[REQ] THINK TANK Honeycomb ROM - Nexus S General

Honeycomb has been ported to the Desire HD! Proof and download link below!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959324
Is there any chance a dev could port this rom over for the Nexus S, not looking for it to be fully functional but would be good to play around with!

It should be, other DEV sections have [REQ] [THINK TANK]
Devs dont go looking in general section. And pretty much if they get moved there they will be overlooked.
But OP should change headline its little missleading

I would LOVE to try out HoneyComb on the Nexus S

I have posted here because it is development based, it isnt general information about the Nexus S, however i realised the title was misleading and have changed it! I hope this gets a lot of devs attention and someone much more able than myself manages to build a ROM!

I agree, I'd love to see it soon.

i would definitely give this an install if it gets ported

+1, I would love a honeycomb port as well.

I think the first step to get it to boot would be to make a boot.img with the ramdisk and kernel provided in the sdk..
Sent from my Nexus S

Yeah, I'd love to see this port also, Honeycomb seems really cool from the videos I've seen for far, it'd be awesome to have it running on my Nexus S

Iv also heard its been ported to the EVO 4G, really hopped MODs would have left this in the DEV section so it actually got noticed by the people with the ability to do something about it!

They should have left this in the developer section
Do none of the developers read the general section at all?

Honeycomb sdk port now available for the Nexus One

Wait 4 days until they asop 3.0 and it'll be easier.

You're probably right. Dollars to donuts one of our amazing devs will cook up a honeycomb ROM soon.

I don't see the point in HC on phones, if its aimed at Tablets with its UI interfaces and large Graphics, whats the point in having those OSK Arrows e.c.t
The only cool thing in HC is those animated backgrounds, apart from that thats it really.
I'd Rather see 2.3.3 running so we can mess about with NFC's and such, or 2.4 in late march.

The point is "waste time".
Everybody can see that the Honeycomb UI isn't good for smartphones.

id like to see it on nexus S :3

I really hope someone ports this soon. I'm pretty excited to just mess around with honeycomb even if its only an early version.

Amen brother. Unless you have an apk of this, and it might help development with android 2(Link to developing Google apps because of sync api commands in maps app? I don't know.) What I'm trying to say is...don't make a new thread if it has NOTHING TO TO WITH DEVELOPMENT. Thanks.
Seriously. DEV or GTFO.
I kind of disagree; I think this is important for the development section:
It could inspire developers to work a way into porting android 2.0 to G1. It may inspire some genius into converting the g1 into a multi OS system that can switch between a GPS NAV and a Phone, in a simple way “switch Rom”. I left it open without a comment because I rather for everyone to use his imagination and transform this into development!!!

I’m aware of that and the problems associated with porting 2.0, but I also believe in the XDA development Team. I would like to remind everyone where we have been and where are we now in terms of android, just imagine flashing back to stock RC 28 .
Just a note to OP, any dev that would even conjure doing this would more than likely look @ android.com or other android related sites with news and other articles just like you linked for us, granted you were trying to share what you have learned, it is completely irrelevant to this forum. Gladly take this thread to a "general"disscussion. Besides its still early look @ 2.0 and will be a bit before we see progress, and was hoping this thread meant somone was porting already, yet, to my dismay another off topic discussion that let my hopes fall to the bottomless pit of irony.

I'm just trying to say don't flame the guy.... it's not like he asked which is your favorite case in this forum =)
If/when I have a question about development I always ask here...... it seems like Q&A is more like reading the manual, not really mod or fw or rom questions. Please feel free to correct this if I am mistaken, but look at the threads in the q&a.....
Sometimes peeps are quick to throw stones.
By the way, I too hope this gets developed. But maybe a better question would be: "what can I (the collective us) do or how can I contribute in order to develop this?". Not just leave it to others. There are many ways to contribute:
READ, Learn to code, Contribute to your favorite developers monetarily, etc etc.
I think it is innovative. A phone app that can function like reason, fruityloops, protools... Mixing, autotune, live record. 5 years ago that would of been impossible. In 5 more it would of already of been done. The technology we hold in our hands is pretty amazing. IS it a phone? a camera? a router? supercomputer(they done this to a phone at MIT)
Yeah i may of wanted to have that on my phone but realistically , of course not.
To be honest it was a little slow today here(Zzzz) blah blah blah same questions 10000s of times over and over. I was just trying to get the creative juices flowing!! So we fix the lag and we have hsupa and froyo is here whats next. In the end Apps are what this is all about all the boring redundant lag fixes oc is just the hard work we go through to get to taste the icing! So thank you guys for doing all the hard work cause the icing is just going to be that much better...
Thanks

Seriously, man.. Relax. We all appreciate forum moderation but there no need to be harsh.
Speak to people in a manner that you'd ask to be spoken to.
There is enough talk around here about fixing the minor issues with the phone. I'd like to read talk about apps, ports, and dare I say it peripheral support. There is a discussion over at the vibrant forum about adding the camera for video calls and another about adding the camera externally via the usb port. I find that more interesting than fixing the gps that actually doesn't work bad while I'm driving.
It would be nice to see powerful music apps on android. The iphone has a pretty powerful amp modeler available for guitar, just an adapter and a pair of headphones and you have a practice amp in your pocket that actually sound really good.
If the question is why, the answer is because you can. These phones are crazy. 5 years ago I had friends with computers that weren't this fast. Hell my computer was only 1.7 ghz and. In 2 years I'd like to be able to replace my pc completely.

