MDA Pro crashing randomly when composing TXTS - Heeeelp plz!

I've had this problem for awhile now, and i was just thinking it was some 'quirk' with the T-mobile ROM, but recently i've installed the new ROM, and i'm getting the exact same problem, so i really am confused now :/
(I haven't installed any apps, or hacked the device in anyway btw)
Basically, i'll be composing a standard TXT, and the brightness on the screen will go to maximum (as if it's been plugged into charge) then when i come to pressing 'send' it does nothing. Then i close the messaging app, then whatever i try to load, it comes up with a 'this program is unsigned' error, all the txt on the screen does white, and basically everything looks screwed.
If i go into task manager and close the messaging app, then the screen goes back to its normal brightness, but the application errors still continue.
The only way to get around this, is by rebooting the device, but then once it's reloaded, it seems to randomly loose my latest TXTs/e-mails!
Really starting to annoy me now!
Does anyone have ANY Idea what might be causing this, or experienced this before?

OK and another thing ive noticed, when i go to the lock options, even if i type in an incorrect PIN, or even if i click 'ok' it just bypasses the lock screen! How s**t is that!
I've got no idea what's up with this phone, but i'm really pissed off with it now, i'm sending it to t-mobile for their engineers to look at, but im 99% sure that they'll run a few simple tests on it, and declare that it's totally fine, then send it back to me... GRRRRRRRR :evil:

mine too sometimes goes to full brightness while composing SMS. If u then switch off the phone(by power button), it comes up with a message box asking for driver. In the end, i hv to reboot the device.
And the poor part is that it doesnt happens all the times. This has started happening to since I have upgraded to latest imate ROM(I have O2 Exec). I had similar problem with the latest Qtekk ROM.
The only thing i d not installed was 'ms_.nbf' from both of the ROMs,which is actually represent the 'extended rom' of HTC devices.

Ahh, well i'm glad im not the only one!
I'm going to assume it's a hardware issue..... possibly..... because ive had the exact same problem on the past 2 t-mobile ROMs. So annoying :S

why dont u give a try to other ROMs like imate, qtekk. May be, you do away with this 'annoying' problem somehow

Well i've had problems with the past 2 T-mobile ROMs, so i'm thinking that it's not really an issue with the software.. but i really dont know. Have you fixed the problem, or are you still getting it?

today, i installed the latest qtekk rom with ms_.nbf(extended rom) stuff allowed to install.
Now, from past 2 days,this has not happened. yay
so far, so good

Hmmmm interesting
How frequently did you have the problem before? + can you keep me updated if you get the same problem again on this new ROM? Thanks

I used to suffer from this problem at least 2-3times a day. And it was very frustrating too.
Till now, not a single problem with latest qtekk ROM, FABULOUS is the word for it !!
No problem at all till now. Popper, you should give it a try now

Hmmm I might give that a go. Which ROM contains all the network setting information? Was that the "ms_.nbf" file you mentioned?

yes, its the ms_.nbf which contains the network settings. In other words, it the one, which represents the extended rom of your device

Well that crappy problem has happened again today, so in a minute im gonna install the latest QTEK ROM, fingers crossed

Setup Application (first boot)

Hi all,
I tried searching the forums for this particular weirdness but could find it.
I recieved my HD2 last week and had the crackling ear piece problem, with no help from T-Mobile i decided to flash the device with the latest HTC Rom it corrected the problem and everything is working fine.
There is one little thing i have noticed though which is weird, when booting the phone for the first time when it had the TMO rom it gave me a pre-setup application or firstboot application whatever you want to call it.
With the new HTC rom it doesnt give me this when i hard reset is this normal?
Thing is when i turn off the phone for a brief moment it shows the same setup application as running in the background?

switch teh phone into airplane mode and you should find the background app comes to teh front and you can complete it.

wouldn't a task manager allow you to switch to it?

Seems to be, yes. It's been reported several times by people going up to the HTC 1.66 roms.

HD2 - Latest Firmware update [HORRIBLE]

My 2 months old hd2 behaving very oddly after latest firmware update from T-mobile site.
Problems.
1. Tries to register to the tower every minute , can notice the ... near the signal bar.
2. Time doesnot get synced.
3. No calls recieved for 3 days, had 7 voice mails from friens screaming. No notification on the phone.
Taken it to the store,
1. They tried a new sim card, no use.
2. Master reset no use.
Store called the cusotmer care.
1. They would not put accross to the tech support because need to wait 2 hrs after replacing new sim card. What a b... (really controlling myself not to write nonsense here.)
2. Store guy tried to convience the customer care for 1 hour just to transfer line to tech support . no sucess . Ordered new phone for replacment. So no phone for me till they ship the new one.
Bought HD2 , believing windows 7 will be released soon , believe microsoft fired the top guy who running the programme.
Question.
1. How do i come out of the t-mobile contract.
2. can i switch to andriod or even stupid iphone.
I been having cell phone for the past 7-8 years , first time in life without phone for a week.
wondering HD2 dumb phone or dumb tmobile or me -dumb for chosing t-mobile ???

