Chompsms - Cannot find font - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi,
For whatever reason my chomp constantly fc'd when opening a message.
I have reinstalled it and my backup is corrupt.
When im trying to customize it now, searching for custom fonts, it used to come up with a package called "Market" with a nice font I used.
I now cannot locate this at all. It was teh Storopia font.
I am not rooted, can anyone tell me a way of being able to locate this font again so I can use it in my messaging?
Thanks for your time.

non-sense messaging program

is it possible to run a non-sense messaging/mms program in a sense rom?
like the stock messaging program that comes in the cnayagenMod roms
is this possible?
while i like the sense things the stock message program in non-sense rom seems to be way faster than handcent or chompsms
I think so, google it. There was a apk floating around that could be installed through astro file manager.

any help on what to google? like the name of the particular .apk?
well the file on both AOSP and Sense roms is called "MMS.apk" But when I had my hero and searched for it, someone renamed it to "MMZ.apk." So you can try that, or you can try taking MMS.apk from an AOSP rom and pushing it to your phone. If you decide to do option 2, make sure that as soon as you do it you send yourself a text message, just to see if you can still receive them.

[Q] Rooting and why do we need to do this

Hello over the pass few days I have flashed the Android Nand Rom on my HTC HD2 T-mobile USA device. Now I would like to know if there is any way I can change the icons on my device?
When I had the CHT before Android I use to use icon changer and Csmi
which work GREAT is there a way for me to do the same with this build of Android?
I hear people talking about Rooting there devices but I don't fully understand this process do I need to Root to be able to customize my devices know? If rooting my device is what I need to do to accomplish customizing my icons please tell me how to do this and post any helpful links to download any files needed to complete the process.
Any help would be great at this point thanks so much you guys are the best
Most rom here are rooted, if not there is z4root.
Even it's rooted, it is not easy to change the icon like wm 6.5, you have to modify the apk file, but you can change the short cut icon easily (the icon that show on desktop, not the icon shows in app drawer)
Flashing MIUI ROM, that only easy way to change the icon in apps drawer that I knew, it change the icons thru theming, and you can modify the theme.

Hello yes I just found out I had Super User on my device but I still don't know how to use it. What is the apps drawer? and how do I go about changing the short cut icons. what and how to change the modify the apk fille also. sorry for all the questions. Thanks so much for your help
Use BetterCut or Folder Organizer can change the icon on your home screen but not in apps drawer.
I'm sure you don't want to use modify apk rout to change icon.
The easy way is flashing MIUI ROM.
Below is example of application drawer.
m using mdj cyanogenmod 7 v2.6...how do i check whether my phone is rooted or not..??
Open up a terminal app ('terminal emulator' on market for example) and type:
su
If you don't get any error msg'es, you're rooted.
Search for LauchnerPro (my fav.) or ADW Lauchner to get the possibility to easy change dock icons or shortcuts on homescreen.
if you want to change the icons shown in the app drawer you have to use e.g bettercut.

Mail Program keeps quitting.

Hi community! i have a little problem. since a few hours i am not able to open my drafts-folder anymore. if i choose folder->drafts my mail programm quits with following errormessage:
"The application Mail (process com.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
-- -so i was searching for a fix for this problem. one possible solution was to delete all data over application-manager (settings->manage applications->All->Mail->Clear Data).
it worked only as long as i saved another message in draftsfolder.
-- i also tried to use ROM Manager's option to "Fix Permissions". that worked a few times for other problem, but not this time.
-- i was using DL.DesireZ.v3.3.final.nand by dandiest and yesterday i flashed to new version 3.5. i thought my problem was gone, but its still there..
i dont know why this is happen even if i flashed a new version..
thanks for any suggestions
greetings
EDIT: excess message database over root:
Ok, i did it. i've found a *.db file in rootsystem. /data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases/mail.db
in this file is all you need. accounts, messages, settings etc.
with an explorer which is able to access root its possible to view and edit this file. i've got my message back (at least the content), now i will try to look what keeps my mailprogramm quitting.

How to deinstall HTC Skins?
i now know why this error happens to me. i now started gparted and formated my sdcard (fat and ext4) and flashed again< the error was gone. haha
so i started to set up my phone and reinstalled my applications. to be sure i tested every time i installed an application my drafts folder.
after install of a HTC Sense Skin called "rEVOlution" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801928 my mail programm brings the same error as before when i want to access drafts:
"The application Mail (process com.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
so for me this skin causing this error. i know have to know how to deinstall it?
edit: yes thats it. if i change back to default htc skin i am able to access drafts... weird.
solved
to remove the skin and get rid of this error (in this case) you have to delete following files and folder:
/data/data/com.htc.skin.revolution
/data/app/com.htc.skin.revolution-1.apk
then restart. done.

