For those of you that have been salivating for a RedFly... but couldn't justify $500...

wow, i never really took a good look @ redfly and only had a vague understanding of it. but after seeing what it does, and does not do...and considering that it doesn't have a HD or OS onboard, i'm not blown away that it actually cost 500 bucks. Even a cheap laptop or eeE/micro pc would be better than buying this at full price. but still good deal nonetheless. the 200 dollar price does make it much more attractive

wow. Ya know, decaf tastes just like the regular kind without all of those nasty side effects.
I didn't need another laptop... if you count the tilt, I already carry two with me whereever I go.
If I can eliminate one by adding a device the size and weight of a paperback... it is worth exploring.
I just received mine... and am typing on it right now. The keys are small... and I will have to try it for a couple of days before I make any long term decisions....
I would much prefer software to do this with, like mymobiler but with scaling abilities.
I already own a notebook and take it everywhere as well as my phone, so this product would fill my needs.

mymobiler is awesome...i love just charging my phone on my desk behind me, connecting through bluetooth, and typing/readings texts while on my comp.
One question... the internet.
Does Redfly allow you to see imbedded frames on the internet? I don't know if this limitation on the Tilt is caused by PIE or by the reported screen size.
If you goto the yahoo page, do you first get the "mobile" page or the real page?

I use Opera, so I can choose whether or not you get the mobile page.
However, it is just a screen device. If the Tilt doesn't see imbedded frames, neither will Redfly.
That, by the way, is my biggest complaint after the first 24 hours. That there is stuff that just can't be stretched or resolved.
Redfly doesn't understand SPB Mobile shell - one of my fav programs... or the latest version of Opera. It doesn't work on Skyfire. It doesn't understand games like, of all things, MONOPOLY because the screen can't be stretched.
It needs a "sizing" switch that allows a collapse to a regular form factor when necessary.

I use SOTI, and love it too.
I am hoping, though, for a life without carrying around a 6 pound laptop and charger just so I can see the same screen I would see if I looked at my phone.
That is the biggest benefit to Redfly... it ADDS to the real estate on the handheld so that you can increase fonts in things like Word, Excel and PP so that you can actually READ them. Far more map coverage on Google and Tom Tom navigators.

Again, Redfly does not add any functionality to your Tilt that wasn't already there.
However, your could print via bluetooth or plug in a flash drive and print directly from the printer.

I must admit that it's a cool device. For $200 is not that expensive... But for the price, I rather pay $100 extra and get myself an 8" laptop and do the same thing with it, but with an OS and better software.

I just bought one of these. its awsome for web browsing, typing, navigating and logmein it gets an F- at playing videos thats it biggest limitation. from what I read the software can be upgraded so I think its a good deal.
for $199 you could have bought one of those older laptop models that you can still find at clearence stores and you'd have 1000x better device LOL
Pentium or Celeron processor, real Windows XP or linux if you want , real laptop - I hope I don't need to state the differences between this and that crappy display enlargment for WinMo called RedFly

That's too bad. I'd really like to take this along to classes because my 14" laptop is too big. But my school's class-link sites depend on frames.
Therefore this Redfly is totally useless for me. If the next gen. WinMo has fully functional Internet Explorer on it (frames, flash, shockwave, youtubery) then I can see a use for the Redfly.
Until then...........
One note, the 1x6x9" size is utterly perfect! Why oh why can't there be a 8 hr+ XP laptop that size!!!!!!!

See, for that, I use "LogmeIn" to bring up the screen of my laptop on the Redfly.
I am all about carrying a "manpurse" that gives me full functionality.

My 1998 laptop (yes it is 10 years old *and* it is still working although I don't use it daily anymore, when it was new it lasted about 4+hrs on a single battery (it came with 2 spare ones):

