[app] Carhome 2.2.14 - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi there,
I've just flashed to CM7, and it looks like CarHome app from google is inaccessible from market in Poland/Play. So I take the one from my backup (thanks to QtADB team) It was downloaded yesterday on CM 6.1.1 and Market from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915746. For CM7 changing market for this from above thread doesn't do the trick :-(
For today is the newest version and work great with CM7.
-------
If your ROM doesn't have CarHomeLauncher.apk in /system/app you have to push it manually via adb in order to this app work correctly. I pulled CarHomeLauncher from VirtualMachine and pushed to my phone (now on Oxygen 1.0.4 ROM - which doesn't include it) and everything works great.
Again:
You need CarHomeLauncher.apk and CarHome.apk
Attached CarHomeLauncher is pulled from FROYO Virtual Machine, I don't know if it'll be work on Gingerbread ROMs

[Q] CM6 - No market...

I have recently flashed the latest CM6 release for HTC Hero. It is great apart from one MAJOR problem, there is no market app.
Is there a reason for this? or have I done something wrong
- did nandroid backup
- wiped data
- wiped dalvik
- wiped cache
- flashed (successfully)
- rebooted
Did you flash the google bits?
Same here.
I also just flashed CM6-RC3 and after flashing MDPI Google Apps (20100816) .zip file, I have Gmail and such but no Market and Home & Search buttons are not working either on Mytouch 3G (32B).

Check inside the googlebits zip if the market apk is included?
Yes MarketUpdater.apk is in that .zip file in fact the GoogleApp .zip files for CM5 and CM6 are identical but the Market only works for me in CM5. And since the Home & Search buttons don't work in CM6 either I am going to stick with CM5 for now.
It turns out...
for me at least, I should have used the "tiny" GoogleApps .zip file which could have been my problem. But a new CM6 ROM file showed up today without the -RC3 after it so using these two files I have the Market and my Home & Search buttons are now working in 2.2 Froyo on this Mytouch 3G (32B). Cool.

The file you're looking for is Vending.apk.

[TEST] Gingerbread Android Market (Works on CM build?)

Hey everyone, for those who haven't gotten the new market to work on CM builds yet, here's what I did:
I extracted the signed Vending.apk from Gingerbread AOSP. I then did the following:
adb shell
mv /system/app/Vending.apk /system/app/Vending.apk.old (to keep a backup)
exit
adb push Vending.apk /system/app/
Reboot phone.
I rebooted 3 times and it seems to work good. So for those who are getting FC's, please try this APK.
Also, if you still get FC's after this, please remember to clear market data in applications.
Good luck!
Yeah I am running the Build in my Sig and it is CM 6 based and the new market FC on me. I will try this and see, I don't have ADB at the moment so I will just use Root Explorer to move the .apk into System/App and then see if it works. Will post results
Still getting it, followed your steps 100%
running CM6 based mod (ShubCRAFT2.0)
Worked great for me, thanks! running a MIUI build btw.
does anyone have a download link to the old market?
im getting fc's on SuperRAM
Flan
Perfect! Thanks
Weird reply mechanism. Missing title, no context, but I will just past it all in and go for it.

Why did you make a backup of Vending.apk? If you already had Vending.apk why wasn't it working? Anyway this does not work for me.
I have two Nexus One phones: a T-Mobile locked phone running official Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) downloaded over the air, and an unlocked developer phone running my build of Android Gingerbread source code. And of course my Android build is missing lots of things like the Android Market.
I use my T-Mobile phone to pull missing stuff and push it to the locked phone. This seems perfect to me: pulling from official Gingerbread and pushing to my Gingerbread build.
But amazingly, I pulled Vending.apk and pushed it to my developer phone, and it does not work. I get no Android Market. It doesn't even show up, but when I use adb shell I can see it in /system/app. In terms of compatibility I couldn't have a more compatible approach. So why does this not work? Any ideas?

UPDATE: I've been away from xdadevelopers for about a year. I should have updated this post to say I wasn't installing gapps as a rountine for my ROM builds. When I did that I got Android Market (now Google Play). Thanks!

Netflix stopped working today? ?

