HASHTAG FOR TWITTER: #NeverAgain * Update: Froyo OTA 1/21 - Source within 60 days *

EDIT: Well, some will say this effort had no impact, others will not be so naive and realize the voices of MANY of you were heard. Really applaud everyone... regardless if it helped or not, Samsung has stated that they have heard us AND that it's something they are not used to, but will make an effort... I feel like this is success.

I generally remain calm and try and remain upbeat and defend... but the news (rumor/leak) about Samsung holding off the froyo release to sell more phones set me over the edge.
While nothing is confirmed, I still believe Samsung needs to be aware of just how pissed they are making our community. I'm not talking stupid class action, blah blah... I simply want our voice heard, and for a Froyo release to happen ASAP... but beyond that, I want them to adhere to the Open Handset Alliance and release their source for our developers.

I believe we all now who is going to put out a better product, and right now they (our developers) are handicapped because they do not have everything they need.
That said, we need to be organized!
We need twitter to trend AND we need to spread it all over Facebook! I am ignorant and have no interest in learning Facebook. I know the majority of you use it daily so I am going to rely on you guys for that!
To do this on twitter, we all need to use the same #hashtag. We also need to threaten something that means something to them... the whole problem is they are not updating to help with their sales (allegedly). Well, we need to threaten to never buy Samsung again.

Awesome, please do what you can people... the whole point is to be organized, make it trend on twitter and Samsung will be forced to respond. Maybe that is why I am so upset, they have not made any effort to debunk these rumors.

Creating an account is super easy (and the best way to keep up with our developers). Once you have the account created, just PM me if you need help.... you could just copy/paste what I have in the OP if you like.

I would never ever imagine this coming from you but you actually did a pretty good thread. I don't think it would make diffrence, people aren't going to follow up, XDA is a small portion of all samsung phones.
Like someone said samsung is known for their eletronics that are release as is, no follow up update. As big as they are they become greedy. Its a company out out for money, "making a new phone with new software" will get the most sales.
If they give us froyo now it will drop their new phone sales dramactecly (spelling). Because an old phone will be cheaper then a new phone The vibrant 4G isnt really a big update besides the FFC and HSPA+. Thereby the orignal vibrant.will get.bought.
Another thing to think about is when the vibrant 4G/plus gets out we will not get froyo right away, maybe a month after.

I did this... but now I realize that is against XDA rules (I never post multiple threads). I need to let the mods know my error. Hopefully this thread remains open though.

I agree... but we NEED to try.

[rant] Thhis community is seriously lacking.

There is NO organization here. No moderation. The bible isn't kept up to date, the different variations of the Tab are thrown all into one pot. The Dev forum is a HUGE mess. And there's no easy way to find the stock roms.
This seriously has to change. I see this as a huge mark on the community I consider myself a member of. Have you guys seen any of the other forums? Very nice. Especially the Vibrant forums where I come from. Why can't we have that kind of organization? It's seriously needed. Mods, where the hell are you guys? This place is a mess but it is a world apart from the vibrant thread. They may be organized but they will disembowel you for asking a noob question. They are 6 months ahead of us in development and experience. Their phone is distributed in mostly English speaking countries, many of our members struggle to understand our posts. Although you have good intentions, this topic is pretty meaningless and does not belong in the development section. This section is for posting dev projects/reference like builds/roms/kernels/tuts etc.
All the latest info goes into the actual HC dev topics that exists, what point would be in putting them here?

Spacemoose1 is already doing his\her best to create a good working port and Dip7 (as much as I know) is not working on HC right now. So I doubt that your offer will change anything in HC development.

Spacemoose already has a new Tab on the way to his home, so I doubt he would need another one to continue working on his HC port.
But he is a fan of donations, so if anyone wants to donate, go to his thread and toss him some pizza & beer money

Like I understand it spacemoose1 has both a cdma and a gsm tablet on the way, but it sort of makes sense for this guy to send him a 1010 wifi only tab, I've heard that hardware is somewhat different. So if there's very little development done on 1010 then it's understandable that he wants to make sure something gets done.

Dude, there isnt even a custom froyo rom for the 1010 so what makes you think this topic is going magically make a HC appear?
It is a good idea though for the OP to send spacemoose a 1010 and when another build is created it can be tweaked and tested on it.

