Update: List available now of issues in Froyo (EB13) for Devs and SamsungJohn - Epic 4G General

Update: List of issues available
Dear All:
Since this thread began, we have vented our frustration here, but most importantly, we have done that in an organized manner, by listing our issues in categories. I thank you all for staying on topic, and providing the much needed information in such great detail.
The purpose of the thread was to provide a comprehensive list of all the issues/annoyances/bugs we faced after upgrading to Froyo's EB13 Build, to the developers on this forum, as well as to those at Samsung. Squshy 7, a diligent member of this forum, printed the whole thread(!!), analyzed the information and complied a list of all the issues posted in this thread and others, to serve the purpose of this thread. Great job, Squshy 7!
I hope that based on this list, which is, for now, attached to this post as a Word document (and is posted by Squshy 7 later in the thread), we can receive great feedback from the developers and can soon receive the fixed version of EB13 from our own and Samsung's developers. Wonders of uninvited, but essential, crowdsourcing models! I wish companies realized the benefits of such models of business in this day and age.
I have PMed a mod to insert a second post to this thread so I can paste the complete list in that post.
The following is the original post of this thread. Thank you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am aware there is already a thread about bugs resulting after the latest EB13 update, but I did not see a thread where all the bugs were listed in an organized way. It would be very helpful if we have all the bugs compiled as a list from this thread here in a dedicated thread meant to be seen by Samsung developers, especially SamsungJohn. It would be great if SamsungJohn, continuing the spirit of partnership with the community, can take this list and work toward providing a patch for all the issues after the update as soon as he/Samsung can.
I would greatly appreciate if people, who received their update OTA, would chime in, too.
I am listing the following information about my method of update and the issues/bugs I am facing.
Method of update:
I was on Stock rooted ROM (DI18), with some Sprint apps uninstalled, so I had to use Odin to flash back to a complete Stock ROM. After using the Odin method to flash a Stock ROM, I installed the "update.zip" file from Samsung's Web site to update Eclair (DI18) to Froyo (EB13).
List of issues/bugs:
Sound/Volume:-
- The maximum volume is less louder than what it was on DI18 (some have reported this issue)
- Sound playing at 70% (rough estimate) or above loses fidelity coming out of the speaker of the phone, which is quite frustrating and disappointing, especially when the issue did not exist on Eclair (DI18)
Android Browser:-
- Checkerboard issue
- Unable to open more than four links. The "Open in new window" option does not appear if there are already four windows open
Camera/Camcorder/Video:-
- While recording video in low light, the video lags a lot, rendering the camcorder essentially useless for capturing precious moments anywhere and everywhere
- Selecting the "Sport" mode on the camera force closes the camera app
- There is no option to stop the geotagging of the pics taken by the default Camera app (strange, to say the least)
Screen:-
- On occasions, the screen goes blank and does not come alive until several seconds seconds later, or does not come alive at all
- There is a significant lag (about 2 seconds) in rotating from portrait to landscape, and from landscape to portrait orientation
GPS:-
- Not much better than the buggy GPS in Eclair (even after six months!)
Wifi:-
- The connection to Wifi suddenly drops after a random number of hours. The attempt to turn Wifi back on, from the Settings menu, or the Status/Notification Bar, results in an error, or the Wifi doesn't turn on. To turn the Wifi on, the device needs to be rebooted, or, the radio needs to be turned off and on.
Gsensor:-
- The direction shown by the pointer in Google Maps is wrong by 180 degrees
Operating System:-
- I have several apps moved to the SD card. After a reboot, icons for the apps which reside on the SD card, do not load for a minute or so
- I also noted that the icons of apps on the SD card, organized in a folder on the Home screen, fail to load completely, several times
- A folder shortcut for Pandora fails to load it's icon after a reboot
Please list your method of update and the issues/bugs in an organized manner on this thread, otherwise, the purpose of the thread will be defeated. After we have listed almost all the issues with the EB13 update, it would be a good idea to create a poll to find the number of people experiencing each of the issues. A poll at this time is useless as we do not know the exact number of issues.
Anyone who will post, please organize your issues and categorize them (even if it is a very loose categorization), as it would be much easier for a developer on this forum or from Samsung, to use an organized list of issues and get us closer to receiving fixes as they would have enough information in the form of a list.

