[Q] Any word on availability through Verizon corporate stores? - Xoom General

Trying to live a life where I don't have to give money to Best Buy. Saw that Verizon updated their Xoom page this weekend, but surprisingly still no order or pre-order information.
I'm assuming if I walk up on Thursday morning they'll have them, but stranger things have happened. Any word on Verizon corporate stores and their expected Xoom inventory?

Just called my local Verizon store, no one there knows if they'll get Xooms to sell on Thursday.

I've heard Verizon stores are only getting 2 or 3 units. This is all rumor at this point, but I do know that BB stores are only getting 5-10 units to sell with most being closer to 5.

I was at a Verizon corporate store in North Seattle yesterday. I asked if they were going to have Xooms on Thursday. The guy I ended up talking to would not come out and outright confirm it, but "highly recommended" I visit the store early on Thursday. Take that for what it's worth. I'm buying mine at Costco.

Its worth calling. Icalled my local VZW store today and asked if they were doing any presale on the Xoom. She said she would hold one for me and took my name and number. I'll be stopping by Thursday morning (opens at 7:30!) to pick mine up. If they end up not holding one for me, all is well, I have a pre-order in with Best Buy.
But, moral of the story, its worth calling and asking if they will put one on hold for you.

Looks like an early morning for me as well. There's a non-corporate store near me, so I'll also check in with the owner tonight. The small shops are usually pretty good about cutting deals, but they usually get stock after everyone else.

Yeah it does. I live downtown chicago, so there are 5ish stores within a couple miles of where I live and work. There is one that opens at 7 as well, but its a bit further a way.

Checked my store this am (Sac Cal) and they seemed to be barely aware of what I was talking about

They're telling me (harlingen, texas) that the 28th is when they'll make theirs available but that the tablets they'll have WILL have flash 10.2. I have no clue why the delay but the wait is gonna suck. He took my name and number and said he'd call me the 27th.

Rotten customer service, poorly informed apathetic sales staff and being forced to listen to a sales pitch for product protection plans which is laced with guilt and unfounded fear for most consumers.
Since there is no price advantage at Best Buy, why put up with the aggravation.

Corporate VZ stores will definitely have Xoom's available on the 24th.

Happy Xoom Eve everybody!

So, I know the release date is tomorrow, but what are the odds a retailer would sell them early? Does anybody on here work for a retailer and can confirm whether this is a soft release date or a hard release date?
I'd like to know if a store is selling them today so I can try to get one on my way home from work tonight.
Since it must be activated, they would get caught selling early. I think I might buy my accessories on Amazon. I'm rather pissed that BB isn't getting in screen protectors for a screen so big.

That's why I'm curious whether it's a soft or hard release date. A hard release date means that they retailer has a contractual agreement to not sell early and may be fined by the manufacturer. With a soft release date it's more about marketing and some of the stores really don't care if they sell early.
i ordered mine online and im still waiting for shipping confirmation. i may go to wirefly here in a bit and talk to customer service. they been pretty helpful so far. Last time when my droid x was suppose to ship, I went to customer service and they moved me up the list and sent it out right away because it was the day they got it.

While doing my pre-order I asked when I could come by and pick mine up, the sales associate wasn't sure and asked another. His response was "They'll definitely by here on the 24th, but maybe the 23rd, so you'll just need to call and ask." So I called just a bit ago, the lady was reading from something you could tell and said something to the effect of "Launch date for the XOOM is the 24th.." *mumble mumble* "do not release to customer until launch date". So if someone gets one today, they can count themselves lucky.

The people I talked to at Costco last night would probably sell them early if their inventory showed them, considering both stores thought I was talking about the Zune, then asked what the Xoom was. Of course, if you got past the Costco sales people, I'd assume the Verizon booth people would probably shoot you down when it came to activation.
I guess I'll jut have to wait 23 hours and take an early lunch tomorrow.
I spoke with the nearest VZ corporate-owned store, and as soon as I informed the rep that I managed a corporate account, she was very forthcoming with information.
The 24th is a 'hard' date, and she confirmed that they would have them in-store available for purchase. She was even kind enough to provide me with her direct number so that I can call ahead and she would have one ready for me.
Not bad, eh? I was going to order it online, but VZ isn't taking pre-orders (only BB it seems), so it won't be 'visible' online to order until tomorrow. Even though VZ has free overnight shipping, I'd rather just walk into a store and pick it up.
I'll compare online pricing with the store price, so I should get a decent deal on the Xoom.
damn looks like Wirefly's twitter misinformed me about processing on the 23rd so it looks like I will be getting a day after everyone picks it up from the store . Oh well at least Im getting it

