hero won't boot, except for fastboot

hi there.
ive bought a refurbed hero from "3" uk, however it doesn't boot. it wont go into recovery either (home+pwr).
it will go into the fastboot though (pwr+back).
the phone connects to the pc, and the pc finds the phone using "fastboot devices" and "adb devices".
i tried flashing a custom RA recovery, however i received the message "failed remote not allow".
googling it, i found out it is because of the hboot being 1.76....... which needs flashrec to install a custom recovery. problem is i cant boot the phone to use flashrec.
basically is the phone screwed?
ive called 3 and they are sending a replacement on monday. i will then have to send the old one back to them myself, meaning ive got a few days to make sure the new one works etc, check condition.
thing is the one i have now is perfect and new looking. i could receive a slightly damaged working one on monday, so i want to see if there is anything i can do to fix it.
thanks for any help
What happens when you try to boot up normally? ... Anything?
How about without the SD in?... Does it make a difference?
when i boot up normally, it displays a thin "hero" logo, then after a while displays a htc logo with a green alien popping out.
a minute after that, it starts all over again until the battery is pulled.
tried with and without an sdcard, and no difference.
Flash a new official rru from HTC. If you can't do that you should be able to create a goldcard and flash a the rru that way. Check out parts of my guide and make up the rest.
i just got it sorted.
i downloaded the ruu, tried it while in fastboot mode. it didnt work, so i looked through your goldcard thread, and realised i hadnt got adb setup 100% (device manager had it down as android device or something, so did as instructed in the thread).
connected it up to the pc while in fastboot mode, then ran the ruu. it worked this time!
thanks alot for the help. its saved me alot of hassle sending the phone back.

[Q] LG G2 D802 Trouble. Black Screen. No Recovery/Download Mode

Hello together!
I just got my new LG G2 D802 32gb today and wanted cyanogen on it. Well it was already rooted by the pre-owner so i just installed TWRP BUT I made the mistake to install it for D801 instead of D802. (Too hasty )
Well when the phone rebooted after the installation it stucked in fastboot and I was starting to freak out. I was searching for a solution but I just came from Apple to Android so its all kind of new. I saw this post and tried it.
reddit.com/r/lgg2/comments/1soiyj/stuck_in_fastboot_mode_need_help/
I erased the data as described. Worked just fine. Then I tried to flash the new data but it didnt work and after a while I restarted the phone (Why not I thought, usually always helps)
Well now the screen is, and stays, black. And it wont Turn on. No matter how long I press the Power Button. Also I cant access the Download nor the recovery mode. So I cant restock. When I connect the phone to my laptop it shows a crapload of drives on my laptop. From E to S everything. 15 Local Disks overall. Well just one of them is accessable. E:. On the drive is one single folder: Images. But its secured so I cant add anything to it (I hoped I could add the Images I just erased eralier manually). 63.9MB is its capacity.
Neither fastboot nor ADB can access the the phone now.
Pressing the Power Button of the phone while connected reconnects it to the computer.
I dont know what to do I am completely helpless :crying:
I appreciate every help!
Thanks!
Linus

[Q] Problems with LG Official update software

Hi there,
I installed the LG software update app, and when I plugged in my phone it did some checking and said that there was an update available.
So I clicked OK, waited for ages for the kdz package to download, and then it started the update.
Problem is, it gets to 14% on the phone screen (20% on my computer) and then it hangs for a while. Eventually the PC app says "upgrade stopped due to an error". Now my phone is constantly stuck on the Firmware Upgrade screen, even when I restart it, and I can't even ADB onto it, or use Linux to view it (as mentioned in a different post).
I can't get into download mode or recovery mode... just this Firmware Upgrade screen.
Any ideas what I can do? I stupidly thought that - as it was an official upgrade - it wouldn't screw up my phone... how stupid do I feel ???
Anything I can try? My phone is an LG G2 International (D802) version.
Thanks a lot,
JM
@MOD, sorry - I realised my OP was in the wrong place, so moved it here

Nope - can't get into any other mode than this "Update" mode... gonna try a few tools. Was trying to salvage my stuff, but it's not the end of the world to wipe it.
Thanks,

Problem solved! Try the .TOT method shown here:

The .KDZ method didn't work for me, from this post or any other. The .TOT method worked first time!

soft bricked Nexus 7 [solved]

Hey guys,
so my device turns on but i don't get anything past a blank screen. I've tried to do a factory reset, and I've tried to flash stock but it won't recognize fastboot at all, and I can't even find the tablet in my device manager.
Anyone able to help?
Thanks in advance.
Update
I've gotten it to show up in device manager. I tried to use the toolkit to go to stock and unroot, but got attachment number 1, and then when I tried to do it by hand based on the guide, I got attached number two. So Fastboot sees the device, but when I try to run a command it doesn't work.
Update 2
I put it down for the night last night after getting really frustrated and picked it back up this morning. I switched out the USB cord and finally got the erasing to work by hand, but it wouldn't flash the file because it had "too many links" on the second attempt it ran out of memory. So i tried the toolkit and got invalid arguments again. I went back to doing it by hand and still had invalid arguments. Unplugged, replugged and by hand worked for the erasing, but still not for flashing. Unplugged, replugged, tried the toolkit and it all worked wonderfully.

LG G2 (D802) dead after attempting to boot into recovery

Hey guys,
I have a REALLY STRANGE problem....
Half an hour ago my phone was working as normal. I then checked what TWRP version was installed. The TWRP-manager has shown me that TWRP-2.6.3.2-g2d802.img should be installed. But the update/installation using this TWRP-manager failed with a message regarding "security certificate..." or something else.
After that I thought it would be a good idea to put the recovery.img file onto the storage and doing an update/installation after booting into the recovery mode. I used the app "Quick Boot" from the Google Playstore and selected "Recovery Boot".
After THIS my phone went Off and seems now to be DEAD !
No buttton is working anymore! Loudness(+) and Power....nothing, Loudness(-) and Power...nothing, Onle the Power button...nothing !
When I connect the phone to my PC using an USB-cable, Windows7 shows me a lot of new small windows telling me to format the Drive before I can use it !!???
WTF happened ? I really need any help to get it working/running !!!
I'm frustrated..... :crying:
100000000000000 Thanks in Advance !!!
obiwan