My EB14 update
Samsung update tool to EB13
Have yet to fully test EB13 but the first glaringly obvious problem is Samsung's infamous "Time without Signal" issue.
First 6 hours running EB13, TWS was 50%
Hours 6 - 12 running EB13 and using "Airplane Mode Toggle" workaround, TWS was 1%.
Battery drain was significantly less after using the "Airplane Mode Toggle" workaround to temporarily fix the issue.
From everything I have read the TWS bug is caused by the phones modem.bin programing continuously hunting for a GSM signal. Since the phone is CDMA and has no GSM hardware it will never find one, causing significant battery drain. I have also read that this bug is not limited to the Epic, but effects multiple Samsung CDMA hardware platforms. There is no way that Samsung could be unaware of this issue.

Thanks for your input. I was hoping we would categorize our issues in terms of Camera issue, Sound issue, etc., so your issue is a battery issue. If you don't mind, I will place the text of your issue as the following, in this post:

Stock di18, unrooted, stock recovery...used update.zip, then dameons deodexed. same bugs throughout
Camera: terrible video lag in low light
Broswer:
prbly app related..all my bookmarks imported correctly, but from the browser I can't access the bookmark list or browsing history...there's literally no option to view them. And the shortcut from the old browser of holding the back button to view them doesn't work either.
And massive checkerboarding
General: overall rotation lag, even after calibration
Battery/radio: haven't noticed a terrible drain on the battery, but I too have the TWS bug. Hangs right at 50%. (On a side note, what's th airplane trick. PM me the answer so as to not clutter this thread)

I've had some of the same issues mentioned by others in many of these threads, but one I've had that I haven't seen mentioned else where is gaps in the Application screen.
I applied update.exe from a stock DI18. Since the Clock app added timer and stopwatch functions, I uninstalled a couple of other apps that were now redundant. But instead of the App pages condensing, I now have gaps when I'm in grid view. I'm sorry I don't feel like I'm explaining this well...
I have 7 pages in Applications grid view. In the past, removing an app meant that all the apps shifted so there would be one less App on page 7. Now, if the app I remove is on page 2, it creates a gap at the bottom right of page 2, and all the other pages are unchanged.
Sorry, OP, I'm not really sure how to categorize that for this list, but I hope this helps it get addressed.

Is there any way your can cross categorize this issue (Battery & Modem) as it is a Battery issue directly caused by a known Modem.bin bug?

What you are seeing is normal for the new version of touch wiz.
On the handset
Unlock Device
Press 'Applications'
Press 'Menu Button'
Press 'Edit'
Press 'Menu Button'
Press 'a-z sort'
That should resort the icon's to the way you are used to seeing them.
Thank you.

Update method samsung update tool.
Same issues as stated in the first post on this thread.
One more annoying bug that I'm also having is when I try to open the sms app it will often open a app that was previously running like contacts dialer or log I would find myself having to reset the phone to get the sms app to work properly. Oh yeah I noticed my battery is draining a lot faster too. To me this seems like dk28 was just renamed eb13. There is nothing that set this build apart from dk28 except the name change.

Holy crap, I had no idea. Thanks! I'd seen the new Edit option in the menu, but never thought to hit the Menu button a second time.
Was this documented somewhere that I should have seen?

I have re-categorized your issue.
The only purpose of this thread is to just provide a quick list of issues/bugs to the people who can use it to fix the outstanding issues, soon. Again, thanks to everyone going through the extra trouble of categorizing and listing their issues in an organized manner. I certainly hope this exercise produces the intended results. Are you reading SamsungJohn?

Mods, please delete this (my) post. I had misunderstood the above post as a solution to one of the issues I had listed, while it is actually addressing another issue in this thread.

Seems like you have issues with the SMS and Battery categories.
Please categorize your issues. Without categorizing and organizing issues, we will have a thread identical to the thread related to the bugs, which would make this thread redundant, and defeats the purpose of this thread. Thank you.

the bookmarks dont have an option , when you click the bookmark button at top near the address bar it brings them up

Camera/Video issue.
Updated via Samsung tool from straight stock.
The video is blurry as noted in low light, but what's even more of an issue is that it force closes whenever you try to select "sports mode" It screws up the phone so bad that after it goes into sleep mode once force closing it will not wake back up. Only a battery pull will get it to respond. I've seen this issue noted across at least 3 other forums, but haven't seen it addressed in this one yet.
Thanks-

Thanks, squshy 7, for offering to compile a list of all the issues!

