Hi. I think I promised to tell my feelings of the Samsung slab after I got it, so here goes:
tl;dr: I like it very much, almost perfect for what I want it to be.
Specs we all know, so not much point brooding over that.
(EDIT: For those of you who want to know: Froyo.XWJJ3 / Baseband P1000XXJID / Kernel 2.6.32.9)
Price: I'm paying 32.90€/month for mine, no other charges. Unlimited data/calls are part of my earlier contract. I think it's worth it, even though the price is quite high compared to, for example, the states.
First impression: Sturdy, heavy. Perfect size. NICE display.
Usage
Browser: Otherwise butter-smooth (pinch-to-zoon is smooooth), but somehow scrolling is really jerky. I don't like that, but it's not THAT bad.
Camera: Sucks balls. It's easy enough to use and that 7" display is a treat to use as a viewfinder, but really, the camera is bad. Much worse than SGS's. (Still pictures, I haven't tried video.) I haven't really tried in good like outside (hard this time of year here), but inside the pictures suck. No way to say it nicer, sorry.
Interface: I hate TouchWiz. The stupid "you-are-on-screen-#" at the top spoils the look and makes it impossible to arrange widgets so that the topmost looks good. The Application Drawer is .. I don't know.. infernal? If there wasn't LauncherPro Plus available for such a small price, that alone would've made me re-think the purchase. I can't comment on the smoothness of TouchWiz on Tab since I installed LP+ after just about 20min of use. LP+ on the other hand, is butter-smooth. I really like it even though it only supports the standard 4x4 grid of icons (or, with the option I always keep selected, 4x5 grid).
I don't use the included mail client since I only use Gmail. No comments on that. The calendar is really good, it fits my usage perfectly. the Notes app is about the same as in SGS and I couldn't really live without it anymore. I use it too much
The reader's hub is rather pointless here, since the newpaper AND magazine parts aren't yet activated. Only the books work, and since it's the Kobo reader, it only supports the kobo-store and can't import ePubs (at least I couldn't find the option). Sucked balls, but at least Samsung included the "eBook" app by Aldiko.
Which, weirdly, is NOT the same app that is included with the SGS. The Tab's version is waaay better with more options to view/arrange the books and looks nicer with page transition animations. Weirdly though, it takes RREEAALY long to load a book if it has many pages. Much, much longer than the free Aldiko app takes on the same Tab. I like the free app so it doesn't matter that much.
The speakers aren't really that great. Much, much better than SGS, but that isn't much to say, SGS's speakers suck deep. You aren't going to enjoy listening music via the speakers, but I don't think anyone expected that anyway. They are good enough for game sounds and voice calls.
Incidentally, call quality is top-notch compared to Desire or SGS. I can't see why I wouldn't use the Tab as a primary phone al the time (other than the fact that I own the SGS already and carry it with me anyways). If you have something private to talk about, use headset (or a separete phone as I do with SGS. Since they all work with the same contract via MultiSIM, I can use every device interchangeably as they all ring the same time and calls come from the same number regardless of what device I call from.)
Size: YES IT DOES FIT. (sorry) Unlike some other forum members seem to think (and now that I really own the Tab, I REALLY call shenanigans on some parts of that said member's writings, or his sanity, depends) the Tab IS pocketable. I only own TWO pairs of trousers that I can't fit the tab in. I only carry it in front pockets so I can't comment on back pocketing ability) The build quality is SUPERB it doesn't, really doesn't feel like plastic-y like the SGS. When that one member commented something about breaking the Tab in half, he was either Trolling on purpose, or he had been trolled BADLY in the first place. The Tab is really sturdy and I couldn't bend it if I wanted to, much less BREAK it. The front is covered with Gorilla Glass for added protection.
It IS rather heavy, so I don't expect to carry it around in any trousers that don't sport a belt, but that's not really a problem. I don't use jeans at all, so don't know about those.
It DOES NOT recharge when connected to a computer via an USB port. The supplied charger, however is standard-looking adapter that plugs into a mains socket and has an USB-port on the top. I will test to see if the tab recharges from a) two usb ports on a computer connected with y-cable, like some 3G modems need or b) 3rd-party USB-charger like that one Samsung supplied (but goes around 5€ rather than ~30€ for the Samsung one...)
Somehow the Tab downloads/installs programs REALLY much faster than the SGS and it doesn't have the "SGS-lag" Supercurio is so adapt at fixing. I haven't tried any benchmarks for scoring, but based on pure opinion and usage, I'd bet that the Tab DOES NOT utilize the same RFS partitions as the SGS. At least it doesn't act like the SGS, which is all good and cool
The battery lasts long, but with only two days of use I can't comment more. I'll just say that as it came pre-charged and I played with it the whole day, it was only down to ~45% in the late evening.
Please, do ask questions about the Tab and I'll answer as much as I can. And I'll add more info about it after a few more days of use.

