[Q] direct to unlock screen? - XPERIA X8 General

does anyone know how exactly, when your phone is locked, to skip the left-to-right swipe and go directly to the unlock pattern?
Sometimes, when the screen is dark, and i press the options button, it goes right to the unlock pattern... but i can't figure out how to reproduce the behavior reliably.
thanks, guys!

Take a look -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926934

well... thanks for the reply regardless. I don't know why it works every once in a while.

Need advice on a locking program

Hello all,
I need some advice on a locking program. Here is my problem.... I generally use the power button to "lock" my phone before I put it in my pocket. Usually that works fine until I get a reminder alert or something else that causes the phone to wake up in my pocket. At that point the touch screen becomes active and all sorts of odd things start to happen as the phone bounces around in my pocket.
I really only want to lock the touch screen, not the handware buttons so I can respond to whatever caused the phone to lock up in the first place, i.e. reminder, incoming call, etc.
I also need it to be easy to unlock the touch screen using one hand and without entering a security code.
Thanks,
Jay
I use Lockdown: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1795969
it's small and simple.
Lockdown
Looks almost like what I need except it also locks the hardware buttons. I only want to lock the touch screen.

the closest thing I can think of for you is....
step 1.
menu » settings » personal » buttons » lock » do not lock buttons.
this will only lock the screen and not the hardware buttons (with the exception of the d-pad.)
step 2 is to set up the enable the device lock which is different than the security lock due to the fact it DOES NOT require a password to unlock the phone.
menu » settings » today » items » and check the box for "device lock".
--------------------
I tested it and it only takes 1 screen tap to lock the phone and two to unlock it.
any email or text will not unlock the phone.
if you receive a call the screen will remain locked however, you can answer the call without unlocking the screen by pressing hardware button with the green phone icon on it.
-----------
that's the best I can come up with. I hope this helps.
I bid you peace....

I've been using DeviceLock forever and it has always worked for me.

S2U2 usage

Hi
Looked at S2U2 for a day or so. I have read the file son thier site but cannot figure this out.
What I want is to be able to press a key and invoke the lock like you can with any conventional phone. With S2U2 it seems you have to go to programs, and launch S2U2. Can it not be assigned to one of the 4 quick keys ?
Also can anyone explain the setting "lock when the device wakes up" ? Why would you want to lock the
device when it wakes up ? also "Lock when screen is blank" ? not sure what that means, afaics, my HD screen has never been blank.
thanks for any help

lock when device wakes up is the best option.

Hi kidnamedAlbert
What exactly does this option mean, I find it very confusing. Surely when "device wakes up", I (the user) has done something to wake it up, so therefore I want to use it - not lock it. This option confuses me or Am I missing something here?

2.0 style "Maze" unlock in 1.6?

Hi, I've seen a lot of video's out there that featured an unlock screen where you would drag your finger through some sort of square maze to unlock your screen. The pattern you need to make seems customizable.
Is there any way I can get this unlock screen in an 1.6 rom? It looks pretty cool!
Here is a screenshot of what I'm talking about:
http://www.droidnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/haptic_screen_unlock2.png
that is in all roms, goto setting then security, then set unlock pattern
Do'h.. just found it.. thanks.
I thought it was simply an unlock screen though, not a security measure..
Now I have to press menu as well as make a pattern to unlock.. not sure if this is what I want

screen lock

unlock the screen is straight forward, how to lock it is the question! anybody can help?
A quick press on the power button will do the trick!
haha...tt's simple...tx a million!
Yeah! No problem!
Don't want to create a whole new thread for this as its probably a simple answer, but is there a way to lock the screen with numbers or something similar to the Sense UI? I just ask as I haven't seen any security on the lock screen so anyone can get in? There must be a way to lock it so only you can open it?

Well yeah. You can set a lock pattern that works in the same way. Kind of. It's in settings -> Security and at the top!

Incredible unlock screen

Is it just a sense thing or is it only with the Incredible, if you set an unlock pattern you still have to drag the clock thing down then enter your unlock pattern to unlock?
can the first drag down to unlock be removed if an unlock pattern is set?
I kinda like this because it gives me the ability to change music tracks while the phone is locked, and with things like chompsms and smspopup you can still see the message.
All the roms I tested on the my old Mytouch where the same, even if unlock pattern was set you still needed to hit menu or something to get to the unlock pattern.
+1 hit menu to bring up the unlock pattern, instead of swiping down on the screen
