5110* ??!
thx
thanks for your share

Your suggestion worked and most of the stuff is back to normal. Even Peel is starting up again. Just one other item I hope you have a good suggestion for. My Gallery app is not stating up, I complains about not enough memory. I suspect this is due to some privilege issue. I had created a tmp folder on the internal SD to hold the CM9 zip. I cannot delete the folder. If I access the DCIM folder I can't delete any of the image files. Thus I suspect an issue with the privileges.
I ran the fix permissions option in the Clockwork menu, and also ran some other permission fixer of google play. But they did not fix the privileges with which I had issues. I searched the forum for a similar issue & solution, but was unable to find it.
Do you have a suggestion? Thanks in advance!
Hi i am italian and i have P5110 what i have to download and install to return to stock with polaris office, music read hub and simliar ????
count dooku, it looks like your sdcard is corrupted. Get a USB MicroSD reader (you really should have one anyway) and copy your sdcard to your computer. (now's a good time to delete that folder) Then, reformat the card using Windows. Lastly, copy the files back to your sdcard.
Andrew1998, just flash the p5110 stock package.

I got you covered ;p
First of all, you need root. I assume you're on 3.2.1.
To get a rooted stock ROM, download this:
http://depositfiles.com/files/c6pr69ri6
Follow Instructions in PDF...
After you've done that, confirm that you have the superuser app installed now....
Download the latest stable 4.2 or 4.3 ROMS...
(There are many options...CHOOSE !!!ONE!!! (DOWNLOAD GAPPS TOO)
Randomblame's 4.3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376662
Randomblame's 4.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990136
Pjsports's 4.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2426942
Pjsports's 4.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049874
Thor2002ro's 4.3: (For this one you need a tegraowner's account) http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1312
)
Thor2002ro's 4.2: http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1046
(Recommend Thor 4.2 because it is the most stable and updated)
Also download the latest recovery (Using Acer Recovery Installer (Google Play Store) or from here http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1281 (Also need a tegraowners account).
Put your ROM, Gapps and Recovery files on the root folder of your External SD card. (don't extract anything)
Now power off your tablet.
Now press the power button and volume - (or volume + if you're holding in portrait) key until you boot into recovery. Then navigate to the wipe menu.
Go into the Wipe menu, and do a Data Wipe.
Go into the Install Zip from SD Card menu, and install/upgrade to the latest version of Touch Recovery.
Reboot the A500, and once again go into Recovery (hold VOL-).
Go into the Install Zip from SD Card menu, and install the ROM.
Go into the Wipe menu, and do a Data Wipe. (yes a 2nd data wipe)
Go into the Install Zip from SD Card menu, and install GApps.
Reboot the device (Don't hold VOL- this time).
Enjoy...credits to Dime for this Guide...

My main issue was; when booting into Recovery mode with the new CWM Recovery, I could not execute any menu options, I could just navigate via the volume rocker. However after hard booting via power button (had to hold it down for an unusual length to time) it finally shutdown. Upon reboot, was able to navigate and execute in CWM Recovery. Went into settings/Backup & reset/factory data reset and did a factory reset successfully. After rebooting rom was now stock, inclusive of all the original apps with the exception of chainfires SU app! Thus no longer contained framroot, etc! However, due to the rom being flashed (I hope I’m using the proper terminology) it now has CWM recovery when booting into recovery mode. I then made a backup of the Original/Factory Rom (Rooted with the exception of Chain fires SU). It is now available here:
4shared: 4shared.com/zip/zKMVZEtLce/LENOVO_IDEATAB_A3000F_ORIGINAL
Copy the above url in google
For anyone how now needs the Original/existing Lenovo Idea tab A3000-F. The version with the Fused Partition without the dual sim cards (Build Number: A3000_A422_004_024_140127_WW_WIFI_FUSE).
Note after downloading it has to be unzipped and copied into the clockworkmod/backup folder
Hope this proves helpful