Assistance Needed With Custom Theme

Hello,
Quick inquiry with regards to a minor complication when attempting to flash a custom theme to a Sony Xperia X10.
The device has been rooted successfully and is currently running Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 v053.
I have attempted to flash a custom theme titled "Galaxy S for CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable". Everything functions perfectly thus far. Other then the fact that upon reboot an error messages specifies that Gmail has ceased unexpectedly.
The exact message displayed is quoted as "The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Although this message displays consistently upon each attempt to restart the program. Also automatically once the device initializes from a reboot or shutdown. The theme was flashed via xrecovery as custom zip. As per instructions "cmparts_ui.xml" was transferred to /sdcard/CMTheme and selected from the Tweaks menu.
(Thread referenced: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876600)
This problem did not occur originally when CM 6.1.3 was flashed. Would resolution be a matter of reflashing Cyanogenmod? or as simple as updating the application itself within the market? I can not locate any original files to flash back to the provided theme packaged with the most recent 6.1.3 mod and I can only surmise that doing so would resolve this issue.
Final note would be the process one would take to uninstall such custom themes. I've noticed deleting the .xml file from the sd card does remove it from the tweaks menu. However does this procedure ensure deletion of all associated files? Or is there a proper method to ensure complete removal is successfully accomplished?
Any feedback with respect to this particular theme including whether or not it would be necessarily recommended is much appreciated. This wouldn't be my first flash/root/modification or customization of a device. However this is my first Xperia X10. So I do want to make sure I am being as accurate as possible to avoid any future complications.
Thanks for everyones time and attention.
*Although on the plus side I'm able to transfer my contacts from a SIM card directly to the device with this current version of firmware. Such feature was greyed out in the menu initially
the theme probably has a custom gmail apk in it. which is either broken or incompatible with 6.1.3.
try opening wb's 6.1.3 with 7zip and pull the gmail.apk from that rom. copy it to your sd card, then use root explorer to copy it to /system/app. give it the correct permissions and reboot. problem should be fixed.
hello
thanks for your reply. your instructions sounded quite logical and i assumed id have no complications. i copied the app as per your instructions. overwrote the existing entry when prompted. however upon reboot gmail has been removed off the home screen.
attempting a manual install either within the system/app directory or through the sd card returns an unable to install error message.
ive gone ahead and downloaded the gmail app from the market. which thankfully does install. it is functioning and installs successfully to the device.
presumably anyone experiencing this same issue should download the app from the market very strange occurrence indeed.
my only other issue currently is the GPS functionality. switching on the gps displays no indicator within the toolbar. location based services seem not to pick up a location what so ever.
im hopeful this isnt a result of flashing this particular theme. any suggestions?
If you have flashed a framework etc for that theme (using xrec) it won't reverse if you delete that xml file in the sd card.
If you want to go back to original make a copy of that theme xrec and replace its apks with the apks from the ROMs xrec zip. Then flash it.
And if you want to use the theme and also the gmail apk look and feel (theme). Try replacing original gmail apks .png images, which are in drawable-hdpi etc. folders, with the themes gmail apk images.

after you copied to /system/app, did you change permissions?
the theme may not have a status_gps.png icon or, it's the same color as your status bar.
the app never requested a permission change. upon trying to start originally would just return error.
this was resolved by downloading directly from the market. my only issue now is what to do with the gps connectivity? as it does not seem to be returning a location. the only other thing ive noticed is the default camera app does not zoom.
im trying to assess whether any of this is a result of having changed the theme to the galaxy s cm 6.1 mentioned in the initial post, and how to go about fixing these issues to avoid having to flash back to the original cm6 stock theme.
** GPS has been fixed and is fully functional. Single issue remains with regards to camera not zooming what so ever. Although now attempting an upgrade to CM7. Thanks everyone

[Q] Flipfonts?

I had a lot of flipfonts that worked on my old SGS 3 LTE. But now that I have upgraded to the S5 most if not all of them has stopped working. Has others experienced this and possibly have a workaround or fix?

Download iFont from Google Play. Let's you use almost any fonts (like from Google, not just flipfonts).

Already tried that, and it didn't work. It still only replaced the font I was already using and didn't install it like an actual font I can chose from, which is what I want.

It doesn't for me. When I download a font I merely have the option to set it, which means it replaces the present font I have selected under font style. The second I change away from that, and back to it, the font I have set is lost and the "original" font is back. I can't install them since I don't seem to be able to determine where the files are saved so that I can move them to custom and try to install them that way around.
But do you know that by chance?

And you both have S5's?. My only option is to set it, which replaces the font I am already using. I cant install it and thus make it appear in the "font" app on the phone . And not even if I try to add the files via custom.
Are you using the free app or paid one?

I just tied iFont for the first time today with my S5.
In the free version, you can't create apks for custom fonts (which is the method that puts them in the font menu). I think I tried hitting 'set' on the custom menu and it gave me the donate nag screen as well.
It seems that the default method if you're rooted is to replace the system font. What I did though is deny root access using supersu, and then installing a font downloaded through the app used the apk/font menu method - that worked fine.
But, I ultimately wanted to install my own truetype fonts. Prior to iFont, I had tried a couple methods for packaging them into apks. I could install the apks, and see the fonts in the menu with previews, but if I selected them, they said they were unsupported. Used iFont (donate version) to make the apks from the same font files, and they worked!
Pay for ifont. It will create executable apk to install any font you desire.
