it is great !

Oh yeah! This is getting a long long night! I think I can finally release v0.6 of my dvb-app tonight and start developing v0.7 and v0.8 soon (I have some exams next week )

Sadly no mention of flash

Update from initial Android 2.1 possible?
I'm running my Archos 101 still with the original Anroid 2.1! Is it possible to install version 2.1.2 without an intermediate step?

@joede yes you can. easiest and cleanest way would be a reformat of the whole device and then install the new firmware. I don't know if apps and data persist when upgrading from 1.0.x (Android 2.1) to 2.x.x (Android 2.2)

It did from 2.1 to 2.2 (Kernel 2.0.54 and then 2.0.71). However, here is no guarantee so better backup your apps with appmonster or the like.

I'm very much looking forward to it and good luck with the exams!

@churli: thanks. Does the "online update" offer a reformat? Or do I have to start it just before starting the online update?

after a full device format there is nothing but the rescue system left on the device so you have to load the firmware to it by usb.

@Kashban: Thanks. Backup is not so important here. I'm currently using the Archos for some Tweets and reading. Does your update reformat the device automatically?
@chulri: uhh. Is the online update that bad? If I'm running in trouble with the online update, could I still do a reformat and install 2.1.2 from scratch?
Sorry for the delay. As a new user, I have to wait 5 minutes between replies.

afaik the over-the-air-update does NOT reformat the device.
but you CAN reformat the device, but then you need the firmware file on your computer so you can copy it to the device after the reformat is done

The swap should solve a lot of problems with performance
Gonna try this as soon as I get home!

This new firmware doesn't seem to change the issues myself and other have with SMB shares. Whenever I try to access a share, put in password and user, I still just get another request for user/pass

As far as I've tested 2.0.92 beta firmware (swap was already included) it feels much smoother to work with

I'm on 2.07 at the moment- is an android reset (in the format and repair device menu) sufficient or would you recommend a full reformat in recovery?

how is wifi working? i had a lot of random disonnects. ....

i think this was solved in a couple of other threads. the live sign in assistant was the problem for this. so deleting this will remove the asking for the username and password.

Yep, doing the same here...
Is it in your plan to release a 2.2 version, or will you continue optimising 2.1 ?
Are you eventually already working on it ?
Hello, whenever I flash this on my Acer Liquid E, it reboots almost right away. Barely can make it past the setup screen. Is this a known problem or because I am using a Liquid E or do I need a different BIN file, I am running whatever it came with.
Thanks.

[ROM][BL1.1] VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 [UPDATED - 4/11]

***ATTENTION IF YOU ARE COMING FROM A 4349+ STOCK ROM or MOD based off that PLEASE VISIT THE FOLLOWING LINK TO DOWNGRADE YOUR BOOTLOADER AND TNT VERSION BEFORE FLASHING CWM AND THIS OR ANY OTHER ROM****
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036956
VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1
RC1? What happened to BETA? I skipped it... this was a MAJOR overhaul of code and features (this is one reason it has been a month since the experimentals stopped) and has really reached the stable build point. So what's missing? Nothing except High Definition Video Hardware Decoding... not sure if we will ever get that one working right on Gingerbread. Here are some of the feature additions and changes that have been done since the last Experimental:
* Uses the latest Pershoot kernel as of 04/09 - (install any modules you need using the instruction set at the bottom of this post ***most don't need this additional functionality***)
* Switched over to newer Camera Rotation Fix
* Added Tablet Friendly Launcher VTL.Launcher to the launcher options
* Screenshots/DDMS fixed via several commits to Nvidia GIT etc.
* Added in the External Storage Format and Unmount
* Pulled in the Tablet Tweaks
* Modified Tablet Tweaks to not Break our Device or Google API's
* Fixed up the Fullscreen handling issue
* Edited Statusbar buttons to fit with VEGAn-TAB Styling
* Newer Boot Animation - lowered quality to improve boot performance and speed
* Fixed layout of Launcher and added settings to settings page if default
* Added basic Google Apps to avoid confusion
* Added Tablet version of Quick Office
* Added Basic Tablet Keyboard Layout for English version of Gingerbread Keyboard
* Changed Default Browser User Agent to Desktop
* Added code to remove Phone Settings without losing market functionality
* Lot's of code cleanups and minor bug fixes
The Google apps has already been applied. Market WILL NOT SHOW in app drawer until you CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK. ONLY THE APPS THAT YOU CAN'T GET FROM THE MARKET ARE INSTALLED. Stuff like GMAIL, MAPS, etc. need installed through market. This way you will easily stay up to date on those apps. MY APPS in the market WORKS if it doesn't for you then you have restored something you shouldn't data or app wise or not followed the directions correctly.
Also installed is the QuickOfficeHD (pulled from adam).
SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR RELEASE VERSION - NO MATTER THE ROM YOU ARE COMING FROM YOU MUST WIPE DATA! - Use Titanium Backup or similar to save app data. HOWEVER do NOT restore any system app data.... ie. Wireless Settings, CMParts Setting, etc.
After the first boot, and all the setup screens, PROMPTLYreboot the tablet to finish installation.
Install this using CWM 0.8 only at the moment. Till we can figure out why some tablets have issues with newer CWM versions.
****The Latest Flash player from the market now works. Latest google maps now works download from the market.****
Internal Memory is mapped to SDCard and external SD Card is mapped to SDCard2.
Quadrant = 2100
Nenamark = 41 fps
DOWNLOAD is now in the downloads section here: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/downloads
Direct Download: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/VEGAn-GE-7.0.0-RC1-Harmony-signed.zip
MD5: a90c97381d156ed5f43cdd2030472689 VEGAn-GE-7.0.0-RC1-Harmony-signed.zip
I am going to work on a more specialized installation instructions set soon I think. Installation is just like the experimentals through CWM wipe data/cache/dalvik... no exceptions. It could take up to 5 minutes to boot the first time as it is building the dalvik database and cache. Remember to reboot after first boot and setup screens to finish installation. ---- If you have issues booting the first time (ie. boot loops) and you have never run any other gingerbread build before then you probably need to NVFLASH to stock before you can run any GingerBread builds as there is a partition issue from factory on your device.... NVFLASH to stock will repartition everything for you.
Bug Reports can be done here in the forum for now... though I am working on http://vegantab.gojimi.com/bugtracker but we are having some issues with new user signups at the moment.