So here is the boat I am swimming in. I jumped on the Xoom bandwagon when it was released. I immediately was fascinated with the tablet experience and enjoyed it. The Xoom certainly had its issues but was a very neat device. When I got word that the TF was coming out I jumped ship and bought a TF. Used it for a week and also liked it for the most part. However I was finding that productivity really lacked on all tablets on screen keyboard. Then I got my hands on a dock and the experience changed. Using the keyboard was infinately more productive and I found that from the day I first docked it I have yet to undock it (around a couple months now).
My problem is I basically just spent a ton of money on a netbook that isnt exactly a speed demon. Web browsing is often slow, updates have caused many issues, etc etc... The device still works but it feels like im playing with a toy instead of actually using the device as a tool. I enjoy Android but think it is very early in the game and it leaves allot to be desired. As I said at first i loved both devices but once the newness wears off you basically have a dumbed down netbook (in my opinion of course).
So now Im thinking about selling the TF as well and picking up one of the new Sandy Bridge Alienware M11x's. To be able to have an i7 processor, damn good video card, and best of all use all my programs in windows sounds like a breath of fresh air at this point.
I know tablets are meant to be stand alone but I never found a use for it for work purposes and the few times I did it was quite the let down. Again, dont read my words wrong. I like the device I just dont think it is good at being anything much more then a toy at this point.
After more thought the only real downside I see in switching is losing the touch screen. It is super nice to be able to just tap where you want to go but often on smaller links it would just pick the wrong one anyways.
So here I sit trying to figure if I should make the switch or not. I know im not comparing apples to apples hardware wise, but I am comparing portable device usefulness. Just curious if anyone has the same feelings or any further input before I make my decision.

Yep. I think people will be switching, and you should too.
The dock is addictive for productivity. Unless I tried it I would have not realized how much better is the experience. Yet, when reading a book I prefer only the tablet. This combination is awesome on the Transformer.

+1, and if anyone is that worried about selecting the wrong link by accident they can always use the mouse pointer via the trackpad. I've had no problem doing it this way and it's a big plus for the TF.
Sounds to me like you have no business owning a tablet and windows fits your needs. I'm glad you got that figured out.

I think the TF is perfect for his needs. The problem is, that this tablet HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS. This tablet is much slower than any tegra 2 tablet as there is no hardware acceleration! And the fact that there is light bleed, dock issues, battery issues, charging issues, sound issues, etc. Asus really screwed up..
Lets put things into perspective here...
The tablet is not a laptop, it can perform many functions of a laptop, but it is truly not one.
It does have a place in the field. I have found that for business, being able to show information instantly to partners without having to 'boot up' or 'plug in' is essential when I want to get a point across.
It is great for email, messaging, movies, light surfing, reading, and even playing some good casual games on.
The dock makes it appear to be more like a laptop, but again.. go back to my 2nd sentence, and do not put it in a category it does not belong in.
If I need to develop, I use my Alienware mx17-r2, if I need to demo products I have my Inspiron. If I need to take notes, read a quick email, show a slide deck / video, or just look something up real quick, I have my TF101.
So this is more about how you set your expectations above what a product is intended to do, and now have buyer's remorse because of it.
Sounds like you put expectations on the device geared towards what it is not. Go get a netbook or start hackin up the ROM and tailor it to your needs.

It's nice to know that I can undock it though.
Even as a netbook it is sleek...IPS screen...touchscreen. The interface is just nice for what it's meant to be...a light portable machine.
I can listen to music/pandora...type up some docs...play some games...browse some web...watch some movies....read some magazines...
Edit: oh yeah...I can mount it in my car and use it as a GPS....use yelp to find nearby food places then map a route to it...(yes this can be done on phone too)...but it's kind of cool.
It's kind of nice.

my issues havent been hardwre related, just update related. That being said I dont blame Asus for my particular concerns. Im still a TF fan but just think to achieve a broader gambut of ability at the same basic price point is the wise move. Obviously this is mainly due to me personally always using the dock.
Ironically on a side note I bought one of the first asus netbooks years ago and hated it after a month. Now Im finding myself wanting to use the TF daily, go figure....
And lastly I dont think I would have even looked at m11x if the performance on this thing was simply up to par...

Actually, the TF benchmarks very competitively against other Tegra 2 tablets. The only area where it's not (allegedly) hardware accelerated is in playing Flash videos in the browser.

That wouldn't be surprising. Even 5k would be less than 1% out there by now. I mean heck, last month alone they shipped out 400k didn't they?
I'm just curious - with tablets as popular as they are - and with nice big screens, do you think there is any chance Android will provide any sort of windowing system in the future (so you can see more than one app at a time)? I think that would be awesome on tablets...

