Guide to Add Multitouch Rotation to Your Google Map 5.0 - Adam General

First you need Root Access to your Adam device and ability to text edit those files. There are several options - (1) ADB if you have it installed already or (2) Root Explorer (File Manager) by Speed Software in the Android Market (not free, but easiest method). Make sure R/W is enable in Root Explorer
1. Find /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml
2. scroll down in the text and find this line: <feature name="android.hardware.touchscreen" />
3. Add the following code following it:
<feature name="android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch" />
<feature name="android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch.distinct" />
delete the space between distinct
4. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CODE!!!!
5. Menu Button ==> Save and Exit
6. Restart your Adam
7. Have fun~
Good Luck!

special thanks for ptok for helping and suggesting how to enable this!

Cool, I thought it would be a fairly easy tweak to get that working. Looks very smooth, can wait to see it on my NI this week.

Keeewl. Can anyone tell me btw , how many points can be used in Adam's muliti touch ? 2 ? mb 5? or mb 10?) I guess it's only two

Two only it seems. I tried adding the code for jazztouch that's only found in 2.3 gingerbread, and it did not work. Tested it withmultitouch visualizarvisualizar

I think it has to do with the digitizer. My Sprint EVO with stock froyo detects 5 points, there were two versions, one with 3 point another with 5 point. Although you have to flash a custom kernel with 5 point enabled on the EVO, it would only work if you had the right screen.
I think there was initial mention that the Adam would come with 10 point in earlier blog posts. Wishes =/ cost effective, probably didn't allow for that..

According to the post/link on that thread this app has "unlimited" multi touch testing, not limited to 2-4,5 like others..

Tried it but looks like it requires the xml files for multitouch and multitouch distinct...

There is a space too many in "dist inct"
Ie replace "dist inct" by "distinct".
That added multitouch rotation to my Desire. No need for other types of XML files.
Can't imagine it being different for Adam.

Q-Mobile MusicID QVGA

I know, I know...I'm late to the party. Hopefully the quality of the release will make up for the tardiness. I'm still running a Kaiser (just couldn't convince myself the Diamond was actually better--and I'm still crossing my fingers that the Touch HD will get released with TMO 1700Mhz support).
Anyway, without further ado...this version of MusicID is based from the 1.3.16 source from 1800pocketpc.com which is of course released by AT&T. The changes are as follows:
Converted for QVGA (320x240) support. The conversion was done using image resources from the non-touch screen version so they look just fine. Furthermore all fonts have been converted as well. (I'd like to give credit to lepsyfou here, he did give everyone something to use at least even though the images looked poor and the fonts were large. Were it not for finding his original conversion that got me hooked on the app itself I probably never would have made my own conversion).
Removed UID information from query strings. For those that didn't check, the application for download on these forums (and other sites) actually makes all requests under the guise of someone's account (presumably whoever released the app). I won't post their account # here but suffice it to say that if they ever shut off the service everyone using that app would find it stops working. Hopefully that won't happen here.
Removed all AT&T specific features. This also means that all the buttons present after a successful identification have been removed. #1 they are completely useless for anyone not on the AT&T network; and #2 they were pretty much pointless (from my perspective) in the first place. As a side benefit see the next item.
Due to the removal of AT&T specific features I found it convenient to download a larger cover image photo for the album...maybe this will be enjoyed by others as well
Updated the help pages and removed redundant (or now unused) entries.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
If you've never installed any version of MusicID before simply install the cab. If however you have installed a previous version pay close attention:
Remove any previously installed version of MusicID.
It is absolutely MANDATORY to remove the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MusicID folder and its contents. If you're an advanced user and are using any of the conn* entries you can leave those but remove all others. If that last statement doesn't make any sense to you then simply remove the entire MusicID key (and all entries contained therein) prior to installation.
I highly recommend removing your \Application Data\MusicID folder and contents. This is due to the fact that the application now expects 150x* size images. The only issue with old images should be a slight off-center display though so it is up to you.
Appreciate the hard work!