Worked fine last night.
Still works on incredible.
It says I need new version
but it's not in market?
I have HTC Vision in build.prop
anyone know how to fix it?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I also used the htc vision fix.
I had the exact same problem last night. I opened netflix & couldn't use it, just got a message saying there was an update for the netflix app and I could not use the app till I downloaded the update. Clicking on the Ok button took me immediately to the update on the market, the screen where you can click to download the app.
Then the updated version of the app wouldn't work. Just an error message saying something like there is a problem with my netflix account, or my device has been deactivated at netflix.com.
I got it working again but had to try lots of things. I deleted the updated app, and tried restoring the older version from titanium backup, but got the same message about needing to install the update,& updated app gave same error message. Cruising around netflix.com website wasn't useful, my device (nc) hadn't been ' deactivated' as far as I could tell.
Side loading the netflix app didn't work. After I reloaded the old app ( titanium) a few times, & updated & rebooted a few times, i started getting stuff to play sound, but no picture. Then I discovered it will work perfectly after a reboot, but only for the very first thing you pick! After that it's just sound again, & i have to reboot again to watch something else!
Anybody else having a netflix issue?
[Solved] Netflix weirdness
It appears there is a new client version. 1.2.1 build 843839-1.2.0-30
I copied the apk from my Incredible (one of the supported phones),
and used Titanium Backup to uninstall, and Root Explorer to install
new apk. The new file is a little bigger, I guess it adds new supported
phones. The apk has the same file name but is a different file.
That fixed it for me.
I attached the apk (taken from my Incredible).
Interesting.....
I had the modified .apk which didn't need a prop.build change.
Of course, it died last night like the above threads state.
Wouldn't let me update it either as everytime I tried to install, it would error out...
But, I went an uninstalled the program (first deleteing cache) then found the program in the market and it installed with no problem....
It runs fine... no chipmunks.... nada....
Lucky I guess.... Running CM7 off the emmc on an overclock of 1200.

Woops, hit the thanks by accident I was trying to quote your post. So you didn't modify your build.prop and the updated client works without chipmunk voices? I'm running .32 CM7 after a restore to stock (was having issue with a later nightly) and when I downloaded the updated Netflix app it still gave me chipmunk voices until I edited build.prop again.
Are you running 7.0.x stable or one of the newer (.32) nightlies?
I am using CM7.0.3 - encore stable.
I also am using the ext4-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-042411 overclock set to 1200.
These are running from the internal. Not an SD card.
I have had zero issues with netflix.
The stable (and the .29 kernel nightlies) have no problems running Netflix now that device check has been disabled.
It's only the .32 installs (later nightlies and beta1) that have the chipmunk voice regardless of what Netflix client is used (and thus needs the build.prop mod)
Just to add to the conversation. The Netflix Market Update worked perfectly fine for me.
Nook 1.2.1, rooted.

Also running SD card Nookie Froyo 0.6.8, but I'm still getting the chipmunk effect with this APK :/
Worked for me on 2 versions of NF.
I did have to do the build.prop fix though.
I used HTC Vision.
This worked perfectly... Thanks so much!!!

Thanks that worked for me.
I just updated to CM7 Nightly #93 via ROM Manager yesterday.
The only thing I had to do was update build.prop with the HTC Vision information to get it working again.
Rocking...
Edit: Just updated to #94 via ROM Manager, updated build.prop again, rebooted, and still working.
NOTE: I updated to most current version of CWM using ROM manager prior to CM7 update as well...
running rooted 1.2 with dalingrin's OC kernel --> was able to install and run netflix from market but had the chipmunk / fast forward feature... changed my build.prop with the HTC/Vision mod and all works great.
FYI, I was able to copy the latest apk from my Nexus One to the Nook Color, and Netflix is working again.
Can't get Netflix to work after update
I am at a total loss what to do. I updated my netflix app like it asked me to but now it lets me put my login info in (all red screen) and then I hang where it is a white screen with Netflix in a red bar at the top of my nook color. It never goes any farther than that and it used to work for me great before the update and I am doing the Vision HTC build prop thing and I have tried clearing data. Any thoughts. Thanks

Exact same thing just happened to me. But I actually got it to work after the update. Then today it suddenly started giving me the white screen with Netflix at the top. Arggg.
Ditto for me on my ManualRooted Nook; however, Netflix still works from my SD-based CM7. What are you guys running on?
What I am running
I am running on Manual nootered latest 4.5.25 and I am running the OC kernel from Dalingrin.
I have exactly the same problem. Running the same combo.
So far I've uninstalled, and re-installed, cleared dalvik cache, but nothing has made a difference.
Working one day, then broken.

Market Purchase Error Frustated??