Its the biggest problem that there is nothing, and my coding is so fecken rusty acid would not help otherwise would start it myself...... Can't wait for sammy to do it hell it will be the next rapture event by the time they get there job done but by then..... Well it will be the rapture so that means everyone using windows phone i guess >:~}

Its why I created the thread in the hopes that Space or others would be interested in starting this then I would have no probs in sending them a dev tab to play with and when they are done send them a brand new one also!!
Like I said I have shipped lots of these devices to UK and Ireland and would love to be able to say to clients its actually going to happen and some time soon??? but hehe knowing my luck a few good devs start it get it done then in the same week sammy then release the offical rom

Have been around the net long enough not to kettle trols annoy me. And its nite about having tons if cash to slosh around I don't and if i did or not its relevant. I asked the community of des if the could help or not and its up to them and i would do what i could to help and support them..

It means that porting ics to other devices should devices should be a lot easier. The more pieces we have the better a chance of it happening.

If u consider xda a mall, then yes I am lol. Still as I said, its a matter of courtesy. We are under no obligation to follow any request from other forums(that I'm aware of at least). I said something because paul is a huge figure as Android community goes and he deserves respect as does everyone. Android community is built on the backs of people liked him.
In comparison your post is pointless & if it want explicitly directed at me I would be removing it as it is unconstructive and is a direct attack (for lack of a better weird) on another user which is not tolerated. as it its I'll let it slide, but don't try and push it, I doubt another mod will do the same.

You join the XDA IRC and say "ops plz" (repeatedly so they notice it quickly). (j/k, and also I don't even know if there is an IRC).
In any case I do believe the account has to be a certain age and you have to have a certain number of posts (or at least those should be basic criteria).
It's probably in a FAQ somewhere on the site (or if not, should be).

If you find problems, use the reporting system. But don't come waltzing in here and issuing threats and edicts when you don't have the authority to back them up. If you're not a moderator, you're a regular member just like the rest of us, which means you don't have the authority to tell us what to do. You've obviously weren't around here when the Atrix Forums first opened, or perhaps you've forgotten what it was like around here.
Basically it was a lot of ex-iPhone d-bags that got the Atrix as their first Android phone, and had little respect for XDA. IMHO The Atrix forums has been "pleasant" lately compared to what it used to be when it first opened...

Dude, posting stuff like that is a good way to loose all friends here - nobody likes a self appointed hall monitor. Let the mods do their job, I don't think the policy is to remove every post that might offend someone, it's the tubes; you need to grow a thick skin.
Don't worry, the angst lake will drain once the ICS situation resolves itself - one way or the other. Although, prepare for some awesome gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands if Moto pulls the same stunt they did with the Dext and cancels the update at the last moment.

Well I'll have to admit : I knew the Htc Magic, Htc Touch2, Htc HD2, Samsung Galaxy 10.1v and the Xperia Ray community and the Atrix one is by far the worst. A lot of aggressiveness and unthankful people...

So what devices have a GOOD active community then? I'll sell mine and go get one of those.
Honestly I don't think this community is all that bad. It's like any other community really, in that you have your good users and bad users.
What would really be neat is to take the regional and economical demographics of all the smartphones and compare them. Then you might have something.
Of course people's standards of good and bad are different as well, so you're always going to have someone complaining. Trust me on this, I'm a goth/industrial DJ and getting everyone in this subculture at the club to be happy is like spitting into an oncoming wind!

I don't say it's hell on earth either...it's just that there is a level of animosity that I never encountered before. Why is that, I don't know...

Then I guess you haven't seen the HTC Hero forum. There most of the fighting is between devs, and the majority of bans, blocks etc. is toward the devs, that dont play together nice...
As for this community, I admit that there are some that dont stop complaining, but as already said, in the beginning it was worst.
The best thing here is that most of the complaining is to Motorola and stinking nVidia (Burn bi$#h burn!!! ), whereas practically all the Atrix forum dwellers pay there respect to the devoted devs.
I think that most of the complains will be gone once Moto will release the ICS update. If they will not release it this community will just die slowly...

Toshiba Folio, Kindle Fire sub-forum are good and active in my opinion. The Acer Iconia A100 is not active, however people there treat each other especially good. I can say more than 99% of the users there are good and humble, respectful of each other.

Get an HD2, it's more religion than gadgetry.

Same thing with the HTC Aria. Its an old phone now, but the people there NEVER demmanded anything and were so grateful for what ever they got (Rom-wise).
This forum...not so much....

Dont' take all I said personal, it was most directly to Mods. I don't know if you want to ban me or do whatever you want with my account Mods but I'm going to tell you the truth...
