[Q] MagLdr Android SD Card Problems - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello guys.
I have a HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7 (on MagLdr 1.2).
I want to DualBoot Android AND WPH. Ive watched a tut on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTHRAUHZHlo
I did exactly the same and after that i took this Android DesireHD Built: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
It worked fine but android said, that there isnt a sd card in the device. Of course it is, cuz android boots from the sd card. When i remove my sd card, android freezes (of course). I tried to restart and i put the 512 MB data.img in the folder but there was the same problem again..
I tried it with an other card and i pushed the button "mount sd card"
and than it said "u can take out the sd card now" (or something like that)
Plz help me!

I am having the exact same problem. Have you found the problem/solution to it.
thanks.

you both update you magldr that should fix your issues.
so get newest radio, than flsh magldr 1.3
before you update make a complete backup!!
hope you both have the right partition layout on sd card.
(first partition must be fat32 second ext3 or ext4)
hope this helps.
for tut look at forums or pm me!!

Can someone describe the exact steps that are required to mount the SD card when the Android build is being run off the SD card using MAGLDR.

They are running Android from their SD card. It is not going to show a SD card being in the device because Android thinks the SD card is the device......

This will not help them at all, MAGLDR just serves as the bootloader for Android not the OS.
Allso you can not remove your SD card will booted into Android if you are using a SD card build it is running of the SD card not NAND.

So basically I cannot mount the SD card, no matter how it is formatted ?

I totally have this same problem. Neither WP7 or Droid will read the 16 GB card I'm using to run Droid. I think I'm using the DesireHD build also, maybe its that? I can probably see if changing it makes a difference.

I have the same problem. First time i installed WP7 and android, everything was working fine. Then i had to reset WP7 because it kept freezing, i followed the same steps again to dual boot with android and it booted fine but SD CARD is not mounted for some reason. I have tried 3 different android builds with same problem. Any help or tutorials?

This happened to me too with two SD cards. What I did was I run the Partition SD Card from AD Recovery. I forgot the partition layout, just find something that works for you. I was surprised that it has successfully created a partition...this erased everything so I needed to re-copy ROM files to SD card via Card Reader on my PC.
When I did it over, It finally worked. Am now running Sensation XL ROM.

magldr recgonises sd cards ?

Hi,
I have a question which need some advise. I am currently dual booting wp7 and android sd build. I use magldr to select boot from sd whenever i wanna use android. Btw, I swap btw 2 sd cards, 8gb each , one for wp7 and one for android.
I happened to find a spare sd card 8gb class 4 and thought would like to replace the android sd card which is only class 2, in hope of faster speed. I copied all the files from old sd card to the new class 4 and tries to boot via magldr as usual. However, i encounter this error which says kernel sd fails and thus cant boot. I insert old card back and it boots as normal.
So my question is does magldr recognises the new sd card and thus do not allow me to boot with the new sd card? Anyone knows and can advise ? Thanks
Btw, using mdj hd4.6 w/ wp7. 2.25 radio and magldr 1.12. thanks !!!

Cyanogen NAND on HD2 SD card trouble.

Hi, I recently flashed my 1st ROM, an Android rom to my HD2. I followed a guide in a recent edition of Micro Mart magazine. Everything went great & the rom is up & running, the only problem i'm having is with the SD card. I just get a notification saying 'SD card damaged'.
I've looked around on the forums & i've read numerous threads on SD card problems but I don't know which is relevant to my problem. The SD card works fine in other devices, just not on the Android rom. Im using the Cyanogen 'gpc_hd2_gingerbread_v1.7' NAND rom. Do i have to create an ext3 partition to get my SD card recognised?
Sorry for another SD card thread but this is my 1st time flash & Android rom so I really dont know about these ext partitions and how they are supposed to work!
Thanks for any advice in advance,
Tom
You might want to reformat your SD card. Get your SD card out and format it to fat32(important) using a card reader. Also make sure to backup your SD.
Try that.
Sorry I forgot to mention I tried it from a fresh format in windows, although I've read about the Panasonic formater so I could give that a go when I get home.
Yes you might want to reformat your SD card I suggest you use this software to format it. Also make sure you do a full wipe and format it using Fat 32.
One more thing is have you checked to see if your Android is mounting your SD card? When you boot your HD2 up and you see the Android lock screen appesr do you see it say preparing your SD card at the top of the screen?

Yes I remember seeing it saying preparing but then it just switches to the damaged notification. If I then select that, it brings up a box saying it may need to be formatted but selecting that doesn't seem to do anything, the damaged notification just stays there.
I've got it working. I followed the guide in this thread & it worked 1st time. Just follow it carefully and slowly

[Q] Dual boot android not mounting sd card?

