[Q] [Question] MIUI 1.1.28 build SD (Dual boot WP7) - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Has anyone gotten MIUI to work on on HTC HD2... I cant seem to make the SD version work... im having a very had time making it work... and i would really like to see this as my second OS on my phone.

JAWS Miui works well for me on NAND, and I previously used it on SD.
I've not got it working with WP7, but you should be able to get the old JAWS-MIUI SD build to work with it.
Here'e the NAND thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902013
And here's the SD thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857443
Or is this the one you've been having trouble with already?
It's a shame nobody is updating a MIUI SD build, as I'd love to try WP7, but without the option of dual booting with a decent MIUI build, I'm not going to bother yet.

Wp7 nand and Miui on sd is the perfect combo!

Since before the release of wp7 rom i have been anticipating the dual boot of windows phone with Miui on sd. Miui on sd is the most stable and complete of all the sd roms in my opinion but is seems development on miui sd roms have come to a halt. I think miui would be good on the sd because like i said it is the most complete and up to date build on sd. It seems to me that wp7 NEEDS to be on nand because otherwise it would be unusably slow. I have been so confused and in limbo waiting until i can run wp7 (because it is new and different) and Miui on sd because it is the BEST rom out there for the hd2 least problems and most AWESOME. I hope to see future development. I for one would love to have dual boot hd2 with partitioned sd running wp7 and 2.3 miui! (i know it dont exist yet).

The links you gave me were the exact versions i have problems with... i can get to the loading screen then it freezes... what im looking for now is a way to maybe edit this to make it work... but until then i might just reflash my whole system as i like the android system better than the WP7

Installed MIUI 1.1.28 NAND... took out the WP7... its a whole lot faster and better... I still want the WP7 but until devs fix MIUI ill wait.

Use this, just apply the language pack you need.

This is what I was looking for Miui on the sd super smooth and the wp7 nand pretty smooth. This is awesome thanks for the find. I always have a hard time around those translated forums (miui-developers). Now I just need to scour the search threads to find out how to apply the language pack!

Since I'm not to familiar with the update zips method, I downloaded the language pack from miui-dev and extracted it. Then within the updates provided in the build there is one with all the system files and etc. Just replace those with the ones from the language pack and it should all work. This is just a crude way of doing it but it works.

I have successfully put the English translation files and everything is working (and English), but I have no data. I think some other people on that forum were having the same issue with this one. When fixed, this is a keeper!

Well ****! i get data just fine BUT when i applied language pack via push adb i keep getting force close android.process.???? I cant remember the last part but it worked fine prior.

Futureshocks
Yes, I got it working but it took a while.
Use Futureshocks MIUI VERSION 7.0. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851678
You'll notice lots of Chinese so download your preferred language pack - create a folder named Root in the futureshocks.miui.german folder and put the language pack in there. In the /system/app folder of the language pack you'll see lot's of apk's - take out all but settings.apk and FM.apk reboot and all should work. there's still a bit of Chinese in the messege settings but I can live with that (you could put the messages apk in the futureshocks.miui.german/Root/system/app folder I suppose)

when you apply the language pack you replace the build.prop file with that of the language pack's. check it against that of a working data build prop, often the ppp dns settings are missing:
net.ppp0.dns1=8.8.8.8
net.ppp0.dns2=8.8.4.4

downloaded the 1.1.28 SD version from MIUI... then I used the nexus 1 language pack from miui-dev....
confirmed working dualboot on my WP7... the 1.1.14 version seems incomplete thats why i used the 1.1.28 version...

Those values aren't even included in the build.prop. I assume you mean the build.prop in /system.
/edit: I didn't replace the build.prop, only slight changes to the original.
And now that I think about that, changing the lcd_density value didn't do anything. Would adding to values do anything? I have switced to Copenhagen's CM7 SD build, which is working fine for now.

Is A New Android Sense ROM coming out Tomorrow?

has listed that a new v5 update is coming on the 21st of July that has a bunch of fixes. But there is no way to download it . anyone have any idea where I can get a ROM that i can use daily. PREFERABLY stock 2.1 or 2.2 but whatever is stable and ready for daily use will do. Thank you all for your answers ahead of time. REALLY want to get rid of my iPhone and get an HD2
I have read something that there is an Energy Droid ROM that NRGZ28 dropped but cant find it or his directions. There is way too many posts and threads here to find things sometimes.