Method of Update:
Downloaded Samsung tool (.exe) from Samsung website
Bugs:
O/S - Time without Signal. Gotta toggle airplane mode to fix it.
Browser - Also seeing checkerboard effect when zooming/panning
Messaging - Not sure if it's the network, Handcent or EB13 but I'm receiving text messages with a space after each letter. If I restart Handcent it goes away but then comes back intermittently. Not sure if anyone else is seeing this issue.

Froyo + Epic = Amazing Phone

Okay, I'm sure a bunch of people have been having problems with their froyo upgrades... But I have had nothing short of an amazing day with my first 24 hours of Froyo on the Epic. So I am making this thread so we can highlight the POSITIVE changes that froyo has brought us Epic owners.
I have discovered a few cool things that Froyo brings, and I am sure there are more. Let's get a list compiled of all the positives:
What I have discovered so far:
1) Battery life ( see attached photo) - it is so much better than 2.1. I can't believe it's the same phone, battery!
2) The screen rotates left or right now into landscape mode. I was always astonished on 2.1 that it didn't do that.
3) Apps 2 SD. Long talked about, but awesome when it's finally here. I have a bunch of apps and I have 390Mb open on my phone. My wife has 412Mb open on her Epic. #4 is helped by this
4) The phone runs smoother. Of course Linpack scores of 13.92 prove it, but I haven't had any screen lag or lag when opening the app drawer or in typical use the way my Epic got laggy on 2.1 before. Apps 2 SD definitely helps clear up phone memory for every day use.
5) Colorized menus. It may seem trivial, but now I realize just how drab the menus were previously. The icons 'pop' with the color added to them.
6) Separate Sound and Display options in the settings menu.
7) Flash. 'nuf said on that one! Huge improvement over 2.1.
8) Improved Gmail and Youtube.
*the rest will be either new finds by me, or contributions w/ credit.
9) Pinch whatever home screen you are on to reveal all home screens. (thanks styckx)
10) I just discovered that we finally have copy/paste options of text that WE choose! When you are in a field where you have been typing and you click in that field, you get a blue slider button. You can slide that button to whatever starting point you want in your text, and then you can choose to edit and you can highlight, copy, paste, etc only the portions of text you want, not just a copy all option like before! This is a huge improvement over 2.1. Text select was the only thing I missed from my Blackberry, and now we have that too. Not in all situations, but at least it makes editing your current text so much easier.
11) I read it somewhere else before, but just verified it works. If you swipe to the right on a contact in your messages list, it automatically calls them. If you swipe to the left, it automatically starts you up for a text reply. Genius!
12) Robust stock audio player with tons more features. (thanks again styckx)
Okay, I know I am missing things that even I have already discovered and don't remember. 2.2 seems a lot more than a .x update. It's not just 1 or 2 minor tweaks like we have seen previously. Please post anything you have noticed about Froyo that adds to the Epic experience!
* I know there are some things about it people don't like. I am unable to swipe on the notification bar to increase/decrease brightness. I really enjoyed that feature. Feel free to post what you don't like about Froyo also. But I would like to concentrate on tips, tricks, improvements, etc. that Froyo has brought us!
Pinch your home screen
As great as froyo is, there are a lot of probs with it.
Random services keep appearing.
Samsung widgets disappear occasionally
Wifi not working at times (not sure if that's my connection)
Idk, I'm just curious, what measures are you taking on battery life?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
About all the bad I've noticed with the latest DK28 build is the auto-rotate is REALLY slow, and it doesn't seem to auto-rotate when on the main screen (only seems to rotate when I am in the "settings" menu). I had some odd issues with DK17 where it didn't like to delete messages from my Activesync accoutn that appears to be fixed in DK28.

I have been on wi-fi since last night. Not a single issue for me regarding that. Yet. So it may be your wi-fi.
As far as battery goes, I am straight stock everything, no battery juice defender sipper type apps or anything. Just rooted, with no Sprint apps. Nothing special.

