[Q] HTC HD2 Update-Help (to 3.14.407.2) with SSPL ?! - HD2 General

Hello,
i have a HTC HD2 phone from vodafone.
a few months ago i did an update to the orgignal HTC ROM 1.66.407.1 (GER).
Now the mobile Windows is very slow and i want the new ROM 3.14.407.2 (GER).
I have downloaded the orginal ROM here (not the Vodafone ROM)
But when i want to update here stands that i dont have the permisson because it is a HTC from vodafone.
I had that problem a few months before, but i cant remeber how i did the update.
I dont want a Hard Flash, it if is possible. (i can remember that i flash it with SSPL (SLPL_RUU.exe, but i am not really sure.)
My SPL version ist 1.42
It is right that first i have to update the vodafone-ROM, because of the RADIO and ther SPL version, and then i can run the SPL_RUU.exe to update the orginal HTC ROM?
Furthermore i have read that many people have problems with the new 3.14 ROM
Thanx for your Help
(you can also answer in german )

Sorry, I cant speak German
You can't flash other stock rom which is not intended for your device series. But, you still can do it using GOLD CARD method. If you are interested, find in the threads using search button
Im not sure of flashing stock rom using SSPL, because I never do that (and I have no intention to try it )
To avoid any trouble, I would suggest you to find the CORRECT STOCK ROM, if your device is from VODAFONE, then go to VODAFONE website to find it whether there is update rom.
The problem reported by other users is because they have installed Stock ROM version 3.14 (which contains SPL 3.03.0000) using HSPL.
SPL 3.03 is incompatible with HSPL.
Cheers

thanks
But it is right that i have to flash the original Vodafone ROM ( to update the SPL and Radio) and then I can flash the original HTC ROM (not vodafone) with SSPL?
Is that right?
And after that, can I downgrade to maybe 1.66 with the same method when I have the New 3.14 ROM with SPL 3.03 and RADIO 2.15 ?

Sir (after your PM)
Flash your phone only with S/N 3.14 ROM
if it's Vodafone then flash with 3.14 Vodafone ROM
to get SPL 3.03 and HTC radio 2.15

ok thanks,
but i dont want the vodafone branded software/ROM.
Then i must flash again (after the vodafone ROM flash) the origianl non-branded HTC-HD2-ROM with SSLP right?
Then i have the newest radio and spl version from the vodafone-ROM and the non-branded software/OS from the original HTC-ROM right? (is the newest orginal ROM supported by SSLP? or can i flash the 3.14-ROM with SSLP?)
The last question -> can i always downgrade to (without SSLP/HSLP etc.) the original vodafone 1.66 or 1.72-ROM ? or it is not possible when i have newest SPL and Radio version?
Thansk a lot.
PS: The HTC is for my father for birthday.I want to give him the HTC as a gift and it should be with the original, newest and non-branded ROM/OS.
And for me it is important that i can easly can downgrade to the original vodafone-ROM.

You can always downgrade it by flashing the older CORRECT STOCK ROM using Micro SD Card method. If you flash with UNCORRECT STOCK ROM, you might get into trouble (it wont flash), unless you have a GOLD CARD.
All STOCK ROM contains SPL. Once you flash it via Micro SD, then your HSPL or SPL will be replaced with the SPL contains in the rom.
Be careful

Need Help Flashing Back to SPL 1.42

Hello all,
I recently purchased HD2, the first thing I did was going to HTC website and downloaded the latest ROM Version: 1.66.415.3, now my SPL version is 1.66000 XE. I searched the forum before posting this thread, but I did not find a clear post that answers my questions, and I am still a newbie in modding field, so please bare with me.
This ROM includes Arabic language support which I need, but its quite bugged, in away that most of the menus are in Arabic now, and even though I chose from the settings to have them in English, even disabling multi-language support wouldn't change the menus to English and they still are in Arabic.
More over some bugs, like the Arabic supported Keyboard will always play a very high click sounds, even if I reduce the volume, put it on Silent or Vibration, everything will be silent except for the Arabic Keyboard would still play the clicks.
So i thought there must be a fix for it, and the best possible way to do it in my opinion is Via installing HSPL, now the problem is I can no where find how I am able to Roll back to SPL 1.42 so that I can install HSPL, since i have SPL 1.66, So my question is, Does anyone know how and where can I roll back to SPL 1.42 so that I can install HSPL ?
My second question, Is there any Custom Rom that have full Arabic support meaning I can type and read Arabic Websites/Messeging/Email/MMS and such ? I saw Seatone's ROM that indicates Arabic Support, but I cant find anywhere to what extent it is ?
My third question is after rolling back to SPL 1.42 from SPL 1.66 and installing HSPL (assuming that this process is possible), Can I update to Newer SPL and still have HSPL installed ? or I would have to remove the HSPL in order to update my SPL ?
My last question is regarding RADIOS, can I install multiple RADIOS or I can only have one installed at a time ? Also for Backing up my ROM on my device (assuming I dont have the software on the PC), how do I do it ?
Eventually thanks for your time and consideration to help me in this matter, looking forward to hear some answers !!
All the official roms can be download here.

