[Q] Darktremor Apps2SD - A7 General

Does Darktremor Apps2SD work ok on the Elocity A7?

I have tried it but, it seems the mount point for A7 is not what the program expects so things end up on internal storage instead of sd card. /sd and /mnt/sd appear to point at internal locations, OEM has hosed this one.

Want to use the 2GB internal memory for apps - how?

Hey there,
the U8800 has a 2GB partition which isn't used at all when an external SD-card is installed.
The internal 2GB partition is mounted to /HWUserData and is accessible. Now I want to use it for my apps. With the typical App2SD-apps that are available in the market I cannot move the apps to this partition. They are always moved to the external card.
Moving the apps manually is not very helpful as Android treats them as install-packages when I open them within the file manager.
tl;dr: The 2GB-partition does only show up within the file manager, how can i use it for apps etc.?

Thank your for your answer; I do not want to use that program; I fear voiding the warranty. I have no problem with installing custom-ROMs, but I won't change the partitions of the internal memory.
I'll take out the external SD-card for a moment, maybe I can install the apps to the 2GB-part then...
Seriously, why does Huawei include 2GB of memory if it is not usable?
Use the default apps2sd option.
I've been thinking about this myself and thought about changing the mount points so the internal 2GB SD is formatted as ext then linked to /sd-ext and used as an a2sd partition. The advantage is that, unlike normal a2sd, you will still be able to remove the microSD card.
The problem would be that recovery images wouldn't like this as they always expect a2sd to be the second partition on the microSD. It would also stop the backups from working..
It's something I'll need to think about a lot.

That is exactly what I want to do. a2sd simply does not recognize the partition as it expects it to be a second partition within the external sd. Could changing the mount point resolve this issue? Where would I even mount it to? The external card will still be the one recognized (or not?)..

[Q] SD Card Method Android Link2SD

Hello Guys
I would like to know that if my SD Card 16GB has partition into 2 primary drive - FAT32, EXT3; and my android system is running on FAT32 partition, can I run the Link2SD to put all apps into EXT3 partition?
I try it and it shows the manual of the mounting partition. However, it shows the error message of mounting /dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed. I would like to use it even it is in SD version of Android so that I can minimize the usage of internal ROM. I use the traditional App2SD and the memory is gradually reduced when I install new apps.
Thanks

SD Android uses no ROM. The applications are stored on what is read by the system as 'internal storage' but is actually a data.img file which is normally 1gb, therefore you already have 1gb of your SD card dedicated to storage of apps. I don't know if you still would like A2SD despite this, but I thought this would probably influence your decision.

Thanks for your reply. When downloading apps, Android will treat it storage at the internal storage, that is, the memory reduces very fast. Using App2SD will help to show higher memory storage, which is similar to NAndroid. However, the memory is still lowered as it seems to move the apps only to outside, keeping data internally. Therefore, it can download up to 60-70 apps, but it is impossible to store like 200apps. Link2SD could solve it, but I cannot link to EXT3 after using it. Any suggestion on it?