I am getting the auto-rotate to work both ways on the home screens, and it takes maybe .2 seconds to do it. Maybe try and wipe and re-flash? Just a suggestion.
I am getting lag at random times. Sometimes the phone will just freeze for like 30 seconds as launcherpro slowly crashes. Rotation is slow, 5 seconds i mean come on. Wifi has been weirdish, might have fixed itself. So far, no where NEAR as smooth as stock DI18. Eclair on the epic was AMAZINGLY smooth and polished.
I like the new features, but there is no way that DK28 is ready for primetime. They need to do a lot of bug fixing on this to make it anywhere near as smooth as other phones running 2.2 that I have seen.
Also, I installed it correctly and several different ways, so its not a bad flash. I am currently running Stock DK28 with root and clockworkmod that was ODIN flashed from stock DI18 which I ODIN flashed. GPS is working.
One thing I really like a lot is the new Audio player. EQ, Visualizer, audio "effects", much better navigating of albums and artists.
I mean, I own PowerAmp which is THE BEST audio player period, but the new default audio player is leaps and bounds better than the old one and is fantastic for default (free).

Agreed. The features are all here. Now it just needs to be polished and smoothed out like the original Eclair builds were.
Bluetooth dialing is busted. Media hub wants to upgrade, but there is no upgrade. On the plus, my gps works now. I don't care what anyone says. This is a beta for hardware level.4 phone to test. I think we will see a newer release pushed to our phones.
I'm just going to keep it. It's stable and usable enough until the real (and hopefully more refined and stable) release is sent.
I'm sick of flashing and restocking my phone. I'm thinking a upgrade from DK28 to the real release won't require the dreaded WIPE WIPE WIPE and a rube goldberg puzzle to get the GPS to work.
If for some stupid, company killing reason DK28 as it stands now really is going to be the official release, I will go back to 2.1 and stay there. We'll see.

Hey OP you might want to try that again because I'm on froyo and can still increase/decrease the brightness using the notification slide-bar technique. The bar may hide but if you move your finger left or right even when its already gone you should see the brightness change.
Mine doesn't change orientation either unless I'm in a program. If I'm in a program, it's instant pretty much..on the homescreen I've waited and the only way I can get it to change is by flipping open my keyboard.
All of this is overshadowed by my sd not working after the update there by rendering most apps useless

Seems to be working good for me so far. The only thing annoying thus far is the lag in bringing it from sleep with the power button. There's a second or 2 delay before the screen comes on after you hit power. In 2.1 it was nearly instantaneous.
Im not getting it to rotate to the right,

Thanks for the Post! Found some things I wasn't aware of.
I'm on this Stock Froyo Rom(DK17) and everything I've tried is working great. Notification Bar swipe for brightness works as well as Media Hub.

Although many great reports.. and some not so..
This is obviously NOT the final release. lets remember that..
It is so close now and will be great. (or better at least)
I myself tested on 3 diff phones, found recurring and non- recurring defects which point to the fact that this particular release in its entirety wont be pushed OTA to the masses.. it cant. wont handle the endless differences out in the wild..
And to be expected.. Exactly the reason why upgrades take time.