There is always that onskreen thing that is being developed... i heard conflicting sides to why it's not available on android, but itsounds like google is trying to displace apple instead of overwhelming it by showing that tablets can be more than entertainment..
Hmm, haven't heard of Onskreen - I just looked it up and it looks awesome! Has any OEM actually used it yet?? It says that it IS for Andorid, from what I read!
Well, there are several reasons why onskreen cornerstone is having a hard time launching. But here are the main reasons.
(1) Onskreen wants to make a lot of money out of this. So, they want to go through the formal route of having google and tablet manufacturers incorporate this in the updates.
(2) Unfortunately for onskreen, google and tablet manufacturers are not convinced that people would want this feature on their tablets.
About #2, look at the success of the ipad and ipad 2. And you couldn't even multitask on the ipad. Yet, apple is selling them by the tens of millions. Google and android tablet manufacturers think people don't want multitasking on their tablets. These mega companies are trying to catch up to the ipad's success by tailing it. And that means copying how ipad works.
Last there was any info on the development of cornerstone, google and some manufacturers were making onskreen take surveys to prove that anyone at all would like this feature on their tablet. It's sad, really, that these mega companies are perfectly happy tailing apple instead of trying something new to beat it.
If my tablet had a twenty inch screen I would want Xmonad, never mind that. At 10.1 inches Android is good enough at multi-tasking. Maybe if Android overtakes Windows PC someday in the next billion years, we'll get windowing.

No way... imagine being able to watch a YouTube video while browsing Tapatalk. Or open GTalk while watching a movie. A tiling window manager for our TF would be really awesome. Not to mention I hook my TF up to a 24" monitor or 40+" TV for doing development work on (ConnectBot SSH'd into a VPS running vim), which would really really benefit from this.

+1 - my thoughts exactly!
Unfortunately it seems running eMMC Ubuntu is the only solution to this at the moment, and without hardware accel it's definitely not the quickest solution.
That being said, I run a full dev environment (with VPN) on my Transformer and it's incredibly convenient.
Also, battery life in Ubuntu is incredible! Surprisingly so for me anyway..

I am a _very_ heavy multi tasker and overloader, as in making my laptop want to halt and catch fire kind of multitasking. At a minimal we're talking code compiling, music streaming, and 3+ IM tabs. while surfing the web. If I have a 24" or 40+" to work with, I'll want them each arranged in tiles automatically like XMonad can.
Over the years I have used the following: 15", 19", 22" wide, 10.1" wide, and 15.4" or w/e the wide format is. Resolutions from SVGA to HD. You know what I found when I was using a 10.1" netbook? Most of the time ALT+TAB was more effective with so little screen space. Whether I was reading or writing, watching or chatting, there just wasn't enough screen screen space for more than 1 and 1/3 programs on a 10.1" at 1024x600. I'd rather ALT+TAB than use smaller windows. The TF101's resolution on the 15.x" laptop wasn't so much better, that I would expect the same resolution on 10.1" to be a serious improvement. To be honest I never notied that big a serious gain until I hit 1920x1080 on a 22" wide screen!!!
At work, I run tmux locally (it's like screen) and connect to dtach'd shells on the development server; at home I skip the SSH part. Chrome and Pidgin being the primary GUI needs that matter and corrisponding to Opera Mobile and IMO+jTalk on my TF101.
So I don't really miss adding the 20" Dell on my desktop to it most times. It is a short comming that I can't hook up my TF to my 22" wide at home and have xterm and chrome side by side, the way my netbook and laptop could, and being able to use xrandr to choose if I wanted a mirror or a second screen, or even to make the big screen the only screen. But hey, I can't really complain because most of the time I would just be filling it with a huge ass xterm. For most people that use a tiling wm, probably the same. Regular users have more need of it and regular users are not going to use their TF the way I do.
It was a nice to have feature not a requirement -- because if it was, I wouldn't have been using anything less mobile than my desktop PC to start with! I just don't need that to be productive...maybe if I spent my job in photoshop instead of vim, idk.
edit: if it was to a vote, I'd rather have better access to things like Chrome's debugging tools than multiple windows. Then I wouldn't need my workstation every now and then!

But remember - as with any windowing system, you would always have the option to run any app in full screen mode.... It would just be nice to have the option to view mutiple apps at once in certain situations... I don't see any drawbacks - just advantages!

Currently, I guess it's up to the app to determine if it stays open when going back to the home screen?? It just seems like I don't have the option to multitask all apps....

But... but... according to engadget the ipad is perfect at everything. Surely, the best, most powerful tablet in the world (personally created by St. Stephen and distributed by the Holy Apple Church) would be perfect at multitasking.

Too funny! I would like the option as well to view both programs similar to cascade in windows. The only thing close I have ever seen is the dual browser whcih is ok but obviously only for internet pages. I truly think android needs a couple more software iterations. However I also don't think eclipse would let u do half of a screen for example because they have specific dimensions and sizes built in. Much like compatibility mode, if the app could default to a smaller size then it could be possible but probably wouldn't look natural.

