[Q] GPS - A7 General

I am trying to use my Teletype GPS Bluetooth receiver with my A&. It detects it and pairs with it but shows up as not connected and so I do not know where I am on the map program. Any ideas??
Thanks

You need an additional application which allows you to use external GPS unit..it is called BlueGPS or similar ( this is one that I used...there are maybe others out there )...then Map or Navigation software will be able to comunicate with your GPS device

What does it take to get CoPilot Live to work. I got it last night andwhen I try to activate it all I get is, "Sorry! Your CoPilot Live trial has expired".

Yeah, I did all that last night... but no joy.
E-mailed CoPilot and they had me do a few things to get it working. Seem to work ok now.

Thanks for your input. I dowloaded Blue GPS and it sees my device but Ndrive still does not - dealing with other issues with Ndrive but I do appreciat your input.

I too am using the Teletype Bluetooth GPS with build ElocityA7 DexterMod, Kernel ver 2.6.32.9-wvn2467, Firmware ver 2.2.
Using "Bluetooth GPS" I am able to lock onto the required satellites and they show up under the Status tab of the "Bluetooth GPS". However since the Bluetooth Teletype GPS is not connected under the Elocity A7 bluetooth status CoPilot Live 8 does not see a GPS.
Has anyone solved this problem?
No other Map programs see the GPS either. It seems that Elocity is aware of this and has not come up with a Bluetooth GPS recomendation yet.
Thanks
Paul

My external GPS works Via Bluetooth and BlueGPS. I works with google maps on my A7.

I installed BlueGPS and this resolved my issue. When starting BlueGPS look at the top of the screen and wath for the Bluetooth pairing notice. Swipe the top bar down and click on pairing - enter 0000 for the Teletype and it should show up in your map program.

iGO 2006 problem with bluetooth gps connection

I get use to TomTom but my friend said that iGO 2006 is better so I downloaded it, installed on my universal but there is no connection with my BT GPS. I tried many settings with comm. ports in iGO but nothing is happening. The software won't connect to BT GPS.
What else I can do?
Thanks in advance
Question? Did you activate Bluetooth from the ComManger?
You must activate it first the start iGO....
Geko
Hi!
Which GPS device are you using (NMEA or SIRF)?
In the GPS specs on the manual which comm port and baud rate does it use?

TomTom - Pair GPS each time I use?

Hi,
I have recently got an O2 XDA Mini S, and I have TomTom 6 installed I have a generic non-TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver (BT 77) which I got from eBay this works fine with my PDA.
The only problem I have had with it from day one is that I have pair my Bluetooth GPS each time that I use it. If I don't TomTom doesn't seem to detect it. E.g. go to Setting -> Connections -> Bluetooth then delete BT GPS, then I have to search for Bluetooth devices add it again and setup the ports each time I want to use TomTom. Then TomTom will pick it up.
Is this normal? Having to delete my GPS device and then add it again to be able to use it? I normally wait until my GPS has a lock on the satellites before opening TomTom.
Any suggestions on how I get my GPS setup permanently?
I have TT6 and TT's own receiver with Qtek 9100...works fine, pair it once and that's it.
Hi
Are you entering the four digit security code when asked ?. Mine did this till I got the code from the web site for my receiver.

I think you will find that the code you will need is 2003, but you maybe have to check the web site too!

The code in the guide that came with my GPS was 0000 and this works fine when I have to pair my GPS up, which you normally only have to do once.
I think I solved the problem though. Normally I have Bluetooth off and then tapping on TomTom would load up and then TomTom would automatically fire up Bluetooth for me. While it looked like TomTom was running Bluetooth fine it wouldn't actually detect my GPS.
Turning on Bluetooth before running TomTom seems to do the trick as it will detect it within about 7 seconds. Must just be a bug on Windows Mobile 5 or TomTom 6.

Well ok that is wierd cus it, i just start up tomtom and then select the gps and it works find!!! but i guess different with different gps units!!! but good to see that it is working for you now!
I have the same GPS unit as you and I don't have the issue you describe. If I manually enable Bluetooth before starting TomTom 6 it works, if I don't manually enable BT and then start TomTom 6, BT is started by TT6 and it still works. It probably takes a few seconds longer but it still connects quite quickly.
I have TT6 configured for 'Other BT GPS' on Com6. Com 6 appears as 'BT GPS' and is unsecured.

In the Bluetooth settings area for your GPS, make sure the "Secure Connection" box is NOT ticked. This should sort you out.