I agree about that "best android device" statement. I really like this Tab a lot.
A couple more bits of info:
Sadly, no, you CANNOT recharge the thing with either a) or b) options. I was using a Deltaco -branded 5€ mains-socket -style usb charger rated with 1A and the Tab refused to work. Also same when connected to computer via y-cable adapter that came with Huawei's 3G modem (takes power from both usb-ports).
The supplied charger is rated at 2A, which might be the point here. I'll continue to search for a 3rd-party charger that would work because I really, really don't feel like ordering any number of the original Samsung adapters at that price.
The screen: OK - it's not a SuperAMOLED screen, which I'm DEEPLY in love with in the SGS. It is just pure bliss and heaven watching that 4" screen with so vibrant colors and awesome contrast - nothing even comes close.
But. It's no standard TFT either. I'd say it's just on par with normal AMOLED/SuperLCD screens used in the HTC Desire currently. Definitely better than the HTC Hero's screen. The black is not as black as SGS's SuperAMOLED but otherwise the color reproduction is quite close to that. It's crisp and contrasty enough.

This has been discussed before... the tab will charge over powered USB. Just very, very slowly.
The USB can be plugged into an Apple Iphone socket and used in the wall as well to charge....

Well, I'd really like this to be true. But unfortunately at least my Tab doesn't. Or then it recharges REALLY slow, I mean less than 1% in 3 hours. I tried.
Mine just displays the charge icon overlaid by a circle with a slash when connected to any other than the supplied charger.
I don't own an iphone so can't try that charger.

Not REALLY, no. It's just a grid to arrange the icons, it's not "the real thing". As in, with that columns/rows option, LP just crops/cuts the icons/widgets and sticks them to the screen. MOST of the time this just looks HORRIBLE. There's another option that allows the real 4x5 grid, and that's what I'm talking about. The columns/rows option is just a "virtual" grid over the "real" one.
Ok, I don't make much sense, but try it. I wouldn't keep those options up more than absolutely necessary, they destroy any semblance of nice visuals there is
EDIT: Hookay, TRY before speaking... I was talking with the experience of using that option in the Galaxy S.. on Tab it ACTUALLY looks kinda good... I admit, my fault. -> I'm now using a grid of 6x7 and it looks mighty good - thanks for that mate!

It will charge faster off a powered hub or one of the ports at the back of your pc. Im using a dlink port replicator and when the tab is plugged in i can play angry birds without losing battery...

I always (regarding phones, at least) use a powered hub (or my G19 keyboard, which acts like a powered hub anyways), or the aforementioned Deltaco-brand charger that outputs 1A (double the amount of a powered usb port) but still no dice. My Tab just DOES NOT recharge on anything else that I have available than the supplied 2A-rated Samsung charger. I haven't tried y-cabling two of those, but honestly, that is going a bit too far
Fortunately, recharging the Tab is not that an issue as it is with the SGS, I'm still only down to 52% battery and I last recharged yesterday evening-ish or so. Played with it a lot and read late at night. Been surfing and doing stuff the whole day with it. I'm guessing from current battery drain that I can get around 20h of near-constant use out of it, which is way more than I expected so I'm very happy with it.

Can you please give further information on this ~ as in where you got the SIM's from, how much, what kind of tariff, etc. etc.
I would dearly love to use the same SIM contract on both my Galaxy S & Tab.

Well, it is kind of standard here in Finland for operators to offer such service. Mine is from Saunalahti. The original contract is from 2006? or 2008 I don't really remember. It includes 3000 min of calls to the same (and parent/sister) operator. Monthly payment is 0€. (it was originally like this because I took a phone at the same time.)
Later I added a data plan to it that's 13.90€ per month, includes unlimited data at unlimited speed (depends on network) and MultiSIM for up to 5 devices total. All features of the original and data plans are accessible from all the five devices simultaneously except sms messages only arrive to the device with the original sim card.
Well, that's it, really.

