im thinking of switching to WP7. is it fully stable?
what works/what doesnt?

Not 100% Stable. But I will tell you, it is faster than Android without it being overclocked of such sort, and the battery performance is exceptionally well.
My phone hasn't been charged for about 13 hours. I've used it from medium/alot of usage today. I'm just waiting for it to die out since I'm training to battery these next 3 days so I can get the most out of it. The interface of wp7 looks very nice and simple to me. Some people like it some people don't. Their are a few problems with camera and the pinch to zoom on the internet explorer, but this will be patched up soon. So far I love it. Also, if you do flash wp7, I would suggest radio 2.14.
The 2.12 radio has better battery performance a tad bit, but it will always switch from edge/3g/hsdpa. 2.14 gives me a very stable connection with great battery performance, and 2.15 is a battery hog. I hope I covered enough for ya

Best Radio for Android (test Darkstone froyo v1, v2.1, Mattcleo 1.6b, Shub's)

Hey guys, I didnt see any thread like this before so I think no one has taken the time to do this (hope to be right.) The thing is I tested the title listed Android Roms with different .50 radios raging from 2.08 to 2.12. I tested all this using MichyP R8, manusfreedom 11aug, and the used builds default kernels
I found specific radio irregularities that might be useful for the users out there who are still experiencing difficulties with their android builds and use this as a way to get a better result.
**Always remember that I have HSPL and therefore I can test other Radios. If you dont have HSPL, then you shoudnt do this.
All roms gave me the exact same response on both HD2s I own
R 2.08 - Robotic voice, overheating
R 2.10...26 - BSOD, constant screen freezes (more than usual)
R 2.11 - System freezed the first two boots on fresh install, some screen freezes afterwards but generally a improvement over all other.(BEST Result)
R 2.12 - Extreme battery discharge, overheats easily, low sound, signal takes longer to recover, signal constantly shuts down for over 10, 30 secs.
I will keep working on this. as far as I can tell, Radio 2.11.50.20 was the best of all. Im using SetCPU with Conservative 768mhz max/ 245 min. screen off 245/245 and I get around 15 hours of battery, almost no Screen freezes. I will be testing more Kernels and builds as they come out with good improvements in their respective readmes. Hope this was as helpful for you as it was for me.
Michyprima's (r8) Zimage caused system hanging under Mattcleo 1.6b. try another kernel
You think all the other 2.10 series radios will have similar issues? I have been using 2.12 and it worked fine with Froyostone, apart from the screen freezes. I am also having all the same issues as you with 2.12 and Mattcleo 1.6b. Signal bouncing up and down, data connectivity inconsistencies. I am definitely going to give 2.11 a try.
actually the 2.12 radio is the one that works best for me I've tested out on like 14 diff. HD2's it does Drain my battery like CRAZY but its the only one that gives me the most stability.
I think I've try'de them all but I will try the 2.11 radio again see how it works and report back.

2.11.50.20. thats the one
I've been using 2.12 all the way and it works fine with mattc 1.5 & 1.5b. No freezes, but it's true that it gets hot really fast and that battery is drained faster than with others.
With MattcLeo 1.6b and 2.11.50.26, constant hard system freezes. Not even usable.
Going to try 2.11.50.20
R 2.08
I've been using 2.08 for a while since flashing my WM Miri Rom and kept it when I went to the Froyostone Android. Seems fine for me. No robotic voices either.

yes, with 1.5b and 2.12 and I got the most usable Android experience thus far, but the screen freezes were very frequent.
6:10 AM Eastern
After playing with several variants I found that
Radio: 2.11.50.20 + MattcLeo 1.6b with RMNET to be the most usable combination so far. Screen Freezes are of course still there, but it seems that like OP says downclocking to 768 max lessens the frequency. Also I have noticed great battery life especially with 245 Max and 245 min profile set for when screen is off.
I am also running 2.11.50.20 from beginning and its just great!
Anybody have a link for 2.11.50.20?
i tried to download the radio ver 2.11.50.20 from here but when i try to flash it it tells me that the radio ver im going to update to is 2.10.xx.19

It seems that with 2.10.50.20 radio, NRGZ8's Barebones Rom, and Mattcleo 1.6b RMNET, after about 2 hours of mostly problem free usage, Sleep of Deaths started coming on full force.

