[Q] Problem with PC Companion/CDA - XPERIA X10 General

hey guys,
i´ve put the Generic Global Rom (Former LAM - 1234-4820)on my x10a to get all the updates from SE (.24 and etc) using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711
well, it turned out that since then, my phone is "emergency only" and "no signal" all the time.
now I´m trying to return to Generic BR Rom (the one I was using before) through the same method, but PC Companion just ignores it and re-install the Generic Global Rom
any idea how can I return to the BR Rom or solve this signal problem???
Model: X10a AAD-3880074-AV
running default SE 2.1 Rom (2.1.A.0.435)
thx

Do you have multi touch in that ROM?
This must be a newer version than .24 ROM according to this
http://www.ptcrb.com/ctiastaff/complete/view_complete_request.cfm?modelid=16756

Dual Touch, Yes, but still with that problem when crossing axis; just like the hack
By the Way, Is there any Brazilian x10 owner Here?

xperia stuck on SE Boot logo

hi guys,
So I decided to flash Touch-IT Xperience v3.0 ROM on my phone I followed all the steps and flashed it with out using the MicroSD card. But the i noticed thats it kinda laggy so decided to get GENERIC X1A english North America NAM ROM I flashed it same way like the touch-it one but after it got done and phone restarted it keeps freezing on the SE logo My phone was branded vodafone uk maybe that caused the problem? Could someone please help me out and tell me how to fix this?
Hard-reset may solve your problems (search for it on this forum). Or try a different ROM. I had problems with a previous ROM and then tried Jack's and its realllllllly good now, in my opinion. ROMs' effect and usability differ from phone to phone sometimes... no idea why.
(my handset is also Voda UK)
Installed generic UK rom works fine now
Not sure if it's the same on x1 but are there any tricolor bootloader on x1? if yes you could hood it up on your computer and might flash it using your computer i guess...
have the same problem, without trying to flash. just rebooting the phone... Any ideas ?

Updating firmware?

Hello all, I've had my X1i for about a month now. I've noticed theres an updating application on the CD included with the X1 for my PC. Should I use this to update the firmware on the X1i? I remember reading some posts awhile back that updating it caused some X1s to brick. Is this problem still widely spread? Can I now use the update software safely?
new firmware soon!!!
hi there..
i talked with sonyericsson technical support today and according to them, sonyericsson will soon release a new firmware to x1..
problably in about two weeks. cant wait
If I downloaded..
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/x1?lc=en&cc=gb
What would running it do to my phone?
Edit: I also have an unlocked phone...
The easiest way is to find the thread in the ROM section with the NEW firmwares. There are instructions on how to install them just using your Memory Card which is quick and efficient.
So I found the thread...one question though...how do I know which one to install?
From the version tab
Rom Version: 1.02.931.3
Rom Date: 8/29/08
Radio Version: 1.06.25.29
Customer info. tab
Software id: 1213-6450
software version: R1AA017
Customization id: 1215-1832
Customization v..: R15A

The answer to your question is posted all over the place, as well as the thread you found.
If you want to keep the Generic_UK rom (Not branded by any companies), you have to wait till it comes out.
Or even better, wait for the new firmware to get expertly cooked up in a lightning fast beast!

New FW already out?
Hi there,
I read some post under the ROM section about someone that tried the SE update service and already got the new FW.
I live in Sweden and have an unlocked X1i (Swedish). Used the update service. The program told me that I already got the latest FW, but I chose "install new FW anyway".
I had R1A before, but now I have R2AA.
Seems like the new FW is already out!
Yes the new firmware is out, R2A ROM version 1.03.936.6.
So have anyone tried it yet?
Would love to have some reports before proceeding.

Haven't tried yet but someone said it will connect faster to the network than before.

my xperia rom version

hey guys, a bit of a loss here. i bought a xperia X1a and tried to update it via SEUS, it found no updates. however when i check the device information its rom version is 1.02.949.8, isnt the r2a rom supposed to 1.03 or something. furthermore, when i go into the 'customer info tab' its software version is R1AA021, but its customization version is R2A. so is my phones rom R1A or R2A?, completely lost..
would the cause of this be that its customization variant is TELSTRA_AU??
thanks pplz