Only about halfway through, but I noticed something interesting. When discussing the browser and how most sites are still displaying the mobile version, he seemed to not have done any further searching as if he had, they probably would have found the "about:debug" fix. While I've heard that it isn't a persistent change, it still works out when in a pinch. Just thought it was odd they weren't aware/didn't do further searching on the issue.
Hm. So far this seems to be one of the better reviews out there (outside of the 10 pages of clicking...). Thanks for this.
Very good review. Ars Technica is one of the best Tech Blogs out there, and very rarely do their writers come across as fanboys of one OS or another. This review really confirmed to me that although the Xoom is a great start, it will likely be summer before I purchase an Android tablet to keep (mainly I'm waiting on flash, lower prices, microSD fixed, and more Honeycomb apps). I am very much in support of Honeycomb, but it's not time for me to buy yet.

I started reading this review and I can't help to notice they say 7 hours of mixed use. I have had email notifications pushing, wifi on the whole time, and got 20 hours @ 50% battery left. This is leaving it on over night and playing games and messing with it for at least 3-4 hours straight, as well as syncing/transferring files, playing games like Words with Friends, etc. So I am very skeptical about this 14 hours of standby time. I got the device to 25 hours and it was still well over 30-35%.

That's the issue with discussion on battery life. Unless it's explicitly mentioned what was done, when and for how long, it's hard to gauge exactly could be considered "intensive use" and look at battery life that way.
Ars rocks. Hopefully google will speed things up a bit in regards to the current disadvantages of the Xoom. Thus far, most of them can be cleaned up with a couple of patches. Hopefully it happens soon.

Before charging mine for the second time yesterday when it was around 18%, I had reached 26-27 hours of use. This is after I played, oh I don't know, an hour of Gun Bros, an hour (if not more) of Hex Defense (I think that's what it's called), push notifications on from, gmail, Twitter, fb, browsing, etc. I literally didn't put it down for at least 4 hours straight at one point. The screen was on auto/a third brightness. I even listened to an entire album, so around an hour of music playing.
I really don't see how anyone can have the audacity to say it's standby doesn't last for at least 24 hours.
Did someone get an LTE equipped version that we don't know about? Otherwise I just don't see how that's possible.

Same here, at 32% battery I was at 29 hrs of use. And this was after nonstop usuage. It was a new toy and I just played around on it for hours. Battery is definitely solid.

So apparently Moto has stumbled across something here - an Android device that can be used AND last longer than 24 hours without a problem!
Now if only every device could follow in its footsteps... Sure, the battery is bigger than a phone, but so is the screen, not to mention all of the stuff crammed in it (like a barometer I have no idea how to use yet).

It's the first device running Honeycomb. Even with that said, I haven't had any crashes or freezes. It's running great for me.

While frustrating it's understandable. The iPad has a proprietary power adapter and doesn't charge through USB. Plus the Xoom charges pretty quick

I disagree, I love the built in e-mail client. Regardless their are plenty of other options for Android, and will hopefully be built new for Xoom/Honeycomb.

Haven't had any problems yet.
The browser issue is quite dissapoiting to me (as a web developer). I hoped for a full webkit browser with extensions. Maybe Firefox4 for Android will be better?

Extensions would be nice, and I can't believe Google still hasnt fixed typing lag in the browser yet (on some sites)
While the charger on the Ipad is "proprietary", its the same charger that is used on other devices of theirs. Also the Ipad will charge from USB, but very slowly.
I'm disappointed in their review. It's not very good, and seems in some spots like they're looking for something critical to talk about, like the default email client: yeah, it's not great, but it's been not-great for a while now, and isn't a Xoom-specific issue; they talk about future-proofing issues with browser rendering, correctly stress that it's not a big deal right now, but then make a big deal of it in the conclusion.
The review's written like the author doesn't really care about the device. Engadget's review seems a lot more balanced compared to this one.
(PS. Lots of reviews keep talking about the lack of tablet apps. Wasn't this _exactly_ the same issue when the iPad 1 came out?)

I think you mean 2000 apps that were compatible with the iPad in full-screen. Google made the mistake of labeling the Tablet section in the Market as Tablet Apps. They have since corrected it to be Featured Tablet Apps. Most Android apps work fine on the Xoom, even if they don't support the new Honeycomb UI guidelines. Since Apple just threw their existing UI onto a larger device, there isn't really a comparison here.
Hi folks over A500 forum, i'm thinking to get myself an A500, but i afraid that i'll regret buying this tablet, because i've read some quite hmmm.... negative feedback about it.
some says that the charger wouldnt charge [i can assume that he has a faulty unit], poor mic, gps, unresponsive keyboard, weak wifi. So can anyone of you kindly enough to tell me what can i expect this tablet will be weak at?
I can tolerate at the poor camera quality though.