Battery Life - WinMo 6.5 or 6.5.x

So I am thinking of making the switch from 21xxx to 23xxx and I read somewhere that I will see a increase in battery life by doing so while staying with the same cooks roms.
Does anyone have an opinion on this? Will the newer windows builds really help my batter life assuming the same usage throughout the day???
Thank you,
Jeff
I'm using WinMo 6.5 and as for right now my phone has been running for 3 days already with 40% battery life.

Jeff, I'm was the energy 23138 sept 23 standard rom and 2.14.50.x radio. i was getting anywhere between 24 and 36 hours on a standard size battery. I am a heavy user and when i'm at home my wifi is always on, i surf the internet a lot and if i'm out i've normally got the music player going. I also have the facebook tab updating every hour as well as my location. I also use the gps quite a bit.
So i would say the battery life is good but i can't compare it to 21916 as i have never used that series of builds and it's been a very long time since i used a stock rom, so again i can't compare.
My advise would be to try it out for a few days and see if you notice the difference but i have to say i am very pleased. I've just finished flashing and configuring 21619 sept 24 so it will be a couple of days before i can get a comparison between 23138 and 21619 (as you will have seen from the enrgy rom thread these are both 6.5.x builds) but i'm not expecting much difference considering that they use the same drivers from the 3.14 tmous base and the radio hasn't changed between the two.
A plus point though, seeing as you use the energy roms, is that xda_uc will still be able to import all your settings if you go for the same "flavour" rom i.e standard for standard or cht for cht (unless you pick the new cht2 builds then your cht settings are not compatible)

Can someone tell me how this is possible? I've had my HD2 for about 4 months now and if I don't charge it daily it's dead the next day. I'm using the new 2.14 radio and Miri HD2 WM6.5 (21916) ROM V 19.1. I have Exchange and weather on auto update and everything else is on manual update. Any pointers is a big plus. Thanks.
BTW I've tried the 23138 but I can't stand the over-sized buttons on the bottom. It's just absolutely hideous to me so I have no idea if it gets better battery life.

Extended size battery (the one that needs the different battery cover), auto disconnecting data connections, and not really using it very much at all
thanks guys for your reply, man it sure sounds like I am sucking as far as battery goes, my usage is a fraction of yours and I can barely get 20 hours. I think part of my problem is that at work, I have poor service, going in and out of coverage as I walk around the building. I have to turn off 3g and I barely have edge. I am currently trying duttys cream de la cream now 6.5.x to see if is any different. man, if I had your battery life, I would never flash again! I have latest radio, tried many, and the 3.14 rom.
I will let you know how this one goes.
jeff
I really don't believe some of you about the absolutely ridiculous battery life. Especially if you are heavy user, no way! I've seen lots of HD2's (different ROM's/Radios/battery charging methods) and I want to tell people on this board that they don't need to be worried if their battery is dead after a long working day with heavy use. So, don't believe too much fairy tales and enjoy your wonderful phone.

It does seem a little crazy huh? I hear that some Iphone users can go three days with pretty heavy use and a few that I have talked to say that thier iphone can barely last 10 hours. There seems to be a ****load of variability in current consumption amongst all variants of smart phones.
I would just be pleased to get from 5am to 11am with moderate use, without having to buy that brick battery with the built in kickstand.
I will give this current rom a week to see how the battery settles down, ignore the sig, it is the Dutty CDLC V17 with the 2.14 radio.

Gingerbread 2.3 ROM

Hey guys, just wondering what the best Gingerbread ROM is for the HD2.
Thanks.
The one you prefer, after trying all that is available.

Well is there one that stands out above the rest or anything?
I've only found 2 Gingerbread ROMs on here so far.

i don't know why so much people are asking for the "best" rom, instead of testing them by themself. tastes are different and in case of gingerbread you don't have much options...
i love mdj's gingerbread 1.8a - everything works with awesome speed.

you complain about battery life on ginger bread? for me gingerbread has by far the best battery life. hd roms and builds drained my battery very fast - especially when i'm using the phone a lot. i just flashed 1.8a some hours ago (used 1.5 some time ago), so i can't tell you much about total drain in hours. but from what current widget says, standby drain is 3-4ma.