Hello everyone,
Sorry kinda hit a brick wall and can't figure something out. I am dual booting my HD2 from T-Mobile with win phone 7 on nand and magldr sd builds of android. if I put in a sd card with only one partition and android will boot and run ok and android mounts the sd card and can use it.
If I use a sd card formated with one fat32 partition primary active and unknown for win 7 unkown unactive android will boot and not mount the sd card.
so android will run and operate fine but can't use anytnig of the SD card.
is this something wrong with the partitioning or just can't do with partitions now.
I was previouly able to do it before. Just leftphone for a while and came back after a update to Win phone 7 and after reinstalling everything and this is where I gotstuck now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Don't know if you figured it out yet, but here is what I think the problem is.
You need to set the android partition to active.
For additional help go to youtube and search wp7 android hd2.
You will find 96edwysMobile's two part video tutorial on how to do it.
Hope this helps.

[Q] After installing WP7 Rom - My SD is dead (both phone and PC)

Good day
i had working Dual boot OS with WP7 and android for the last 2 weeks on my HTC HD2 with 32Gb SanDisk MicroSD.
yesterday i wanted to make a new installation with other versions on the OS. So...
i formatted the SD card to New FAT32 and the PC recognize it well.
I went to install WP7 from there :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027
and after the installation the phone reboot and i did again hard reset for it to build up the partitions on the SD.
after the second boot the phone got stuck and i had to take the battery out in i wanted to start all over from the beginning.
when i went to format the SD again my Windows didn't find it nothing i did.
i i used all the partition application i know but nothing - no SD or dead sd.
i also installed Gparted and boot from the live cd but still no SD.
i installed original WM 6.5 - buy fuss what - still no SD installed.
i don't know what to do??????
i installed also android on hand and tried to format from the android but still - no SD installed.
is there some magic i can do?
or my SD is dead?
i hope i can fix it......
thanks
your SD card is locked.... BTTF lock card and that card not readable.... you must unlock card first... send unlock cab file to phone and after that you can format card (or use old Nokia phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242071)
if you want dual boot without worry about locking card, try use Pdaimatejam Rom or DFT UltraFruit
also you have video how to dual boot android and WP7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
Hi
you have to use "ultimate boot cd", boot on, find your sd card and format
hope this help
Thanks
cannot read sd card

magldr doesnt recognize my SD card

Hello there,
I have a HD2 with NAND Android up and running over MAGLDR.
I've noticed that Ubuntu can now be booted over MAGLDR and I have decided to give it a shoot, since it's easy enough to try.
I have done everything that has to be done, but the problem is when trying to boot over MAGLDR I get this message:
"k: zimage sd kernel open failed"
I do have the zImage and the initrd.gz in the root, also the linux folder.
I've tried going to Services > Boot options > AD SD to choose from where to boot, but it jumps back to main menu.
That's the problem and I'm guessing that MAGLDR doesn't recognize my SD card.
Btw, it's a Kingston 8gb formatted to FAT32 Primary.
I hope you guys can help a fellow HD2 owner out!
Is your recognising SD Card otherwise, other than MAGLDR?
I have faced a similar problem where neither WM6.5 or WP7 or MAGLDR or CLK detect the SD Card however it is detected by bootloader.. See link below

Hello,
it recognizes the SD card everywhere except in MAGLDR.
In the mean time I found a exact same thread like my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315808
Basically it tells me that my SD card just doesn't work with MAGLDR.
So, has anyone found a solution that doesn't involve buying a new SD card?

Unfortunately that thread is right, your SD isn't compatible with MAGLDR. I have the same problem with my Kingston 16GB class 4, so it appears to be something to do with Kingston cards. You should have received a Sandisk with your phone, which is enough if you want to use SD builds only to try ROMs out, but there isn't much you can do to sort it out I'm afraid.

Alright,
well that's kinda sad, tho I still thank you both for the info.
I'm having a similar issue with my 32gb Sandisk class 4 card. It used to work fine, but then Magldr stopped seeing the file structure for sd boot. With trial and error I used gparted to recreate a ms-dos partition table. Just now magldr sees the file structure again.

Was it this? If not, then would you be able to explain how you did it, please? I have the same issue so it would help. To be fair, I haven't really tried to resolve it properly yet, so it's probably an obvious solution which I missed.
It doesn't work once again...
Tho what I did to make it work is using "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition":
1.Delete the partition
2.Create Partition: set Primary, set Fat32, set allocation table to 32K
3.Apply
That's basically it, I copied all my files excluding the linux ubuntu I wanted to try over MAGLDR...
Next day I tried to select AD SD dir and it OPENED it up, I was amazed!
I then booted android, selected to copy over usb, copied over Linux(around 3.2GB).
I rebooted back in to MAGLDR, tried to select AD SD dir and the same problem occurred... :silly:
I have no clue what else can be the problem, I tried then deleting the Linux, because it worked without it, and again same problem...
So basically it stopped working after I connected the sd card over usb while on android to copy linux... from that moment I couldn't select AD SD dir any more, just jumps back to main menu.
I would like suggestions if anyone knows what might happen?
Was I lucky to just make AD SD dir working? Or was it the allocation table I mentioned that I changed to 32K?
EDIT:
I've been thinking...
Since my goal is to have an android NAND and a Ubuntu over SD, is that all possible if I switch the bootloader from MAGLDR to CLK?
I've never tried CLK, but I'm sure it boots Android NAND's just fine, but what about Ubuntu over SD? Does it have problems recognizing SD on CLK?
