Adam does not recognise when we add new hidden SSID network manually
It says "not in range" But remembered
As a additional note it is well within range (less than 30 cm away) and all otehr devices laptops, phones connect to this wifi without any issues
Thanks

hi
Does Your Adam see any other network?
.... you can try teach ADAM by switching ssid on your router, connect to it and remembering it, then switch the ssid off and tell us how did it go.
I know its a lot of hassle but you will be our guinea pig this time
WAAAiting For Adam 25 feb 10 march bach

hymm after having a deep toughs..Some routers have a feature of limiting accessibility to set number of users/ Connections ?
maybe this is set on your rooter?

I have a non broadcasting SSID network and it works fine, just be sure if you use WPA or WPA2 the adam sometimes doesnt accept TKIP just AES. Also dont try Wifi N 5Ghz

Just to confirm this is AES,WPA2 and does not work on linksys
can you let me know how different is the settings on your NI.... which update ,stock or custom ROM , and what was done to connect it to a network with Hidden SSID ...as i sure have exhausted all options ,custom and does not seem to work
Whereas other devices have no issues in attaching to this network

I have a linksys WAG320N

Can't see new Belkin N+ router

Ok, so I bought a new wireless router and my hero refuses to pick it up, Belkin N+. It saw my previous linksys wrt54g just fine. All of my computers and my iphone 3g see the new belkin fine also. I am running modaco 2.0, have tried all the other roms also with the same outcome. Anything I can do here? Return the router? smash my hero? jk

2 Things:
1. make sure you are broadcasting a B/G singal not just N.
2. Delete all of your existing "saved" wifi networks off the phone, anything you have previously connected to. then reboot. Seems like Redneck had an issue like this.
The router is set to allow b,g,n. I dont have any networks saved, I've flashed several different roms. As I said my iphone picks it up, so I'm gonna say it has to be a problem with the hero being the only thing in my house that won't see it.
Try changing the channel the router is broadcasting at. Maybe its too high for the Hero
channel 1, 20/40Mhz
well I switched the router to only broadcast in b/g and now the hero picks it up. The whole purpose for the new router was "n". so what gives? All my other "g" devices including computers and again my iphone work on "g" even when "n" is enabled. y not the hero?
I also haven't been able to get anything to install from the market since yesterday (the reason for trying to get on wifi anyway) Been flashing roms to try to get my standard apps to install and/or connect to wifi. Nothing. this thing is really asking for a flight into the woods.
Ok I gave up. turning off "n" on the belkin was the only thing that made the hero detect it. All other "g" devices work with "n" enabled. Ended up just setting up the old linksys as an access point for just the hero to use, what a waste.
do you have any N devices? if not then having it on won't help the speed of your network, only cause problems.
bmr34, i have the same router, and my hero doesnt see the wifi connection when the router is in B/G/N mode either. really irritating seeing as my notebook actually has N...
disabling N was the only solution for me, as i have no other router...
I know it's not much, but i have an airport express broadcasting BGN and my hero can see it..so maybe its your router?
What security protocol is being used on your router?
I have found that I cannot connect to a WPA-Personal and AES wifi. However, the newer WPA2 and AES is just fine. Also, TKIP works just fine.
i'm thinking that it might be the security settings, running mixed n,g mode fine here on belkin N+, ill check my settings and report back
Please do, as am having the same problem, Hero sees n+ in b+g mode only, not b+g+n.

Sorry to dig up an OLD thread, but just in case someone runs across this in a google search, as I did, then here's what you need to do:
Under wireless > security (in your belkin n+ setup page), set your authentication type to WPA2/PSK ONLY (not WPA/PSK + WPA2/PSK). For whatever reason, that's the issue that's freaking the Hero out.
If, for whatever reason, you still need to have the dual option for WPA/WPA2, I was going to use the guest access portion to dedicate to the Hero (as I really don't need to try to connect to the home network via mobile).

My galaxy s2 is working and also samsung notebook.. but there is a problem in s4..... i really dont know .... what does it cause by?
my wi fi modem's model is "inca IM-205NX" can you google it? i cannot enter a website link on forum because of new user
i have some news i guess i will solve the problem
when i enter my modem surface, i see modem passward.. as i write before, my modem is inca, and security type Wpa/wpa2 psk..
when i change security type from Wpa/wpa2 psk..to non-security, i can access my wi fi connection. i mean if there is no password on modem, i can reach but it can be dangerous, hackers can intrude....
i will change my modem settings until solve wi fi problem and i will notify you
okey the problem has been solved guys....
i have entered my modem's surface and changed Security type from WPA*Wpa2 psk to Wep and restart both devices
Web is not so secure rather than WPA*Wpa2 psk but the important point is that s4 is working with wi fi

This is not a solution. Wep can be cracked in 2 minutes and somebody can style your Internet. Change back to wpa2 psk. Changing to wep isn't the smartest selection

Try with WPA2 TKIP or even WPA, but no WEP. WPA should work. There seems to be something wrong with your modem. Isn't there any firmware update for it ?