Nexus S - Bugs & Wishlist

Hey guys, I believe we are going to need a general thread to report and discuss Nexus S bugs so here it is!
Let me start by reporting what I found so far.
1. Screen does not respond to the first/second touch after unlock.
2. Email app (not Gmail) does not zoom in/out. We are talking about a really bad experienced when displaying HTML emails.
3. Again for Mail app signature is not included when you create mail straight from Contacts.
4. SMS Delivery Reports are a MESS. Send SMS to a person getting delivery report pop-up for another completely unrelated number while the original message is still pending. We are talking about a disaster here lool
5. Also for the SMS Delivery reports. Pop up notification display the number and not the contact's name.
6. Many websites are causing the browser to act very slow for none reason. (with Flash activated or deactivated). Major example androidcentral.com. I found many websites that causing major lag on browser.
7. MMS are blurry as reported by many
8. Battery Never charge to 100% even if your phone displays 100% it drops to 97% once you unplug it. If I remember correctly I had the same problem with Nexus One.
9. Calendar Widget does not display "Today's" events
10. Google forgot to put Digital Zoom on Camera App. (And yes digital zoom is worthless but many people for some reason like it and miss it.)
11. Not really a bug, but if you notice on Gingerbread Google placed the keyboard 1cm above the bottom of the screen, is not located all the way to the bottom of the screen like previous Android versions. that 1cm is more than enought for me to hit blank screen and not the space bar when I am typing.
12. On keyboard you have to press and hold to select a smile icon. Then you need to keep holding your finger down until you actually select what you want.
13. There is not multiple select threats on messaging. So If I want to delete multiple threads I have to do it one by one...
14. Contacts Associated with Facebook Contacts have a really blurry really bad quality picture on caller id.
Wishlist:
1. We are on Android 2.3 and Google still doesn't giving us the option to install different locales. I mean not many people care for Language Menus but we do need the official Keyboard to add other freaking Languages. This is ridiculous...
2. Copy Paste is well improve but is very immature. Evey app use different method to generate copy and paste.
3. Hardware-wise the phone supports flawless 720p video recording. Why Google didn't include it?
4. The phone needs a native video-call app. Google needs to update Gtalk ASAP.
5. Called ID picture is way too small for this gorgeous 4 inch Super Amoled display.
add to error-list:
13. facebook sync is not working 100% correct - i got many gmail contacts witch are not synced with the facebook contact (would not be that bad but my girlfriends contact is not syncing right)
ad to Wishlist:
5. notificatins led would be cool ... (SMS, MSS, MAIL, ...) nut the 3 would be very very cool ...
I agree with it all. My main issue is the 'deadzone' which is the 1cm edge of the touch screen.

This is NOT a bug. This is by design.
To elaborate, from the stickied FAQ:
unremarked said:
Q: I unplugged my phone, and my battery dropped from 100% to 95% immediately, or it won't/takes along time to charge past 99%, what gives?
This is by design. Your phone will slow down and eventually stop pulling charge at or slightly greater than ~95% regardless of what your battery indicator says. This is to extend the overall life of the battery, as constant 100% to 0% charge/discharge cycles will cause it to fail prematurely. If you're interested in really pushing it to 100%, you can use a technique that is called "bump charging" and is better detailed here: http://bit.ly/f6xiZ0/

Sorry, jumped the gun a little. See the quote I edited in.
Like I said, this is by design.
EDIT: I also have some of the things you've pointed out listed in the Known Issues section of the FAQ, and some that you don't have.
BUG: touch screen area
the bug i've found so far... (which can be fixed by a screen calibration app)
the first half inch of the screen right above the 4 soft buttons, are not very responsive, unless you use your finger tips
so when you Naturally use the THUMB to press those quick shortcuts from Launcher Pro, or stock Android Launcher it won't react.... which is rather annoying.
never had that problem with the SGS
I started a thread over at Android Central to get people to visit reported issues to Google and star them. Here's the list so far. Let's add to it.
1) Random ringtone/notification tone changes: Ringtones assigned to contacts do not maintain assignment after a reboot
2) Disappearing App icons on the home screen or difficulty in moving them: Disappearing Home Screen Icons
3) Disappearing photos from the Gallery:
Issue 13419 - android - New pictures disappear in Gallery - Project Hosting on Google Code
4) Repeal the 15-min return policy in App Market (it used to be 24 hours): Issue 13116 - android - Change refund time in Market. 15min is way to little. - Project Hosting on Google Code
5) Accelerometer not working after using Sky Maps: Nexus S-Accelerometer will not work after using Sky Maps
6) After screen times out, you can't bring it back when using speakerphone or earbuds: after screen times out, you can't bring it back when using speakerphone or earbuds
Hmm, that deadzone seems like it'll be a troublesome issue for me... Can you please post a picture of the keyboard displacement? (I haven't got my NS yet, so I don't know how it looks)
i don't know if this is one of the error.. but the charging time is ridiculous. i could charge up to 2 hours and still not finish charging.. the battery run out ridiculously fast too.. with normal usage it barely manage more than half a day.. i adjust my screen brightness to the minimum level and turn off background data and auto sync (i just turn them on when i needed them), and use it to play a little bit of games and watching movies.. 8 hours is around the best time i got..
another known issue is poor wifi signal =(..i am standing 1 meter from my router and the signal could drop from full bar to 1 bar while my sister macbook could receive wifi from another room that is quite far from the router..
Something I noticed yesterday was notification tones almost nonexistent despite the volume being at full blast. When pressing the volume rocker I barely hear anything. I fixed this by rebooting the phone but still something that's a little alarming.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but i hope they fix the MMS/image upload orientation issue
I dont know if this is considered a nexus bug, but...
-Youtube app, if I search for, select, and watch a video...after completion, if I press search again, and type something in, after hitting enter it simply clears the search screen and returns to finished video. In order to make a new search I have to back back back all the way to the first youtube screen or force close/reopen youtube app. Again this is using the provided youtube app, not youtube mobile
I haven't experienced any of the things in that list, but then again they are pretty app specific and I don't use any of those apps. One thing I did experience was the Facebook app just logged me out and lost all my contact sync settings. This happened to me twice, but it is more likely a Facebook problem and not Gingerbread.
Oh, I did notice the battery charge thing but like someone else mentioned I don't consider that a bug.