once download, I think you can just follow the procedures for removing HSPL to put it back to a standard factory state.
Thanks for the reply, but i think you got me wrong.
I dont have HSPL on my device currently, I have Factory SPL version 1.66, I want to install HSPL, but in order to do so I need SPL 1.42, the link you provided only includes SPL 1.43 ... and from what I read I HAVE to HAVE SPL 1.42 in order to install HSPL, please correct me if I am wrong ?

Help
Good Night.
I have a HTC HD2 with the 1.66.0000 XE SPL, and with the following ROM "RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship"
Because i update the ROM from the HTC Website, and it gave me that ROM, after i update it i notice that it is in NLD (Nederland), now i want to install other ROM and i Can't.
I want to do HSPL but to do that i need the SPL-1.42.000, to have that SPL i have tried to install other ROMS, but it had failed all the times with the following Error ("ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDOR ID ").
Need some help with this, because e don't understand NLD (LOL), and i want to install a PTG ROM.
.
Can anyone give me a hand? I have Telstra HD2 using on ATT in the U.S. and flashed to this ROM
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship
When I check the bootloader it says
SPL-1.42.HSPL
However when I try to HSPL it says.
You must have SPL 1.42.0000 and errors out. I read that if I flash any shipped OEM ROM it'll put it back to 1.42.0000 but it doesn't appear to be doing that.
Any help would be appreciated I'm trying to get any HSPL on this thing. I've also tried HSPL2 to no avail. It said bad ID or something.
Thank you in advance.

There are NO 1.43 roms that will work on your tmous, you WILL permanently destroy it if you do manage to flash one. The tmous will ONLY take roms version 2.x or higher
you are very lucky that you dont have hspl installed, else it would let you flash, and your phone would be dead.
So what do we do if we have tmous and want to install HSPL?

Vodafone NL branded rom (1.72)

Updated2: There has been an ROM update from HTC itself. See this post.
Hi,
I need to send my Vodafone NLD branded* HTC HD2 in for repairs (see this thread). Problem is I've HSPL'ed it and installed a newer unbranded rom -1.48.404.2 (71294) NLD with radio 2.06.51.07-, still wanted to upgrade to a newer ROM bud didn't bother because everything worked fine and I had to erase everything. 'T was the newest when I got the HD2...
I only did this because the unbranded ROM was stuck at 1.43 (and still is!)
So, does anyone know where I can find the official branded Vodafone NL 1.43 (or newer!) rom so I can restore my SPL with a MicroSD card flash?
Alternatively, does anyone know either:
Another solution/suggestion?
How I can create a goldcard (I won't mind to pay a few bucks) which will restore the SPL and will restore the ROM to a version that has a high/99,9% chance to fool the repair centre?
Know how I can dump a ROM of a HD2? (I couldn't find it anywhere). I might be able to find someone who has a branded Vodafone NL HD2 and didn't "hack" it. I could then dump the rom and use it to flash my device. Ofcourse if that is succesful I'll also make the ROM available for download!
Any help found be appreciated!
* Actually its pretty stupid they branded it, they even promised they wouldn't do it anymore. The only change I could detect was the Vodafone logo and sound that was visible during boot (instead of the normal HTC screen with ROM info etc.)
[edit]
To clarify: this is about a branded Dutch version by Vodafone (NL branch). If you have Vodafone UK or ordered the English version from Vodafone NL (which is exactly the same as the Vodafone UK version) you can use one of these roms:
Vodafone UK Official signed 1.43 (origional ROM)
Vodafone UK Official signed 1.66) (1.66 ROM released on 22 Feb 2010)
Hmm if this is correct I could do what I want with a goldcard right? I would create a goldcard with the official unbranded 1.43 ROM and restore the origional SPL, radio and ROM. Thus the only difference they would notice is the unbranded ROM/OS/Splashscreen, but if I'm correct they mainly check if a HSPL is installed right?