So, you could enter the passcode in hex. There's a small chance this could help. You'd have to do the same on the phone obviously as well. Actually, I just realized I don't have that option on my phone (and old Dinc2) so may not even be an option.

Galaxy S4 WiFi problem too
I dont see why this went to a router issue...?? I am having the same problem with the WiFi on my one day old S4. It is almost like the signal freezes because it still shows I am connected with a strong signal but nothing works. I have never encountered a problem before with any other devices(S2, S3 Note2, multple tablets) and saying that it is a router issue and saying that i have to disable security or get a new router is not a solution!
I have seen this same post on multiple forums and yahoo answers but nothing as far as a real answer to the issue or to what is causing the problem. PS...there are two new S4's in the house and both having the same issue....
I'm having the same problem, Brazilian S4, at my girlfriend's house, I could not connect to Wifi, the modem is a Fiberhome HG110-B.
Same issues here unfortunately. I think it's the router. Wifi at work is fine. Wifi at home has issues. That's a bummer because I love my Amped Wireless Router at home.
Same issue
Hi Guys,
So my S4 is also just a day old, and I am having the same issue, tried everything, only connects when I remove my wifi security(obviously not ideal), I am brand new to Android, jumped ship from Apple .
I dont have then exact model number with me now(at work) but my router is a trendNET something something 335.
All my other devices connect to my wireless without issues accept my S4, it is very annoying, we are still being screwed over by our Mobile Operators in South Africa, hence the fact that my wireless is so important to me..
Thanks for the help!
actually we have to wait for new update... hopefully samsung will solve that problem...
i am now using with low securtiy (wep) but i don have any choice now
My fix
My FIX
Hey dudes and chicks,
I used to have this problem too with my s4. Connecting just a minute or two and after it would just lose connection. At first i thought it had to do with something from the hardware, but i figured that was not the problem since it did have a stable wifi connection at my uni.
So the problem for most of the people is within the router. Here's how i solved it for me. (I have a Sitecom Wireless Media Router 300N WL-350 with 2.4 and 5 ghz, so the steps might differ a bit if you have different router)
-------------------------------------
1. Login to your router
2. Go to the setting for wireless 2.4 (probably radio 1) (For Sitecom go to tab Basic> subtab Wireless 2.4 GHz)
So what i changed here is the 802.11 mode. (there are several modes like: just 802.11b, just 802.11g, just 802.11n, mixed 802.11b and 802.11g, mixed 802.11g and 802.11n ........)
>>> I Put It On: "mixed 802.11g and 802.11n"<<< (it used to be on mixed 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n)
3. Secondly i disabled Auto Channel Scan. This allowed me to select a Wireless Channel (frequency/channel).
>>>I Chose the highest channel ("2.472 GHz - CH13")<<<
4. I used to have the Transmission Rate at the option "best (automatically)"
>>>I changed this to the option: "54" (Mbit/s)<<<
5. I have channel width at the option: "auto 20/40 MHz" (but it always used to be this one)
Furthermore i have the following settings:
> Security mode: "WPA - Personal"
> WPA Mode: "WPA or WPA2"
> Cipher Type: "TKIP and AES"
------------------------------------
Now running stable for more than 6 hours (incl heavy use like youtube and movie streaming from samba server). I believe that step 2, 3 and 4 are the most important ones. If this does not work immediately, try to play a bit with step 3 and 4
Im not that technical but if you have questions feel free to ask.
Help out your fellow Galaxy mate by letting them know whether this worked or not ;-p
Ill also post my fix at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253471

*Before I begin, have you tried turning it(the router) off and then back on?*
Are you able to see/connect to the router from other devices? (laptop? another phone? gaming device?)
What security settings do you have set on the router?
Do you have "Broadcast SSID" option (or similar) enabled?
Is your HD2 able to see OTHER wifi networks and connect to them?
Do you have on the router the filtering function active with mac addresses ?

what do you mean with "security" ? i have WPA2-PSK encryption and AES authentication, SSID and WPS enabled, mac addresses filter disabled, do you need anything else?
i have the option "SSID visibility" enabled, is it comparable? should i turn it off? any consequences?
yes, i connetected it to other wireless "n" router and "g" router without poblems

Okay, what channels do you have the router set to? And what channel width?
If you have the option "Auto", set both (channels, and channel width) to it. Then restart the router and try connecting now.
Edit: The channel settings should be in the "Wireless" section.