I have no idea what they're talking about. o_o I have almost always used the stock Messaging app on every Android phone I've ever owned (and I've owned a fair share of them, see sig) and never once have I had a problem anywhere CLOSE to what they're reporting.
I've only ever had two issues with messaging was on the Nexus One, it's weak 3G/phone signal would cause alot of messages to not send randomly. And the other was my GF would sometimes receive duplicates of messages after flashing/reflashing/restoring things on my G2. Interestingly enough, no one else told me they were getting duplicates 'cept for her.
EDIT: Beyond that, I take what Engadget says with a great grain of salt. I consider them to be the FOX News(instead of the GOP, it's Apple) of phone/technology blogs.

I9100xxlpq (4.0.3) issue list <------

So, lets make a list of issues with this release:
1. Wifi from time to time crashes when enabling it, for example when you try to enable wifi it goes into "limbo state" where you cannot disable or enable it again.
2. Shazam/soundhound cannot identify songs if you play them from integrated music player.
3. The 3rd one is most hardest to explain, basically if application crashes "home" button does not work (in gingerbread it always worked), so you have to wait app to respond or wait about 30 seconds for android message, that application hung.
I'm seriously thining about returning back to gingerbread due to these issues, although battery usage is nice and gps work really impressive, but this release is very buggy
read the stickies - you know...the giant one right at the top of the screen that says
*******DO NOT Start any more New Threads on ICS*******
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544657
I dont care what it says, its not related to that topic anyway, I'm sure I'm not only one who has issues with this release and I think it would be a great idea to keep all issues in one forum thread instead on many threads in this forum.
I'll add an issue too: it has Touchwiz.
Exchange battery bug drain!
Before stating any issue at all, one should state whether or not they did a full wipe/factory reset, if you didn't, the problem is not the firmware, but the owner of the phone.
Of the three issues stated by the opening poster, I only have one, which is the lengthy wait if an app force closes, the other two are not firmware bugs, they are user bugs.