I would suggest you try either flashing back to the previous T-Mobile stock ROM, or to a different radio, that will probably make a big difference in your reception.
Also, did you do a hard reset immediately after flashing to the new ROM?
T-Mobile gives a 14-day buyer's remorse period to be able to return the phone, but you're obviously past that now, so the only way to get out of the contract is to pay the ETF (early term. fee).
As far as the iphone, you would have to buy one elsewhere and get it unlocked to work on T-Mobile's network, and even then you wouldn't get 3G on it.

I would first check the battery pins like samsamuel suggested, that might be the source of your batt issue now.
Then, I would first try a hard-reset as a fix for your original problems, and if that doesn't work then try a different radio.

I would just flash a custom rom to it. I use Kumars classic rom and my phones bullet proof. I don't ever need to reset or ever reboot it. I did find one bug and that was that the file explorer extenerder cab would hand if you tried to close it in task manager. So I just intal it if I need it which isnt' very often.

The battery pin is bent, waiting for T-mobile to ship the new phone.
Hopefully will install the custom rom and let you guys know.

Give the stock 2.13 a try with class 6 (or class 4 minimum) microsd card...I was all about custom ROM's with my android phone but I've had the HD2 for almost 3 months now and I have yet to try and flash a custom ROM. Why? Because the stock works really well. I've never gone this long without flashing a custom ROM...
I love my HD2. iPhone is not as good.

2.13. SUCKS!!!
Just wanted to let you know that ur lucky because since the update of 2.13 I've been having to restart my phone very often. I noticed before the update that when tring to send a message while receiveing one that my phone would freeze within the message screen. Now after the update no matter what once i'm receiving a message my whole phone freezes. It's a pain in the ass and tmobile programming team sucks!!!! Can someone please stare me in the direction of a good rom that I won't have this issue with and which is fast!!!! PLEASE!

having the same problem here,my answer was going back to stock and then i flashed an energy rom it freezes some times but not as often once or twice day

I have had Energy Rom (the "Unstable" ver) for months now and NEVER locked up. I have had to reboot the phone like once a week if it starts acting a little odd, but NEVER locked up. If your locking up this often, get a new phone under warrantee ASAP!

Gsm Elite Rom
Try my Gsm Elite Rom.
I will post on my site in about 1 hour 30 minutes.
(Just a cooked 2.13 rom with some fixes and demo games removed, mobil tv removed, ereader removed, etc.)
Runs solid.

[Q] Reboots and Startup failure w Edge on TMOUS

I just bought a Tmobile version (USA) HD2 and got it SIM unlocked to use on at&t.
This is what I did:
1. Installed the HSPL3.
2. Flashed to the latest radio 2.12.50.02_2
3. Installed various TMOUS compatible ROMs. On WM ROMs the phone works great. But my motive is to get android running smoothly.
Then I used two different SD cards to run various android versions. Froyo starts fine but only works good on WiFi. As soon as I insert the att SIM card, and the moment some download progress starts, the phone reboots after a few seconds. Not only reboot is a problem but also the phone cannot start and stuck in boot. I have to manually restart after taking the battery out for about 30secs.
I am posting this here because I have trying to use Android versions from this forum and the TMOUS forum. I believe this forum has more potential to solve my problem given the number of active members are more.
If you have a solution, please share.

Did u try switching to 2g only or in some builds GSM only hd2 wont work with at&t 3g.

Okay...for some reason i haven't had that reboot for a while...
however, now I have a different issue, the same shutdown/reboot happens when i open up Google maps..looks like downloading of any data on Google map is causing the problem again...
very frustrating...(

Roms, Radios and Android
I have tried several diff roms and radios with android and the best combo I have found is radio 2.07.50.27 with Core Cell v3 rom and this Android version, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545
For this version of Android all works except when you have wifi on and the phone goes to sleep it will occasionally get the black screen of death. If I turn wifi off before the phone goes to sleep, I have no issues.
Also I have used several diff Android builds with this rom/radio config with positive results.

I can't get data on my GSM, only via WiFi.
APN page in settings is totally blank. Nothing there. Is there a way to manually enter an APN?
I'm stumped.

Easy enough: Go to settings-->wireless and networks-->mobile networks-->access point names-->press menu and add tmobile or att apn ...or whichever network u are on

What happens when you are not on wifi, like GSM/Edge...do you experience sleep of death?