There are two android apps, one called "Wifi Analyzer" and "WiFi Manager". Download either of them and try scanning for networks from there.

Galaxy S5 & Linksys Dual Band Router Problem **PLEASE HELP**

Hey guys....
I have tried countless ways to see if I can figure this out but I can't. Every time I hook up my phone to my brand new Linksys dual band router whether it be the 2.4GHZ or the 5GHZ connections the phone barely works and is extremely slow. Facebook doesn't load, play store doesn't load, nothing works as it should. I tried resetting modem and router countless times and nothing has helped. When the phone is hooked up to the ISP provided modem/router combo it works fine. I mean its no 5GHZ speeds but it works regardless. Is there anything I can try or anything that I am missing? Please any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure about them, but I know for Verizon I had issues after changing out routers. I've got my situation figured out but...here's some things to try if you haven't already:
Try "cloning" the mac address of your ISPs router to the linksys.
Try changing the wifi channel. You can use a wifi analyzer app to see what other's in the area are using. I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en - its free.
Try setting up the router to give your phone a static address,if you have many devices connected up to your home network.
Worse case, you could try disabling the wifi on the ISP router and plug the Linksys into the ISP router for the wifi and see if that changes anything.
Also, might want to check this out: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...-3/361767-wifi-problems-dual-band-router.html sounds like others with a like issue.
Thanks for the help I've tried a few of those things with no positive outcome I will try other things I just don't know what else I can do

if all esle fails
turn off modem
hit pin hole to reset router while its turned on hold for 20 sec
let go wait 5 mins till it cycles then pwr off the wifi router
now turn on modem wait for it to cycle and connect now turn on router
now turn both on and turn both back on i know sounds dumb but this has helped me before
my dualband acts stupid on 2.4ghz most of bandwidth is vered towards the 5ghz and changing channel numbers and rebooting does help alot when thiers alot of wifi s in your area u may need to try a few to find a good less congested channel refer to ur maker info on your device but mostly its 192.168.1.1 and pass and login is normally admin admin or admin password or motorola and password its not fun but hope u get it taken care of somtimes is 192.168.0.1 just type that ip in a browser while you have a directly connected wired pc or laptop to do setup or you can connect to wifi without password and do the setup set a password if none is set by default u may want to look for nat options and turn off nat filtering or wmm mode idk routers are a pain sometimes
some routers have andriod apps u can use to manage them too !!

WIFI Trouble

Hello guys .. so I just got my N6P four days ago .. when I first opened it and tried to connect to my home WIFI network .. it refused to do so .. it didn't even detect my network no matter how close I'm to the router .. and strangely it detected every single WIFI network around my house .. all of them .. I tried lots of things including an early factory reset "I think I've made the fastest factory reset in history after only half an hour opening the box LOL " and it didn't work .. I received 4 security updates using my data and it didn't work .. It didn't actually detect the network except for when I changed the network name from the router's page "It was on marshmallow back then"
Now I thought that it got fixed and everything was alright .. I received the official Nougat update the day after this and all worked so fine .. until I disconnected my router and re-opened it .. the mobile didn't detect the network .. AGAIN !
and again it was detecting all the networks around us .. so I changed the network name again and it worked !
now as you can imagine .. this happened with me another 3 times in the past three days .. and it's really annoying .. the mobile is just fantastic but this issue gets under my skin .
any help guys ?
thanks in advance
Any help?

How many other Wi-Fi hotspots have you tested your phone with...Friend's house, School, Public, etc? If your phone will see and connect to those, then the issue is your router.
Another thought is you say the phone "can't detect my network". If you mean cannot SEE the network, then you may have the router set to not broadcast the AP. You can still connect using "hidden networks" OR just set your router to broadcast the AP which is the default. Lastly, most routers are dual band, meaning 2.4 and 5 Ghz. Usually each has it's own password (and security settings). Try to connecting to each one, and make sure your security settings are compatible with the phone. (eg. WPA2-PSK AES) vs TKIP. Sounds like you may have some router Wi-Fi configuration issues, more than a phone issue. BUT the first step is to test with other known working Wi-Fi AP's.
I had the same, trying three roms within a few hours.
In the end I had to change a router setting, from "channel 13" to "auto".

Well.. It was my first thought that it was a router configuration issue and I tried all of these things.. Unfortunately nothing worked except for changing the SSID.. What irritates me the most that it already can see and connect to any other wifi "friend's school's etc" it only happens with my own home network.. And my own N6P only.. No other device is affected.. I'm still working on it so yeah