I'm going to jack my own thread. If you would like to post up anything relating to cool apps or concepts feel free.
How possible would it be to have windows running on Android and not the other way around. I know the hd2 can run these two fine operating systems in a dual boot. (picture included) Is it because the drivers have not been developed for WINDOWS??? It would seem easy obviously not. I would love to have windows 7 on this phone because after seeing this!!!! (picture included of the iphone) then i got to thinking that gaming on this would be awesome. The phone can be used as a screen cause it gay as hell to have to literally touch the screen to hit a virtual joystick or button. I know windows mobile 7 is going to have xbox 360 app of some sort, i dont know the extent of it. I know eventually they incorporate real 360 titles to be play on windows mobile phones. However I dont see why we couldn't in the future play mobile games with this very same concept done on the iphone a windows dual boot for the android OS. Seriously though if Microsoft plays this right they could dominant the phone market again and Personally i'm not a fan boy but i loved to play come mobile Call of duty on my dual boot android!!!!
Back to the original topic, aren't there alredy sequencers out for the android market?
That awesome looking groovebox one looks promising, But googling "android sequencers" brought up ULoop and ReLoop, which seem to be capable of making beats on the fly.
Unless I'm missing something here.
i wish beatmaker by intua could be ported to android

Are you a moderator? Hmmm...you are not. Report people and let the mods do the moderating. It seems like an interesting idea and it is a development question.
Im glad someone made this thread! I downloaded the Groovebox program (paid version, only $4.44 US) and its pretty cool but has a long way to go. Settings you declare in the mixer wont save when you save your song so you have to reset them next time you load it which is really annoying. Also, the drum kits all sound 90% the same, some have conga drums and such but overall they are all the same sound with minor effects added to them but with the paid version they say you get future updates so hopefully they will release some revamped kits and fix the save issues. Also, some new bass effects would be fun too.
Overall, its fun to mess around with but probably not worth buying till they come out with some more features for it. VERY basic right now.

Probably it won't.
Honeycomb was never meant for a mobile nor will be. I agree that HD2 has a mammoth screen compared to most phones on market but that doesn't make it anything near a tablet.
The source code of Honeycomb was not opensourced by google for the sole reason being people will hack it onto mobiles and wreak the user experience of android, though that's silly but true to a point.
Keep your eyes open for Android Ice cream - 4.0 (most probably) since 2.4 is supposedly reserved for GB.
Honeycomb can run on our devices but not as smooth and reliable as on Tablets because it's not meant to be on the HD2. Anw, wrong Topic man you should post in the questions area!

Is anybody, except the CM team, working on an AOSP rom for the Nook color?
This is the development section, not questions section. I'm personally working on it with the information available in the other ICS thread... but with my limited knowledge and resources I doubt it will amount to much but I hope to make at least a positive contribution.

Unless they say otherwise for this device, the fact that Cyanogen is working on CM9 (ICS) means they are working on it for the Nook Color.
I read somewhere about dalringin (the guy whose kernel is part of CM7 on NC) saying they've started work for ICS for Nook Color but the touchpad is their first priority.

Stop posting this link to the G1 over and over, it's completely irrelevant.
Wait a minute here if a low spec phone like the G1 can run ICS now thats very relevant and good news.
What really surprises me is that such an old device still has developers porting new roms... hmm I think you all know where I am going with this.
This thread is still clogged with useless tidbits of speculation... it is irrelevant because the g1 != nook color. Work is being done in the other thread. This section is not for discussion. This thread is absolutely useless here.
Please move thread mods.

i agree with pavlos.. this is relevant because it was just bringing a point that if a device with as little of memory as the G1 could be developed to carry ICS our NC have more than enough power and ability to run it.. I know there is more to it but that's where this thread was basically leading.. if there is going to be more than just CM9 for us...

Our Nooks will run ICS fine.
... it doesn't take a genius to know that we can run ics on a nook color. Any android device can run any android. Albeit very Soddy on some. However... the g1 running ics is still irrelevant to the nook running ics, both physically and and technically. The g1 is not the nook color end of story. I could care less if your microwave was running ice cream sandwich, its so damn irrelevant. This thread is hearsay all over.
This thread should be locked or moved
I agree that this speculation thread should be moved to the NC general section, and out of the android developer section.
But, come on guys, get a little more polite.
Nothing is FORCING you to continue to read this thread or respond to it.
Given the number of responses and reads of this thread, people are interested in the topic, even if it is speculation at this time.

Review: just installed ICS 4.0.3

I'm a novice user at best, and just installed cyanogen 9, 4.0.3 with no problems. The verdict, its amazing! Seriously amazing how much faster EVERYTHING is. Menu's FLY, programs seem to pop up faster, and I can switch between the easier. I have a few widgets on my home-screens that made sliding back and forth dificult, now its SOO SMOOTH. It's like having a new phone.
I've barely read about the new features, but what I like best is....
- The voice-to-text tool is really cool. It does it word by word as your talking. I could be wrong, but it feels more accurate, not sure if that has changed or not.
- The camera app is cool because as soon as you take a picture, you have the option to share it via different programs.
- did i mention its wicked fast?
just my thoughts. Thanks to all the hard-work from the dev's that made this possible. I appreciate everything you guys do, and really enjoy reading in this forum and around the community.