I can't really see the development efforts and the major headscrew for the user expirerence as being worth it until we have the Android PC where most people have a Dell or an eMachine on a desk. Maybe someday if Windows 8 flops but not today w/o a freaky fork of Android.
A great plus of Android to me, I have almost all the power my BSD and Linux based systems have, everything I need (personally) to be productive, some useful propritary apps I might not get with FreeBSD, plus it is so easy to use that my mother can use Gingerbread and Froyo. We have had computers for nearly 20 years and she has used Windows XP since 2001 ---- and still struggles with multiple windows, copying and pasting, browsing/saving files, etc. Holy crap, I think it took 7 years for her to stop asking me, "Left or right click". Google has done an awesome job IMHO.
That is just an awesome combo, plus I could probably use x forwarding/vnc magic and get a 1280x1080 GNU/Linux desktop on my big screen, and use a local VNC connection when getting up to go. Maybe even resize it after rather than scroll around. So I can technically have it if I wanted or needed it for productivity, just not with Android apps.
@the multitasking part, usually you can use the copy buffer as an accumulator when that happens. I tend to use Home or the "Multitasking" buttons / ALT+Tab depending on what I'm doing, and rarely have a problem unless I take too long to switch back or launch something memory intensive. Also another reason I switched from TexTab to Tablet Talk, hehe. Most apps that I use don't cause me troubles and those that do on occasion (TeamSpeak) wouldn't if designed properly for the life cycle of an Android application. Then there are some where the activity just dies out, like MoboPlayer lol.

Spidey, fact is, I'd get a lot of use out of a tiling wm on Android. I know we can go without it, certainly, that's why I'm still using my TF for development! The TF offers so many advantages over a traditional notebook that the loss is worth it, but that doesn't make it useless. There are many, many uses for it, especially for IM and video. I suppose we could probably get IM working with window fragments... I'll have to look into it for my #1 l33t IM app! Also tiling things like connectbot and the browser would be great, for so many reasons. It may not be perfect on such a small screen, but it would be useful most of the time.

Android sends a signal to an app when you leave it, telling it that you left. It sits there for a while, and if you don't enter it again for so long, Android sends it a destroy signal, and it's up to the author of the app to save the current state so it can be resumed next time it's opened. If it doesn't behave like this, then yea, it's because of the author of the app (or it's too complicated an app to save/restore the state... eg imagine a 3d game).

Thanks for the info! What I've been noticing thuough is that when I try to multitask certain apps, they wont even show in my recents list at all (like tthere is NO chance for multitasking...). From what your saying, it sounds like all apps shoudl be able to multitask to some point, but that's not what I'm seeing... I'm wondering if it's just an issue with the custom ROM/kernel I'm using...

Regardless, I would NEVER even think of switching back to Apple devices (gave the iPad to the wife) - Android really is so much more powerful!

The only time I've seen this happen is because of launching one app from another. eg if you click a web link within an app and it opens the browser, it won't show both the originating app *and* the browser for some reason, it only shows one (I forget which).

I never said it was useless but short of the Android PC on almost everyones desk, I don't see that happening; because I can understand why Google hasn't really done that. And I think we will just get refineme ts on what we already have for multi-tasking by Android 6.x.

This is most probmatic when one activity lauches another, for example openning a PDF in Polaris via Opera. I hope the mukti0tasking button gets better in ICS, since I need the dock to use the okd one.

I am considering on buying transformer tf101 with dock in a couple days, to replace my windows xp netbook.
I am planning on using it, on working with documents(words), creating slides(powerpoint) and presentation(connect it to vga projector). Accesing my email. Reading pdf. Using skype on the go(i guess i need the transformers with modem installed)
My questions are,
- user interface from xp to honeycomb (or ics), any simmilarities?
- should i root the device in order to upgrade to custom rom?
- if that the case which custom rom would you suggest for me?
- until now i always work my documents with microsoft office, so which office apps would you recommend me ? Since there are several out there.
- what about presentation with vga connector, any experience?
- how long does the battery last, without dock and with dock?

Similarities none.
Yes only if you want to I did because custom tf101 roms with custom kernels far surpassed stock in many aspects with honeycomb with ice cream sandwich there is alot to be done before they reach the same level.
Development is on going and icys is new so cant pick one at the moment to be all round better.
The tf101 and tf101g etc come with Polaris office which is good and reads MS Office docs but there are lots of options on the market comes down to preference.
Never tried it but I know you can wirelessly.
Its different between stock and custom but I can get 18hrs with dock probably 8-10 without depending on usage and settings.

