Create an app which contains mobile website? - Android Software Development

Hi, is it possible to create a app that will just contain a link to mobile website (bookmark of some sort but an actual app). So when users click on the app on their devices they are taken directly to my mobile website. I know there is google app inventor but I couldn't find tutorial on how to do that. Any idea?

Yes, an app can either launch a url which will open in the phones browser or you can put a webview(browser) inside the App.

do you know if I can find a tutorial on how to do that? How do I make custom app icon and so on?

The icons you need to make in a graphics program and output them in the required sizes, go to the official android dev site there are photoshop templates and everything.

Its not that had to do with app inventor. There are two ways. One which will launch the defualt browser to the site (easy) or one which will create a webview inside the app using a third party app (hard). I made a youtube video on how to do it the browser way a while back. It takes about 5 min. Then another 10min if you want to put it on the market. Both vies can be found on youtube by searching cmoney12051

Facebook in sense UI

In sense UI you get notifications if someone changes anything in Facebook. When I Click to check the changes the browser opens the ordinary mobile site. Is there any Way to make it Open the touch version instead?

I don't think so. The application opens the mobile page so you can't do anything about it. But I can recommend you the facebook app from the market. It can do anything except chat.

problem with downloading files on the x10

Hey,
I've got a problem: I can't download any files on my x10 using a internetbrowser (tried 3 different browsers), but the market works just fine: s how can i solve this?

Get a file manager app first, such as Astro. If you use Astro, check mark under preferences, "enable all file types under browser."
NOTE: You have to move away from the mentality of using the browser for most activities. Android phones, like Iphones, are centered around apps. and not the web browser.

[Q] unable to access xda developers from GNote and other issues

I got 2 main issues:
1) I cannot access XDA developers from my note, regardless of the browser I use.
2) I suddenly noticed that a large number of photos that I never uploaded or synced appeared on my GNote. I suspect they were downloaded either from Google+ or Picassa, I'm not sure.
a) How can I ensure I don't download automatically from any apps that I install?
b) How do I get rid of the files? This is more complicated because they appear in my Gallery under "Instant upload", but I cannot find that folder anywhere on my GNote (mind you, I don't have a file browser that allows me to do a search)
c) why can I not delete images via the my gallery app? sounds kinda moronic to me. a gallery app should have a 'delete function, in fact I consider it a mandatory function...
Any suggestions?
You need to check couple things first settings accounts Google untick photos picasso

Given the strange behaviour of your browser downloading an anti virus software and performing a scan would no be wrong.

Youtube

Not a developer so take it easy. Was wondering if anyone can make a YouTube mod where music will keep playing even if you hit the power button. Thanks

There are apps on the market that do this. Not sure of the names off the top of my head right now, sadly, but they're on the Play Store.

Try this modified Youtube app:
http://db.tt/TwJYegfD
I found it from the Omega ROM
This app let's you listen to videos with the screen off and even let's you download videos if you want. But for some reason, you may or may not be able to sign into your YouTube account.
You need to push this app to /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r--, and then reboot. If you already have a YouTube app in /system/app then you will have to delete your current one (or just rename it). If your existing YouTube app was installed from the Play Store then this one should not conflict with it. This one has a blue icon.

I can't remember exactly where I found this apk. I believe it was from the GSii forums, as part of a custom ROM.

You can just install this app like a regular app, and it will not conflict with an existing YouTube app. This one has a blue icon.
EDIT:
This modified app comes from the Omega ROM

I tried it but I get a parsing error when trying to install. I'm trying this on one of the jelly bean ports so that could be why. I'll try placing in system and see if that helps

Oops, my mistake. You do indeed need to place it in /system/app/ to install. My above post should have the correct instructions now.
Also on JB, at least on the SDK port I'm using, the pre-installed Youtube app is installed in /system. That means you'll have to remove or rename it if you want to use the modified version I posted (unless someone knows of a way for them to coexist?). And for whatever reason, the YT app on the Play store is listed as incompatible with JB.

Similar and great is airdroid. It even lets you scan the qr code on screen so you don't have to type a password. And offers a LAN file manager.
