Data Speeds slower then N1 - Atrix 4G General

So I did some speed test right before i swapped the sim card to the Atrix from my Nexus one. I was getting abotu 2.4 atrix with teh APN settings from the posts and the default go at 1.2 and lower. And i have the H+ logo showing as well. Anyone esle?

I have seen the same as well. About 1.3 with my atrix and significantly higher with my nexus one although I never did a speed test.

Festaman,
Use the search before you post. We do not need yet another thread posted when there are already several ongoing threads discussing this issue. Use the search.
Thank you.

I have been reading/Search.
I have manual input my APN settings didnt really help. Has anyone been able to edit the build.prop?

Please help, usa tmobile hd2, no 1700 band either in settings or regestry

Just was checking some information since my phone seems to be running very slow in terms of internet and data sharing. I noticed that there is no setting at all for 1700mhz on my phone. Any ideas why?
Thank you all in advance

1700 is a band that it's programmed to use by default....what "settings" exactly are you looking to find/change?
Please do not open threads and then make the same posts in other threads (stuff like that will get you banned)
Your question was answered here:

1700 band.
The reason i had even looked at the settings, and the reg is that my data speeds are not all that great. And i was wondering of there was any way to improve upon that. Usually the best i can get is about .4Mb/s down and .05 up.
Today was the best i have gotten so far at .85 down and .09 up.
Even with .85 as an average of 3 tests the best download rate i have gotten is about 50-80k
Thanksin advance, and i apologize for the double posting.

There's really nothing you can do via reg to change the dl/ul speed of the phone when you're limited by the carrier and it's signal/infrastructure. .85Mbps is the avg for Tmobiles HSDPA so it sounds like you're in an area without HSDPA+. Once Tmobile upgrades your area to HSDPA+, it should improve.
The only thing that you can try and play with (and I doubt you'll see any improvements) is winmosettings>connections>connections>advanced>select networks> edit tmobile data/internet and change the access point name to one of the other ones (epc.tmobile.com, wap.voicestream.com, internet2.voicestream.com)

Anyone else having horrible 3g download speeds?

Recently i have been getting download speeds of about 13-70kb/s. My upload is fine averaging 800kb/s. This all is really odd since i live in a city and usually get around 1500kb down. I have the 60668 prl and the most recent radio. Im running baked snacks with his 2nd fps fix kernel. I dont see where the problem could be. Please help me out thanks
my old Touch Pro brick would average 120KB/s on 3G (STABLE), and now my Evo is barely doing 5KB/s to 10KB/s (VERY UNSTABLE). those 5 to 10 were what I was getting with 1x with Touch Pro. conslusion = Evo has no EVDO? lol, i know it does but the numbers do make you think. i mean, 5KB/s is friggin 1990's DIAL-UP!
There is something jacked with the Evo radios...
I had Sprint reactivate my Touch Pro 2 and using the exact same Home Agent I got 1600kbps last night on the exact same tower that my Evo got 700 off of.
I have never seen my Evo pass 1Mbps... it hits 950 tops. My Touch Pro 2 will pull up to 2.4 - I've seen it myself.
Oh and the upload on the TP2 was 380 compared to 190 on my Evo.
Something is definitely up...
At first I used to get good speeds... and now ive tried 2 dif radios and like you said, its ****ing dialup!! i tried to look in my dialer codes to change some stuff around but they wouldnt even work. this suuucks. I'm in the middle of the sf bay area which needs to get 4g soon and 3g should be fixed... I don't understand haha
when doing wired tethering on Touch Pro, i used the HTC USB Modem driver and simply set up a dialup connection in windows through that modem to #777. one trick i found that maximized the speeds was setting maximum bps to 921600bps (900Kbps) in modem configuration. this way i was pulling very stable 110KB/s downloads with very small latencies...
is there such thing for Android that would allow me to use HTC as a modem? not internet sharing, usb nic, but usb MODEM?
I did some tething tests last night, and started out with real downloads at 60k a second. Over time going up to near 300 and stabalizing around 150 when i stopped.

I used to get 150KB/sec or more with Internet Sharing...
From what I've heard/read, it's not the radio itself, but it seems to have to do with the PRI (note: not PRL)... most fully rooted phones end up with 1.34 instead of 1.40 and as of yet no one seems to know how to get it back to 1.40 (other than flashing w/ an official RUU, which un-roots you, and from what I've seen even that doesn't always work)... I personally have not seen any difference in my 3G speeds in my area... my guess is, that just like a PRL, your performance will differ based on your coverage area...

ANYONE that went to the engineering build (read: NAND unlocked) is stuck on the 1.34 PRI until it gets updated or someone patches it somehow.
I'm still in the "it doesn't make a difference and this is all placebo" camp though.
I'm consistently getting between 1.5-2.2mb download speeds with 3g and I'm fully rooted.