Also if your keeping the xp netbook as a backup or plan to keep it try windows8 on it you may find abit of a speed boost and its compatible with all programs from xp to the last win7

IMHO any Tablet will not replace a WindowsXP notebook completely. When it comes to typing, even a Transformer with a keyboard, is not as good as a laptop with Windows or GNU/Linux. The Android Office applications are designed for the touch screen, and not for a keyboard use, which makes them painful for nominal editing with a mouse and regular keyboard.

Skype on the go is GREAT ! For just portable reading, a Tablet is far far far superior IMHO. BUT if you wish to reply, then a Tablet fails in comparison.

Again, IMHO you will be disappointed with the Interface. Don't do this to yourself. Keep your winXP. A Tablet can not compete here.

The Transformer has an HDMI output, and one can purchase an Asus HDMI to VGA adapter. I have done so and it works reasonably well, with the exception that it chops of the lower part of the Android display when projecting on the 'big screen'. That is a bit annoying, but as long as one keeps the projected material of interest on the top 80% of the screen it is not a problem.

It depends on your use. I drove an external projector continuous for about 8 hours and when the Transformer got down to about 20% battery I got nervous and plugged in the keyboard dock (which has a battery). And went for another couple of hours when our 10 hour work day was over. I still had battery power left.
I like my TF101 Transformer. I have ICS installed. I suffer from the reboot problem (with reboots once/day) IF I never switch OFF my transformer. But if I switch OFF my transformer a few times/day (when walking to work, when walking home from work, prior to going to bed at night) then I don't have the reboot problems. Asus are working on the reboot issue.

I think a TF101 with the dock is great for reading and sending emails. Much quicker than booting up a winxp machine, even from hibernation etc.
I use my Tablet primarily for reading pdf's, books, email, calendar and useful for all the available apps like google maps etc. I would definintely not buy one with the mindset for using office on it on the go, because it is no where near the standard of using Microsoft Office and probably won't be for a while. In saying that I use it quite a lot for word typing etc. anywhere there is a decent wifi hotspot as I use splashtop to remotely access my pc/laptop, and thus have access to all the programs on my windows pc, however you need a decent wifi connection for this to work well but when it does work well it is just like running windows on your tablet (if using the dock).

Polaris and Quick Office pro on par (with Polaris i have some saving probs, but it has a nice and quick interface - Quick Office is good with Googledocs and Dropbox, sometimes is has probs reading the right extensions). Third place: documents to go
You can use office for simple creating and editing. Writing a letter is no problem. Using open/libre office on linux/windows with mouse is way faster and easier.
Silverlight doesnt work properly: some things do work, some things don't. You have to find alternatives or 'workarounds'. For my work (teacher among other things) it replaces my netbook (with linux/windows) almost completely.
I love the silence, the coolness, the easy to pick up (still easier than a netbook), the battery (16+ hours with dock - so: no strings attached )
I think in the whole: my productivity jumped 15%+ (email, reporting, calendar, todo, making notes, individual instructions). pe when i write a note (i use Jotterpad HD a lot) i can send it way quicker than on a netbook (email, contactlist is under my finger). The intensity or quantity of communication jumped around 25%.

1. they are both... graphical? lol. Well thats pretty much where the similarities start and end
2. I dont think you have to, but Id recommend it to get a different recovery, which has a lot more options than the stock.
3. Youre gonna have to try them out yourself and see which fits you the best.
4. Alternatives to office? Remote Desktop from the tablet to a Windows PC. yeah...
5. Dont know.
6. My battery lasts anywhere between 6 and 10h usage, depending on load. Idle it would last around 5 days (note: IDLE, as in, no usage).
Thats without the dock. I dont have the dock so cant give any information about that.
But in short: A tablet cant really replace a windows machine. Well, when I say that it obviously depends on your needs.
When I get my dock my TF will replace my laptop, as I only use that to browse the web and watch some movies before going to sleep.
But if you are in need of the microsoft office tools, for example, your best option is to buy a 10" netbook instead, or if youre like me and can remote control a windows PC most of the time, then the tablet is a good option again.