Well I should have asked, are the UK dl and the twitter Dl links just SD run roms or do they fully take over the hd2 and run alone wiping winmo? I'm not interested in dual boot. serves no purpose in my opinion.
None wipe WinMO at this point. The twitter links are generally patches for developers or anyone who wants to experiment with the version theyve downloaded. Best you can do at this point is donate to the developers suport, time, and money and they will be done soon.

If anybody would bother reading, what NRGZ28 has posted, or the readme in the download ..
From Readme By NRGZ28
This package is a combination of a minimal WM ROM made by me (NRGZ28) and the latest "Desire" V4 Android build for the HD2 made by Cotulla! More info can be found here http://gamesquare.co.uk/desire.html
In order to run this on your HD2, you have to copy THREE files to the root folder of a storage card and insert it in the device. YOU CANNOT RUN THIS WITHOUT A STORAGE CARD. If the OS detect no storage card, it will shut down automatically. Now...
Copy "data.img","rootfs.img" and "system.sqsh" found in the 7z archive, to the ROOT of your storage card.
These files require about 400 MBytes, so make sure you have at least that much available on the card. A class 4 or Class 6 card is recommended for best performance.
If you find that you don't like this ROM and want to get back to your regular Windows Mobile ROM, turn the phone off (press the End key inside Android or simply pull the battery) and hold the "Volume Down" key on the side of the phone, as you're turning it on with the red power key. It will bring you to the multi colored bootloader screen, where you can plug in your cable and flash your favorite ROM.
1. Sugggestions
- Choose the HTC Sense interface on startup when you're asked what you want to run. It runs better.
- Go to Settings / Wireless & Networks / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names and push the "windows" key on the device to get the menu to pop out. Here you can add the access point for your provider. For example, it's "wap.voicestream.com" for TMobile USA. You can look this up easily on XDA. This is a required step to get DATA services in Android.
- The "windows" key is your menu key in android.
Enjoy and be sure to thank Cotulla for his hard work on this !!

Ya thats all I could find, what you just posted.
Don't expect to see a stable daily use ROM any time soon. Try looking around at the other devices that have Android ported for the last year. Do they have a flashable ROM ? Nope........! Don't expect one for the HD2 anytime soon. If you want Droid as an every day OS go get an Android phone. That's really your only solution.
Does the new Desire build have to have the newest zImage also?
Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to connect your phone to your PC in Desire v5. You don't get the "Mount phone" option in the notification area.
Also, native camera app doesn't work, as it forces you to use the optical trackball to take a pic, but HD2 doesn't have optical trackpad. CameraMagic works fine though.

internet not working.....
how do i get the internet and my voice calls to work properly.....I have android up and working, just having those 2 issues
Here we go. I DL'ed the zip, and unzipped it. I do not see a ROM to install? I was under the impression that this would install a basic ROM + Everything needed to run Android (except I have to copy the 3 files to the SD). Does it not. Do I have to install a basic ROM myself first, and if so, how do I then make this Android work on boot?
Anyone? Maybe fast help? (I'm leaving work soon and wanted to do it before)...

Can anyone recommend a rom with lots of internal space

I'm currently using CMYLXGO stock desire rom and i love it but the last few days ive been getting a low memory icon. I look and my phone says 90%. Wierd cause ive deleted many apps and have app2sd as well. I dont know if its me or the rom but I was wondering if anyone can recommend a rom that offers lots of space for apps. For some reason while the icon is up I dont even get emails. If anyone is using app2sd i have a question. When i click on the "phone only" tab it says 21 apps but on the moveable tab it says "no moveable applications found". And on my sd tab it says only 9 apps. How do I move those phone apps to my sd? Maybe that'll clear space.
If your using SD android, (i dont know about nand or ram) Search for toporesize in xda, find [app]windows resize data img maker thread and download the app, then just follow the instructions but backup your img first and don't resize to bigger than 2048mb(2gb).
Then you have larger internal memory with the same rom!