[Q] Help i9500 S4 : internal SD card not mounted and vanished

Hello,
Will try to explain the situation to my best possible knowledge :
1. Was running Crash ROM 4.4.2 on Galaxy S4 i9500 , have got all the required apps installed and configured the way I wanted.
2. Running the stock kernel which comes with the Crash ROM installation.
3. Running Phillz touch recovery 6.3.xx
4. Have external micro sd card (16GB UHC SanDisk) . Crated 1st primary partition as FAT32 and 2nd primary as Ext3 for moving apps.
5. Did install Link2SD and correctly moved all apps linked to the 2nd external SD card partition.
6. Was able to connect a USB flash drive via female USB connector (host mode) and take titanium backup of all apps.
7. Everything mounted correctly and automatically, with correct permissions to read/write without me worrying or fixing any setting or changing anything.
Since I had everything in order, I thought of making a nandroid backup via Phillz recovery . The problem when I tried taking a nandroid baclup which presents custom backup option to either "/sdcard" or "/storage/sdcard1 (which i assume refers to external microSD card".
I tried taking a backup at both locations and was informed that I am short of space , the backup needed 4+GB whereas I had 2+GB on internal SD and 3+ GB on external microSD available.
So i thought to reboot and try making some space anywhere, thats when the nightmare started.
After reboot, now there was
1. A message for low space remaining
2. Google play store continually crashing and giving a "stopped" message.
I fixed the error no. 2 temporarily by uninstalling google play store (updates, cache and then the app itself).
However error no.1 persists, now when try running any app to see what and how much space is left in the internal and external SD cards, it seems that the internal SD card is not mounted somehow.
I have tried runnning ES explorer and it says no SD card found. Even though I can browse to the root partition. Then I tried Link2SD (which has an option of seeing storage info nicely) and I can that the bar for SD card is blank and all other places or mount points are mounted.
Even the apps residing on my external microSD 2nd partition are working fine, however I noticed that earlier the external microSD card, when seen from inside a booted and loaded ROM was mounted at the location " /storage/extSDcard , but now it is mounted at "/mnt/media_rw/extSDcard"
But my internal SD card is vanished, I cannot find any contents of the "internal SD" in any of the locations at /storage , /storage/emulated/legacy, /storage/emulated/0, /sdcard, /mnt/sdcard, /mnt/obb and possibly any other location I can think of.
I believe the mount points and logical links are different as seen by the phillz recovery (as there is no /storage/sdcard1 when seen from Es explorer) , and as seen when the ROM is fully booted and loaded, so when trying to take a nandroid backup via Phillz recovery, it might have messed up with the mount points and/or permissions.
I hate doing a complete re-flash of the ROM again and spending hours to get all the apps customized my desired way, with all widget settings.
I am not an expert or pro at android, hence I request your help to sort out the issue, and maybe send or guide me the default way the S4 handles mount points, so I can get back the SD card and also guide me how to make a the nandroid backup to avoid this fiasco again.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] how to use app Data from External micro SD

I want to use app data from sd card (since internal memory is just 4.2 gb including application storage and data as well) what should i do, Am i suppose to do swapping ?? or some thing else?? kindly help..
I'm not sure what you mean, but if you're running low on internal storage, here's what I did for a fix:
First, apply one of the myriad of options for allowing any app to read/write the external SD.
Get the xinternalsd xposed module.
Tell it to make everything point to the external uSD card.
Then move everything from the internal emulated SD card to the external.
That will probably clear up a ton of space.
If you're still running low, clean up the app caches. If you really have 4GB of apps and data on internal storage, 1GB is probably caches.

Are you rooted? do you have a large SD Card which you do not swap out?
On my previous phone it only had 420MB of user space for apps. I created a 2GB EXT4 partition (could of been 32GB on my 64GB card if I wanted), then used Int2EXT system to move all the apps to the partition on the SD.

Apps2SD (on the Market) performs the same thing, with a front end

Capacitive Android Head Unit - Red Mod 0.1.6 - Can't mount external storage. Help

I installed App2SD (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd&hl=en) on my head unit in hopes to create symlinks between my internal and external storage to free up my internal storage to install more apps. In process of doing so it needed to partition my external SD card. I selected FAT32 & ext2. After it rebooted I found that my SDCard, USB Flash Drives, and External SD card were no longer mounted. Infact they dont even appear at all in ES File explorer as if they didnt exist. Looking in storage, I do not get an option to format my SD card or USB drives. I took them to my PC and confirmed they are still FAT32. I reformatted my Micro SD Card from my PC and although it was successful it did not bring any of my external devices back.
I cannot mount the SD card.
Errors Im getting
The above is the original mounting point of my External SD Card, taken from External 2 Internal - it is no longer mounting and External 2 Internal no longer even sees it when I scan for additional devices.
This is what appears to be currently mounted.
Additional troubleshooting I took.
If anyone could help I really need it because I cannot reinstall redmod without the device being able to read the external SD card, I also cannot listen to any of my music or access any of my apps that were moved to the SD Card. Also can anyone show me how to properly create symlinks using that app without losing all my mounts?
