Trash can - Wildfire General

Hi again,
I`m new to android and have now got my Wildfire rooted and running the latest Wilpuzzle rom.I`ve also got live wallpapers running, got overclocking running and even Angry Birds so thanks to everyone for the help and advice on these forums.
The last little thing that is now got me is can you permanantly delete trash. As I`ve been playing around I have quite often put things on the screen then wanted to get rid of the icon etc.
So I do a long press and the trash icon appears in the notification bar at the top then I just drag the item to the bin and it`s gone.Over the past couple of weeks I`ve done this loads of times. My question is- Is there a permanent delete option like on Windows or is it permanently deleted each time I drag it to the trash?
If the permanent delete option is there where is it?
Thanks again

you can remove the app by downloading apps like easy uninstaller or uninstaller from the market.
or you can uninstall them from menu - settings - apps - manage apps... etc
or if you're using launcher pro, open app drawer, long press an app and drag it over the trash can until it says drop to uninstall, or something like that.

For the built in widget's, I dont think there is a permanent delete option. But, for 3rd party apps, you can simply uninstall the app itself.

you can also delete any folders that have been created by discarded apps using a file explorer

Thanks for the replys,
I have a file explorer and also know how to uninstall unwanted apps, but what I want to know is,when you drop something in the trash can, is it automatically permanently deleted or is it like Windows trash can where the files or whatever are dropped into sit with the option to permanently delete or restore.
If it is where do I find it on the system to find the recently deleted files/apps etc?

It (The widget) is just removed from the home screen, that's it. Its not uninstalled or removed or anything. (Unless you use LauncherPro/ADW's Uninstall Feature from the Trash Can).
Widgets are basically "functioning" shortcuts like the shortcuts on your Windows Desktop (Eg: Windows Vista/7 Clock, Calendar Widget etc), and, the same effect occurs when you remove a widget as is the case with removing a windows shortcut, i.e., only the shortcut gets removed. The app remains untouched. You can add it later as and when desired.
Lastly, there is no concept of Recycle Bin in Android as far as I know to view recently deleted apps / files etc.

Thanks 3xeno thats exactly what I wanted to know.

Click to collapse
You can delete the icons manually from the folder \Windows\Startmenu\ of your device.
It takes ages to get to Windows folder on my device About 3 minutes to get to folder....
Is it normal ?

Same here, when I had the "sort" feature set to "type" (in file explorer).
Open file explorer, at the very top-right, select "name" and then go to your windows directory..should load it much faster
GryphonLeon thx. It works much faster now
chr5s11 Thank You for advice. Works perfectly

[Q] [Q?] can i remove samsung task manager

hi, does anyone know the root files involved so i can remove the samsung task manager, or at least permanently disable it
my problem is that my tab used to force close every time i tried to use it
so i use ATKfroyo, have it set to kill my unwanted apps on screen lock/unlock
but that stops working after a few minutes, (ATKpro does the same)
ive noticed that if i 'force stop' the samsung task manager, and providing i get no force close crashes
the ATKfroyo kill on lock/unlock keeps working for many hours
my RAM can drop to 40mb or less just from apps opening in the background when i dont need them to, and thats when i get the force close buzz.....buzz buzz buzz problems
i could even try replacing some of the samsung task manager files with the files from ATK and rename them so the device thinks its opening the samsung TK when its actually opening ATK, but im not sure how many files make the total app

You can use Titanium Backup to uninstall system apps
and will that let me reinstall it if something goes wrong?
i would rather know where all the files are that make the program
so i can replace them manually with the ATK files but renamed so the device thinks its still there and runs AKT instead
anyone?

then install "root explorer" from the market, and search for the associated files of Task Manager (or other apps) and copy/paste & back up manually.
if it's a system app, it will probably be in /system/app; if it is a non-system app, it's probably in /app
if it's an odexed system, many *.apk's have *.odex; and they will not run without the *.odex file, if the system hasn't been deodexed yet
some have files associated to them in system/lib (e.g. such as SWYPE)
if you say "ATK or AKT"? do you mean APK instead?

app folders or short cuts

I have a stupid question? My wife's a500 is all stock not rooted but problem is all her app folder shortcuts stop working. Then her different screens where she setup short cuts is like they are all gone? Almost as if it is fresh out of box. Real weird. She is at hc3.1 , kernel very 2.6.36.3. Build #4.010.13com Gen 2. Anyone got any idea what may have happened it like Fri in weird none of the shortcuts were working then she shut it down restarted dida reset then it like it lost all her personalization settings.........
I've had that happen to me several times when I tried to organize my apps with the Acer organizing folders. Especially the game folder. While I don't really know the why's, I do know it happens when the folders are at full capacity. At least in my case this occurred. I didn't know if it was caused by a shortcut that peeked a specific size limit or just a shortcut that caused a glitch in general since I wasn't able to isolate the cause. Sometimes a shortcut added to the folder would eventually end up missing leaving a void that couldn't be filled, leaving me no option but to clear data for the game or media folder and start over with only the same result.
I eventually resorted to 'app organizer' on the marketplace with no problems since. Much better anyway since I can customize the icons and quickly label apps to appear for each folder.
I do believe I read that this happens when an app in the folder gets updated, then the apps disappear and the problems start. I also switched to app organizer because of this.

Apps disappeared after deleting folder

Hi! All. I created a folder & added some apps inside. But i decided to deleted the folder & the apps in it disappeared along with it. Is this normal?! Pls help cause i thought that by. Deleting the folder i'm just deleting the folder & not the apps but now the apps are nowhere to be seen
Hello, What launcher are you using? Does the Play Store (Market) still see them as installed?
It is a Touchwiz bug - please se my other posts about this. You will still be able to see the apps in the all apps draw, but to get them back elsewhere you will need to got to settings/applications find TWLauncher and clear data - this will lose your existing folder definitions and some widgets etc, but they will return in the app draw. Best move is to go across to Go launcher HD - more flexible, lag free homescreens and a much better approach to folder /apps organisation.

[Q] App folder's apps have no text/description!

I just got a T-Mobile LG G2. I rooted it, and then installed NoBloat Free. I uninstalled (but left a backup) of several system apps that I thought were safe to uninstall. However once I completed this process (I ended up uninstalling about ~30 files/apps), I ran into a very strange result:
None of the apps in my app folder have any text under their icons. For instance, I'll see the icon/app for WeatherBug, but underneath it there is no text/words that say "WeatherBug". It's just completely blank, for all the apps in the app folder.
I can only presume I uninstalled an android system file that caused this, but I don't know which one it is. Interestingly enough, when I long-press an app (in the app folder) and drag it to my home page, the text shows up. And as a side note, the apps on my home screen all have their descriptions/names.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