Data Throttling Governor Removal

Ok, just for S's & G's ... I decided to try the data throttling removal zip Myn provided with RLS5. Now in my area I've had speeds as high as 8mb DL, but generally hover around 1.5mb. Not really what I expect from "blazing fast 4G" lol.
So I ran about 30 speed tests before I installed the removal zip. They all looked very similar to this. (No links = FAIL)
1.75mb DL & 0.45mb UL
I installed the zip file and ran another 30 or so tests. They all looked very similar to this. (FAIL again!)
3.45mb DL & 0.90mb UL
I did this between the hours of 8pm and 9pm, why service really starts to get laggy. It still can't eat a Twinkie faster than a fat girl... but I'll take what I can get.
Anyone else using this??
Where did you get this? Can you post it for download? Will it only work on his roms?

AFAIK, it'll only work on RLS5, but if the services.jar is unchanged between Sense ROMs, then it should work on others. Just take a Nandroid and try it yourself.
Sorry to say this has been proven to do nothing on Sprint.

SO FAR, THIS HAS ONLY BEEN KNOWN TO WORK ON T-MOBILE USA AND CANADA BELL... ALL OTHER CARRIERS SEEM TO HAVE THESE FILES JUST BECAUSE IT'S A STANDARD IN ANDROID 2.2.1 AND SEEM TO BE CONTROLLED COMPLETELY OTA UNLIKE TMOBILE AND BELL...

Any "throttling" or "governing" that Sprint does is server side.
Glad your 4g is performing better as of late but removing those files didn't cause it.
I hate to be that guy... But couldnt you have used the search function and found the thread where this is being discussed already. Redundant threads clutter up the board and confuse people who want to know whats what.

Faster 3G Data speed +50% (editing Build.prop)

As stated in this thread (0 credit to me) for the inspire 4G:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982082
Editing the following build.prop values will increase the data speed:
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=14
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
Reboot twice.
Could be only coincidental but I went from D1.4MB/U1mb up to 3.8/1.7 MB up In the same place I always test.
If you try this don't forget to backup (device might not boot/loose connectivity) and write down the original values (I didn't haha), and don't forget also to post your experience. thanks
I'm using Typhoon CM7 2.5.4
Thanks Rob... This is really awesome... Worked great for me.. I went form around 1.5DL to 3.5DL
will this work for the hd2 or is it only for the inspire 4g?

Seems to work on my Tmo HD2, I'm running CM7.
yea i attempted this.... dkno how much of a difference it made for me, but before i did this i was averaging 2mbps downloads speed and uploading i was averaging 600 to 800kbps ..very consistently
after, im averaging from 1.6mbps upwards to 3.8mbps so it did something i guess but its not very consistent from what ive been seeing on my phone.. but ive only tested it for an hr or so...ill keep testing it for another day or two, go back to my original setup and see if it was a big difference or not.
let me know how it goes with anybody else that has attempted this
Great informations for a newb like me. Thanks
So how do we get to the point to change these values?

okay so i was taking a look on the link for inspire 4g post 3 and the guy provides great info -links- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11884971&postcount=3
Should we adjust the values for our non hspda+ device? the values oy 1st post(inspire 4g) did the trick for me. but probably we should adjust them to our hd2

Confirm improvement on HD2 CoreDroid DHD V1.5
Having now D3.5 U1.4
no good for me
I've lost the GPRS data connection after mod. And I need it cos in area where i live is not a good 3G/HSDPA coverage so most of the time I'm on GPRS.
So moding back to the original settings
thnx

HD2 class should dictate the build prop config. Speed tests have far too many variables to be reliable.
Gprs 12
Hspda 8
Hsupa 5
Hsxpa 2
Don't shoot me if I got the abbrevs wrong.
I get 3-4mb down 1.2-1.6 up connecting to servers 4000 miles away.
Sent from my HyperDroid powered HD2
Confirmed as working. On NexusHD2, I had to add the HSPDA and HSUPA lines, but all works as advertised after rebooting.
NOT WORKING FOR MY HD 2.
GPRS - 12
HSUPA - 10
HSDPA - 10
HSXPA - 2
That's my setting. The 12/8/5/2 or 12/14/7/3 just dont work for me and I've actually gotten worse data speed. I think it's location/cell tower/carrier dependent, so it might not yield the best result for all.

[Q] Does rom/kernel affect data speeds?

I installed liquidsmooth 4.0 some days earlier, i feel like i'm not getting data speeds as i used to get in stock ROM and kernel. Has the new ROM/kernel has affected it Or its just me.
If i tether connection from other phone using the same SIM i get higher data speeds about 1.5 times higher.

It might be an issue of the ROM not actually having a data connection when it says it does (data may be "broken" in the ROM, and only able to achieve a 3G connection while reporting 4G, and a 2G connection while reporting 3G, etc.).
This question should have been posted in the ROM development thread, and not in the Networking section. If it had been, the ROM developer, or other users, could either answer your question or post their experiences.

The data isn't broken but i don't get satisfactory data speeds. I mostly rely on 2g as my plan is 2g
definitely. Most custom kernels support different tcp/ip settings that you can mess around with. It can be time consuming, but so is almost anything on this site thats actually worth using. I tried this out last night, http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...mod-projct-mod-boost-nitro-x-edition-t2809443 I guess its a full package of tweaks that are pretty easy to use. I ended up uninstalling tho, and using the tweaks from my old ROM and putting them into the new one Im trying out. It did seem to work alright tho, but I didnt really give it enough time to really just say how much. good luck.
