Please Make A Rom For This Damn Thing - Adam General

This Eden rom is painfully buggy. Someone please develop a vanilla rom with GPS working and camera working (even when you swivel). Pretty please. The hardware isn't bad, it's this damn software!

Have you tried launcher pro or ADW launcher. Its a good temporary fix until a good rom comes out.

Idd and it works perfectly, every app looks great with Launcher Pro

Thanks. Good to know! Will give it a shot.

Thread moved to general.

just an fyi.. they need to release the kernel source before anyone can start working on a full blown ROM.
They are REQUIRED to release the kernel source, but they're taking their sweet time on doing it..

Best rom for d2?

I'm coming from cm6.1RC5 on my d1, but the screen cracked and I'm getting a d2 as a replacement.
Vanilla and or blur, what's the best? Anyone as highly used/touted as cyanogen?
Sorry for noob questions!

I'd like to know as well lol....
Personally I think blur does nothing but slow the phone down. I would go with fission. Great battery life and its super smooth and clean.

thanks for the reply, any other opinions, oh mighty XDA?
Fission 2.2.2 seems to be running great for me. Had some issues with earlier versions, but 2.2.2 is smooth, and great battery life over stock for sure. Squidlymandigo has a nice one too and has a way to disable haptic feeback for real.
I'd go with Fission.
Honestly the stock ROM is perfectly good to me. I've rooted (z4) for wifi tethering, but beyond that have really found no reason to change. I don't use any blur widgets (not many widgets at all, actually) and LauncherPro is plenty UI customization for me. Since the recent update (2.3.20) battery life is fine - I can go two days on light use - again, my widget and background task list is very light.
I'll ROM when I feel the need to, but I haven't found a real need yet.
Yea I agree that the stock 2.3.2 blur is really good. I am not knocking the fission dev's because some people need plain android but I think moto did a good job with this version. Rooted you can really make the blur run great.
Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
Rooted blur with titanium backup makes a great phone. it tuns smooth when all the bloatware is removed. if you like a aosp like experiance then i recomend going with fission. though modding the phone yourself is more fun when you learn more.

i used to think you needed a rom to make a phone good but that was me coming from wack android phones......im digging the rooted stock pretty well
just overclock......you wont complain about blur being slow anymore
Hi, i did not want to make a new thread so I'll post in this one. I'm from UK and I'm new user of MM2. My phone is sim free but I'm on contract with o2 with SE x10 ( don't buy this phone!) and here I come to my question, I cannot update to 2.3 or 2.23 or what ever the newest software is. Is the new software available in certain countries or networks ? I'm on 2.2. BTW Blur looks quite good better than sense ui in htc's but its a bit slow sometimes but new update can solve this issue. Regards
Squidly with or without blur and he's started porting some themes with permission from a few devs. Started using before fission became what it is now, but i'm not having problems.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Squidley's worked well for me also. The only issue I had was after time, memory seemed to shrink, until reboot. No apps appeared to be running, or in the services. But other then that, squidley's was probably the rom that seemed to have the least issues. For me anyways. But fission 2.2.2 is working great for me!
Noob here
Sorry if this is a stupid question!
first of all here is the info on my droid2 under about phone:
system version= verizon.2.3.20.a955.verizon.en.us
android version= 2.2
baseband= bp_c_01.09.07p
kernal= 2.6.32.9-g462500f
my phone is rooted and deodexed and i am looking for themes i can flash but i get confused when reading post and they refer to the ver 2.2 or 2.3.1.5 do i need to be concerned with the theme matching the android version or the system version or both.
Any help would be great!
thx in advance.

Miui

Just so everyone knows I've been running miui 9.2 for about an hour now and no wifi drops. I didn't see it posted yet and can't post in that thread yet. Found it on rom manager.