lib-2632.36.tar.gz (kernel modules)
Download: lib-2632.36.tar.gz
To use one of the kernel modules:
Pull the one you want from lib-2632.36.tar.gz (winrar can open this),
adb remount
(if the folder modules doesn't exist then first - adb shell mkdir /system/lib/modules)
adb push MODULE.ko /system/lib/modules/

This rom is the reason why I've hold off installing CM7.
Can't wait to get off work to install
Thanks Gojimi.
Does this support location via wifi?>
Will the android market web page recognize this like it does VeganTab 5.1.1? That has been wonderful for getting some things to install that the market just wouldn't pick up through a search on the tab for something reason (like Samurai 2).

Have you tried changing your build.prop to recognize the device as an Atrix? I believe you simply rename the device to Olympus within the text.
is the camera in CM7 based roms and gingerbread just messed up on the gTab?

And here I thought VeganGinger would die off since CM7 looked so nice.
Crap!!! Now I've got to set it up ALL OVER AGAIN!
Just Kidding. It looks awesome and I'll happily Wipe data and start over for this.
whats the recomended kernel for this?
Curious what kernel this is built on also. Any plans for hardware video acceleration? Sorry had to ask.
Between this and CM7 stable release for harmony there is so much to try.
it is good stuffs for me so far. Wish the lockscreen was full size and the camera worked properly but other than that it is good stuff
gojimi. Bless you...and DAMN you! I just got CM7 loaded the way I like it. Downloading now...
switched to rotary revamped lockscreen and it messed up. the lockscreen is half the screen size and doesnt allow me to unlock, wtf do I do?

[Windows ONLY][Tool][Utility][1.2][June 2] Yeti FSExplorer

To XDA's mods and admins:
I didn't post this thread using DevDB because I had to select a device... from an empty list.
Do you like to waste your time using ADB in text mode? Me neither.
I want to present Yeti FSExplorer - Windows app that will improve your Android device's file managing experience.I wrote it in C# and it needs .NET Framework 4.5 in order to work.
It looks like this (screenshots inside):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}

My main goal was to create a PC-like file managing experience and here's what FSExplorer can do:
create new files and folders
delete existing files and folders
batch copy and move files (supported by the file queue)
download and upload files (drag&drop supported)
quick download and open a file from your device (only double-click needed)
check and set permissions (3-digits, e.g. 644)
remember where have you been (this means you can go back, up and further like in Windows Explorer; up to 15 last places)
connect to your ADB WiFi-enabled device
list your device's partitions
work in root mode (SU) (working for every command except download/upload)
Click to collapse
What do you need?
In order to get Yeti FSExplorer working you need to sell your property and buy a license have ADB installed. This means it has to be accessible for this program. You can either put it somewhere and make proper changes in system's PATH or simply download this and extract to a folder containing FSExplorer.
You'll also need .NET Framework 4.5 or above, so Windows XP is not supported. Sorry for that.

Sorry for replying that late - there were things independent of me and I wasn't able to analyze the source code for (probably) my mistakes so I could explain it here.
Thank you for reporting this.
When trying to connect to your device using ADB WiFi, do NOT write ":5555", the only thing you need is the IP address as 5555 is the only most used ADB WiFi port. If you try to connect to, for example, 12.34.56.78:5555, nothing is done. Then:
1. If connection is established, FSExplorer will refresh itself, trying to list directory "/".
2. If it isn't, you'll get an error message.
Once again, sorry for delay and not clarifying this thing in this program.
Edit:
I'm working on IP address recognition fix now. There's also one more bug (listing in root mode). These two fixes will be included in version 1.2 of FSExplorer.
Edit2:
Version 1.2 is up. I'd like to know if this version works better with your device.
Sorry...
Today I received a notice by e-mail on this topic!
Now it works! Thank you for your work!
Nice to know!
Feature requests and more bug reports are welcome as much as opinions about this app.