Ok sorry. I just searched for it and it is nand. Different filesystem setups.
I only use SD card builds so I can still use winmo if I like.
Looking at the thread for your build you need partitions or something.
In which case I'd recommend the rom in my signature.

Enjoy the power dude!!!!!!!!!!!!
so it seems the instructions are cut and dry. One question it doesnt answer. Should I take all my current rom zips out of my sd?
Unless you absolutely positively need sense, I would recommend and AOSP build like this lightning fast gingerbread build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918899
sense builds will always tend towards the bloated side. The system partition on the gingerbread build i linked only takes up about 125 mb. vs the 400mb partition that cmylxgo's dhd build takes up
so i went with coredroid and so far so good. I wanna thank you guys for all the suggestions you've provided

NAND vs. SD method

Hi
A friend of mine asked me if I could put Android on his HD2 as he bought one with German language and he doesn't understand anything at all. Now we wan't to completely remove Windows Mobile 6.5.x from the phone and install Android. ICS with HTC sense is prefered but and older version will also do.
I have found multiple tutorials, but I wonder which method is the best. NAND or SD?
At this point in time we don't have any SD-card in the phone, so I asume the Sd method isn't usable. But which method and ROM is the best to use if we want to be able to switch language and want Android experience as close to the HTC android phones as possible.
Are there any bugs with the HD2 in Android? I've heard that there should be problems with the sound when calling people, and the data-connection should be unstable as well. Are these rumors still current or have they been solved?

Ok. First of all, Nand is the better of the two. As your friend want to COMPLETELY remove winmo6.5 its better to use NAND. Currently there is no ICS sense rom but the sense gingerbread roms work very smoothly with all features working. So you may want to try that. And dont worry you can change language from german to english. You basically select english at the startup setup.
One more thing. Even when installing the NAND version of android you will need a sd-card. The rom is a .zip file which must be copied to the sd card and this rom will be installed on the phones internal memory hence: NAND.
Hope it helps
Feel free to ask but i suggest you search it first and read more, because clearly you are lacking information

Thanks for the quick reply. I will read further on how to install using NAND method. But how big should the SD-card be. As said he doesn't have a SD-card in his phone. I have one but it's only 128MB, so not a whole lot. If the phone was using the MiniSD cards instead of microSD I had a 1GB card. But isn't it possible to get a Gingerbread HTC Sense ROM and then extract and repack it on the PC so it can fit the 128MB card. Or are the packed ROM's small enough to fit on a 128MB card?
Tell your friend to invest in about 4GB or more, once you've got a few apps, video video clips, music files and recovery backups then the 4GB will be eaten fairly fast imo. If you grab a class 6 card you can get one for less then $1/GB (aud).

Dont forget the thanks button
Anyways, basically the sd card is used to put the rom in and all music, pics, apps etc. will be stored on the sd card. plus, the 128 mb card will not hold the rom. Some files of the rom are installed on the sd card as well(some) so yeah, like the above user said, invest in a class 4 sd card with a fairly high amount of memory.
try the link below, it could give you an idea
You will need an SD card anyhow as mentioned before. Not only for flashing it to Nand, also some ROMs needs an ext(2 or 3) partition on the SD card. Specially when it's an EU device as yours might seems.
F.e.: I got an EU model and the great Energy ROM running - this needs a 1Gb ext(2 or 3) partition on the SD card!
-> It depends on the ROM of your choice.
Right now, I guess there is now ICS ROM with sense out there - or an I wrong?
I can definetly recommend the NRG ROM as this one runs really great. There is also a very good lashing instruction in its thread.
Good luck :good:

I also want to completely remove winmo6.5 from my wife's stock UK HTC HD2 and put some form of Android OS on it so I can then get her Ovivo Mobile mobile connection to work (I'm not bothered about dual boot functionality). Could you quickly link to a guide you would recommend to do this ("Thanks" will always be given :good: ).
(Note: I had an HD2 once, and bricked it after 9 months of ownership with a dodgy radio, so I'm a bit once-bitten-twice-shy about doing it).