I'm using ATT and edge works no problem for me I'm using chuckyROM and mattc 1. 5. Full RAM w everything working fine

Nope it works fine with or without wifi.....IE... Edge works just fine and wifi works just fine. Again, the sod only occurs when wifi is left on, when the phone goes to sleep, and even then it only has happened a few times.

Did exactly as your config:
Radio, Task 29, Cell ROM, hard reset, Matt Android:
No problems on Wifi
Switched to Edge(att) and as soon as data download starts, the phone shuts down. It happens almost every time I turn the Google maps ON.

You are sure that this is not happening also under Windows Mobile?
For me, it did. Turned out to be a defective GSM/WCDMA chip and mainboard of the phone had to be replaced. The same for another forum member with a HD2.
Also, look over to the Desire forum. They have the same problem, and always, replacing the mainboard helped out. Seems to be either some kind of production fault or damage due to overheating (phone generally gets very hot when using EDGE/3G).

whoa...if thats the case...I am screwed I guess, If I don't have an att account will I be eligible for a warranty replacement. If somehow I can, do you know how and who should I call?

I got my HD2 from T-Mobile here in Germany. I just installed Stock-ROM an uninstalled HSPL, called up T-Mobile service and they gave me a replacement.
So I guess T-Mobile in the U.S. is doing it also that way. The other way would be to call HTC directly and describe them the problem and tell them you already have installed the most current ROM version and already did a hard-reset. Otherwise they will instruct you first to do this.

heating issues.

Hello. Am on pdateam wp7 7740 rom. I have realized that anytime I access the internet or do anything concerning internet connection the bottom part of my hd2 becomes very warm everytime. It sometimes makes it unable for charging. I want to know whether anyone is also experiencing this problem. And also how I can solve it. Thanks very much....

i to have had this problem. i did NOT have it with ANY rom prior to mango releases. i asked over a week ago if this problem had been addressed and/or fixed in recent releases and have not had any reply. after reading this i suppose the answer is no. as i said, i didn't have this problem with any pre-mango roms.
after i installed yuki & xbmod's 7720 zune updatable anytime i would stream say netflix or youtube for more than 10 minutes i would get the dreaded orange/green flashing led (read up real fast and found out it is an OVERHEAT notification)
one thing that i found is a slightly damp or very cold cloth on the back in the VERY hot area for just a few minutes will cool your leo down enough to start to charge again (leave the cold cloth on as long as you plan on charging after you get the overheat notification). i just love my baby to much to run the risk of burning it up so i went to android.
i REALLY miss WP7 but unless this is corrected or someone can tell me for sure i'll stick with android.
(if anyone knows if this has been resolved or knows a better workaround i'd really appreciate it as i detest the whole lengthy process of going between android to WP7)

whoops, didnt mean to thank you, ah well, have one on me
anyhow, the only time i get that heat issue is if i go crazy with wifi, day to day its fine, but if i start transfering 100s of MB of data it gets toasty!

Some one shld please help solve this problem.

have you tried messing about with different radios?
the reason some networks use different versions is because the settings suite some areas better than others.
Start with hardware radios as thats easy to change, then move to software radio starting with oldest, mango roms did have a newer software radiuo built in so that might be answer for you

I haven't had this issue since the first wave of roms released pre mango in January. Ever since mango this problem has been cleared up. I'm on BTTF rom 7740. Back on pre mango roms it would get so hot I could barely hold it. But now on Yuki & Xboxmods rom it NEVER heats up. Just my experience.

would you mind sharing what setup your running? because ive had quite the opposite experience ... pre-mango = no issues! mango (BTTF) = the above mentioned issue ...

well, hardware radio is what you used to flash when dealing with WM6.5, you can find all the radios in the HD2 wiki or 6.5 development forum, that is easy to flash as all you have to do is stick it in tricolour bootloader, and flash via your pc using the customRUU, typically these are named
2.12.50.02
2.14.50.04
2.15.50.14
there are a lot more than that, different areas will like different radios, trial and error is usually the only way to go, for example, you may lose the heat issue but lose signal as well, or perhaps your battery life will improve or drop like a rock
The software radio is something windows phone brought to us, as far as i can tell the only way to change that is via flashing WP7 again, you essentially swap out the part00.bin from the install folder and replace it with a different radio version
a quick search on the windows phone 7 HD2 stickys should find what your are looking for
but these radios are typically called
5.52.09.16
5.51T.09.29a
5.65.09.11a
again, there are a lot more than those ive lists, i think there are about 11 in total.

Read pdateam first thread again. he told you to change the radio and steps on how to change it. i never used v3 radio.. i told v2 radio into v3 no heating really.

3. To return to radio 5.51 (Change in the data.zip part00.bin)