So I go to check my order status at BB to see if it shipped late yesterday or last night and it says "Status - Back Ordered".
WTF!!!
Maybe I should just tell Sammy to go pound sand! I already have some concerns about them and their promises.
My order now says "Being fulfilled. Usually ships in 1-2 days."
Dang it - I was hoping to cancel and run down to BB store and look for stock.

Got an Email about 30 minutes ago saying that my order is ready for pickup. Can't wait to the store opens so I can go grab it!

Just looked and tried to do that and all stores within 50 miles of me here in SE FL say unavailable. I already cancelled my order also, oh well.

Turns out, if you just call up Customer support and ask nicely, they'll transfer your order to an in-store pickup location, and get priority over people who just ordered it last night/this morning.
Now thats customer service.

Interesting enough, when I call the local stores they have the 16G White version. Guess Samsung made lots of those.
Once the status says "Processing" customer service can't do anything. I tried this morning to have them transfer my order to a local store.
Good news is that I just got a confirmation e-mail that it just shipped, but now I have to wait for it to arrive instead of grabbing it from the store.
Thanks to substandard customer service, BB has lost my business. I called another store who also did not have the 32G version in stock but did notify me that they are showing the warehouse has units available if I wanted to do a store pickup. So I asked how could they have it in the warehouse and I get a back ordered status? The store customer service rep stated I should call the 888 number to find out. I did that and was abruptly told that the .com warehouse was different and they are obviously out of stock. So I tried to rationalize with her that why would BB take preorders and then not allocate units that they obviously have available. She states that "Sir I just told you that the .com uses a different warehouse". So I (with some sarcasm at this point) ask her if it is the same company. Well at no time did she offer to find one locally or go ahead and have one shipped to my local store and when I finally asked her if she could do that for me, I said never mind if I have to ask you to do that for me then I will just purchase from another business who values customer service. I assure you that at no time was I rude and only got sarcastic at the end of the conversation.

For me....Only Best Buy stores that have them are way too far away. Local ones don't have them and unknown when either, so its the luck of the draw as to where Samsung ships to and how many to even bother driving for one just to be disappointed in selling out.

I couldn't find any BB stores in the state of Massachusetts that had the 32gb version, so I went online.
Circuit City claims to have an order today/ship today policy on the 32gb version. I went ahead a tried it - we'll see. I did it from their website, not from Amazon, and had to call them to ask them to process the order now.
I didn't know circuit city even existed anymore.
Bummer about the horror stories. Not to make you feel bad, but I strolled into my local Best Buy about 15 minutes after opening today. No pre-order, no deposit, no nothing. Walked out with the 32GB Grey ... and they didn't charge me sales tax! That's a 9.75% (~$60) bonus!