Nah, there's plenty of pictures in reviews and other forum topics. Just imagine it looking proper and working well on QVGA screens and you've pretty much got it. Most of the hours I spent were on the under-the-hood modifications not the visual aspects, the latter being quite easy (relatively speaking).
awesome work... looks great... except for the hideous purple and orange parts... but thats not ur fault, i blame at&t for that....
one question though... did you remove the album info on the id? i thought it was there before...
oh, and the album art is much nicer now... thanks!
p.s. the program seems a LOT snappier now too
Lateness
Late is perfectly fine, as long as you're arriving in style....and holy **** is all I have to say. Excellent work - the graphics are perfect and the program is flawless as usual. Great Work!!!
dude. this is unbelievable. i listen to progressive trance, which isn't widely publicized and it still recognizes most of my tracks.

Hi, thanks for the cab, one question this is for tactile screen or non tactile?

Great work. The fonts, touchscreen and album art are perfect.
One correction for your first post: the key to be removed is HKLM/Software/MusicID, not HKLM/MusicID. That might confuse some people.

You have to edit your build.prop file in /system/ directory. I used root explorer, but you should be able to use any file explorer with root access. Then change the media.stagefright. lines to "=false" (they're toward the bottom)
Edit: almost forgot, after the changes, reboot.
Also, backup the original file to be safe.

this does work, but at the sacrifice of all video content (including breaking a few games as well, according to some people).
The only other option is updating the stagefright files but a lot of people say this stops android from booting (had this happen to myself), so the only recourse is the stagefright=false fix as posted above. Search this forum and you will find the answers you're looking for as it's been posted LOTS

This may only affect the Desire HD roms (like the MDeeJay Froyo HD that I'm running) and not the non-HD versions. There were a lot of people saying they were having the video not working problem when disabling the stagefright player. there's a thread about it here that covers it a lot.
Just try hastarin 7.7 kernel. Should do the job.

Xoom - Root Explorer

Hello all,
I have installed Root Explorer for the purposes of deleting all the unneeded apps that exist on my Xoom. Is there a document that explains where I should be looking for said apps, and how do I delete them successfully. I have varying degrees of success in this, and wanted to make sure I do it right the first time out.
Thanks,

All the apps are in system/app/. You have to have root and there is no backups so be careful.

I've never seen a document. But it's not hard to figure out. 1st you have to be rooted. If so, then go to > system > apps. Touch the "R/O " button at the top so that it turns to "R/W". Then touch the Xoom "menu" button at the bottom of the screen (looks like a rectangular grid) and select "multi -select ". Touch/select the apps you want to delete. Then touch the delete button, which will appear at the bottom. Take care what you delete. Alternatively, you can create a new folder called "app.disabled " and just move the apps that you don't want until you are sure. Hope this helps.

Be warned that if you delete apps, even the games, future updates will not work automatically. Rename the extension of the apps you don't like or make a backup before deleting.

Netflix for Android Launched Officially

According to the announcement, the Nexus S (which is a Galaxy S with a curved screen, NFC, and GB) is supported for streaming, even though it's supposed to only be available for Snapdragons, and not yet for Hummingbird.
Anyone manage to snag the APK yet? It won't let me install from the Market, even though even Google thinks I'm running a Nexus S (when in reality, it's just a Fascinate with CM7).

Using that version of the app just gives you a message saying the phone is unsupported for streaming. Would changing the ID of the device in the build.prop or something similar be enough to fool Netflix?

If I can get my hands on the build.prop from either the Nexus S on AT&T or the Nexus S 4G, then I might be able to figure out the pertinent tweaks to make the Fascinate appear as either of those to the app when it tries to stream.
If it runs and streams on the NS, then the purported hardware limitation that was supposed to be there doesn't exist, and they're implementing the device lockout entirely in software. This means it will be easy to hack around, and probably be able to do so cleanly without hammering any important settings for the phone.
Edit: The Incredible (and presumably, by extension, the Thunderbolt) is supported, so it's not a carrier lockout, either. This tells me that it's only software, which is heartening.