I have not found any issues at all with my tab. It is not an A500 but may as well be. (Gateway A60 running A500 roms). I use it at work and at home.
This tablet is pretty much perfect. The camera quality is fine as far as I am concerned (Front and rear), it is easily rootable, even if you install the OTA updates and the price point is where it needs to be.
The only thing that I have been on the lookout for is ICS but so far I am OK with HC. Way better than the Froto on my gtablet.

Go to the store and play with the Tablets... the gps is a issue.. mic is a issue (only with video chat)
you need to root to fix the gps issues the patch is in the dev section also to tether again patch here in the forum.

As already said by others, weak GPS, keyboard kinda sucks, glossy screen that really shows finger prints, etc. What I haven't seen mentioned, is the inability to properly play HD mkv's, most ppl will say you don't need high quality on tablet, and they are right, but, what if you want to hook your tab to a hotel TV to watch HD, etc. There also seems to be a lot of stuff in the market that is not compatible with this tab (specifically for me, mybuick and onstar)
That being said, having a usable USB port is pretty handy, the micro SD,(missing on the Zoom) micro HDMI are all nice to have. Microphone works well for apps like Skype as long as you use headphones.
You should be using headphones for video conversations anyway, otherwise the mic picks up the sounds coming from the speaker and then you have yourself a poorstorm of feedback.
I have never had any sort of keyboard issue with my tab. This is actually the first I heard of any sort of keyboard issue.
The rear camera is 5 megapixels, so expect 5 megapixel quality. Except for the newest Tegra3 tabs, this is the best camera you can get on a tablet.
You have to expect that this tablet comes from the first generation of real Android tablets that hi the market. As a result, you have to expect that there will be some issues with it. The good thing is that devs has created fixes for common problems (like GPS, wifi etc) so if you are someone who is in to rooting, this is a great tablet.

The rear camera is 5 megapixels, so expect 5 megapixel quality. Except for the newest Tegra3 tabs, this is the best camera you can get on a tablet.
You have to expect that this tablet comes from the first generation of real Android tablets that hi the market. As a result, you have to expect that there will be some issues with it. The good thing is that devs has created fixes for common problems (like GPS, wifi etc) so if you are someone who is in to rooting, this is a great tablet.

I played Transformer, G Tab10.1, and A500 at the store before, and fall in love with the port and weight of this tablet. But the thing that frustrated me is the keyboard delay it has[btw, i dont really know what happened on that tablet though]
And how was the wifi strength? I heard reports say that it drops quickly?
I love my a500 and should you learn to root and flash you'll uncover the real power and potential in the device. that being said it should be mentioned the a500 is old tech that is going to be replaced by newer more powerful models this year. as these models come out the cutting edge developers will migrate and Dec on the a500 will slow down somewhat. this does not mean the a500 isn't a good purchase option. its great hardware that with the right software is just amazing. but it is on the backside of its lifespan and that carries some downfalls that should be mentioned.

I've never had wifi dropouts, either at home or at work.
The public wifi at work is pretty bad but I have never had a problem logging on and its never dropped out.
Keyboard, again no issue here...
Haven't really played with GPS properly but do use co-pilot. I do find we seem to have pretty bad satellite reception here in OZ but when I have played around it seems pretty reliable, but again only done short trips...
Love the USB, this is why I bought the Acer A501 in the 1st place, no other tab had one. Expandable memory also a BIG plus...
I like the fact I can attach a 1Tb HDD and use this on my tab too...
No real problems, aside from the locked bootloaders Acer insists on sticking on its tabs, most things are fairly good.
I love my A500, but after taking it to meetings and with me pretty much all the time, I find it a bit heavy. I use it almost exclusively professionally and end up using dropbox more than USB drives. I would probably go with a GT10.1 because of the weight and thickness.

Picked up my A500 from The Source on a boxing day special price. It was a bit of an impulse, but also a bit of tech jealousy as my cousin had bought one the week before so he could learn to program apps for it and I got to play with it a bit on New Years. ANYWAYS. I loved it right away, and the prospect of rooting it was pretty awesome.
I have zero faults with this machine. It looks great, works great, was easily unlocked/rooted, and there is a ton of support on this forum. I just keep trying out new roms (4 diff. builds so far) and new kernels (on my 3rd one of those), and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
Only drawback is that I didn't buy one sooner.
picking one up today... 32GB for $220 I think its a fair deal...main reason i would even consider it is becuase its ICS upgradable
I also have a HP Touchpad with CM9 ICS... thats a great piece of equipment if your into modding as well!