Running flawlessly since early Friday, MIUI.us 9.2. It just keeps getting better. Kick-in wildstang83's DTR method, and it's a great Android experience. I've stuck with MIUI.us for a long time, and it's really grown to something beautiful.

it's a lot more pretty than CM7 in a lot of ways but it can have it's laggy/buggy moments, particularly the launcher (little on the slow side)
I use a different launcher anyways. I dont like the MIUI iPhone style icons.
When i first try the MIUI roms, it was an amazing rom, but by the updates and all, it get bugged and bugged, i get back to sense <3.
I ran MIUI when it first got released, did not really like it. I installed it again figuring i have a long weekend i will give it a run. Damn i think i'm in love. the customization is crazy and quick. the rom is buttery smooth. I am having a few problems with handcent and plume but nothing deal breaking. Great rom my new daily driver.
I also installed this rom over the weekend and so far so good. I have all my apps sorted in folders which makes things much easier
Have been running MIUI since May, updating every week with new releases and I can't go to another ROM. I have tried but I end up running right back to MIUI. Really amazing work.
I've been debating whether or not to install it, haven't been able to take the plunge yet. Looks like a great ROM tho
I have run miui quite a few times, but cm7 has always been the most reliable for me... just my opinion.

The key I've found to MIUI is to find a version that runs bug free on your phone and stick with it until another comes out with an update that you really care about. I generally keep the version I'm on for ~1 month because I don't want to deal with the chance of that weeks minor updates screwing something up.
Is it just me or is half this ROM in chineese. Have I messed up or is that just the nature of this ROM

Did you download from miui.us? Or from somewhere else. Miui.us takes care of all of the translation into English and I haven't seen any Chinese in the builds I run from them.

There's Chinese in the online section of the theme manager but that's really all I've ever seen.

It is a good Rom, the dev team knows what they are doing. However with a stock interface that leaves a lot to be desired in the customization department..... I switched to adw launcher.... then figured why not go back to cm7 that has adw as it's native launcher.....
Um, did you notice the theme manager?

TEAM BLISS Sense 3.5

I have never done this before, and I am not affiliated with the Dev team, aside from being a huge fan of them, but I just wanted to let everyone in the Incredible community to know about a Rom that Team Bliss ported over which is currently running sense 3.5 I just started using this Rom this morning and it is by far the BEST sense Rom I have ever used. The Rom is only in beta stages now but it is already good enough to run as a daily, at least for me. All the main functions work, 3G, WiFi, GPS etc. Also you can receive MMS while WiFi is on! There are still a few bugs here and there but nothing that can't be fixed by this dream team of Devs. Please try the Rom and if you like it donate to the team or at least hit the thanks button. THANK YOU SO MUCH TEAM BLISS, I feel like I got a brand new phone.

I completely agree, although I'm currently running Wildstang's 3.0 rom that is smooth as hell, that new rosie seems very intriguing.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!
Agreed. It is very stable for being in Beta. If it wasn't for that pesky Camera FC, internal storage issues, and not being able to see the skins/wallpapers this ROM would most likely be considered a stable or at least a good DD.
Need help
I am looking for an oc kernel for the new bliss team rom with 3.5 sense. Any help would be appreciated
Good luck with that Steaven.
Cam fc is due to the cam being in Burst mode, change modes and the fc goes away. HDR works great. Unfortunately the default is burst so you have to change it every time.
Can't wait to see where this Rom ends up. We can make this thread a discussion about it so we don't fill the ot with our blaberings.

There's one kernel with OC support that works on gingerbread sense ROMs and that's mine and I don't recommend it for this ROM as you'll lose the ability to mount the sdcard to copy and view files from the PC. Run stock if you want that working, otherwise you can use my kernel in the development section. It's a quick ROM from what I used without overclocking.
Some cool tricks I found. Can't put my phone down lol.
You can change the tabs on the new quick launch widget by dragging it to the edit circle on the bottom left of the screen. Beats erasing it over and over to edit.
Also you can change the tabs on the bottom of screen on some apps like People and Phone. Hit menu/more/edit tabs.
I will be using the app boot manager to multi boot this rom. not really worried about the sd card not mounting as cm7 will be my phone rom and can someone post a link to tiny's kernel?
Been keeping my eye on this one, these guys ( devs) really rock! The time and dedication they put into theses Rome is truly appreciated.
my Dinc
I'm running it right now, and I think it's great. It's a little slow, but it sure is pretty to look at.
I hope the devs fix the browser so it properly word-wraps text when you zoom in.