Do it after installing on stock kernel to be 100% sure
except for the occasional force close, I have zero issues (three so far, twice was gmail and lastly the PGA Tour App)
And I did test both Soundhound and Shazam while playing music, identified songs in less than 10 seconds
first of all, i did a full wipe before and after flashing, have no mods installed, just a bunch of apps.
for me, the biggest problem right now is email with social hub. in gingerbread, when i opened the social hub it was in the state i left it, mostly the email accounts overview, now it always starts on feeds, and when you click messages, it shows all accounts' combined inbox and it seems kinda buggy, because the number of new emails never match. notifications show 3 new emails, the social hub says there is 5 and upon opening, it looks like there is only one, because the combined inbox just does not work properly.
also, i set it to display the next message, once i deleted one, but no, it goes back to the ridiculous overview. and within an email there is no next message and previous message buttons anymore, they are only present in the email app, which, incidentally, looks like the social hub, but has completely different buttons, whereas on gingerbread, it was exactly the same (only that the social hub also has facebook and twitter, which is why i use it, to combine all messages in one place, at least if it works).
another bug i already posted in the release thread (but of course it was lost in between all the noob posts, "halp, mai pohne brokez") is that many menu items are way too long and disappear to the right, see attached screenshot. there are settings with checkboxes, and you can't even read, what you just activated/deactivated.
samsung should either make small blue explanations underneath or let those lines scroll through to reveal the right part.
also, after rooting, i could not restore my titanium backup, so i set it all up manually and even then, google play apps that install to the sd card by default, didn't work.
Solution: flashing back stock kernel. another piece of important information, completely lost in the release thread.
i never bothered before, because with the old bootloader and if you bring your device into bootloader mode using the jig, you never have a yellow triangle. (yes, even if you root your device and NOT use the jig afterwards, no yellow triangle).
the following might be specific to my device and not apply to yours, so it does not count as a bug:
when i bought the phone in june '11, it came with ke2 i believe, and it got incredibly hot while playing 3d games (gameloft etc.). non of the roms that came after that had that problem until la2, which also had incredibly poor battery life.
now, lpq has great battery life and does not really get hot, but once you play, while charging your phone, it gets as hot, as it never has before. yesterday, after 30 minutes of osmos hd, i couldn't continue, as my fingers hurt, touching the display and the phone's backside. on battery, i can play for hours without any temparature change.
(if anyone can confirm this, i'd be glad)
oh and before i forget:
@leftovermagic and the others posting while i write this:
the point of that sticky is to stop noobs from creating a new thread with the same topic, which is "lpq released". this is a bug collection and just like the "my first impressions" thread it is something different from the release message. as stated above, reported bugs get totally lost in that thread with hundreds of people too stupid to flash the rom in the first place.
if this thread were to be kept clean from comments and just be a collection of bug reports, it would be useful, general whining is not.
EDIT: oops, forgot the screenshot.
For me the big problem is that some games black screen after 1 minute playing, especially many gameloft games..
Not compatible with ICS yet?
Guys, to keep information somewhat organized and to respect lufc's sticky to not create anymore ICS threads, please discuss issues in one of these 2 existing threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 (preferable)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544557
This makes searching and keeping up with things much simpler.

[Poll] Which bug/issue do you wish to get fix in the next official update?

For my experience of coming from ICS to this new official JB release I9300XXDLJ4 BTU.
I liked to see this phone being up-to-date on latest OS and getting better performance (Keep the good work up, Samsung!), but there are still bugs and issue that are found in this rom.
Which bug/issue annoy you the most? and wish to get fix in the next update by Samsung?
1) Lag on opening Contact and Dialer - It is more noticeable in JB, since all other apps open faster but not these two which should get speed up or keep in memory.
2) Multi-task with games and apps - when open 1 game and then play another game at the same time it will close and reload the 1st game from the beginning no matter how many free memory you have. Not cool at all. [Fix: bestMultiTaskingFix 5 by mattiadj read this]
3) Wake up from home button problem - On screen turned off, when press the home button instead of going back to your active apps you use before screen off, it go to home screen. This is very annoying and it affect everyday use. [Fix: No wipe need. Go to Application List -> S-Voice ->Settings -> Keep "Open via the home key" ticked. ]
4) Slow wifi problem - The wifi speed is found to be slower in JB compared to ICS.
5) Gallery full screen problem - There is a black bar on top of Gallery's photo in full screen mode.
6) Battery drain - Some user have report battery drain on JB. It could be likely that it need a full charge after flash to get correct battery level. Some user report flash + full wipe could solve it. I will spend a few more days on test.

Please post any issue you have experienced or workaround you have found useful on JB rom.
My findings with all this
1) I don't notice
2) I loaded up dead trigger & riptide gp, both restart from the point I left them. No idea what I'm doing differently.
3) Not affected by that
4) See 3
5) I don't think it's a bug, maybe a feature of the gallery

None of those. I would like copy and paste to understand the gaps inbetween sentences and paragraphs ideally don't need removing when copying large bodies of text. It was the same in ICS and I can't believe it's the same with stock JB.