I've gotten 5 days on standby with battery drain to 42% (busy week, it just sat on the bedside table for that time no usage). I figure it could have gotten to 10 days.
When I was using it as an e-reader running the Kindle app almost exclusively I was getting on average 3 days of use between charges, reading for about 3-4 hours a day (Game of Thrones books are LONG and addictive).
Right now I've been playing games on it and I can easily go a whole day (overclocked at 1504mhz) before having to charge it.
Standby had wifi turned on, but off when the screen was off. Reading I always had it in airplane mode, and playing games can be a mix between airplane and wifi. Actually it hasn't seemed to make a huge difference that I can see.
I've been reading for quite awhile because I got myself one (it's still on the way to me, so no hands on yet). I got it mainly because it's a Nexus and I'm done with those 3rd modifications on top of vanilla.
However, I'm getting really mixed comments from all of you guys. Some said it's really nice, some said it's the worst tablet. Although things are always going back to people's own preference but from what I read, 4.2.2 did give lotsa headaches to users mainly because of leaked memory and so.
So users, can you give me your truthful comments from both pros and cons? I can only get the device by next week and after that, it will be my time to list out my very own pros and cons.

I'm definitely ok with a bit of problems and it gives me perfect reason to root and tweak it on myself although some do claim that, it should work perfectly fine out of the box.

I also from time to time get random WiFi disconnects, which are easily fixed by toggling the WiFi off/on. With that being said I really like my N10 and am using it for more than I expected when I bought it. The display resolution, I/O speed and CPU are all outstanding.
At least the memory leak can be fixed and I read that the surfaceflinger driver developer already has it ready. This gives me hope that Android 4.3 will include the fix. The N10 used as a media consumption device is very good/excellent. I am not disappointed with my purchase.
My laptop at the about same price point (after including N10 accessories) has not been turned on in over three months. All my news reading has move from my desktop PC to the N10. I was surprised at how smooth that transition went.
The only thing that really bothered me about the Nexus 10 is how it could throttle and lower CPU clocks under general usage (general being like playing a game). But then again, the Nexus 4 also does this...

After almost a month, I had my first two reboots last night, both while watching an hourlong streaming video from a TV network site (using Firefox with Flash). Other than that, couldn't be happier with my N10.

Here's the thing that I always talk about. It's a nexus and all problems will be solved for sure by Google itself. With such a good display as well as the A15 architecture proc, it's really a beast and let alone the pure vanilla android.
People are a little bit over exaggerated about the bug, IMO. We receive the newest version and bugs are bearable with me. At least buyers should be aware of the firmware is always the latest which might be a little big buggy. Few positive comments over here are really making my day.
Another thing that bothered me is available RAM. Google states the tablet has 2GB of RAM, which is true (there is 2GB worth of RAM chips installed on the motherboard technically). Before 4.2.2, about 400MB was reserved specifically for the GPU, which is the largest amount of RAM I've seen on any Android device, so that left 1.6GB usable. Not that bad, and it still rounded to 2GB (most other devices though to be fair take like 200-300MB; but the N10 is driving a pretty beefy resolution)
WIth 4.2.2, the RAM reserved for the GPU doubled to 800-some MB (836?). So now the total RAM that the user can use on their own is 1.2GB. No longer nearly close to 2GB.
I guess nothing can really be done about it now, but I don't understand why there just isn't dedicated memory just for the GPU, or why Google doesn't just advertise how much RAM is actually available to use. This isn't an issue at all on most other devices, since the missing memory is usually a small amount, but when almost half of the advertised RAM is missing and not even user-configurable (most computers with IGPs sharing system memory at least let you specify how much you want to dedicated to it)... I find that pretty shady :/
On the other hand, I don't have any out-of-memory problems though (aside from the surfaceflinger thing), so it doesn't seem to be an "actual" issue.
I haven't really noticed anything wrong with my nexus 10 I think its great and fast. Also 4.3 is going to be released soon which should fix any software related issues and make it even smoother . I don't use my tablet as much as others might so maybe that's why I don't notice anything wrong. I generally use it 2-3 hours a day and the only thing I hat is the charging time which feels like forever and that it has a phablet ui rather than tablet look which wastes a little screen space. What they should do is get rid of notification bar and combine it with Nav bar like other tablets

Use full!screen and LMT/PIE and get all the screen resolution back (full 2560x1600). full!screen gets rid of both bars and provides a notifications pop-up while LMT/PIE can be configured with all the navigation buttons plus much more. I've been using that combination on rooted stock for months now and would never go back to the waste of space that either bar takes.
I like the clean AOSP browser in fullscreen mode plus thumb controls but it does not always paint properly when used with full!screen (artifacts where the navigation bar used to be). I switched to Ocean browser which is really AOSP with a new UI and that fixed the fullscreen paint issue.