I think this should work. Will it fool Vodafone?
Okay, so I found webpatrick who was willing to dump his ROM
But how do I now make a flashable rom out of it? (e.g. the standard flashable .exe installer or a flashable leoimg.nbh)
I've found some information on how to do it (for thopaz and rhodium), but I can't get it clear enough for me to work.
So to clarify, I would like
1. As close to the origional as possible
2. At least the origional SPL (1.42 I think)
3. Splashscreen would be a pré
3. OS Rom would be fine, but I think it is 100% the same from the official HTC
4. Radio doesn't really matter to me, but to get the origional I would like it
Can anyone help me make it or make it for me?

Ow cmon, with all the ROM builders out there there must be someone who knows?
I see you got started...
Maybe good good to know HSPL2 is out, now it can revert to original SPL, so maybe bepe can help you reverting to NLD Vodafone SPL.
edit: Sorry the release notes say that you can only flash an original SPL using an official ROM.
I saw it, and it's good news. The only thing I'd like is the vodafone splash screen back, which is in te ROM. Otherwise I'm just going to return it saturdat with the SPL reverted to 1.42 through HSPL2
Startup Shutdown Animations
Here are the Startup and Shutdown Animation files + reg settings.
Official Vodafone NLD ROM finally here

To be honest im glad i got my HD2 before it was officially available in the Netherlands, if i break it, i can send it straight to HTC, also, it didn't have any crappy branding or anything.
Then again i had to pay (quite some) for it, where as you new NLD hd2 users prolly didn't (or only a little)
Great news: HTC has released an upgrade for Vodafone branded HD2's itself
The version is branded 1.72.172.0.
I'm flashing it right now.
Uploading it to rapidshare right now.

Official HTC ROM Update for HD2 (Telstra)

I was just wondering if anyone in Australia has tested this new ROM on their HD2 device as I'm interested in experiences people are having with it. I got a response back from HTC that says the included versions are as follows:-
OS Version:
5.2.21869
Manila Version:
2.5.20121431.1
ROM Version:
1.72.841.0
Radio Version:
2.07.51.22.2
Protocol Version:
15.32.50.070
HTC claim that it improves SMS messenging and improves the overall touch responsiveness and software lag on the device. Can anyone confirm as I'd like to know before I make the effort to upgrade/reinstall everything. I'm also hoping phone reception and bluetooth audio has been improved in the Radio version upgrade included in this ROM.

Can't really comment on this as it did not stay on my HD2 long enough for me to find out. I can however tell you that you cannot flash HSPL from this rom. It sets your SPL to 1.66 which HSPL2 cannot seem to deal with. I had to downgrade to the older rom version and then run HSPL1.
Why do want all that terrible telstra bloat? I can tell you your phone will run much faster without it.
I don't want all the Telstra bloat, I hate it. I was encouraged when I saw the message from HTC that all carrier customisations would be removed after upgrading the ROM
If I don't go with this HTC ROM, what custom ROM do you recommend? I assume Energy?

just to correct you slightly, HSPL2 wont work on any telstra, nothing to do with the spl version, it is the telstra model ID that fails hspl2.
You are correct about HSPL needing 1.42.0000 to install though.
Personal Choice

I like Energy but there are quite a few other roms out there. ROMs are such a personal choice. What works best for me may not be to your taste. Try a few and see how you go, Most of the chefs in here have been around for quite a while and are very experienced in cooking so you really can't go wrong. Just don't forget to HSPL your phone first and read the ROM threads regarding which radio rom will work best with their ROM.

Ahhhh, thanks for the correction and enlightenment. I had a feeling it had something to do with the model ID as that is the error message I got when trying HSPL2. Sneaky Telstra bastards....
Ditto the problem with this new Telstra update, I had the same problem. It changes the SPL so to 1.66.0000 which will block any attempt to use another ROM or HSPL. Revert back to 1.48 and you'll be OK.

if you plan on flashing cooked roms, but want to try the 1.66 update before hand, you can install HSPL first, and then when you run the .exe shipped rom (over USB), it will only change the rom and the radio, leaving HSPL installed.

