mmmm double confirmation. makes me feel all good inside.

Will everyone be able to unlock it or will this be reserved for MOTODEV people only?

This should mean anyone can run
fastboot oem unlock
Like the nexus one

if its unlockable someone from here will unlock it for everyone im sure. they just need the door of opportunity which the bootloader being unlockable is that door.

Indeed.
Now that they're giving answers, Twitter people need to start asking Motorola about the WiFi XOOM release date and see if they answer. I don't feel like signing up for Twitter just to do that. lol

Bought the Atrix!

After 5 days of non-stop reading the threads here, I finally decided to upgrade from the N1 (my best EVER phone) to the mighty Atrix! I haven't read anything that would discourage me from doing so. Sure, it doesn't appeal to everyone but, it has got to be the best phone out there right now.
Big thanks to all xda members for their useful feedback on a previous thread about it all, this forum rocks!!
Now bring on the the sim card unlock so I can use it in Germany..

What happened with the dump from the Unbranded/Dev/Test Device? Da_G?

Just wondered if there were any updates as to what was up with that one guys dev device that was unbranded and did have HSUPA enabled? Did you guys get a system dump and poke through it yet?
I was wondering the same thing. Agreed that things like these don't happen overnight, but the suspense is killing me. I hope Da_G and gang haven't given up on Atrix like some other devs.
Sorry if this is incorrect but I believe that design gears said he gave up on the attic in the thread where he posted the retail sbf

But Design Gears was a huge factor in any development done with the Atrix so far so having him gone is like a kick in the face.

I know my head would probably explode....
Well i will add some information for you guys then...
Da_G does have a dump from a Dev Atrix that had a unlocked bootloader and hsupa enabled. He attempted to write(not flash) the unlocked bootloader to a locked atrix. The write was successful. but upon further inspection it appears that moto(unsurprisingly) has this area write protected. He did successfully write it(as he read the data back byte for bye and it was the same as written) but it appears that the data is mapped to another section of nand.
This as as far as hes gotten right now, i do not know what he is currently attempting.

If not, i applaud Da_G for trying and risking his device.

There is a bounty thread already, should be enough as of now to buy a new atrix if im not mistaken. Its only going to get bigger...pretty good incentive. Id be shooting for it if i knew anything more than a few adb commands..

[Q] What's happeneing with the bootloader?

What the situation with the Atrix bootloader? Has it been opened/cracked yet?
Sorry to start a new thread but all the existing bootloader related threads are a few months old now... I know Motorola made a few statements a few months back... but I cant find anything solid to go on.
This might be the deal breaker between the Atrix and the Galaxy S II which has just been given a UK release date of 1st May...
Can anyone clarify the situation for me?
Many thanks
Nothing is happening with it. Go with SGS2, pyramid, or g2x
i don't get why people keep making these threads. don't you think if something actually happens there would be an announcement?
He has a right to ask.
the devs are currently working on it
I won't give motorola my money again if this is how they want to be. Hopefully the wonderful devs will crack out soon.

Ouch.. That's gotta hurt..
Obviously it hasn't been cracked yet, but even a dev saying they are still optimistic at this point, would mean a lot. To the OP thanks for putting on the flame suit and asking what 99.9% of us were wondering.

Asked Motorola to release drivers and Kernel to get custom ICS. Please support me!

Dear friends,
Please support me at the Motorola Developers Forum, I've asked them to release the kernel and drivers so we can use on Cyanogenmod and other great mods.
We don't need Motorola, we just need their drivers!
Please post a reply supporting me in this post as well:
http://community.developer.motorola...rivers-and-kernel-for-the-ATRIX-4G/td-p/29518
people with an unlocked bootloader just need new kernels and driver. for Atrix user like me with a locked bootloader , we need an OTA :/

Oooooo "we don't need Motorola" not the best choice of words. That's all the incentive they need to not release a thing.
Try and spin it like this, "let's us make the most out of your amazing hardware."

That's not what I posted in the Motorola boards.
Done.
I don't know if there can be any impact, but better trying that doing nothing.
Let's squeeze Punit Soni!
Try and be courteous to Punit. He just got there and it's brave of him to even be responding publicly right now. With that said, he seems to be ignoring Atrix users in favor of Bionic users.

bootloader unlock verizon pixel

I just had my Verizon pixel RMA through Google with a refurbished phone. Skipped through the setup without sim card or wifi and the OEM unlock was greyed out. Figured I'd give up and just roll stock. Inserted my sim and set up. Just checked again for ****s and giggles and I can toggle the setting to unlock the bootloader. On 7.1.2.
So? Quick, turn off automatic updates then go and actually unlock the bootloader.

Verizon Bootloader Unlocked
Just got my Verizon Bootloader unlocked. Guy named Smail Amzdak did it. Got in contact with him on Facebook. He gave me instructions and address to pay $30 via Paypal and he did it all remotely. Took less than 5 minutes. The guy is honest and did a great job. Glad to have an Unlocked Bootloader again. :good::good:

I am supporting someone who can unlock a bootloader on a Verizon Pixel phone. He has figured out something that no one else has done. I don't mind paying someone for a service if it benefits you. Do you?

Yes, I mind....especially when you promote it by violating the XDA rules

I'm not trying to start any trouble. That is not what I came here for. I just wanted to let people know about this. I had to send in a Pixel phone back to Verizon that I had unlocked. I got back a phone that was bootloader locked and I thought I was done. I found this guy, from a post in this forum, and contacted him. I was skeptical at first, but I also wanted my bootloader unlocked so I took the risk. He did exactly as he said and now I'm happy. That is all. Sorry if that is against the rules.

I don't see him selling anything. Go look at the accessories part of the forums. Thousands of recommendations in there, just like this situation. It is not selling or trading, he is just saying it works and he thinks it will benefit other people. Leave it to the moderators to determine if posts follow the rules, they are looking I promise.

Well, not directly for the poster selling anything. But the guy he's speaking of has been banned already. I'm not try to moderate, but certainly don't want this fantastic forum to turn into a place for "pay for service" advertisement. Whether it's done directly or indirectly. My intent here to do my part of maintaining an informational pass of ideas. Sorry to anyone if I come across anything different. This forum here has been a place of solitude, information, and passing theories back and forth. Have a great weekend everyone!
Can someone clarify something for me? Does dePixel currently work on the Verizon Pixel xl with the April security patch? I've tried a few times to unlock my bootloader with no success but I've heard sometimes it works after a few tries. Am I wasting my time?

I don't think he is shady given the feedback that has shown up here from longtime XDA users. I got mine when dePixel was still working, but I would be comfortable with the method he is using. I just personally disagree with XDA becoming his personal advertisement space (even since he was banned for violation of XDA rules regarding using it for a for profit service).

Yeah, I voiced my concerns about this in the XL forums and basically got laughed at by some people. Just think turning rooting into a pay-to-play model and using the forums to advertise (he's not advertising, but plenty of people are for him) could be a slippery slop that could spell trouble.
But it sounds like the guy isn't shady. Just out to make money on the desperation of others.