If you can deal with random reboots don't worry about it. It really is something that depends on use. Watching YouTube via chrome will exacerbate the reboots. The actual app doesn't seem to eat the memory. However for my use I can't have it rebooting in the middle of a meeting or trying to dial into work so it has become something of a paperweight. I know how to consume the memory and how to avoid it but it will still eventually reboot. If your using it for goof off purposes instead of productivity you'll be fine. Also, please don't be an Android/Google apologist. They've had 6 months to fix the issue. And they don't market it as a device with buggy firmware that will reboot. If they called it Nexus 10 developer edition I'd agree with you.

Pros:
- Highest resolution tablet on the market, nobody else comes close, even latest iPad has 25% less pixels. I had a Thunderbolt display at work last year and loved working with so much screen real-estate, well, this tablet has even more pixels in 10" than that display had in 27".
- First Android device with beefy Cortex A15 CPU, the Exynos 5 Dual, still the only tablet on the market with A15.
- I actually like the build, fairly thin and I like the sticky material on back.
- For $500 for 32 GB, the one I got, you won't find any device with such high-end specs.
- Android 4.2.2 is usually fairly snappy, sometimes I go back and forth between the home screen and the application drawer just to see the snazzy zoom-in/zoom-out animation and how fast it is.
Each one of these comes with drawbacks however.
Cons:
- You want a high resolution, you have to pay for it with power draw. The display consistently accounts for about 60% of battery usage, even though I keep the brightness at about 30% under light and dial it down to the lowest setting in a dark room. The colors are good but a bit washed out, particularly when compared to an iPad. I wish it had a matte display like my Zenbook, as the glossy display does catch reflections, but I'm not sure that's possible for a tablet.
- The Exynos 5 CPU takes more power than it should and runs somewhat hot. Not as hot as the Tegra 3 in my HOX+, but fairly warm.
- I was surprised how heavy 1.3 lbs felt from the first time I held it. The battery in this thing is huge, 9Ah, compared to 2-3 Ah in most current flagship phones, like the One or S4. It probably had to be so big with that power-sucking display and CPU, but it adds weight.
- The build is a bit creaky and sometimes feels like you have to snap particular pieces back into place, probably to be expected at this cheap price.
- Android still has times when it starts lagging and everything you do takes a second or two to register. These slowdowns often come out of the blue and you're never sure what's going on. This is a mobile OS, so prepare to be frustrated when apps are backgrounded and cached data is lost, particularly if you're expecting something closer to desktop performance because of the specs. The known memory leak in 4.2.2 exacerbates this problem.
I'm happy with my Nexus 10, as I enjoy the high resolution and don't use it anywhere as much as my ultrabook. Now that I know about the memory leak, I may start trying to use it for web reading again, which I had to give up on because it was unusable when Chrome would start reloading every page for no reason. Now I know to reboot when that starts happening, so I at least have a workaround till they fix it.
I love the tablet, for the way I use it - which may be considered light use by most here - it is perfect. The memory issue is real there is no doubt about that. But it is also easily avoided. I reboot my N10 with a tasker profile once during the night and that is that. However I game on it very rarely and use it mostly for streaming movies or just browing the web. One reboot each night seems to be enough to not make these issues appear.
Having said that I have none of the other reported issues, no random reboots or whacky Wifi - I turn Wifi off when the tablet is not in use - but I am also running SentinelRom which seems to be ironing out a lot of the smaller issues. With this ROM scrolling for example has become a silky smooth affair.
Battery life is excellent, much better than the boards make it out to be. I rarely use the N10 with brightness above 25% because it is already so bright on that setting there is no need for it. There may be light bleed - hey it's an LCD after all! - but I never notice any the way I use it. The display is gorgeous in every way, shape and form and I really really like the fact that putting it on lowest brightness makes it really dark. This is perfect for using it in bed at night without getting eye cancer.
With the POGO charger the tablet even has decent charging speed.
Regarding build quality I cannot complain at all. My tablet is not creaky in the least. I had a TF101 which was way worse. I mostly use it with a Poetic smart cover and couldn't be happier. The weight is of course noticeable, but then again this is 10 inches of hardware, it will never feel light as a feather.
Still there are some undeniable software issues still present. The memory leak being one, some issues with scrolling (except when using SentinelRom) being another. But I have yet to see the "perfect" android device which so far does not exist. Google still has a lot of work to do.