What battery drain? No problems here...
This thread is making me yawn...
Thanks for quoting me! Glad to see that people are taking these problems seriously!
I recently wiped my phone in order to test whether that made a difference. None, unfortunately! I'm a heavy phone user and I notice the little things. I have seen people here saying that multitasking works. YES, it does but with apps!!! Apps resume their state, most games do not! The same games used to resume their state on ICS but they don't on Jellybean. Also, Android System keeps consuming a LOT of my battery. I've got the same setup and the same games/apps on JB as I had on ICS. There's a huge difference! It's quite annoying.
Another thing they need to fix is they need to give the Video Player its own brightness controls. I know that the system controls are just a swipe away but why take away a good feature, Samsung?

It feel that it need to list all the bugs here, this help people finding/raising the solution of the same problem. One day, it could be all solved.
For the battery drain, I am waiting for more of battery stats.
Brightness controls on video player could well be another motion as an option. That would be a good feature to show off.

12-11-14 Update

I have seen posts in other threads about the update and I feel that a post about the update in any of those threads would detract from that threads purpose. So I made one instead.
I 'm on Boost and the update itself is just under 25MB, and per the Apps list it appears that half of that went to the new Contacts app based on size (not sure if download was compressed or not). It took roughly 10 minutes to completely install and it slowed waaaaayyy down when it reached 70+% on "Phase 1." "Phase 2" was fairly quick. I couldn't get a picture of the screen but it is a plain black background with only white text denoting information and progress. "Phase 1" would slowly blink on and off during that installation cycle. I was on battery and it ate roughly 5-6% during the process.
Bloat: it's hardly there. All I noticed was the addition of adding your Yahoo account credentials to work with the new Contacts app (I'm assuming), and after removing it it does not appear in the Add an Account menu. The new Contacts and Data Collection Tool app (the two are most likely associated) cannot be removed, but can be disabled. Also, there are some new wallpapers, being "Magic Smoke" and "Music Visualization." I don't know what they look like since I have no need for them and disabled them too. There may be other additions that I have not caught. I really wish we have root to get rid of the Connections Optimizer. It re-enables itself after the update and is more aggressive in wanting to be used.
Battery life: I have seen an improvement in SOT with Data/Wi-Fi, but still have drainage while the phone is not in use/asleep. I have uninstalled my Battery app (Battery Solo Widget Pro) and disabled the Battery notification in Power Toggles (never set it to poll to begin with) to see if they could have been the culprit. For context I actively use Greenify and set it for all apps I don't need to be constantly running, and turn Data/Wi-Fi/etc . off when I am done using that feature and have location set to Battery Saving.
I don't know how many of youz guys have installed the update, but I'd be happy to help with any questions I can answer.
Battery settings detail is now showing up when it would force close previously. I'm going to assume they also may have fixed the WIFI cert issue some people where having.
I save most of the logcats logs if anyone wants to have a peak at those. OTA updates were provided via Redbend.
Won't update with a low battery
I just when to try the update to see if there is a resolution to the Wifi 802.1xEAP certificates bug and it downloaded very quickly. However, when I clicked OK to install, it came back and said the Battery was too low and to install later. Even with the phone plugged into the USB port! (Yes the battery was down to about 1/4). Fortunately it looks like it kept the download.
The only concern I have with this upgrade is the google security update. I'm just wondering if I'll be closing a hole needed to root this phone.

Good thing Sharp fixed the Battery detail bug. I can confirm that Sharp has not fixed the cert issue. jh2015 posted in the thread about the issue that Sharp told him/her that it will not be fixed.

Can't say I'm well versed in Android but when capturing the logcat file the only file name I could find after the download was
f_SG306SH_S8216toSG306SH_SA300.shdiff
the only two URLs I could find were

Could not access /cache/ or /fota/ after the download since there is not root access. I personally was unable to find or rewrite the download to a different location due to permissions.
Smart Contacts and Phone
The new smart contacts and phone app is very Lollipop. I wonder if this is an indication that the Aquos Crystal will get an 5.0 update, maybe no time soon, but in the future.

I don't think there's an actual on/off option but if your phone is on vibrate or silent then you shouldn't hear the shutter sound.
Ting still working?
Has anyone on Ting using the Boost (white) version installed the update?
If so: (a) Is everything still working on Ting? (b) Is Spark LTE still working on Ting?
