[Q] 3G with the Adam - Adam General

How's the U.S. users' experience with 3G? I have ATT unlimited data with my plan wondering if I can just pop in the sim to use internet.

Don't know what reception would be like as I don't live in US, but for 3G to work expect to have to manually configure your APNs in settings for ATT.
If you have an android phone you can easily pop in the sim and copy the settting in:
Settings-> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names.
Hope this helps.

Cincinnati Bell 3g compatible?

These may be newbie questions, but does anyone know if the unlocked phone is compatible with Cincinnati Bell's 3G network?
If I choose to unlock via tmobile....I'm guessing I can go back to tmobile and mainain an account there?
Thanks!
3G
Well Cincinnati Bell uses the 2100 band for its 3G along with AT&Ts bands. T-mobile uses 1700/2100, but I believe the majority of its 3G is handled on the 1700 band. You could use it in G/E data modes. T-mobiles 3G is spotty up where I live. Check out this link for a thread on this.

Thanks for the info. Requested the unlock code from Tmob. Once that comes in I'll be able to test on cinbell and see how it goes.

i need the settings. can someone help me? I'm a noob...
Go to a CinBell Wireless Store
If you go to a Cincinnati Bell Wireless store, they should be able to provide the data connection settings. They have been advertising that the Nexus is compatible with their bands and I know they are partnered with T-Mobile for 3G.
If the clerks are clueless, you should be able to check the access points on a demo phone.
i've tried the nexus one settings from the cincinnati bell wireless page, but with no luck. i've seen on howard forums that it may be wap.gocbw.com and that doesn't work either.
got data working!
settings for HD2 data:
settings -> connections -> connections -> add a new modem connection
Enter a name for the connection: CBW Internet
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
next
Access point name: wap.gocbw.com

xperia x10 for T-mobile

hi i'm new to this and i'm not a programmer. can any one could guide me how
to setup data service T-mobile carrier?
What does this have to do with Android development? That's right, absolutely nothing!
Come on people, don't post useless messages in the wrong forum...

Hi,
You are Posting in the Wrong Forum Category, the right place would be http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=615
To your Problem: Under Settings->Wireless->Mobile Networks select "Automatic Configuration" after that you should be ready to go.
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
Make sure you get the x10 with the right bands for Tmobile 3g, and that the phone you buy is unlocked. Pop in your sim card. You should be ready to go, that's how it worked for mine except I got the one that works on 850/1900 3g for AT&T.
If for some reason it doesn't work, you can set the APN for data manually in settings -> wireless controls -> mobile networks -> access point names and input the settings for the tmobile data plan you have: http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm21625.xml;jsessionid=6mJPnjzkuv_SLBEXGs
Enjoy your phone!
I am in the US using my x10 on the t-mobile network right now.
When I chose the option to auto configure the internet settings it did not work so I changed the apn to internet2.voicestream.com and that worked.
if you go to settings > mobile networks > access point names > t-mobile GPRS > apn then input the apn stated above, it should work.
That's strange on my T-mobile sim chip is simply auto configured the phone without any user intervention.
Great news is that T-Mobile's faster 3G service is starting to spread. I was randomly testing this weekend and now I'm getting 3.5Mbps / 1.3Mbps (up/down) on average.
Before I was getting 0.6Mbps / 0.7Mbps so that's a huge improvement!
This is in the Los Angeles area.

Data roaming option not available on GS5

I just got my Galaxy s5 as an upgrade and I put in my sim card. Everything works as expected, good call quality, good texts but when I'm on the train for work, where there isn't any wifi, my data doesn't work, nor does any other place without wifi. I look under system settings and it says not roaming and other things. I look under my data settings and there isn't an option to turn on roaming. I'm right now paying for something I can't use, what do I do? If it matters, I'm on consumer cellular right now.
Roaming means it allows you to switch to a different carriers network, when you are outside of the coverage of your own carriers network
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaming
If you are within the coverage of your own carrier, you should be able to use data normally, if not, call your carrier and ask them what's wrong, probably just need the service settings sent to the phone to set up data
Or try adding the APN settings manually

WAS-AL00 originally on China Mobile – gets only 2G speeds in the USA – what gives?

After unlocking the phone everything works just fine, including all the Google services (hooray!), but it gets only 2G speeds on T-Mobile LTE network in the USA (4G setting in the phone is enabled).
The APN is T-Mobile US LTE. However, if I go to Settings > Mobile Data > click cog on top right > Data plan settings it shows the phone carrier still as China Mobile in Beijing.
Does this mean that the SIM is locked to China Mobile only? If yes, why is the phone working, although at 2G speeds only?
Is there a way to make sure the phone is SIM locked? I’d like to avoid spending $30+ for an unlock code to find out it’s still not working.
If you have the correct APN settings I think it's the basebands using different frequencies that are not compatible with the p10 lite.

Axon 7 A2017U No Mobile Data after Oreo Flash

I recently flashed to the new Oreo 8.0 Build from Nougat following this https://community.zteusa.com/discussion/53823/software-update-android-oreo-sd-card-only-axon-7-a2017u-now-on-android-oreo-b20 with a SD card.
Had no issues with the installation but now my Verizon mobile data isn't available. I still receive texts and calls but mobile data is a no go. When I first purchased this phone back in 2016, I had to do the 'Swap SIM Card' method but doing it now still doesn't give me data. Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciative as I have been dealing with this for days now.
Check your APN settings are correct
I have 4 listed with only 3 of them I am able to select. Administrative(VZWADMIN), IMS(IMS) and TracFone(TRACFONE.VZWENTP). The last is Application(VZWAP).

Can you add an apn?
Yes, I can.
If you can add an APN get your service providers APN settings.
Add each line as it shows on the setting list, then save it and you should have data etc.
The other thing to try is ...
Settings > Network and internet > Sim Cards > mobile network.
Let it scan for available networks then select your service provider.
Eg: here in Australia its,
Telstra 3G
Telstra 4G
Optus 3G
Optus 4G
Depending on your sim, don't choose 4G if its a 3G card.
Hope this helps

I ended up copying the APN from another phone that my SIM card could get data on. So far, so good, thanks for the help.