Not getting the random reboots you speak of. Use my tablet 3-4 hours per day, sometimes more, and do not recall having 1 reboot. AOSP browser closures, yes, though with newer versions not as much. Have 2 Nexus 10 tablets, one stock, one sw display itching between SaberMod and Buttered AOKP.
Had both theTF101 and TF700. Went with the ASUS because of it's IPS+ display and SD card slot. 5 weeks after receiving, had to send it in for charging issues..oneof my main problems with the TF101. For the slight amount of money more for the Nexus 10, it is a much better option. Check out Swappa.com-can typically get a slightly used Nexus 10 for a really good price

You left out my next sentence. It depends on use. I can duplicate the surfaceflinger issue with eventual reboot on stock CM, buttered AOKP, and rasbean. Obviously we use the tablet differently.

I also left out the statement that got me to post originally: "However for my use I can't have it rebooting in the middle of a meeting or trying to dial into work so it mass become something of a paperweight." As the OP was curious about the reliability of this tablet, I wanted to offer a different perspective.
As a tablet for business, I use it for surfing (quote obtained from website, along with any needed client info), note taking, power point and excel, E-mail, along with a few other things. In a given day, I may spend 3-4 hours, while in client homes, using my tablet. So yes, we may use these differently, but for any "business" function I have thrown at it, it works fine. I also do not do many video presentations, which may explain why I do not experience the same issues as you.

I purchased one of the Woot refurbished Nexus 10's and just received a few days ago. It looked spanking brand new/never touched when taking out of the box. Was on 4.2 so OTA updated to 4.3, then 4.4. Not rooted.
One of the main reasons I purchased it was to stream netflix and amazon prime. I was able to get amazon prime working with Dolphin browser and the flash hack, but both constantly stop/lag when trying to stream a movie (amazon with message 'loading video', neflix with 'buffering').
I'm on wireless N network with 5 bars through the house on everything except for the Nexus, which only shows 2 bars. No issues streaming netflix/amazon through laptop or roku. Even when I take the N10 right next to the router where it will then move to 5 bars, I still can't stream successfully.
I've put the MAC address on high QOS, and also cleared the cache partition. Anyone have any other suggestions of what I could try? Or does this sound like a defective unit?

Why don't you try using the apps. There's a Netflix app and an amazon app. You. Won't need any hacks to get them working and I use the Netflix one just fine on mine.

So I'd suggest three approaches:
Try initially a Wifi booster app. My N7 gets a weaker wifi than my N4, both in terms of bars and Mbit connection. I had to use a N7 Wifi booster. The one I tried was Internet Speed Master https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nezdroid.internetspeedmaster
Do a stock flash. WUGS to 4.4, to clear out any 4.2.2--->4.3--->4.4 sedimentary layers, assuming you're comfortable with flashing stock rather than OTA updates?
My N7 Wifi woes I had to tweak my router to finally fix, which I changed from "auto" band and auto channel width, to using the tablet's own Wifi, the Wifi analyser app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer , to find which band was least congested and then I manually made it that band and manually made it 20mhz, then my speed went up by a factor of 5 !
Collectively, I can't tell you which of all 3 ideas was the "killer" one but I tried all 3 and Hulu on my N7 got progressively better. The most intrusive of the above is the middle one, so try say 3 then say 1 then finally 2.
I'd also appreciate feedback on progress as if this is a problem with N10 I'll be in your same shoes middle of the week when Woot's chosen idiotic postal service finally delivers.

Yeah, I bought mine on 24th, was fretting because it was in shipping status for three days and then was delivered USPS Friday (I'm in FL). Saturday I received an email from Woot saying it was shipped....

Ditto, ditto, not ditto, ditto, my email on Saturday showed a future Tuesday delivery. My unit is currently 20miles from house, apparently motionless for 3 days.

I'd also disable anything wireless on the N10 which isn't Wifi, to eliminate any interference inside your unit. I see from specs it has NFC so disable it and disable Bluetooth. If those last two ideas actually fix it then for sure your physical device has dud-ness but at least you got proof for a Woot return, or to negotiate for a credit if you can live with the problem.
Some of these refurbished units will have a legitimate reason for return, but as the original owner of your unit found, new units have issues too so I was game for a refurbished.