[GUIDE]Easy way to brand/debrand or change firmware

I've used this methode alot on my X10 and i just tried it on the Arc and it still works great! To do this you'll need root and root explorer(or an other methode to change your build.prop) and a locked bootloader otherwise seus & pc companion wont work
I'm not responsible if you break your phone!
How to:
- Look up the customization number of the firmware you want to change to in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082368
- Open root explorer and go to \system and open the build.prop file in the text editor
- Change the following three lines:
ro.product.name=LT15i_XXXX-XXXX
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/LT15i_XXXX-XXXX/
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
Change the XXXX-XXXX into the customization number of your desired firmware
- Press the menu button and save & exit
- Reboot
- If you are using pc companion on you computer go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\db\13740270\
And delete the blob_fs folder
If you re using SEUS on you computer go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\13740270\
And delete the blob_fs folder
- Shut down your phone
- Use SEUS for update or use the repair function in pc companion
- Reboot and enjoy your new firmware
Worked for me Changed SI from UK generic to UK O2 and after reboot, PC Companion picked up the 2.3.3 update straight away
The irony of course is that it's actually an O2 phone anyway which I'd debranded after I'd bought it by flashing UK generic firmware! Thankfully the O2 firmware actually seems to have less crap than the generic one...
An easy way to debrand it for me was to reinstall the software using SEUS. It wiped out all the Orange stuff that was on mine.

That's weird when reflashing without changing SI numbers it should reinstall the original branded firmware

thank you so much you have been so helpful, gave you 2 thanks for all the help you've given me..trying it right now..
Would changing my number to somewhere where the 2.3.3 update is available already allow me to get it?
Also, does doing this erase your phone?
EDIT: Never mind the first question, didn't read through the posts in this topic.

Hi can anyone help a confused noob!
My Xperia Arc started life as the UK t-mobile branded one.
I used the helpful guides here to debrand it to the global .181 one.
However I keep trying to check from time to time for updated software to 2.3.3 and it says I have the latest one.
I can see a UK generic firmware released.
Now if I re-flash to that one - can I then update to 2.3.3?
I thought the purpose was that if I debranded to global .181 one - being global it would get the update more or less faster then other firmwares?
Sorry for the noobish questions - any help would really be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi thanks for that but you say I need "root and root explorer" - sorry where do I get these from? I presume my bootlocker is locked by default as I have not touched that part of the phone but do I need to root my phone as well? I haven't done that yet.

I think Microsoft will roll out this for unbranded phone Much More later!!! Mayb until Tango1...
But anyways, Ive enabled dis thru Registry
The hilarious thing is, at first, make me think, Branded phone is not gud, the update will b later than the unbranded ones, but since Microsoft decided to roll out every update with carriers, (****), luk at dis Thethering Update, we unbranded phones r later!
So mayb, it's gud to use a branded phone mayb....(((
maybe somebody can catch the update and post it here???
so we can flash manually...

Yes it would be great
I find it crazy that unbranded phones don't receive this update ...
I have manually updated my operator unlocked Omnia 7 to the new firmware and am very puzzled.
I am on O2 in the UK and thought that upgrading to this new firmware would enable wifi tethering but after the update, this was not enabled.
I updated to the SFR-FR update available from mobiletechworld.com and everything was ok apart from being unable to hear any calls so downgraded back to the KH5 firmware.
My Specs are now
firmware version 2424.11.8.5
Radio 2424.11.9.1
Bootloader 5.9.1.4
Does anyone know if I am going to have to follow the guide on here to enable wifi sharing or whether wifi sharing will definitely be available to unbranded Omnia 7's via a firmware update anytime ?
Set this registry value. Then try to update your Phone. Then restore the original value.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo

Got my update last night on T-Mobile UK (branded) and tethering is enabled
Firmware revision number: 2424.11.9.4
Radio software version: 2424.11.9.1
Bootloader version: 5.9.3.0
Is there a way to force the update on a unbranded Omnia 7??
no, there is no way to force the update, because tethering is for carriers only ... i also have a open samsung omnia with a 3 Austria sim - card. we have to wait i also search for a 3 austria CSC / firmware. but nothing ... i only found 3UK or 3 ireland firmwares.
Lol, I forced KI3 fw yesterday (with cab sender), only to find out that the new T-Mobile UK update updates the fw to 2424.11.9.4 (I have 2424.11.9.3) and bl to 5.9.3.0 (I have 5.9.1.4) :'-( I WANT the new OEM.cab The tragic irony is I own a T-Mobile branded device, but have unbranded it, holy sh!t when are branded devices are supposed to get all the goodies first?