ICS AOKP ROM for the u8800

This is an AOKP ROM for the u8800. It is ported from Huawei Honor B977 4.0.3. I'd like to know if anyone else has tried this and what they think. It's a chinese rom from the anzhi forums (original thread)
I flashed this ROM just now ( thanks fjsferreira for the mirror), this is my feedback:
- Fast, smooth (on par with Aurora).
- Wifi, mobile data, bluetooth, and the like work.
- No gapps, Play Store, camera, browser...(you pretty much have to install everything yourself).
- No strip unicode in the Mms.apk.
- Popup notification support in the Mms.apk.
- Cool AOKP tweaks (naturally...).
- No theme-chooser (meaning you'll have to stick with the mix of Touchwiz 5, ICS and lots of tranparency that is the UI).
- Long pressing the Home key doesn't show the multi-tasking interface and doesn't take you to the Homescreen.
- The SEARCH key is set to turn off the screen (to revert it to its normal function (searching!), check this post).
- I'll add more feedback information as more people try it and report.

I found his AOKP ROM for our u8800, I'm about to try it, and when I do I'll post some feedback here. Also, I'd like to know if anyone else has tried this and what they think. It's a chinese rom from the anzhi forums (original thread)
Download link: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=22964&uk=2499982078.
Btw, as soon as I finish downloading I'll put it up on mediafire or dropbox, but if someone else already has it feel free to post a link.

Make sure the system folder fits in your system partition. I think you need to chacge the partitions in order to flash this, but I'm not sure. Our phone's default system partition is 210 mb
Has anyone tried it? Or have mirror?
I would love to give a try, but download time shows me 18 hours...
I have tried the previous ver actually..... Partition is a must, otherwise phone wont pass Huawei logo. Its ported from Huawei Honor ...every thing works well but Home key does not work..... But be aware some time it happens that you cant return to stock partition and you wont be able to Flash official 2.3 or Froyo ROM back.

I haven't tried that way, you can try once.... All 4.0 official ROM designed for U8800 PRO also officially they have made .app file for changing the partition to install ICS so i doubt it will work.

Actually this version is much smaller (109MB) than the previous (180MB), so it may not need re-partitioning. It has a ".UP" suffix so maybe it is an update flashable only and you need the previous installed, but I can't know since I cannot download it. It just goes soooooo slowwww....

I know, right? I left the computer on and went to the beach but when I came back the file only had 86mb out of the 109mb...I'll have to try again tomorrow, since it will probably take some 4 hours to download.

If you guys use something to stabilize the download, like free download manager, speed is always above 800 KB/s (I've just finished my download, took less than 3mins)
http://i.imgur.com/5kkae.jpg
EDIT: anyway, here it is
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4ZMZwAV0MEaVUUzMjRDM2JyXzg
(I didn't try this ROM yet, and probably won't, Aurora is completely stable for me right now)
Well, just went ahead and tried the ROM. From my 10 minutes playing with it, everything seems to work, wifi, mobile data, bluetooth and camera (camera isn't included by default, you have to install one).
Also, no market by default, you have to manually edit the zip file and include the market apk in it.
Sadly I had to uninstall it after 10 mins because, and I'm seeing this more and more, the dev completely screwed up the UI... it's simply horrible, it's not default AOKP at all... He made a complete mess with icons from samsung, an horrible background in every app, horrible popups and menus, etc... I didn't like that at all. I didn't even took the time to create screenshots, I'm sorry, because it was burning my eyes...
There are some stuff completely in chinese, in the ROM control area of the settings, but overall, you can choose any language that Android includes. Note, while the theme of the UI isn't AOKP, the ROM itself is, with the usual settings AOKP provides,
Performance wise, I saw no difference than with aurora...