Good to hear someone had a good experience. I don't feel bad just a little jealous I guess. I'm actually thinking about just getting the Iconia instead. I have had the xoom and transformer but returned them both. The xoom for a charging issue and I just never liked the feel of the transformer, maybe just a little to wide and I have larger than avg hands.
I suffered from the same back-order issue. I pre-ordered one for my wife when I first got the e-mail from Samsung on 6/6/2011. Now you would think with my last name being at the beginning of the alphabet and my order being placed so early that I would be a shoe-in to receive one.
WRONG! I didn't receive an e-mail or anything. I'm a Silver Rewards member because of my continued customer loyalty...yet you can't even let me know what's going on before hand so I can order elsewhere.
I called 3 stores, checked online, did a online chat with Best Buy employee Brenda, and then talked to 4 different people through customer support. I heard different answers each time but the same result. "It shows as back-ordered but that it will ship in 1-2 business days." From the stores I heard "We haven't received our shipments yet but the ones we're getting are for pre-orders." The last statement was obviously a lie because ship-to-store has not been an option for any of the local 10 Best Buy stores.
How does any of this make sense? Yes I could come up with some patchwork logic to calm myself but at the end of the day, it's horrible customer service. I was respectful to each person I talked to. I didn't even complain. I went online to cancel my order and then called back to make sure it was done.
I'll keep it real simple. Worked for Best Buy for roughly 2 1/2 years during my younger days. During high school and then when I was in college in Tucson.
I hate Best Buy. From their "non-commission" approach they have the sales associates present shoppers with to their TERRIBLE phone customer service, the place is nothing but horrible experiences. I have a Rewards Silver account with them as well. I've spent way too much money to care to calculate with them and they continue to suck. I've shifted my purchasing from Best Buy to Amazon and am now a Prime Member with them (have been for over a year).
To stay on point with the OP, I went to Best Buy on Camelback in Phoenix this morning to see if they had any in stock. The PCHO (PC / Home Office) and Mobile Phone in store reps both told me they didn't get any in nor did the rest of the state of AZ. The only way I could get a Galaxy Tab was through Best Buy.com. This was after roaming around both departments for 10-15 minutes waiting for a sales rep to approach me (or even see one that I could approach for help). All immediately after the store had opened. Non-knowledgable, unwilling to help anyone sales reps and terrible supervisor / management that could give two craps less about your experience and care about nothing other than you buying a Geek Squad extended service plans and taking advantage of their financing offers.
I'm not buying a Galaxy Tab at all now nor am I, for any reason, shopping at Best Buy any longer (not like it's a huge deal... their stores have been dwindling in the number of shoppers for the past two years).
At first thought it's nice to see that I am not alone, but it really is kinda of sad. I do hear lots of great things about Amazon and have purchased a couple of times through them, but i am still a little weary about online purchases. Not really rational since Amazon does in all regards appear to be very safe and easy even with respect to returns. So who knows maybe it is Amazon here I come!
Prime Membership is totally worth it if you shop on Amazon frequently. I do ALL of my Christmas shopping each year with them, never any hiccups. As a Prime member, you get FREE Two Day shipping on almost everything you buy along with no tax. It destroys whatever Best Buy offers these days. On new videogame releases, they are not only typically $5-10 cheaper, there is no tax and it arrives on the same day of release at my front door.

Ordered your GS3 from BB? I feel your pain, never gonna preorder from a 3rd party again. But if you have any info re: BB preorders, post it up here.
I gotta say, my whole reason for preordering through Best Buy was because they were the first to open for preorders. They started accepting preorders on 6.5.12, everyone else the following day, so I surmised that at best I'd get the phone slightly before everyone else or at worst the same time as AT&T. The sad truth is that although I preordered before 99% of the people here, I'll likely be one of the last to get the damn thing.
That being said, I'll never preorder though Best Buy again. They are as wildly uninformed as AT&T but when push comes to shove, BB gets pushed to the side as if somehow it's customers (who's money goes directly to AT&T just the same) aren't as important as those who preordered through AT&T direct. The one's who lose are us, the customers. Lesson learned. If I ever preorder a phone again, rest assured it will be direct from the carrier.
Sorry for the rant, just sucks to see so many people who preordered after I did get their phone, or at least shipping confirmation (with delivery eta 6.21.12) before I even know if my preorder is going to be filled on or before 6.21.12 as stated on my preorder receipt.
I preordered in a Best Buy store and have no reason to think I wont be able to pick my phone up tomorrow.

Morning shipments. Best buy does not do any inventory things at night. They will arrive in stores via UPS or FedEx.

Just went into my best buy store here in frisco, texas. When I arrived the salesman showed me an internal email they received that stated that the pre orders would be closer to july first before they would be filled.
As I was walking out the salesman called me back over to show me a new email they received that said the preorders would be fulfill tomorrow.
Bottomline, the store doesn't have a clue nor does the best buy home office.

Couple guys in the main Sprint pre-orders thread said they received calls from their local Best Buy telling them to expect a call around noon tomorrow to pick up their phone. They were both expecting shipments by tomorrow morning.