I'm not complaining about gingerbreads battery life. I was just asking. I haven't run it yet. I've heard that battery life is terrible on it.
I'm using TopiaHD nand (2.2.1) and getting about 2mA standby
As well another concern of mine is TMOUS mms. I do a lot of picture messaging and the blurry MMS kills me. TopiaHD has perfect TMOUS mms.
So with battery life not being terrible on 2.3......last thing is the MMS. Is there any word on that yet?
don't feel attacked by my words. my english isn't good enough to express exactly what i want to
well can't tell you much about mms, since i'm not using it. if you get 2ma on a hd build you should stick with it. i got 3-4ma in standby on gingerbread, compared to hd builds i used before with 5-7ma standby it's a hugh improvement. especially as i said before, it lasts much longer while playing around!

HD2 WP7 - Which Radio are you using?

Hello all, just flashed WP7 and am loving the netflix and the sexy UI!
I would just like some feedback as to what radioversion some of you are using with this phone. I was using a "compatible" radio with an old android nand rom I was using, however I'm thinking that probably it's sub par for a WP7 setup.
I kinda have some complaints that callers can hear things quite loudly that normally go on in the backround "ruffling potato chip bags" sounds like super static noise lol.
Any insight is appreciated, thanks!
Bump... I would like to know as well!
2.15.50.14 but I have a problem with this version, high battery drainage in 2G network! Is somebody have same problem with this version?
Hi,
I had the high Battery drain as well with 2.15 Radio.
So tested 2.08 and 2.10.50.19_2, both seemes better because I could run on day with a battery load.
cheers
I am using 2.12.50. I get around 11 hours on my battery - with pretty reasonable usage.
Just flashed to 2.14.50, now I'm good.

Definitely INSANE battery drain with the phone just sitting, lost 50% power in about 5 hours of the phone just sitting there, with all stuff on manual sync too DEF giving 2.14 a go.
Hi, I am a complete noob so forgive my ignorance.
I installed Radio 2.15.50.14, then MAGDLR113 and finally WP7 8107.
Wow - I have fell back in love with my old HD2! Only problem now is a)reception and b) battery life.
Having read a few forums/threads I think i need to downgrade my radio to 2.14 but I can't find how to do this with MAGDLR installed - the old custom RUU's don't seem to work.
I am probably missing something really obvious but please help.
Thanks
Does those Radio works with "T mobile" HD2 USA Version??

[Q] the best wp7 rom

what is the best wp 7.5 rom work withot problems on hd2 ?
i followed the advice in this thread, which was guided for TMOUS users:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327106
i installed Yuki v2 ROM with the 2.15 radio. Things have been going pretty smooth.
thanks dear
but my hd2 not t-mobile
Mine isnt either, but the WP7 rom works, Kinda awesomely infact, the only huge issue I get is the freaking battery life (Both 2.12 and 2.15 radios.)
Hey i just followed that guide and it was great. My battery life seems fine, but i have to put it in usb mode to charge. I still need to test it more though.
p.s.
Not tmobile either. I'm Australian Telstra

Trail and error i guess, jus try different ROM and radios (SD cards too)
to far i tried Yuki V2 (smooth, and fast even data on 3g was fast) but battery drain is a killer, even with 2.12 radio
Pdaimatejam v2 - smooth, everything works, a lil issue with pinch and zoom (a little fiddley) bt batterylife is good, 10-16 hours on heavy use (2hours facebook, 200+txts, and whatsapp) [radio 2.12]
and HD20 v1.23b1 [radio 2.15] - smooth, everything works, battery drain over 3g on standby is amazing (over night only 5% battery drain) bt drains rapidly when on whatsapp and internet explorer.
When I use Windows (I prefer Android..) I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
Works fine, battery drain is high but that is the only issue.
Good luck!
Back to the future is good at multitouch and smooth but battery drain is so bad. For me, I need to last my battery using time much longer. 1 vote for 7740 v3 of Pdaimatejam.
Here is it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
Version 3 still isn't uploaded, I'm using V3. Everything is smooth and fast as Back to future ROM, in addition, you'll get a better battery drainage(my battery isn't new but it run out in almost a day).
Sincerely
PhongPT
