HTC takes down firmware 1.72 for undisclosed reason - Desire HD General

I recently got myself a new DHD wich comes with stock firmware 1.32. I was wondering why did no get the 1.72 update so I send a mail to HTC support. I got this email today explaining that 1.72 was revoked a couple of weeks ago for reason unknown to them. So the latest official firmware for the DHD is now 1.32 again Just wondering why they pulled the 1.72 offline. below the orginal mail in dutch from HTC support.

Roswitha

It was pulled weeks ago due to SMS notification bugs and issues with random reboots.
Stick to 1.32 and make sure you leave USB debugging on to prevent the INIT process going crazy. Whilst you're at 1.32, get Visionary on it and Permroot it, apply S-OFF and then never run an OTA update unless you've read it's safe to do so, 1.72 broke root.

They mentioned about Gingerbread or did you ask about Gingerbread update?

Well you can manual flash your phone with RUU to 1.72 if you wan't, but then you loose the option to root it and to install custom firmwares. see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879525 If you only want to use HTC official released firmware this will be no problem for you.
If you want both (so rooted and 1.72) then follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885996

Thank you for your reply. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885996 official update Did he to fix the problem?

From translating what you copied off the email into English it states that Gingerbread was announced but the customer support representative did not know when or if Gingerbread will be released for the DHD.
I reckon that that they are going to skip the 2.3 release for the DHD and go straight to the 2.4 version for the DHD.

I doubt that, since they told that some devices will get 2.3 but they didn`t said what devices, and 2.4 will still be gingerbread but will be actually a bridge between 1core devices and 2 core devices (not confrmed by google)
2.3 will come to DHD, when...we don`t know. I really hope that we will have some news at the mobile conferences this month.

This is correct, they say it's coming, but they don't know if it will be for DHD. Guess they are instructed to stay on the safe side when answering questions.

As far I can tell that update ONLY has todo with Arabic language support, so it will not show up (region specific)

Radio 4.16 && OS 3.14.40

Can it work together? The radio is from NL update, OS from T-Mobile US. American OS ought to have SMS name lookup implemented and better GPRS+voice handling (not dropping connection when you call or are called, but this may be in their radio version only)
You could be having one of several problems.
The radio and CE loads are linked together and one will not function correctly without the other. ril.dll, rilgsm.dll and rilgsm1.dll, etc contain the CE parts that correspond to some fixes in the radio load.
Also the USA CE software is designed only to work on PW10B hardware and doesn't work that well on PW10A hardware, and vice versa.
well, I got 3.15.15 & 4.16 so no need to try

No offense taken ofcourse!
This is the latest version on the Qtek.nl website.
Qtek NL released it 09-01-06
Indeed there is a newer version on the SPB website but you have to pay $ 20 and this version is free of charge for Qtek 9100 users.
Quote from the website:
09/01/2006 - SPB GPRS Monitor v2.3.0

You can install the lastest version (2.4.1) after installing the free version 2.3.0 from QTEK.nl, and the registration stay OK
My 2.4.1 version is really crap. After i have enabled wifi the sbp grps monitor shutdown and never starts until i reboot/reset the qtek :/
I have to ask... ( cos I removed my upload for this reason ) is this not copy righted material... fine its free for Qtec users but there is nothing stopping others installing it either...

I just uploaded it for Qtek owners only
FYI - just trying to experiment I installed it on a Cingular8125. The install checks phone ROM and let me know I didn't have the right ROM and the install failed.
So, it appears to be tied to a Qtek ROM.

GSM incoming call problem.

Hi,
I've got a G3 Prophet with a problem.
After a couple of hours my device seems unreachable for incoming GSM calls, people who are trying to call me get a standard "This phone is not available" text from my provider.
Strangely enough at the same moment i CAN call outgoing, after the outgoing call is initiated, i can receive incoming GSM calls again..
So it looks like the radiorom falls a sleep.
I tried the following radio roms
Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.30.21.exe
Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.47.21.exe
Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.61.21.exe
And rom: RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_26121_QTEK_WWE_Ship
My provider is: T-Mobile NL
What else can i do to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance
I also had some problem with all those radio rom on my Qtek S200 G3... 2.20.21 was the best for me... I am now using 2.69.21 without any problem.
I am also using the same rom as you...
Am having the same problem, have tried several roms, am curious to the solution...
Also a T-Mobile NL user

Tnx for the link, I will install this radio-rom and let you know my experiences in a while, normally I only hear from people who couldn't reach me once every week or so...
Is this the latest ROM for the S200?

I am using RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_QtekWWE_Ship and don't seem to be able to find the above.
The version is almost the same, i wonder what's new?

Shall we keep it English, can the others also understand what we're saying
I saw on the pocketinfo.nl forum that it were only people with T-Mobile. Nobody with a different provider had the same problem, too bad I came to that solution after my upgrade
Black-Rose: There are also people with the wifi/gprs problem who solved it, they mention which rom they use so you can compare if yours is the same...
Good luck!
2.69.21 seems stable, right now..
Hopefully it keeps working.

Belgian Hero rom upgrade

Hey
Just got my Hero, which is a Belgian one (sans Youtube)
It's running build 2.73.1100.5 at the moment, but on the htc website I can find two other ones being Hero_2.73.405.5 and 2.73.66.5 (for Orange Belgium, which is Mobistar)
I'm guessing that my phone is a Mobistar/orange one, even though I bought it unbranded.
But I can't upgrade! I downloaded the 405.5 elsewhere and managed to run the installer but it gives an error when patching the phone.
So, what should I do? I can't download the orange one because it denies my SN. Should I keep the current version or dabble into custom roms etc...
And is the 1100 never then the 66 one?
Maybe try to download the orange version again and see if it works. If you got a original Mobistar Hero then the update for that device should work.
I bought my Hero in holland and with SN i do get the update for holland.
I wouldn't even bother trying to download the standard ROMs when you've got the option to install the Modaco v2.8 custom one instead. For me, I won't install a standard ROM again, they're too slow compared to the custom ROM. Go to the developer forum page and check out the v2.8 thread, it has all of the instructions, files etc required. You won't regret it.

SMS update

Hi,
I wanted to install the sms update from the HTC site. The update states it is for rom 1.66.XXX.X or lower. Since I have 1.66 it should be no prob I tought..
Well, when trying to install the exe. from my memcard, it says "This hotfix is not compatible with your device"
Any idea whats going wrong?
You shouldn't need the SMS fix for 1.66 as its already included in the ROM.

Hmm I tought I might need it since the last msg I tried to send didn't got true...

Hmmm the english site states less than 1.66, while the dutch site states 1.66 or less.
NL HTC site:
Guess it will be for lower then 1.66 then..
HTC France:
"Cette mise à jour s’applique uniquement à la version de ROM égale à 1.66.XXX.X, ou inférieur."
In English:
This Update is for 1.66 ROM or less than 1.66
Yeh... No idea why it doesn't want to install..
Why do you want to install it?
It's already installed in 1.66!