[Official] Tera (on Bullhead) - A cloud file system for unlimited storage

Hi, All.
This is our first post on XDA, so please excuse us if we fail to follow all the rules. Please let us know if it happens, and we'll fix it right away. Thank you very much!
Tera is based on AOSP 7.1.2 with capability to extend your smart phone storage to the cloud.
We made a file system that connects to cloud storage services and make them look like local storage.
We also made changes to the Android framework to support this file system for the Android user experience.
# Changelog
20170804 : first released
20170808 : remove verify system partition for gapps install
20170810 : disable direct boot in some apps for those app are not working. (e.g sim card is not available, now is find)
# Disclaimer
Tera is a work in progress. The development team cannot be responsible for any damage to your device or your data. It has been tested extensively and we deem it stable enough for daily use in most cases. (We gave it to our boss's 78-years old mom to use.)
We are still developing it and adding more features, so we do collect some information to aid future development. You should agree to let us collect the following before using the ROM:
* IMEI
* storage usage amount (NOT storage content)
* data transfer amount (NOT the data being transferred)
* list of installed apps (NOT app data)
* IP address
# Features
* Extend phone local storage with Google Drive cloud storage, while using the local flash memory as a cache.
* Apps can use the entire cloud space as if they were physical storage. If your Google Drive has available quota of 100GB, all apps will see 100GB of local storage available.
* Data will be stored in your Google Drive in a folder call 'tera.<IMEI>'.
* You can 'pin' apps to keep them in local storage for offline use. This can be done in the Tera management app or in Launcher (drag and drop to the top).
* If the "pinned space" is too crowded, you can 'unpin' apps the same way to free up the space.
# Known issues
* Occasionally the phone gets stuck in power off sequence. Force power off (press the power button for 10 seconds) will work.
* The Google account used for storage cannot be changed.
* Out of (cloud) space condition is not handled. The system will just keep retrying.
* The Google Drive total size is displayed in the dashboard, not counting the space used by activities other than Tera.
* Data stored in Google Drive is split into blocks, so you won't see the files directly. We have a utility that gives you the file view for Swift backends, but not for Google Drive yet. We're working on it.
* Data encryption is currently turned off. The system should work with it turned on, but we haven't tested that.
# Installation Steps
1. Download image files and flash. (All existing data will be lost.)
2. Boot to TWRP recovery and sideload gapps.
3. In order to perform an OAuth for access to Google Drive, you will need a web browser. e.g. Chrome or Firefox.
# Usage
1. Open the Tera App.
2. You will see three choices for the backend: Google Drive, SWIFT, AWS S3.
2a. Google Drive is, well, Google Drive. This is what you want.
2b. SWIFT is for future use in private cloud backends, not available right now.
2c. AWS S3 is also for the future, not available right now.
3. So please choose Google Drive and continue to grant access.
4. You will be brought to the Tera dashboard.
5. Enjoy!

ROM Kernel: Linux 3.10.x
ROM Firmware Required: Unlocked Bootloader
Based On: AOSP
Current Version: Tera 2.3.2
Release Date: 2017-08-08
this looks super interesting. Don't suppose it works on the Android O DP4?
This is really interesting! Thanks for your hard work, dev
Is it okay to modify the kernel? I mean, is it okay to use custom kernel?
Great to see this feature on Nexus 5x.. It would be nice though to use this as an extension on my currently installed ROM, like NetHunter one, if it is possible..
I'll wait for the source release.
Alright, after a bit of test, it's possible to use gapps which means we can use it as a daily driver. I think gapps didn't work properly in the development because of encryption, so you should use fed patch or custom kernel to decrypt and allow system modification.
For me, sim isn't working properly but i'm still on testing so wait plz...

Backup your data.
Then you have to decrypt your device by Formating Data in TWRP and wipe everything ( data-system-vendor-cache )

Thanks for share.
Thanks for a well written guide . Quoted this thread itself on tg for anyone who needs a guide.
non stop not responding and force closures. Anybody rectify that? and not able to set APNsettings.
Everything ok after waiting to set initially. Some lags only .
Nice work

Same here, but the message of not responding/force close pops up so fast that i can't see what isn't working lol also some lags here and there even with lag fix, however this works pretty good for being a port of a developer preview
I got "there is an internal error with your device, contact your manufauctrer "problem. how to fix that???
Good guide
I wish all those fixes where included in the image

Try flashing the system image over pixel experience ROM... I had flashed it over unofficial RR and was facing problem... After that I tried flashing it over PE and it's working smooth
I got internal problem and i cnat enter the system. What should I do
Works fine here so far. I got only wlan and fp bug. After boot wlan is working fine. After a minute or so, disables itself and won't let me activate it. Maybe wrong vendor ? I used vendor from dotOS 2.3.1. Magisk 16.6 beta gives me bootloop. Magisk 16.4 seems to work correct for me.
WiFi turns off automatically even when using..... Only bug that bothers me :crying:
After boot don't start phone , just leave it to set up it's own for 30 min then open , install as per OP ,set up everything , enjoy Android P. Excellent upgrade except volte not working (I changed to Airtel) .