If those last two ideas actually fix it then for sure your physical device has dud-ness but at least you got proof for a Woot return, or to negotiate for a credit if you can live with the problem.
Some of these refurbished units will have a legitimate reason for return, but as the original owner of your unit found, new units have issues too so I was game for a refurbished.

Ok, well tried all 3 and unfortunately nothing worked. The lagging now seems to be a litter better, but now the lips don't match the words in either netflix or amazon streaming, which is extremely annoying.. Also tried completely erasing after the direct flash to 4.4.
If anyone has anything else I could try I would greatly appreciate it..

EDIT: So turned off the bluetooth as suggested above and lips sync now.... I want to listen with bluetooth headset, shouldn't this work??

Saw on another xda thread someone got the sony dr-bt22s bt headphones to work on a note 10.01 without audio lag. I got these years ago and were in a box in the shed of old electronics to sell on ebay, so charging them up (3hrs), fingers crossed as the fresh install seems to have solved the loading/buffering issues so far.
Ok, I'm about ready to give up, bluetooth is off and just tested streaming again and the lip synching issue is same bluetooth on or off. No other streaming in the house, 5 bars everywhere except on the tablet.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, thanks!
Network bandwidth is more of a WiFi issue. Lip sync is more of an app issue.
You might have one or both. The fact you have lip sync issues implies to me an app issue (but you might still have WiFi issues also).
Try to eliminate it to Wifi performance by doing a more basic test like FTP off a LAN device. Compare to some other working performing well device.
FTP tends to more track WiFi performance as it is a simple light protocol. Don't do SFTP or SCP.
If you don't have a LAN device to copy off then at least try WAN test like a Internet bandwidth test because that at least shows your bandwidth off the Internet which matches your intended use of the N10. There are Android apps for bandwidth testing but whatever you compare to should be as similar as possible e.g. another well performing Android device.
Then those results will confirm it is WiFi or not root cause. If it is WiFi then sounds like you got a dud. If not WiFi then you have an app/Abdroid issue.
Did you do a FULL wipe and flash?

Yes, I did a full wipe and fresh 4.4 install with wugfresh nrt. I do have a samsung galaxy s4 phone so will try speedtest from both to compare, thank you for the reply and suggestion!

Right so the N10 is getting pretty much the same raw bandwidth.
It might be worth doing these tests 3-5 times and average. N10 is slower but not enough to account for a major streaming issue.
I am sorry but I can't help you further but I'd say you have confirmed it is not really your N10 specific unit wifi fault so go ask your 4.4 and app questions in a more frequently accessed forum. There is about 5% of the postings in this forum than others due to few N10s sold.

I tried it on my N7 which also suffers relatively poor Wifi, it seemed to nudge up a LAN FTP speed up by an average of 25% but such is highly erratic I'd have to download like 10GB with it on/off before I could form a conclusion..... (I might do that... but it will take a few hours....)
I'll give it a try, thanks! Seems to be doing much better after the straight 4.4 install rather than the updates from 4.2..

My N10 is the fastest thing on my LAN, 5 bars and 130Mbit speed, but it's actual file-transfer speed is the same about 4MB/s. If I plug the harddrive directly in I get 20Mb/s. I know to ignore what the bars reads as they are arbitrarily set by the vendor.
It is worrying that we seem to need to flash stock to overwrite and start from scratch to get performance. I can theorise what is causing the problems but I don't know. My guess is they are not fully testing upgrades and they're doing say stock, upgrade, test, not stock, install loads of apps, upgrade, test.
I learned over 20 years to do periodic fresh installs with Windows, and even Linux, I'm overdue to a stock Ubuntu install. There is a creeping slowness which accumulates and install/deinstall don't put it back exactly as-is. Android 4.4, I was playing with NTFS read/write and in terminal looking at modules and files, and I installed an NTFS app and deinstalled it but left a change in the filesystem over-writing a newer file with an older file and not undoing it in de-install. So imagine that crappy coding over an entire OS?
Also, my only lagginess was in background file copies making interactive use really slow, it happened in two totally different 4.2.2. devices and went away with 4.4 stock fresh install, that implies they have tweaked the underlying filesystem, or how caching is done. A filesystem is not something you can upgrade in-situ, well not easily.
I spent 2 days benchmarking 4.2.2---OTA----4.3----OTA----4.4 vs stock 4.3 and stock 4.4 and the performance gain is real, both Wifi speed, file transfer speed. Stability doesn't seem affected though. I'll also now work out the minimum apps I need and just keep total apps to minimum, as installing/removing is not perfect.