My device originally had SPL1.42 on it. I did not flash to HSPL. And I upgraded to SPL 1.66 by flashing an telstra official rom, which brong me a SPL 1.66. And now I am stuck because I cannot use HSPL or HSPL2 to flash the SPL. Could you please tell me how to revert the SPL to an older version (1.42) then I could use HSPL to flash it again??? Thank you very much!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just realized that I could use the SPL revert procedure to revert the SPL
Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
All I need now its theolder Telstra ship ROM with SPL 1.42. I went to htc/australia wedsite, And they only have the new ROM available for download. Is there a place to download the older ship ROM?? Thank a lot!

This is easy, you just need to flash the older Telstra rom version that uses SPL 1.42.0000. The rom you are looking for is 1.49.841.1 and I think you can download it from HTCPedia. Just ensure it is the Telstra version. Flashing this will ovewrite your current 1.66 SPL back to the correct 1.42 SPL. When you have done this you can use HSPL version 1 and it will work. I know because I did it myself a few days ago
Correct. There is a telstra 1.49 (1.48?) rom floating about, several people have used it to downgrade. Start searching!
Feeling kind

SPL 1.66.0000 SPL 1.66.HSPL
SPL 2.07.0000
SPL 2.08.0000 SPL 2.08.HSPL

hspl or hspl2? hspl2 doesnt work no matter what version spl you have. Use the first hspl.
try flashing RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe and then the original HSPL and then a new ROM...

I was also told my HD2 was locked to Telstra but it was not, (I don't believe any of them are now) I can send you the rom I used if you like? HSPL2 won't work as has been said before but HSPL does.
Another option I used while trying to get the right rom/HSPL working was to use SSPL, this worked great but does not allow you to change the radio, and until you can do that there are a few roms you cant use as they don't get on with the Telstra radio.
ps. I had a lot of similar error messages along the way...
I Got it, works perfect, I used the latest T-Mobile Rom from the U.S. on my T9193 Telstra, and its beautiful..thanks everyone for all the very helpful info, I could'nt have done it without you guys and keep up the good work..

i have a unbranded htc hd2 can i use any rom?

i have a unbranded htc hd2 can i use any rom? i notice some of the providers are getting newer roms...if i can will it effect my sim lock? because currently of course there isn't one
if the phone is unbranded then u can use any rom but ofcourse dont flash for example a vodafone uk 1.72 rom because then i think it would be an issue
Just folow the advices of the roms shef to use the apropriate radio with the rom u want to flash
i have 1.66 rom (HTC offical rom) so cannot use a provider 1.72+ why isn't there an unbranded one?
1.72 just1.66 with the fixes already applied.
you can use any htc wwe rom without hspl.
there is no problem flashing a provider rom if you want to.(needs hspl of course.)
sorry what is hspl??
thanks i have read another post reference this..

Any way to get the 3.14 ROM running on a T-Mobile UK branded HD2...?

Sorry if I'm being thick, here.
My HD2 was originally bought direct from T-Mobile UK. It was Hard-SPL'ed a long time ago, so I recently tried putting the new 3.14 generic ROM onto it, only to run into the "RAM cut in half" problem; apparently the 3.14 ROM is not fully compatible with any currently released HSPL version. For owners of non-branded HD2's this isn't a problem - they can simply replace the HSPL with a standard, non-hacked SPL, and then flash the ROM; but if I put the standard SPL back on my phone, it goes back to being treated as a branded phone, which cannot install non-branded ROM updates - the installation programme refuses to play ball.
Is there any way around this, or do I have to wait for either a T-Mobile version of the 3.14 ROM, or a 3.14-compatible HSPL?
Best thing you can do is waiting fore a a T-Mobile version of the 3.14 ROM, or a 3.14-compatible HSPL version.
HTC is working to make fore every aria/language/(branded / unbranded) a update to the 3.14 base stock rom, it's a matter of time.
I had the same problem, but with an O2 supplied phone. What I did was to install HSPL (using HSPL3) and then load Dutty's ML Family Rom. This gave me 3.14, plus the extra memory, plus WM-6.5.1. You'll need to reinstall your software though.
The ROM is fast and stable.
Visit this page - you can get a Goldcard in which you will be able to install the new ROM.