Anyone know if the Note II will be on sale at best buy tomorrow? I plan on buying the phone outright on my best buy card and getting the 13 month no interest and making payments.
I've already ordered the micro sim activation kit from the tmo website for .99 cents. $35 activation fee is waived if you do it online.
I tried calling best buy but of course the rep said she didn't know and to check back tomorrow. People on here are always more informed that people working at brick and mortar stores so I thought I'd ask. I've been looking online every day since they announced that it will be coming to tmobile.
Can't wait to get my hands on this device. I've been waiting what seems like years!

Sprint has announced that theirs would be available for purchase on the 25th, a few weeks ago? (or was it only 1 week... it's been so long waiting!)

My local Best Buy in Mountain View said that they will carry Sprint's Note 2 on launch day, but it's first come first serve basis.

As some friendly advice, have a backup plan just in case. When I worked there, sometimes we didn't get phones for a few weeks. Happened frequently with Verizon. They want exclusivity for a week or two.

I'm in the same boat, but make sure you do BestBuy's price match thing because for example the Galaxy S3 from Verizon retail store is $599 while Bestbuy's price is $699. Also at some point closer to the holiday season BestBuy is suppose to match Amazon and other online retailers instead of just local retailers. Good luck

Well, the note 2 is at least listed on the best buy website but it looks like they are already sold out. Gonna call best buy when they open to see if they them in stock on a whim.

Tmobile Lost My G4!!! Or was it UPS!!!

Ordered it yesterday they shipped it overnight and I get a message today that UPS is trying to locate it. UPS and Tmobile are pointing fingers at each other. One company said they shipped it another one said they never picked up the package. Can You Guess Who Is Who? Took me 16 calls to tmobile for them to finally put in a lost item ticket and ship me another one over night. So now it'll be here on Monday!!! Maan I wanted to play with my new toy over the weekend. Good things come to those who wait I guess.:crying:

Last time this happened to me, TMO filed a ticket to just attempt to locate the phone... which took another two weeks.

I got boned by vzw. I did po on 27th (before it offically opened in 28) and they messed up my order somehow. By the time the reached out to me to fix it - it was after 3pm so mine did not go out like everyone else's so mine will come 1 maybe 2 days late now. It took 1,5hrs & 3 people to fix the issue. Why? Because I ordered & paid full retail and that threw all of vzw into a loop they couldn't rectify.
I did eek a $25 credit out of them for all of the hassle. So I suppose that is some consolation - but I'd rather have the phone Monday given my schedule.

Now companies do get us alot but take forever to fix their mistakes but the last T-Mobile rep really took care of me credited me back the overnight shipping cost and even waived the 60 tax for the phone itself so yes if I end up getting two on Monday I will return one. She will be the one that saved them from me being devious if i do get two phones because the first 15 reps that I spoke to (and I do mean 15) lied and told me it was )a. On the truck for delivery or )b. It was same day shipping and delivery (I knew that was a lie). So they will screw you if you let them or don't catch them. Consistency with them is key I guess.
I got mine next day, but the package was cut open....phone was in and sealed so all is well...the return shipping bubble bag for my note edge for jump was missing tho

I called customer care cause tge part in the instructions that said "failure to use enclosed bag may result in denial"... They said as long as the return label is used and phone well padded its ok, id suggest if anyone else has this issue and they use their own box to call CC and have them note on ur account

Right, like Verizon isn't screwing us when they took away our subsidized phones on unlimited data plans, which was one of the reasons we got that plan in the first place. Then you have other carriers that throttle data use after you sign up without being told about throttling. Believe me, carriers screw customers over all the time.
There is a huge difference between your two examples. T-Mobile likely has some sort of insurance for lost packages anyways.

I worked for Verizon as tech for 4 years and can tell you first hand they are greedy bastards. Their top management is rude and arrogant always competing for #1 positions at the cost of their employees and customers. I saw people get fired every month for bs stuff.
Also all they care is about the high earning customer who can pay that $500 a month cell bill and want to squeeze every last penny out of them. Sadly they do and get away with it and lock them in for 2 year contracts.

Everytime I order something like my g4 as I'm tracking the phone through ups I always fear that the phone will get lost or just not show up.... But it did. Wooo hooo. I took it up to BestBuy and some phone Stores to try to get a case for it. they're looking at me like WTF we ain't even got that phone yet how the hell if you get it.