Anyway, let me answer the OP in this way, i pretty much replaced my computer with the tablet for the following activities:
* media consumption (watching/downloading movies) little caveat of maximum of 720p. 1080p is hit or miss. I typically do HDMI out for this to my tv. it's excellent with dice player. i recently got a netflix account going. aside from the fact that there's nothing on netflix i really want to stream...the device works very well with the service.
* web browsing - not as quick as computer, but definitely a good experience. i tend to frequent media-heavy sites (flash videos, etc) and it manages to chug along.
* light document editing. again, touch screen is not the same as a mouse, and android, even with a mouse/touchpad, is just not designed to work with the input device. word processing, with the right app, is definitely doable. spreadsheets, and presentations...probably a bit much.
** get yourself a wireless printer (they've gotten cheap over the years) and an app called PrinterShare. very nice combo.
* games...oodles of fun

Coming from a Win XP netbook, you can expect a lot more performance on the TF with ICS.
Even better with the lastest custom ROMs.
Can't recommend a stable one because they are all still in development fase. Maybe Revolver 4 1.3.1 or ARHD 3.10.
You'll have to take some time to adapt, as Android has touchscreen based UI.
But overall you will have a much improved experience for sure.

i am planning to left my netbook at home and using it at backup, therefor no need the windows 8.
only use the tf101g on the go, without dock as document / email reader and with dock as to create documents.
kinda curious, what about using mouse on tf101?

. the main reason on considering the tf101 for me is to replace the netbook that i usually travel with. so you are suggesting that tf101 cannot replace my netbook for the heavy ms office work.
i wont suggest you to use android tablet for document editing.. its not that good yet.. you will be frustrated.. simple editing is ok, adding few words.. formatting not good.. document viewing is ok, though not really 100% the same as you see on microsoft office.. varies about 80-99%
other than that, it's cool..

i guess @oldcpu try to share the experience, replying to skype message on the go, so not the whole replying to emails. which i cannot image taping the 10' tf101 virtual keyboard on the go. .

about 80% and up. that's already good enough, i assume. .
For word processing, I think Kingsoft Office is closest to Microsoft Word, and Kingsoft Office is free to download from Google Play Store.
You definitely will want to use an actual keyboard though, so you can see more of the screen as opposed to having a virtual keyboard clog up a big block of it. You don't have to buy the ASUS keyboard attachment. Any standard Bluetooth keyboard works too, like this one.

anyway i saw this on offer at argos for 399.99 with dock, and was thinking of getting one, would you say its a suitable laptop replacement or should i get a standard laptop again?
i love android and am not a noob with it which is why i was looking at this haha will still try putting windows 8 on it though since i enjoy using photoshop and after effects but would be nice to have an android tablet to take on the train when im going on long jeorneys to see my dad

Its a great tablet but it really depends what you are using it for.
As a true laptop replacement, something you plan to use for work that requires third party programmes, it is just not realistic. I have found it has replaced my laptop in most situations that I would use my computer for entertainment (web browsing, youtube, videos etc), but for real work like data analysis, report writing, multiple monitors and true multitasking, my laptop gets the job done in half the time.
As for windows 8, definately dont buy this in the hope that you will be able to put windows 8 on it. I think the chances of that happening are close to zero. Ubuntu maybe, and remote desktop, yes, but native windows 8... i dont think that will ever happen.
All in all I would summarise by saying:
Tablet Pros:
Lightweight
Portable
No heat/moving parts
Insanely good battery life vs laptop
Detachable screen
Touch Screen
More enjoyable as an entertainment and media consumption device
Many games are more accessible, especially with touch screen controls.
Likely to be cheaper than a laptop
Laptop Pros:
Larger screen (for work)
Full OS means you will be much more productive
Most if not all of the advantages of a laptop come from the operating system so i wont expand on this.
It all comes down to one thing - what you want to be using it for.

I fully agree on this, I still use my laptop when I have to create more than just an email. For work the TF300T is only a benefit when it comes to reading a lot of documents. It saves time, for printing documents is not needed. Annotations however are a bit harder to make (as they involve typing on the tablet keyboard), but doable.
ok then brilliant thanks, see i do use it alot for graphic design but only when im out of the house sincei have a dedicated computer for that, other than that it will be for messing around on, playing games, youtube and web browsing so think i will have to get it btw wat do you think on the price?

i love my gfx and i love my tf300 but the 2 dont mix well lol, photoshop for android is a joke its nothing like the real version, but saying that do you know of any good gfx apps for android???
i dont know any at the moment since my only android is htc wildfire s lol not the best for much of anything haha, will try dual booting windows 8 if possible, then i can run windows for photoshop and android for everything else, will have a look for good gfx android apps though