Thanks. I reverted to the good old .32 kernel yesterday, so I won't be testing this one for now. However, I'll still update the OP with the links to the latest version and the features/bugs list.

hey, my phone is TMO, I am new to android and I am astonished what Android can run without changing hardware but you ask me to much, I don't know what it's a2sd script and is first time I think about it! How can I know which I have?
After installation I start installing games and I got problems so I can't confirm right now if I have the same issue with apps too, that will be a massive problem!
What can I do to let you help me?

ok, I can confirm that, it's in general! :crying:
I just try to install Absolute System Root Tool and he crashed, immediately and completely.
This never happened with games, I was able to play with few games but when I leaved the phone in standby he crashed by him self.
Where is the problem?
You have a tmo, so forget about the a2sd script.
Which bootloader do you have (clk or magldr) ? and what rom are you using ? and what is your recovery partition.
P.S.: Was it you who installed Android on it or you bought it already installed/let someone do it for you?

Ok, I do not have CLK ot MAGLDR, I downloaded Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 2.3Revolution, kernel Hastarin 7.7, Android 2.2 but they call 2.3 for from last update. I do not use recovery partition because there are not partitions, all is on sd fat32 partition, basicly old stuff, but I like the rom. I put all the package folder (Android) into my sd, the type Android is based on rootfs.img, and I run it from Windows Mobile 6.5 with Android Launcher. First time he boot in 10 minuts because he had to made the fresh data.img of 1024MB. After he boot I reboot 3 times and he working very well, the problem comming when I try to install app or games, fully sure.
All the work I did by my self, few tip here and there, thanks XDA ofcurse.

Hmmm .. to be honest with you, the last time I used an sd-build was about 2 years ago. I do not know what may cause such an issue. It could be the sd-card's partition since you are unable to "write data" to the "data.img" file. Or it could be a problem with that particular build.
Can you try the same build on a different sd card?
I remember having some problems, and a format of my sd-card usually solved them. (due to leftovers from previous roms) << you can try this one as well.
I am sorry, I am not experienced in sd-roms.

I was thinking exactly about do that, I got now the last Sandisk Micro SDHC 32GB Class 10 and I am unhappy because she don't work well from the first time. The first day I put the OS Android into this card he never turned on. I formatted the card with CMD and the card start working a little bit faster than before but not really well, also Android start working. Today I already paid for Samsung 32GB Class 10.
But what if I change the card and I will have same problems?

I try to think about that and I get confused a little bit, if I am unable to "write data" to the "data.img", in this situation if I install ANY app or Games, which issue I will have? An immediate crash, Right?
or the program will be installed wrong and will never work. So why the Games working and also Android still working after installing few games and he crash leater? data.img compromised?
I will be glad if someone will have an answare for that.

Since you are running sd builds(you didn't tell me anything about that) it's you card problem. Try deleting everything from .android secure(you're now losing apps from previous rom) because I think that the new rom is trying to overwrite the old one. I was using sd build but this problem is totally unfamiliar with me.
Anyway, install android on your HD2 on NAND, strongly recommended, or native sd since you mentioned that you have class 10 sd card.
I can give you a great tutorial that I've found on youtube if you want, or search the xda, there are a few good ones.

Sorry, I don't know how to define all the Android build so I get confused. Now I should know, SD Builds are the OS like mine on sd fat32, Native SD are the OS on partition ext4 and they can be installed with MALGRD, ok, and NAND are flashed on ROM. Too many thing for me to learn and also my english is not so good.

I can't on NAND, I have to have Windows Mobile 6.5 because I have full Unlocked TomTom and few app which working fine, Windows Mobile also working well, (just forget bluetooth) and if the SD Build will continue to give me problem with the NEW Samsung microSD class 10 I will probably install Native SD for sure, I hope it will be stable and fast without problems.

No way, I hope you understand , I try to make it work but I alrady paid today for another one HTC HD2 , so 1 I use daily with Windows Mobile 6.5 and the "new" one when comes I try to make it work with Android.
AND, when I finally will understud how to have 2 OS on 1 HD2 perhaps I am happy. :fingers-crossed:
Ok, Guys, problem solved, was the microSD!
Yes, the crap Sandisk Class 10 (28mb/s in Read, 15mb/s in Writing) this time let me down, I changed the sd and the Android do not crash anymore and I can install apps and games also.
The battery life,is not so long but this actually can be resolved too, I will try new Androids anyway to find the best set-ups for me.
Thanks for all the support and and tips.