Well in the development forums you should find it. I think it's called HTC bliss sense 3.5
This project has been cancelled due to a better more compatible version of 3.5 on the Runnymede. Newtoroot just released a beta version, which is fantastic. If anyone was looking to try Bliss I would check out Runny first.

Try Downgrading Your MIUI
I feel your pain, man, I had the same problem. I read in multiple places that MIUI 1.12.23 and above had dialer issues, so try downgrading to an earlier version of MIUI or join us here at ICS.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon, I really like this ROM except for that. And I'm job hunting, so i definitely need to be able to answer calls!

In my opinion, it's not a bad time to upgrade to ICS. Ever since they got the Camera working, there's not a lot of crucial features missing. If you've been using MIUI for awhile I think you'll be a little more patient than others when it comes to 4G.
If you decide to upgrade, I highly recommend the ICS ROM in my signature. It's by far the fastest and most stable I've seen.

They're both nice, I just found that deck's is a little faster and more stable. Maybe speed and stability fixes were incorporated in Evervolv 2.1.0p5...
Either way, I'm still waiting for an RC before I flash it

[Q] Latest, hottest ROM

I was on Legendary and then SimpleROM but I'm ready for a change as long as it is stable (like the ones I just mentioned). I tried reading the threads but they keep changing and some are very long.
Just wondering if someone knows since I have been on only this 2 ROMs for nearly a year.

Try out CM9.
It's pretty popping fresh.
Also, MIUI.
And in the future, we discourage best ROM threads.
Depends on how you use your phone. CM9 beta 0 is stable for a daily ROM. But If your a power user like on your phone nonstop then you will find yourself wanting a charger.
Also gotta ask the question to you want to move to the MTD side.... best bet is to read up on everything, then test out different roms till you find one that you like.
Sent from a CM9 powered Epic.
If you want a good stable Rom the marcusant rom version3 and the shake and bake theme are a nice combo. Also cm9 is also kinda nice but its still in beta
Threads are long because everyone is trying to butt hurt everyone else, and there are a lot of useless postings (such as this one). Just be sure whatever rom you use has the appropriate thanks, documentation and GPL reference or you will get blasted even as just a user.
Just try them all, go nuts, have fun! Just be sure to do whatever you can to brick your device so you can provide yourself with the logical reasoning to upgrade as quickly as possible.
Sent from my, is it safe to claim, personally semi-tweaked (but not shared) and still therefore kanged??? sammiEpic running some CM9b0 shiznizzle.....
Thanks to all that offered good advise and options.
And to clarify a few points:
1 - I did not ask what was the best ROM (I know better than that).
2 - I respect the advise of the users here and do not wish to try them all. It simply takes too much time when all the ROMs say to wipe everything clean including data. It's a very long process putting everything back the way it was. The last 2 updates I did did not update my programs so I had to install them all manually plus their data. And as some of you may know, restoring from backup is not always a good thing to do.
So... I really appreciate those that provided a few options for me to try. Will do soon. And btw I alway provide feedback to the thread on the ROMs that I try. Comes from being a technology administrator for many years.
Thanks again,
tsp

In order for someone to answer this you have to let people know how you use your phone. Are you hooled on the Touchwiz interface? Then it would require some work and getting similiar apps for CM7, CM9 or any other AOSP ROM. If you just want to update to the newer firmware and like how your phone is running now, then Sleeper or CleanGB. If you need more app space then you want to go to an MTD ROM like CleanGB MTD. At least read the OP's of any ROM you are considering to know all the features.

CM9 ICS
I've been using CM9 ICS since alpha 2 and I had to Odin my phone back to stock for some weird reason. It was so strange seeing the stock interface after using ICS. "I can't swipe notifications away? What is this vertical scrolling? Bloatware???" So yeah, beta 0 seems good enough for me for now, plus the battery life is way better than stock.
CM9 for sure. The only real issue was the phantom voicemail but there is a fix for it now (as of today).
Loving the CM9. It's like a new phone!

Tried CM9 and it was allot more stable than I expected. However it still needs work and is not as solid as stock. The lag overall started to annoy me along with other things like garbled text messaging, 4G issues, occasional reboots, and no visual voicemail, but the devs are doing a great job.
I am on Clean GB right now and will jump back to Thunderhawk when Random updates to El30.
Dont flame my opinion, please.