HTC Tytn/ Cingular 8525 & blueooth GPS

I had a question regarding this devices bluetooth GPS capablities.
Is there any necessary software to install on the device to use it as a GPS screen?
My intentions are to buy a bluetooth GPS receiver and link it to the phone. There is no way on earth i would pay cingular 9.99 a month for GPS that is already provided free by the government.
Has anyone had any luck linking a generic bluetooth gps receiver with the device? And if someone could please direct me to the GPS software for the device if there is such a thing.
I use a Garmin GPS10. it comes with the GPS software. it runs about $120. works well but most people seem to perfer TomTom.
eith way ypu pay a flat fee for the software and GPS receiver.
I bought a GPS receiver QSTARZ Q818 and it's working perfectly on my 8525 using Google Maps !!! and except for the receiver ($75) everything else is free !!! .. easy to set up and to use. But there is no voice ...

Bought a bt359 gps receiver for $99 from cingular and use live search (free) from microsoft. Has live traffic indicators and maps works great.

Voice?
Well I took the sucker punch and got the Tomtom...
Does anyone know where i would be able to download USA maps for the device?
I bought it - and took it back promptly... the GPS they sell only puts out Siirf protocol and not the NMEA. This caused only specific apps to work for me. Perhaps something was screwy on my phone but I could not get ViaVIsualEarth and GoogleMaps to function - but did not try Live Search.

TomTom GPS Issue

Hi..When I set up my GPS device on my m3100 Tomtom nav 6 will work fine. However the next time I use it tomtom fails to pick up the gps device. The only way I can then get it working is by removing the gps device & re-adding it.
Anyone come across a similar problem, used to work fine on my old m600.
i have come across the same problem. I have to wait for a long time for the device to be connect with the gps receiver. Sometimes i get connected however the receiver cannot get gps signals. Someone plz guide us???
i've got a 838Pro with TomTom V6.010 and The BT-74R Bluetooth GPS Receiver i pick up of ebay.
works great no problems !!!
yep i got a Generic ebay ($60 AUD) bluetooth GPS and the only problem i have is running the POIs with the maps causes tomtom to freeze up (using version 6.03)
My TomTom only freezes sometimes during start up, but i've notice this happens when i have alot of apps open running in the background.
however thanks to this site i no longer have this issue as i've have installed "HTC X-Button 1.5"
thanks.
I think my problem is different to others, it not that it can take a long time to connect its that It will only connect the frist time I try after adding the GPS device as a serial port. I have been using COM 0.

im also using COM0
the freezing issue went away on my TomTom (v6.0.30) when I installed AKU3.
Before I launch Tomtom, I have to start up VisualGPS which initializes the serial port and begins obtaining data from my Telenav GPS module. Try downloading it for yourselves - it's free!

Problem with Garmin XT on HD2 - turns on bluetooth instead of internal GPS

I installed Garmin XT on my HD2
when I run it, it starts scanning for bluetooth GPS devices and cannot just connect to the internal GPS.
I checked my External GPS setting
All Setting>System>External GPS
GPS Program port: COM4
GPS hardware port: (none) Baud rate:4800
and in Garmin, when I go to
Settings>System>Remote GPS
it turns on my bluetooth and starts scanning bluetooth!
when I click on Disable, it says "Connection allowed to Garmin GPS device only"
Any idea how to fix this problem??

The trial version only allows you to connect it to an official Garmin GPS receiver I believe. Since the HD2's GPS isn't officially a Garmin type one it won't work like that and that's why it's switching on your bluetooth (to try connect to a Garmin GPS).
Solution is to buy the full version.

I run Mobile XT on my Raphael and I don'expect any issues when I receive my HD2. If you purchased your Mobile XT with the external GPS like I did, there are ways to make it work with the internal GPS. You can also run your mapsfrom any SD card you choose. Requires adding some text files to your garmin directory. Do some smart googling.
Problem solved with the full version.
the trial was the problem.
Thanks for your help guys

I am glad that you decided to go with "Full Version" and buy it ... though Garmin no longer sells GMXT
It is a shame that Garmin no longer sells the XT version. And we have to look for other ways. cough, cough. I find it much better than iGO and Tom Tom. Just installed the 2011 maps here in the U.S. and I simply love it.

ditto - if you believe me I was (currently) determining what phone to get that can run Garmin XT. That's the only reason I did not go with Android (unlocked version of Nexus One - Incredible or whatever the name is)
Ques?

GarminXT will work absolutely perfectly on your HD2 with WinMo 6.5.
It really is the best taking into account Garmins maps like Topo's and Marine. You can go from hill to highway to ferry and have a map for all.
I am looking for Garmin for Android, too.