Okay guys runnning tabooney 2.2 updated and everything was running ICS 3.2.0 market kept getting purchase error, so i went in and cleared data removed the my gmail in acct sync and same thing, reboot clear cache dalvik did a full reset flashed the again same issue. one step i havent successfully gotten to do was the place vending.apk thru a file manager. i have r/w permission and root using honeycomb manager and file es,. I even tryed flashing the market 3.1.6 thru cwm with a flashable zip found on xda but i cant find the link anymore. really need some help, finally i just gave up and downgraded back to 3.1hc then updated back to 3.2 thru acer. but i cant live without root now punning lightspeed rom but would like to be on tabooney again THANK!!!! im pretty good at using roms and terminal emu, but not familiar with adb push. but your best help would be awesome. i want to be able to use 3.2.0 ics but if i can get 3.1.6 ill be good with that also
Try to delete gmail account, clear market data them add gmail account and try to download again
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
me too running taboonay 2.1
i have this problem too - and it seems others have too according to the taboonay thread...there are quite a few solutions that have been posted including
- deleting your market gmail account and setting up a whole new one,
- downgrading to 1.0.28
- upgrading to 3.1.5/3.1.6
- installing apps thru the website
- updating the rom to 2.2
- downgrading back to 2.1
- wiping caches, reflashing etc
but nothing has worked for me unfortunately tho i havent reflashed (yet)
I see someone has posted a new market version 3.3.11 so i'm about to try that, so i'll let u know how it goes in a few ticks!!
ok, its working...for now
right, this is what i did -
backed up!
cleared market data via settings>manage apps, cache was already mt
rebooted
d/l 3.3.11 from here and installed.
now, after i opened it had to do the 'accept' thing and then tried to d/l a game. I got a dialogue asking which application i would like to use and the choices were:
a) com.google.android.finsky, or
b) com.android.vending
i wasn't sure which one so chose a) and got an error "device not compatible" turns out "finsky" was my original market 1.0.28, so -
used the shortcut for 3.3.11 and voila i'm all sweet, woohoo!!!!
i wouldnt be sure that this is "solved" but it is working - i also have 2 market
shortcuts in my apps list and both versions showing in root explore and titanium
unsure as to whether i can uninstall orig. market
but for the moment i think i'll leave things as they are good luck
I am on a 3.2 stock rom and have the same issue. I have tried some of those above mentioned solutions except changing rom and different market app (I am not rooted so I can't try that) and none worked.
I have sent an email to market support and they are looking to it. But I guess 4.0 will be here before they find a solution.

Usually I find the way to fix this problem is to replace vending.apk in your app folder with a compatible one. You need root to do this, as it involves deleting/renaming a file in the system.

Market 3.3.11

Just got the new Market OTA

I've yet to notice any problems. No FC's at least
Edit: Just installed an app, uninstalled it, and updated another one. Done a bunch of browsing. No problems found so far. Mine updated from 3.1.6 in case that matters.
Won't install for me, says package with same signature already installed. Tried uninstalling market but won't let me do that either.
I tried it, wouldn't update an app that was already installed, restored 3.1.5 and it worked right off. May try it again later...
Also working fine for me. Had to push it to my folder. Can do it using es file explorer
i just used root explorer, renamed to Vending.apk, deleted old vending, put this in /system/app then clicked and installed it,
havent run into a single FC or problem.
I just installed this. It went well and I didn't have to do anything special. Looks good so far, no fc's or any issues downloading/updating my apps. Running almost stock 3.2 by ezterry.
Thanks for the headsup!
It looks nice , much better then 3.2 market but on HC 3.2 it is laggy as hell and I tried it in my new rom and installes ok.
But , but , but , laggy and conflict with finsky.apk that is working together with default a500 market 1.0.28.
The 3.3.11market doesn't update my apps like it should and the only thing you can do is delete the finsky.apk to get rid of those conflicts , google maps don't update , superuser don't update.
So I stay with 1.028 market , better layout for me and no update problems.
Thank you for this! Works perfect.

I tried to install this and it went fine..but after installing it several of my games started to FC on me. Anybody have a clue why? Is it the cache that does it? Can I wipe the cache with CWM without erasing game data?
It stopped when I installed the original marked .apk again.
I've been running this release since I saw it on Engadget. It works but it definitely has it's glitches if you just install the apk in my case. (I don't have or want root).
First of all, the app descriptions don't show up. You see an icon and the 2 or 3 buttons (open, update, uninstall or open, uninstall).
Secondly, there are 2 market app icons now. The market that is originally on the A500, v. 1.0.28 or something like that and the new one.
I'm keeping the new one because I like the auto update setting as well as not having constant notifications for updates. But just keep this in mind IF you are simply going to install by running the apk. I've had absolutely no force closes and for me there' no market lag as others have stated.
