RubiX rom launcher help - Droid X General

Love the rom but, the only thing is that the launcher bar at the bottom has the default apps . Anyone know how to change it?

Can you explain a little more? What are you looking for it to have?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

Well at the bottom of the homescreen there is like a taskbar that has four apps . Gtalk, dialer, browser ,and email. I want to personalize the apps to stuff that I use more. Like market, sms, etc.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

To change the bottom dock you can download a different launcher from the market. I'd recommended Launcher Pro, or ADW. I personally recommend Launcher Pro. You can customize the homescreens and the dock itself.

Hey thanks, launcher pro did the trick! I wanted the 3d app drawer so that worked out very well!!

No problem, glad to help!

Changing the bottom tray

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I was wondering if there's a way to modify the permanent tray at the bottom of the screen? I want to put my chompsms link in place of the default messaging link. Thank you in advance.

Try using launcher pro it allows you to do this and is more customizable than samsung's default launcher. I just started using it myself and prefer it a lot more
If you open the app tray and press the menu button you will get an option for view type. Select customize. Press menu button again and select edit. You can now change the center two icons

if you're talking about customization, try ADW Launcher.
inb4 another ADW Launcher and Launcher Pro debate.

Actually you are the beginning of it...
Launcher pro > LIFE ITSELF
You learn something new everyday. No idea the menu button did anything in the app tray. Thank you. And I've tried both launchers. This is probably blasphemy but I don't like either. *runs and ducks for cover*

There are tons of these types of apps in the market. Here's a list of the ones I thought were good:
Open Home
Live Home
Launcher Pro
ADW
aHome
dxTop
Of those, I'd have to say Launcher Pro and Live Home are my favorites.

Sense Menubar

Alright, I know I am not the only one requesting this. I would like the sense menubar on my droid 2. Not a launcher app with all kinds of extra crap. Just a skin on my launcher buttons or menubar.
Does this exist yet? Can someone create it? Is the menubar skinnable?
I don't want to install any kind of launcher replacement themes.
Thanks.

Help with the wife's mt4g

Hey guys, greetings from over at the SGS4G section. My wife has a mt4g and wants some more themes... But she won't let me root it or change it in any way...lol.
So.. are there any themes that she can add to the stock rom?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
No, not without root. Your only option is to change the look of the homescreen by using a third-party launcher like LauncherPro or ADW. Those offer a lot of customization and can be used without root. Launcher themes don't change near as much of the phone's appearance as a full system theme does though.
Dxtop, go launch

Thanks guys, just wasn't certain since it came with the sense themes
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
yep, best bet is the hundreds of different themes with 3rd party launchers.. adw/launcher pro. If she wants wants to change the look of her icons i think anycut or bettercut doesnt require root. Desktop visualizer is worth a look ad well.

Go launcher ex is free and has a bunch of themes. Also they are icon packs u can choose if you put them on your sdcard from the themes section I believe. Desktop visualizer will let you change the icons on screen and go launcher will let you put custom icons on the bottom bar.

Firstly, I'd look in the manual.
However if you go to your app drawer, long press on an icon, it will take you to your homescreen, from there you can drag to your dock and drop where you want.
That's assuming you don't have a custom launcher and have changed settings to single dock.
As I am quite new maybe I do not use the right tech word. Sorry. I tried to drag and drop. From the app screen, I come ti my home screen. Ok. But when I want to put on my dock (the fix bar it just above the home button)... It becomes the litter bin and nothing. Mmhhh...

What launcher?
No launcher installed except the original one. I have gingerbread. Phone rooted, but disppearance happened before. First time when I arrive in amman and get connected there. Contacts icon gone. Then 2 others here in yemen for no reason as I was in yemen before without prblm

Sorry, I haven't used TouchWiz launcher since i was on eclair - however, by far the best advice I can give you, would be to install launcher pro or zeam free from the market.
There are many others, but these are probably the easiest. Zeam is very basic and light, lp has more features. Get them both, find which one suits you best. You won't be disappointed.
Tks for advice. I bought adw launcher. This does not answer my question but better now. Still have to fiddle with it... Best!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
You have to press the menu button while being in app drawer. then press config just as when you deinstall apps from your drawer. Now you can drag and drop whatever you want

Thank you. Will keep the tip. Btw, if I want to buy another android phone, maybe gal s2... I can move the apps or I have to buy all anew?
Have a nice day

I wonder why not all news apps or others do not allow to access to dictionaries when u need to know meaning of one word bu long tapping on it? This would be a real plus, no?

Best latest launcher?

What is the best latest launcher available? I'm tired of launcher pro and the other launchers.
For some reason I love my launcher7. It is simple and because I don't like horizontal scrolling.
Go launcher is really good and its free to. Alot of customization and there are some nice themes available. If you don't mind shelling out a few bucks awd launcher is nice to. There's also a free version of it out so you can give it a whirl. Try some and pick your fav.

zeam launcher for me, the lowest memory usage among all others with almost all features present (only missing thing is scrollable widgets)
.........Bingo!
Just downloaded it! I was using launcher Pro and it was so slow! Amazon has a free Organizer app, today only, that goes well with Go Launcher. I'm glad I bought this xda forum apparently otherwise I wouldn't have found this

you got Go launcher? I've been wanting to try out other launchers, but launcher pro has all my home settings and everything is perfect so idk if i'd want to change unless if the launcher was just AMAZING.
ADW launcher serves me just fine.