Ok, so I was in the virus kingdom rom thread and seen this asked a couple of times.
I found this info on another site, I'll past the link in a few but here are the instructions...
So how’s it done? Well, the instructions are actually fairly straightforward, and come courtesy of tipster/redditor natemckn:
Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup! (I accidentally deleted by build.prop file and bootlooped my phone)
Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor)
In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes
Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)
Open & edit /system/build.prop
Change the following lines to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Reboot the phone
Install the netflix apk (if you haven’t already)
Enjoy
Update: Apparently you don’t need to do the lines that are crossed out in Step 6 – only the product model and manufacturer need to be changed.Also, it appears that this is hit-or-miss at the moment. Works for some, partially (but not really) for others.
Heres the link,, if its not clickable its because I'm doing this from my phone, so copy and paste.

Afaik, our cm7 builds are missing a lot of codecs... this could be part of your video problems.

* The Netflix app runs on these phones:
1. HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
2. HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
3. HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2
4. HTC G2 with Android 2.2
5. Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3.
Thank you for repeating the information that we already know.
We're aware of the devices it works on, we're trying to make our devices masquerade as one of those in an attempt to get streaming working.
Not much luck so far. Time to work now. Might hack on it some more tonight.
The apk running around here doesn't work, either. At least not on 2.2.
Ok, so I said I was going to quit, but it's just too juicy.
Here's what I've found:
Work on Nexus S with GB. The NS is identical to the rest of the Galaxy S line from a hardware standpoint (with the exception of the NFC and curved screen, which have nothing to do with things). The only difference between them is the software.
Some more digging revealed that the key difference in a device working or not working is the Stagefright media framework, which is supposed to be the stock setup in 2.2, but OEMs mostly felt like they needed to hack it out in favor of their own stuff.
So... To get this working on the Fascinate, we need one of the following:
1. A CM7/AOSP GB build with working video codecs (we're almost there on that point)
2. A CM6/AOSP FroYo build with Stagefright media framework in place.
3. A custom ROM with the Stagefright framework hacked in.

The ROM is a bit ugly to be honest - they colored it in the company colors (red and grey) and it's not to my taste. That said, it IS a matter of taste.
It does have some interesting design features, like tabs in the settings screen and a lot of customizable features, including even memory and IO tweaks.
That said, as with previous devices from Xtreamer - I do find the external design - specifically the capacitive hard-buttons, confusing and archaic. The menu button is on the far left, followed by the home button, the 'Back' button and the should-be-defunct 'Search' button. Recent apps is accessible by long-pressing the Home button of all things, long pressing the menu button pops up voice search, and generally speaking it's a bit out-of-touch with current smartphone design and specifically google's design guidelines.
As for stability, I had no issues so far. It's snappy and responsive, and nothing I threw at it (which wasn't much yet - just got it yesterday evening) slowed it down.
The camera DOES in fact have a LED flash.
Also, the back plastic battery cover of the device doubles as a fold screencover, which while stylish is also a bit redundant, given that it's not even a smartcover - and NOT optional (at least with the device I received).

Strangely enough the android version doesn't appear in the settings menu.
Had to check with getprop which returned 4.0.3 (which is strange given that it runs Google Now - but that's probably a port).
As for source files - I do not have those, and even if I did I probably wouldn't feel comfortable sharing them.

Software version is "Xtreamer DeckOS 3.3.18"
Kernel is 3.0.15
Thanks, other question, the camera video in newman2/l20 is bad and bugs(os/software), much ghosting etc, maybe in xtreamer soft is more fine? please try make a video and comments your think

Yup, same with the Xtreamer. I can't tell if it's because of bad image stabilization or whatnot, but it's very blurry and very apparent (less so in daylight). Here's an example video:
Thanks you very much, damm, this camera supposetly is a "Exmor RS" (Xperia Z), what? is ridiculous many bugs, when video camera mode is switched only see the last actual focus on camera mode.. bugs everywhere...
I wonder if they'll fix these problems(newman/xtreamer etc), ghosting and main focus errors, this camera should be much better than this, I do not understand ...
I think its really sad that they havent put a dual sim option in it because thats what made me look into Xtreamer mobile in the first place
I now run the Xtreamer OS on my Freelander i20. Stable and smooth so far! It's version 3.2.18 though, so there should be an update to 3.3.18 soon.
